@Gracie2021 Oh yes that makes sense until you have told work! Its been really fin telling everyone just excited now to not have to hide it when shopping or talking about it!

have you had fun telling everyone?

thatismahogany · 17/10/2022 09:36

@Gracie2021 unbelievably, the pain has more or less gone! I think the fibroid must have finished degenerating because I can't feel the bulge of the fibroid anymore. I still get a few twinges here and there but I think that's normal growing pains 😄

Only thing I'm struggling with now is continued nausea (I'm 18+1 today) but still not as bad as the early weeks. I'm sorry to hear you've been having such bad headaches but I'm glad the mask off amazon is helping. I'm sure you're doing your best to stay hydrated and rest which is all you can really do apart from meds (which I understand you wanting to limit) so I hope it gets better soon

EmzieMurf1987 · 17/10/2022 10:46

Looks like I am celebrating the halfway mark with a big dose of covid 😩😩 - those that have had it in pregnancy did u tell your midwife? Just cause I feel quite poorly with it.

@Gracie2021 my first movements started around 17 weeks but it was very sporadic and I wasn’t sure what I was feeling 100%. But since week 19 onwards movements are now very regular every time I’m sat or lying down I tend to feel something. Now every time I cough I feel baby move - can’t help thinking I’m upsetting it but it is reassuring with the covid I suppose.

@JessLaw96 eeeeekkk go team bump!! I have actually found some lovely maternity clothes on Vinted at a fraction of the price in the shop - they seem to be quite expensive considering we only wear them for a short time!

@thatismahogany glad to hear your fibroid pain has gone it’s just awful! Sorry to hear your nausea is still bad though I really hope it does last the whole pregnancy for you and u can enjoy food again soon.

ChristmasJumpers · 17/10/2022 12:11

@Gracie2021 I had no idea and didn't dare to guess really! Are you finding out? Sorry if you've already said

thatismahogany · 17/10/2022 12:43

@EmzieMurf1987 I'm sorry to hear you've got covid, I hope you're managing to get lots of rest. I would tell your midwife simply so you can be reassured that they know about the situation. I know they sometimes advise pregnant women take antivirals for flu but no idea for covid. But I imagine she'll just advise you to rest, and call her or GP if you feel worse.

I've had it twice but not during pregnancy so can't advise there sorry, but I made a full recovery both times. And thank you I am definitely so relieved the fibroid seems to have gone. Next milestone will be coming off the anti-sickness meds 😅

EmzieMurf1987 · 17/10/2022 15:50

@thatismahogany thanks, I rang them and need a risk assessment tomorrow for blood thinners - I think il be low risk so won’t need them 🤞🏼🤞🏼 But I’m glad I told them now.

thatismahogany · 17/10/2022 21:00

@EmzieMurf1987 yes definitely good you called, I never considered needing blood thinners. Fingers crossed you don't need them though

Coops0406 · 17/10/2022 21:28

@EmzieMurf1987 I told them I had covid l but the lady on reception was useless and said they didn't need to know. Then at my 12 week appointment (at 13 weeks) I told them and told them I'd stopped my blood thinners with all my meds and I was put straight back on the blood thinners! I hope you aren't too ill with it and feel better soon.

@thatismahogany great news that your pain has subsided now, must be such a relief!

@Gracie2021 it's so bizarre feeling slim ish in the morning then looking huge at night! Just itching for when we can feel things!

We're off on holiday in a couple of days for our last sunshine holiday as just us two ❤️ looking forward to a nice break and a few days to do absolutely nothing!

Gracie2021 · 18/10/2022 09:17

Enjoy the holiday @Coops0406 we're just heading home after our today but I have so many nice things planned between now and Christmas I don't even mind. Are you going anywhere nice? Beware of buffet dinners. Found it so hard to get them to confirm if various things were safe or not that I was really limited in terms of what I could eat.

Great news that you're on the mend @thatismahogany although horrible to still be struggling with nausea this long. All in a good cause I know but can't be easy.

