@Coops0406 thank you! So exciting you get to meet your baby soon 😊

Happycroc · 10/04/2023 01:32

Well, we started with plan A, quickly moved to B and so on until we hit to plan Z and had a little boy, born by c section, on Saturday afternoon.

little guy was making some noises breathing when he arrived so he was whisked off to a baby ward for a few agonising hours (I hadn’t even seen him at this stage). Reunited 3+ hours later.

we’re still in hospital and will be until he is off antibiotics and we get some culture results which take 48hours.

so, from a trip for a routine scan on weds, when I thought we’d be home in an hour, to spending Easter weekend here it’s been a whirlwind! we didn’t tell the other two where we were and they got brought in to “see mummy” today and we surprised them with their baby brother! Besotted doesn’t even cover it!

Happycroc · 10/04/2023 01:34

Oh, and his predicted weight having dropped off… rubbish! He was born a 8lb 8oz chunk! (However thankful we didn’t do another 3 weeks pregnant and then go through the ups and downs of the past 5 days!)

LKSF · 10/04/2023 05:55

@Happycroc Oh wow what a journey, having him in your arms now and your other two meet their little brother must be magical. Sending lots of well wishes and I hope you get discharged from hospital soon! Congratulations 💙 xx

thatismahogany · 10/04/2023 08:10

@Happycroc that must have been scary, but I'm glad he's back with you now, congratulations! I hope you both get to go home soon 😊🤞

Coops0406 · 17/04/2023 00:05

Hi all, just to let you know we had a beautiful baby boy via elective c section on Friday weighing just over 7lbs! He struggled with his sats and breathing at first, Neo natal team called in twice for him but it was the shock of the big wide world and him not being fully ready! Came home after one night in the hospital and are settling into parenthood! I can't believe we got here! 💙

PMAmostofthetime · 17/04/2023 02:24

@LKSF congratulations 🥳 💙 how are you feeling?

@Happycroc congratulations 🥳💙 hope your both doing well now?

@Coops0406 congratulations 🥳 💙 glad your both doing well.

We had a little girl by emergency c-section last Saturday 8th April. She is absolutely perfect aside from the sleepless nights

Agapanthus13 · 17/04/2023 08:33

@Happycroc @Coops0406 @PMAmostofthetime congratulations on the arrival of your little ones 💗💙sounds like quite a journey! Isn’t it wonderful to finally have them in our arms? Our little one is 3-weeks old today, honestly can’t quite believe it. Enjoy all the newborn cuddles and getting to know one another x

LKSF · 17/04/2023 18:57

Hope everyone and the bundles of joy are all doing ok 💙💗

Anyone experiencing baby blues? I’ve been very teary the past couple of days for absolutely no reason other than tiredness. Husband asks if I’m ok and I just start crying 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

PMAmostofthetime · 18/04/2023 01:16

@LKSF I'm very teary/ little things make me cry. Happy things sad things and things that shouldn't evoke an emotion 🙈😂.

Anyone breast feeding and baby is sicky? Any tips.

I thought she was over feeding as she is guzzling but I have started to make her have winding breaks after 10 mins and she's still sicky.

( so hard and painful to get her to unlatch too 🙈) x

Agapanthus13 · 18/04/2023 02:39

@LKSF i think I cried every day for the first 10days. Absolutely anything and everything set me off. Our little one is now 3weeks and I feel back to my usual self. It’s really tough going with the hormones and lack of sleep. Hopefully you’ll get there soon too but there’s loads of support through midwife & Gp if you need it xxx

@PMAmostofthetime our little one had tongue tie and lots and lots of symptoms but one was being sick a lot caused by too much gas. We were told to keep him upright for 20-40 mins post feed and wind part way through feed. Seemed Tp work well but was hard going. Post tongue tie separation he’s much better though. Friends baby had reflux and was prescribed baby gaviscon by the gp. Worth asking the midwife / gp?! Xx in the de-latching, have you tried a finger in their mouth to break the suction? Xx

LKSF · 18/04/2023 03:13

@PMAmostofthetime @Agapanthus13 Thanks - sometimes you just need the reassurance you’re not alone 😅 x

@PMAmostofthetime I found that hard too until my midwife shown me how at my appointment last week, try putting your finger under their lip of the top corner of their mouth to break the suction x

PMAmostofthetime · 18/04/2023 03:39

@Agapanthus13 @LKSF
Thank you just tried the finger de/latching and was so much less painful.
Thank you- currently 20 mins in to upright after feed :) so far so good 🤞🏼

How's your little ones? I wish I could meet them all after our journey's together 🥰
Our little darling is still nameless x

LKSF · 18/04/2023 04:48

@PMAmostofthetime Ah good, it still takes time sometimes for mine to latch on - who new breastfeeding is a skill 🙈

I was only thinking this the other day that it would be lovely if we could all meet, but I bet we’re all in completely different areas! I’m in the south west.

My husbands Latin so we just searched for Latin names and we could only agree on one, and we also liked the meaning of it. At first I was like ‘hmm am I sure I like this?!’ But now it just suits him and seems normal. I’m sure in the next few days it will just click and you’ll be like ‘yep, that’s her name 💗’ x

Agapanthus13 · 18/04/2023 07:48

@LKSF you’re def not alone! Honestly, I’ve never known anything like those few days. Hang on in there!

@PMAmostofthetime we also found over the shoulder burping best for our little boy. I think it stretches out their tummy nicely.

breast feeding has been pretty tough, such an art form for both us and baby to learn. Would def recommend seeing your infant feeding team fir extra support if you haven’t already.

on the name front we took a week and only decided as we’d had enough pressure from family wanting us to decide otherwise we’d have taken longer. 😆 don’t rush, it’s such an important decision, it will come to you in time x

thatismahogany · 19/04/2023 10:56

Congratulations @Coops0406 and @PMAmostofthetime ! 💙💗I am loving these updates!

Also our baby was (still is sometimes) quite windy and vomiting because of it. As well as the tips mentioned above, I've had some success using Infacol before feeds, she seems to have less trapped wind now. And as well as over the shoulder, sitting her up to burp her (supporting her chest with the palm of my hand with thumb and index finger supporting her chin) and then giving her time on lie on me, on her front. So I'm keeping her upright and allowing her to stretch out to work out the wind. Hope that helps x

A year on, how are you all doing? Still can't believe we got so lucky and next week I'll have a 1 year old.
Time is a thief.
Hardest BUT best Year ever x

It's crazy isn't it?? Time flies when you're having fun! My little girl turned one and has started taking a few steps so I guess she's a toddler now. And I'll be back at work soon. Really don't know where the time has gone.

I have a couple of friends having babies soon and my mind keeps thinking about another round of IVF! But I don't think that's the right move for me at the moment, we're enjoying having the one for now. How are you @PMAmostofthetime ?
