@annlee3817 I just massaged them for ages and milk was oozing out itself. I have her on that side now so hopefully she'll work her magic. Will try the hand express next time. I stupidly left it too long but need my sleep!! How are you coping with feeding?? Is your partner helping or are you solely Bf? Thank you so much

annlee3817 · 19/09/2022 08:09

@Butterflytulip DH helps in the night, we've been giving her formula before we go to bed and then once in the night, but I always start her off on the breast whilst he makes up the formula, doing it this way as want her used to the bottle when he takes over when I go back to work, and with cluster feeding I don't get much time to express in the day. It's getting better though, I do love the Kellymom website still for normalising anything I'm worried about.

Butterflytulip · 19/09/2022 08:13

@annlee3817 we do the same and offer breast, expressed milk in bottle and formula. Also want her used to bottle even though most websites say no to pumping or using bottle (nipple confusion) for first 6 weeks.
How many feeds is your little one doing during night?
My little girl is 2.5 weeks and usually wakes herself now after 3 hrs for feed. Think the formula keeps them satisfied longer?? Must remember to give the vit d drops! Off to add Kelly mom on insta!!

annlee3817 · 19/09/2022 08:17

@Butterflytulip it's hit and miss, some nights she'll go 3 hours, others just 2 hours, formula nights tend to be a little better. She's 3.1 weeks now, so not far off you :) the midwives I've found have been more supportive of combi feeding this time, I was made to feel guilty last time and stopped the bottle.

3 hours is great! Makes such a difference to how you feel doesn't it :)

Butterflytulip · 19/09/2022 08:20

@annlee3817 sorry for all the questions!!! How alert is your little girl?
Ours in first 10 days post section just slept and barely opened eyes. Now eyes open a bit but still not loads, still sleepy. I was so worried but HV and MW say all is fine and that's she's just a chilled sleepy baby!

annlee3817 · 19/09/2022 08:24

@Butterflytulip don't be sorry, she was very sleepy in the beginning and I was struggling to get her to feed. Couldn't get her to.latch for 24 hours when my milk came in. She has days where she is more alert and other days when she just sleeps. I strip down to her vest If she's dopey and not feeding much, or open the window to allow cool air into the room.

Butterflytulip · 19/09/2022 08:25

@annlee3817 fab tip thank you again xx

Sabiina · 19/09/2022 10:35

Congrats to all of you.

My baby girl arrived on the 10th. After being induced on the Tuesday they broke my water on Friday. Had the epidural which didn’t work fully, (they Had bent it so didn’t work on one side) in the end I had to have the spinal so couldn’t feel a thing and assisted delivery with forceps.
She was fine during this whole process and came out weighing just over 4kg (8.9 pounds)

Im only breastfeeding and she lost a bit of weight but gaining it back now.
The only thing now is she doesn’t wanna poop, however she passes gas fine and is not in pain or anything. Also she is eating every hour-2.5 hours 🙈😴

annlee3817 · 19/09/2022 12:36

Congratulations @Sabiina

Cycling the legs can sometimes help them go if you haven't tried it already, think it's common though

madeleine85 · 19/09/2022 16:03

Congratulations to all the new mums ❤️❤️

@Sabiina my new one is an 8x a day pooper… my first was a once every 8 days pooper. They’re all different and my doctor wasn’t worried unless she went to 2 weeks, which fortunately we never did! The downside is the giant poop at the end of 8 days. We had to throw out several onesies I remember 😂

Sabiina · 19/09/2022 16:24

@annlee3817 thank you yes we are doing that. :)

@madeleine85 aww thank you, feels good hearing that, I wasn’t worried but then the lady who helped me with breastfeeding said she should poop at least once a day, called 111 today just to check and had video call with doctor and they said just like me, she doesn’t seem bothered and she has plenty of wee nappies and is settled so nothings to worry about.

Going back to weigh her tomorrow and hoping she keeps putting weight on 🤞🏻🤞🏻

MummyToBe2022 · 19/09/2022 18:38

Congratulations to all the new mummy's so many comments to catch up on.

I'm breast feeding my little boy. He will cluster feed from 10-4 at night so I'm exhausted.

Not getting much when I express so not really done much of that and he did have a slightly better night last night.

He's been more alert today and we have played on his playmat and he enjoys singing.

With my first I could fill a full 9oz bottle within 5 minutes. I barely even managed 14oz yesterday trying for 20 minutes but I'm sure it will get better soon.

Sorry I'm babbling now 😂 enjoy your babies

Butterflytulip · 19/09/2022 21:24

@MummyToBe2022 are you sore?? I just have little one aptamil to give my boobs a break!

MummyToBe2022 · 19/09/2022 21:48

@Butterflytulip luckily I'm not sore.

Going to try and express again tomorrow. Think I was putting too much pressure on myself yesterday

Butterflytulip · 20/09/2022 08:19

@MummyToBe2022 @annlee3817 sorry I don't mean to turn this page into breast feeding suppose but omg we were up nearly every hr last night! Most feeds short around 15-20 minutes which I cope well with. The 4am feed lasted an hr! I was so uncomfortable and just found myself wishing she would hurry and finish. Does this get easier? Couldn't BF my first so iv no clue. I keep thinking if I manage for another week and few days I will have achieved a month. How the hell do people BF for months and even years ?!!! Help !!

Butterflytulip · 20/09/2022 08:19

*support

annlee3817 · 20/09/2022 08:42

@Butterflytulip it does get better, you'll always have slightly crap phases in between when the have growth spurts, poorly or sleep regression, but it definitely improves. I breastfed for eight months last time, DD was an appalling sleeper unfortunately, but sleep training helped us with that at around seven months, a bottle wouldn't have changed it

Butterflytulip · 20/09/2022 08:48

@annlee3817 well done you!! Your one of those super BF mums!! I initially wanted to get to 3 months and I hope I still do. It's so hard, seeing others BF - they make it look so easy!!

annlee3817 · 20/09/2022 08:50

@Butterflytulip lol not quite, she was a bottle refuser! Took us two months to get her to take one and a lot of milk and formula went down the drain! It's why I'm combi feeding already

annlee3817 · 20/09/2022 08:51

@Butterflytulip you're doing great at almost three weeks in :)

Butterflytulip · 20/09/2022 09:02

Thank you @annlee3817 I like knowing she'll take a bottle too as it'll be easier to wean off the boob... in theory

newmumtotwo24 · 20/09/2022 10:47

@Butterflytulip your doing great!! It is super hard when they want to feed so often and for so long. I wanted to give up loads with my first in the early days because it stressed me out so much. But it got easier and really enjoyable.
With baby I've just had we're currently majorly struggling with latch and it took 45mins to get on at 1030 last night, most of which she was screaming through. It was definitely a stressful night last night.

Butterflytulip · 20/09/2022 15:44

Oh no @newmumtotwo24 you did so good to persevere. We had posterior tongue tie, nothing major but did opt to get it sorted. Really hope your right about it getting easier 🤞🤞

annlee3817 · 20/09/2022 16:31

@newmumtotwo24 have you tried this position? Midwife recommended it to me when I couldn't latch her for 24 hours

@annlee3817 must try that one myself 😊