I'm actually so excited to tell work @JessLaw96 and to be that girl in the office with the bump. Watched so many people enviously over the last few years and can't believe that's me now.

You poor thing @EmzieMurf1987 are you feeling really bad with it today? Possibly not a bad idea to say it to your nursing team just in case they have any tips for navigating it. Glad you're getting sorted with the blood thinners. Movement at 17 weeks. Eek not long so. Can't wait. Thanks for the great vinted tip too.

@ChristmasJumpers definitely finding out. I have zero chill!!!

ChristmasJumpers · 20/10/2022 15:49

Having the most ridiculous moment and need to get it out somewhere where others (might) understand.

I've just seen on Facebook that a friend who just got married and planned to make a honeymoon baby, has indeed made a honeymoon baby and is 12 weeks pregnant.

I'm happy for them, it's amazing! And I'm sat here 17 weeks pregnant myself knowing how lucky I am.

Yet I'm STILL I'm sat here crying at the unfairness off the years we spent trying and the torture of the IVF process while others fall pregnant so easily. What is wrong with me?!?!

thatismahogany · 20/10/2022 17:45

@Gracie2021 and @Coops0406 thank you, definitely such a relief that the pain has gone. I honestly didn't believe the doctor when she said it could be gone in 1-2 weeks.

@ChristmasJumpers I don't venture onto social media much, but I did the other day and saw a girl I went to uni with has now had TWO beautiful, healthy babies in the time we've been trying for just one! I like her and would never in a million years wish her or her family ill, but does it feel unfair?? Yes!! I think it's normal to feel like that. It doesn't mean we're bad people. It's an awful feeling though, I hope you feel better soon

Happycroc · 21/10/2022 16:41

I completely get your feelings @ChristmasJumpers, I think if you’ve been through infertility or losses or both it’s a very very hard feeling to ever shake. No advice, just hugs!

EmzieMurf1987 · 24/10/2022 17:20

@ChristmasJumpers infertility is so unfair!! And it is ok to cry at the unfairness of it all because sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason. I think we sometimes have to grieve for ourselves and the long long journey we have had to go through to get here because it is hard and it’s unfair that others have it so easy. Hope your doing ok xx

Ended up not being able to have my 20 week scan last week due to covid and ending up in hospital but thankfully I am home now and testing negative finally!! And my scan is now for this Friday, slightly late at 21+4 but can’t wait to see baby again ❤️

Also in other news DH felt baby kick for the first time over the weekend!! We both cried and it was such a beautiful moment, really melted my heart. Little one is really starting to move and groove in there and movements are deffo getting stronger. Next stop will be seeing an elbow or foot poking out 😂😂

im thinking of purchasing a few pregnancy/birth/4th trimester books, does anyone have any recommendations?

hope all is well with everyone, it’s been a tad quiet on here recently xx

NymphaeaX · 25/10/2022 10:29

Hello all. I've been a terrible lurker but have been following all of your progress with fascination and delight. I'm not close to anyone who has ever been pregnant, and the internet doesn't have answers to all of my stupid questions so reading your stories has helped a huge amount. Like the weird sensation of not having a bump in the morning, only to be solid and protruding by the evening.

Sorry, I can't remember or quickly find who it was that mentioned that they were going to a baby show, but I appreciated learning that they were a thing! So me and DH went up to London on the train this weekend to get hands on with everything. It was overwhelming and exhausting but soooo useful. We live out in the arsehole of nowhere so there's not anywhere we can easily go to try things out in the flesh. We didn't buy much, though the deals were very tempting - it's just too soon. And unfortunately the next one is in March, so too late for us!

One thing I did buy was the Tommee Tippee pregnancy body pillow. I've been looking at the bella moon one, and read about your disappointing experiences with the Pharmedoc one. I wasn't even sure if I needed one yet (although I'm a front sleeper and that's going to get harder as time goes on). The TT one was only £30 at the show, so thought it was cheap enough to give a try, and I have to say I'm very impressed so far. It's not slippy, and has a good roundness to it that supports without being too bulky. It also coils up to be a nursing pillow and a good backrest too. Anyway, I just wanted to give back a little after getting so much from this forum.

