How is everyone doing? Sorry I've been a bit quiet on here, kinda lost my energy for writing on Mumsnet, but I've been following all your news and updates! I had a scan yesterday at 16+5 and my baby boy looks like a little alien! Incredible to see though!
My sickness has now gone in 2nd trimester, but it's been replaced by the occasional (horrendous) migraine, a bit of back ache and a lot of hormonal tears! Bump still looks like fat, I'm still waiting to pop! They measured my iron and I'm even lower than I was last time despite taking iron tablets! Trying to eat a lot of spinach and meat! I'm also obsessed with watching birth videos on YouTube - anyone else? Sending you all love xox

thatismahogany · 07/10/2022 08:24

@EasterBunny7 I'm so glad you've come back to update us. Your post made me demand the GP send a urine sample when I got my back/abdo pain even though the dip was clear, in case I was presenting with unusual symptoms so thank you for that. I hope you do pop into the thread every now and then when you feel like it. Sending love and hugs x

thatismahogany · 07/10/2022 08:29

@flowersinmay great news about the scan. I'm still suffering with nausea unfortunately but if migraines are the alternative... 😬 I really feel for you, and hope it all settles down soon. Are you taking anything for the migraines? And I'm 16+5 and still playing "bump or bloat?" every day 😂

flowersinmay · 07/10/2022 08:56

@thatismahogany aww you poor thing! Hope it goes soon! We are not far apart - I've just hit 17 weeks today! I take a paracetamol 500mg but to be honest it never touches the sides! Coca Cola helps a bit! But otherwise just need to get through it. Ahhh all worth it in the end! Xox

Happycroc · 08/10/2022 13:12

Hi all, how is everyone doing this weekend? I’ve just had my screening results back and I’m so relieved, DS was 1 in 7.5k and edwards 1 in 100k. 13 weeks today so 2nd trimester here we come!

Coops0406 · 10/10/2022 17:49

@EasterBunny7 thinking of you and thank you for sharing with us 🥰

@Happycroc that great news! Is that from the normal nhs screening tests?
I have my 12 week scan this Wednesday, how long after the screening do you get the results?

Happycroc · 10/10/2022 17:53

Hi @Coops0406, that’s exciting! Yes just the NHS combined screening, personally I wouldn’t go for anything more in depth unless the risks came back high. I’m sure it very much depends on your local trust, they post them but will call if there is anything of concern or that needs raising. From my experience of last time the call came within a couple of days, the postal results take about a week usually but if you don’t get a call then take it as no news is good news x

Coops0406 · 10/10/2022 18:16

@Happycroc that's great, thanks for that info

Coops0406 · 14/10/2022 17:26

I hope everyone is doing well this week 😊

We had our 12 week scan, all good and sonographer was so lovely...really reassuring before she started and just let us watch baby doing it's thing for ages. She kept speaking to him/her which was so cute! I can't believe the difference from 10 weeks...we could see fingers and even see quite a face structure! Have posted a pic...is it me or does it look like there's a clear eye socket??? I feel like I can see the nose and everything!

Our due date has moved forward by a couple of days too. She took the NT measurement which I think was in the normal range, just waiting for bloods to come back to see the risk level for downs, patau's and turner's.

Had no idea the scan pics would cost £5 each! 🤦🏾‍♀️ we paid for 2 but she actually gave us 5 which was so nice!

Having stopped all meds, they have put me back on blood thinning injections as well as 159mg aspirin...I think to do with having had covid, the family history of clotting, going on holiday next week and other risks due to age and ethnicity! At least it's only one injection!

Happycroc · 14/10/2022 18:19

what a great scan pic @Coops0406! Our booking letter said photos cost £8 each but we weren’t charged, I think I’ve always been told there’s a cost but never actually had to pay. Glad you got a couple of bonus days too, did they know it was ivf? They don’t usually live dates for ivf pregnancies and I had to remind them of that a few times with my last pregnancy!

Coops0406 · 14/10/2022 18:42

@Happycroc yeah she said even though it's ivf they always go off the dating scan, which I thought was odd. I think I'll be pleased as we get to that time as so many people are ready to be born and luckily with ivf they won't let go over!
I think next time I'll say I don't want any and see what they do as this time they were already printed before we said we wanted some!

Agapanthus13 · 15/10/2022 09:45

@Coops0406 aww what a lovely scan experience, and lovely clear scan pic! Are you feeling fully recovered from your bout of Covid? That’s good to hear they’ve reviewed your blood thinners. Was that the consultant you saw who made that decision?
my date got moved forward too and they said they do that regardless of Ivf. My moved by 4days.

