Hi everyone, I know this is might be a bit early to start a thread but after more than 2 1/2 years of trying the overwhelming excitement is real!

Me and my husband lost out first at 10 weeks back in December 2020 and to be honest had kind of given up. I only peed on a stick at 16DPO because a banana repulsed me to the point of spitting it out! Trying not to be too excited or paranoid, but we'll see how that goes. 🤣

I've ordered the Pregnancy after Loss book by Zoe Coates Clark in an attempt to keep my sanity, but the going to the loo fear of seeing blood is real. And I've booked an apt to talk to my GP on Thursday at 5+3 to talk about whether or not progesterone would be appropriate.

Thankfully my husband is level headed and reminds me not to get too ahead of myself yet, but it would be great to meet others in the same boat for a hand hold.

@Janefx40 I felt such a fool when I went into midwife unit on Friday for a listen due to such panic at feeling nothing... Then definitely now feel some moves!

@MRSDoos no such thing as signs and as Jane says the odds are now hugely in all of our favours ❤️ but I do 100% understand

MO22 · 21/12/2022 08:45

@MRSDoos good luck today, let us know how you go. I know exactly what you mean about "signs", in the 9 months after my MC and before I got pregnant again I drove myself mad with them. I began to feel like I was going mad every time I saw a lone magpie for example 😂 as @Janefx40 says, it isn't a sign and I hope you have some respite for the worry today after seeing baby!

Everything I've read says go in if you think something is wrong, so also don't feel silly Jane!

I think someone else has a scan today, @Anoushka1986 was it you? If so, good luck to everyone!

I THINK I may have felt some movement yesterday! It wasn't gas, it felt first like two tiny little bumps and then something like a swirl after that. I'm 18 weeks and convinced myself I have an anterior placenta (I have no idea really) so didn't expect to feel anything. Maybe it's still too early? Either way I'm desperate to feel it again!

MO22 · 21/12/2022 08:47

Those that are feeling movements now, when did you start?

Anoushka1986 · 21/12/2022 08:50

One thing that has helped me when I've been feeling anxious is reminding myself that at every step along the way I've been convinced that the worst will happen and every time I've been wrong. Early on I was convinced pregnancy was ectopic, then that became evidently untrue. Then I was sure I would lose baby first trimester, then the first trimester passed. When having the harmony test I was convinced that it would come back high risk and it didn't.

So far evidence is suggesting that every time my mind has convinced me that something bad is going to happen, it's been untrue so it's more likely a sign that my mind has a pattern of telling me lies.

Anoushka1986 · 21/12/2022 08:53

@MO22 no not me! My scan is on the 9th of January.

I think I started feeling movement maybe a week ago? So that would be 16 weeks. This is my second pregnancy this far along though. It's so hard to tell because it could be that I'm so desperate to feel something that I'm not sure if I'm just telling myself that normal bodily functions are movement.
It's definitely not regular, can go days without feeling anything.

MO22 · 21/12/2022 08:55

Oh sorry, i'm sure there is someone else today! Good luck whoever it is.

Mine is on the 12th Jan @Anoushka1986 so good to know someone else has to wait until after Christmas too 😂 hoping it will fly by.

Melusina123 · 21/12/2022 09:05

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl and @Blue2020 have scans today (or this week), I think @MO22 ? And @MRSDoos . Good luck everyone, fingers crossed for a wonderful Christmas present. :)

I started feeling what I think was movement at around 16wks but wasn't fairly confident it was movement until 18 and it didn't become distinctly movementy until 19ish. But as I've said elsewhere I expected to be on the early end due to being quite attuned to the goings-on of my stomach/gut. Now at almost 21wks I'm feeling something to some extent every day. The temptation is real to just get into the sweets constantly as that does seem to get them moving. 😂

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 21/12/2022 09:07

@mo22 only a few days ago (so 18 and a half ish) and only when lying flat on my back after eating and drinking. Especially cold water or orange juice! Hand on my lower belly under belly button. Like a flick, roll, or muscle spasm feeling.

@Melusina123 mine is tomorrow ☺️

MO22 · 21/12/2022 09:15

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl ah good luck tomorrow!

That's exactly like what I felt! I was on my back after a bath that might have been a tiny bit hot (have no water so had to use a kettle...) with my hand on my lower stomach and a flick or roll was exactly how I'd describe it!

Once you felt it, did you start to notice it more often?

MO22 · 21/12/2022 09:15

@Melusina123 I hadn't thought of the sweets haha 👀

Melusina123 · 21/12/2022 09:21

@MO22 I had half a Costa tiffin to settle the nerves before my scan and the sonographer reckoned that was why Grogu was going wild while she was trying to scan them. 😂 Bit of a perverse incentive to eat unhealthily!

I definitely feel movements more when lying on my back in the evening too.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl good luck for tomorrow. :)

Blue2020 · 21/12/2022 09:22

@Melusina123 yes mine is today, Thankyou. I feel nervous now it’s here. I think my first thought is still going to be- is there a heartbeat.

Melusina123 · 21/12/2022 09:24

@Blue2020 good luck! I'm sure they'll reassure you about the heartbeat super quickly. I told our sonographer I was very anxious and she was great, explained what she was doing and reassured me fast about everything she was looking at.

MRSDoos · 21/12/2022 10:14

So the hospital phoned me at 8:30 this morning, said the machine is fixed and can I be there in 30 mins!!

Baby boy looked perfect - so so relieved!

northerngal20 · 21/12/2022 10:16

good luck today @MRSDoos and @Blue2020 !! Hope all goes well and you'll both be really reassured going into Christmas!

Thanks @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl that's what i needed to hear - was being completely irrational! should definitely trust the professionals to know what they're doing. I just so want to feel something now to know all is ok!

@Melusina123 haha about the tiffin! i have to say i sometimes opt for juice over water and an help myself to an extra biscuit when i'm not hungry just incase that prompts a little bit of kicking..! probs not a good habit to get into! 😆

northerngal20 · 21/12/2022 10:17

ahh @MRSDoos that's wonderful news!!! you must be so pleased!!

Melusina123 · 21/12/2022 10:28

@MRSDoos 🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊 what an amazing Christmas present!! 💙💙💙 So pleased for you.

@northerngal20 definitely not a good habit but on the other hand one has to give up so much when pregnant (soft cheese, alcohol, saunas, rollercoasters...), have the sweets, I say!

MRSDoos · 21/12/2022 10:36

Thank you for everyone for being supportive, and good luck to everyone else with scans today / coming up xx

Blue2020 · 21/12/2022 12:12

@MRSDoos that’s great news about your scan.

Mine went well, everything is fine and we found out we are having a boy. The placenta is covering the cervix, which is early days and might move later on.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 21/12/2022 13:07

Congratulations @Blue2020 and @MRSDoos !!! Boys boys boys!

Janefx40 · 21/12/2022 13:19

Congratulations @MRSDoos and @Blue2020 great news for both of you.

@Blue2020 my placenta was covering my cervix with my DD and the hospital made a big thing of it and told me I'd need a c-section etc and then it moved and all was fine (although I ended up with a section anyway for different reasons!). I think it normally does move.

Xxx

MO22 · 21/12/2022 14:58

Congratulations everyone! Such nice news ❤️

Blue2020 · 21/12/2022 16:12

@Janefx40 thats good to hear. They said I would have another scan at 32 weeks to check the position.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 22/12/2022 10:22

All well at 19weeks 😊 need to go back in a few weeks as one measurement couldn't be obtained (baby was comfy and wouldn't move for them to get the angle they need!)

MRSDoos · 22/12/2022 10:40

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl brilliant news xx