Hope everyone is feeling well and glowing into their second trimester. We have our 20 week scan on Friday and I can feel the scanxiety growing.

EmzieMurf1987 · 25/10/2022 16:59

@NymphaeaX aw welcome to the group!! It was me that mentioned the baby show, oh I’m so glad you found it beneficial. We are going to one next weekend so I’m hoping we will get a good feel for a travel system we might like. If not I’ve heard you can make appointments in places like John Lewis for them to go through all the different brands they have.

Im glad you found a good pillow, the pharmadoc one I brought lives on the floor now 😂😂 I already had a long 6ft pillow that I’ve had for years anyway so I’ve just gone back to using that 😂😂

we are also scan buddies, I have mine on Friday too. Are you going to found out the gender? We are still firmly opting for a surprise 💛

Gracie2021 · 26/10/2022 14:15

Welcome @NymphaeaX and thanks for the tip on the pregnancy pillow. I've decided I don't need one for now no stead what I needed was a few soft cotton bra tops to sleep in and that's made a big difference. Have to laugh, have gone from that person who couldn't wait to get the bra off at the end of the day to being unable to go without some kind of support at any time 😂🙈 on a separate note to my tangent above, crossing the fingers for you for your scan tomorrow. Halfway. What a milestone.

@EmzieMurf1987 I actually found the pharmedoc pillow bad enough that I felt justified returning it. Still waiting to see if I get my money back but time will tell. Repackaging it was a hoot I can tell you 🙈🙈 so glad you got through Covid ok and are on the mend and good luck tomorrow too. Enjoy seeing baby!!

@thatismahogany yay thrilled that's behind you. What a nasty start to things. How are you feeling these days?

@ChristmasJumpers nothing wrong with you at all. It's so so normal. I'm the exact same. So happy to be where I am but still see other announcing where it seems like they got there easily and have to push back the comparisons and the envy.

ChristmasJumpers · 26/10/2022 14:20

Thanks everyone, I let myself have a cry and now back to getting on with it! I am particularly emotional now though, usually proper sobbing at silly tiktok videos or adverts on the telly 😂

@gracie2021 I have been wearing sports bras to bed as they're all I've found that are comfortable enough and good enough support

Gracie2021 · 26/10/2022 14:25

That's good @ChristmasJumpers have all the feels. Tbh I'm the exact opposite. I'm the most chilled I've been in months. As tons worse on IVF. Has me thinking it's a boy as midwife tales says hormonal = girl and chill = boy I think.... same as you, any kind of support is good although I'm down to only one of my current bras fitting me. Think I need to get brave and do a shopping day in town soon.

ChristmasJumpers · 26/10/2022 14:27

@Gracie2021 possibly true as I am having a girl 🤣 I was relatively relaxed through IVF apart from egg collection and the 5 days after which were hell. It really surprised me how chilled I was. I'm paying for it now haha

Gracie2021 · 26/10/2022 14:49

16 week scan on Tuesday. Probably too early but will find out the sex if the doctor can tell. Dying to know now and definitely have an inkling it's a boy. Time will tell. Interestingly acne/spots are meant to indicate a girl too and clear skin a boy which I have too. Who knows. 50:50 odds anyway 😂 lucky you being chill through IVF, those hormones sent me loopy half the time. Didn't help that I spent so long on them between all the various legs of it. Have you started buying any bits for your wee girl yet?

EmzieMurf1987 · 26/10/2022 16:47

@Gracie2021 I can imagine that was no easy task re-packing that!! I hope u get your money back 🤞🏼. Yes very looking forward to seeing baby again, just a bit sad as DH can’t be there. I’m convinced they are going to tell me baby is massive and in the 90th centile or something as everyone seems to like commenting on how huge my bump is - at first I found it amusing but now it’s getting a bit old and starting to worry me 😬😬 I think as long as baby is in a good position they can tell u the gender at 16 weeks, I take it you want to find out. Ooooooo can’t wait to hear what you are having! I wonder if the inkling is true 💙💗