How are you getting on @Happycroc ?

im 15+4 today but don’t feel at all pregnant. All my symptoms have now gone bar a feeling tied and migraines. My husband keeps trying to reassure me, but it’s not really helping. Wishing I had something coming up soon to check. My 16week appointment isn’t until I’m 18+4 and then my 20weeks scan is bang on 20weeks.
Anyone else feeling the same? I just keep worrying little beans no longer there.

JessLaw96 · 15/10/2022 09:49

Good to see everyone doing well and all these lovely updates.
I had my 12 week scan a week ago and it was so lovely to see have a proper wriggler and stretched out baby on my hands!

@Agapanthus13 I dont like the gap in between appointments either, I have to wait now until November for my next scan and my next normal appointment feels ages away even though its a couple of weeks.

Im now 13w5d and feeling a lot better in myself just tired! I have a bump now which I wasn’t expecting for a few weeks yet but its nice to have to actually feel pregnant

Happycroc · 15/10/2022 09:59

@Agapanthus13 i could have written that post exactly! I’m definitely showing but (except utter exhaustion) feel completely fine. Hopefully we’ll start to feel movements in a few weeks time and that is the ultimate reassurance (although I didn’t feel either of my others until after 20 weeks so I might be waiting a while!)

ChristmasJumpers · 15/10/2022 16:37

We had our private gender scan this afternoon and all my dreams have come true, we have a little girl 😍🥰 I'm a crying mess 🥺

Happycroc · 15/10/2022 18:55

Congratulations @ChristmasJumpers

I probably shouldn’t say I have a preference but having one of each I would quite like another girl! We won’t be finding out and it doesn’t really matter either way but my DD is easier than DS and I have so many gorgeous girls clothes (many many hand me downs) which I’d love to go through again! DH thinks we’ll definitely have a boy!

Agapanthus13 · 16/10/2022 08:02

Awww congratulations @ChristmasJumpers That’s wonderful news 💕 how many weeks are you now? Sorry, I should know but is this your first! How are you feeling otherwise?

@Happycroc @JessLaw96 thank you both for your replies. I managed to switch out of doom & gloom mode and convince myself bambino is still there. I think the roller coaster ivf makes you so worried that somethings going to go wrong?!

@JessLaw96 glad to hear you’re starting to feel better. I had no idea the first trimester was going to be soo rough! must be so lovely to have a bump! Have you told many people yet or are you having to cover up? We started telling family last weekend and friends this weekend, been so much fun. I find my tummy is pretty flat general but if I have a glass of water I suddenly have a bump so don’t think it will be too much longer until it’s there all the time. Saying that none of my work trousers fit and I am struggling with what to wear.
anyone found a good place to buy smart maternity clothes?

@Happycroc what do movements feel like? I keep desperately hoping!. A couple of times I’ve felt what feels a little like someone lightly flicking me from inside, makes me feel a little queezy so guessing it’s my body stretching but it’s right in the middle of my tummy so did wonder if it could be bambino? have you told your little ones yet that they’re getting a sibling? Bet they’re over the moon? My little nephews are soo excited to be ‘big brothers’ we keep trying to explain to them they’ll be cousins but they don’t get it 🤣

ChristmasJumpers · 16/10/2022 08:44

@Agapanthus13 thank you, I'm 16+3 today. It is our first and probably only as I'm not sure I could go through (or afford) another round of IVF!!

The scan was so magical, worlds away from the NHS ones. I have been on and off happy crying ever since!

Coops0406 · 16/10/2022 09:20

@Agapanthus13 I'm still coughing and bunged up but been negative since Monday. My other half had to sleep in the spare room because I was coughing all night on Wednesday! Just a painful, annoying, dry cough!! But aside from that I feel fine.
Strange how different places do different things re: due date with ivf! But at least I know they will have to be out by 20th April!

I love about your nephews thinking they will be big brothers! My nephew says he doesn't want another cousin as he already has 3 (from his mum's side) but bizarrely I'm his favourite person at the moment...which I think is to do with me having a baby in my tummy! Which he is still so confused about 🤣

@JessLaw96 glad everything went well with the scan!! It's so much reassurance to have the 12 week scan. I noticed that I'm now showing...but slim in a morning (with a couple of little rolls of fat!) but after my first bit of any food I just pop out, and by the evening it looks like I'm 6 months pregnant and got no rolls of fat 🤣

@Happycroc how many weeks are you? I'm only 13w3d so I thought it was really early for me to show!

@ChristmasJumpers how wonderful!! A little pink! The scan is beautiful and I bet it's so nice knowing and talking to your little girl 💕

Also guys, I don't know if any of you have even started looking at things, but I realised there's no need for a brand new pram so looked at a few online and reviews then went on Facebook marketplace...absolute bargains for some amazing prams! I had no idea you could get such good stuff!!