@ChristmasJumpers I’ve been super emotional too, I can’t even watch the news as it makes me cry these days!! But I’m convinced il have a boy 🤷🏼‍♀️ These old wives tales are funny. At least we can blame our emotional outbursts on being hormonal!! That’s what I do when it happens at work anyway 😂😂

NymphaeaX · 28/10/2022 09:38

@EmzieMurf1987 Looking forward to hearing how your scan goes today. We will be finding out the gender, DH and I have never been one for surprises. Im such a catastrophist so as much information I can have to ward off the demons, the better! Though reading about all the things they check for on the 20 week scan you have to wonder how babies come out so normal when there’s so much that can go wrong! 😫We’ll be happy to have a healthy baby, whatever the flavour. So naturally the baby anxiety dreams have started - one trying to change nappies when the baby turned into a black kitten(!) and another where I had to leave the baby with someone and when I came back she was all grown up and someone had named her Immolent!

@Gracie2021 thanks for the well wishes! Can’t quite believe I’m half way through. I wear a tight fitting strappy top in bed these days because my already unwieldy boobs are seriously in the way. Probably TMI but hubby keeps trapping them under him when we’re cuddling! 😂 My skin has been terrible and my emotions have been all over the place, so we’ll see today if the old wives tales are true and it’s a girl!

How’s everyone getting on with feeling movement? I realise now there’s lots of April dues here so maybe it’s too early for most of you. I’ve had gassy type rolls for a couple of weeks now, and times when it’s noticeably shifted and is firmer to the top or to one side. But the last few days I’ve been feeling little tiny pops or twitches really low down, right near the pubic bone. Normally I’d put them down to muscle twitches, but wondering if it’s likely to be baby’s decisive pokes. Feels like it should be higher though. DH and I are on bump watch most mornings trying to see movement from the outside but nothing decisive yet.

thatismahogany · 28/10/2022 13:44

Welcome @NymphaeaX , thanks for the tip, I might have to look into that pregnancy pillow, my husband says I have rolled onto my back a few times when I'm asleep. And I have felt little pops or flutters which I thought I might be imagining, but they consistently happen around the same time of day (and sometimes at night) in my lower left and middle abdomen. I hope it is movement! I felt a similar movement when I sneezed the other day so maybe I woke them up 😂
Good luck with your scan today

@Gracie2021 the nausea has greatly reduced. It's so strange, it's like a switch has flicked. I still have random days where I think everything is gross and have little appetite, but I make up for it with the days I eat loads! Also, at my 16 week scan they could tell the gender! But we already knew from the harmony test (but we're keeping it secret for now)!

@EmzieMurf1987 good luck for your scan today

I have a wedding coming up this weekend where I have to hide my stomach (mostly bloat I think, because my body forgot what it's like for me to eat so much)! And explain why I am, yet again, not drinking 😬the venue's so close I could walk if I wanted to, so that's not an excuse this time. Any bump/bloat hiding tips appreciated, too late to get a new dress though. Maybe I can hold a large handbag the whole night? That's what they do on tv lol

KLC1 · 28/10/2022 17:19

Hi everyone,

The nerves ahead of the 20 weeks scan (Nov 8th) are unbelievable. I've booked for another private scan next week for reassurance. Really wish they did some sort of loyalty discount!

Anyone here got low PAPP-A experience? I'm in 150mg aspirin each night but thats a worry. Doppler booked for the end of November and extra monitoring scans past 32 weeks.

Couple that with an anterior placenta so no movement yet at 18+6, and I feel like I am really being tested! Anyone with an anterior placenta can tell me when you started to feel movement?

Xxx

ChristmasJumpers · 29/10/2022 09:40

@EmzieMurf1987 how was your scan? I hope it went well! Mine is 7th Nov, feels like an age away!!

@klc1 I have an anterior placenta too and feeling nothing at 18+2 so I'm interested to hear from others.

Anyone else got indigestion at this stage? I'm not feeling sick anymore but struggling to eat because it sets off my indigestion! Still on tiny meals whenever I feel like I can eat