Happycroc · 16/10/2022 09:28

@Agapanthus13 at firth like flutters or popping (but easily confused for wind!) I remember feeling something a few times and it wasn’t until it became more consistent that I realised what it actually was!

we told the little people after the 12 week scan, the 5yo is very excited, the 1 (very nearly 2yo) shouted NOOO although they don’t really know what it meant and now if you ask where the baby is they point at my belly!

@Coops0406 I couldn’t agree more that there is no need to buy a new travel system! We spent the price of a small car on our first pram set and honestly it was definitely not worth it! We usually move from that to the cheap “holiday” pram we bought very quickly and the very expensive one sits in the garage!

EmzieMurf1987 · 16/10/2022 09:50

Morning ladies sorry I’ve not been very present I had a bit of a break from mumsnet.

@ChristmasJumpers how lovely to see your having a little girl!! Amazing news and congratulations! 💕

@Coops0406 lovely news on your 12 week scan, it feels like such a milestone doesn’t it!! And glad to hear you are now testing negative for covid.

@Happycroc also amazing news on your results too xx

@JessLaw96 totally possible to have a bump at 13 weeks, I had one at 11 weeks and by 14 was in maternity clothes 😂😂 it’s my first and I was shocked but I love dressing to show it off! ❤️

@Agapanthus13 my movements first started with what felt like little flicks from the inside and now I know they were definitely the baby moving! As the weeks have gone on they have become more frequent and stronger! They feel like pops now! So amazing to feel ❤️ This last week I’ve felt them every time I’ve been sat down or lying in bed in the evening and through the night it’s magical. They are currently moving away right now as I’m sat here in bed!! Still can’t feel or see it from the outside yet but hoping it won’t be too long before I can share this amazing experience with DH. Funnily enough every time I feel baby move DH puts his hands on my belly and baby stops moving!! The little bugger 😂😂

tomorrow will be another huge milestone for me as il be 20 weeks and half way there!! I can’t believe it and now I’m wondering where the time has gone! We have our 20 week abnormality scan this week too 🤞🏼🤞🏼

we have finally started the nursery now too and DH did the first coat of paint yesterday! Starting to feel like this might actually happen for us and that we actually need to start buys things and preparing for little ones arrival 😬 we are off to a baby and toddler event in a few weeks so hoping to test lots of prams/car seats etc as I’m a bit old skool and need to see stuff in person and touch and test it out first so hoping this will give us some ideas on what we want.

so glad to hear everyone is progressing well even if some of you do still feel a bit rubbish, lots of love xx

JessLaw96 · 16/10/2022 09:58

Thanks everyone ❤️
@Agapanthus13 we have told everyone now, because we thought even if things went a different way we would still tell for support so wanted to enjoy it but only told over the last couple weeks! So its nice not having to cover it up! have you told people?

@EmzieMurf1987 oh did you! Mine was one and off from 11 weeks then at 12 it was all the time morning mid day evening! And its just stayed consistent which I like!

Gracie2021 · 16/10/2022 11:29

Hi everyone. Great to see all the updates.

We've told most people now too @JessLaw96 but have asked them to keep it quiet as I'm out of work til late next week and still need to tell my boss. Don't think not telling was an option much longer as after lunch the belly is out massively! Hope ye had fun telling everyone? So glad your scan went well too.

Best of luck for your scan this week @EmzieMurf1987 that's such a massive milestone. It's actually the next big one I'm on the countdown too. So exciting that you've been feeling movement too. I can't wait for that. What week did you first feel them? I'm the same about needing to feel and try out things in person but after doing that Defo going to try like Happycroc and Coop and see what I can pick up second hand.

Glad you're coming through the other side of COVID @Coops0406! I'm a couple days ahead of you and same with the bump. Hardly anything in yhe morning but could be 6 months by bedtime!

Massive congrats on your little girl @ChristmasJumpers that's so amazing. Did you have a feeling one way or the other what you might be having? I'm convinced it's a boy here even though I have no reason why at all.....

Glad you're feeling a bit better @Agapanthus13 have those days myself when I'm convinced it was all a dream. I've heard people say that once you have movement it really helps but it also seems to me to be one more thing to worry about if they go quiet for a day etc... I've invested in some stretchy midi winter dresses. I'll have told work by the time I wear them in and after so many years hiding the belly anytime it's not feeling flat I'm all about embracing and flaunting whatever bump I'm rocking 😂😂

Gracie2021 · 16/10/2022 11:35

@thatismahogany how are you doing with the pain and the rest? Hope you're recovering.

@flowersinmay meant to say I've started having the most horrendous second trimester headaches. Not full blown migraines but have found an ice head mask off Amazon that really helps as I'm trying to only take stuff for it when absolutely dote. Anyway said I'm mention it in case you're still suffering with them.

Gracie2021 · 16/10/2022 11:35

Dire not dote*
