@Gracie2021 you're right and when I spoke to somebody more senior at work today they were very understanding. Nobody has said anything about additional monitoring so I think I'll have to be my own best advocate and if I have any concerns at all call the midwife/GP or go back to the hospital. And the "background" pain is a bit better thank you, but it's still unexpectedly flaring up so definitely needed the time off because it stops me in my tracks

@Happycroc as above really. I've just been in bed most of the day resting and I've now moved to the sofa for a change of scenery. 😂Not sure how I'd cope with a normal amount of activity though

Happycroc · 03/10/2022 20:29

@thatismahogany ☹️ I hope it eases soon x

@JessLaw96 yes! I’m so glad I was booked in so soon after turning 12 weeks otherwise I might have sent myself completely crazy. I’m stressing about it. I just so want everything to be fine. I want to tell our kids why mummy keeps telling them not to bounce on my belly!

Gracie2021 · 04/10/2022 12:23

12 week scan today at 11+6 and thankfully all is ok. Got to see the little baba stretching and swallowing and all and got to meet our consultant and nurse team who are lovely. The relief!!!!

@Happycroc really hope yours goes well today too! Will look up the cheaper pillows. That pricy one was awful so clearly price isn't the indicator of a good one. Good find with yours @JessLaw96!

Glad you got sorted with work @thatismahogany and that they were understanding. Always makes it so much easier. Hope the pain keeps getting better. Did they say how long it could take to resolve? Do you need any tv recommendations of anything to keep you occupied?

Happycroc · 04/10/2022 12:48

That’s awesome @Gracie2021

happy healthy 12 week scan for me today too, measured 2 days ahead so I’ve gained a couple of bonus days!

I have been put on 150mg of Asian today due to DC1 being small. I had a low PAPP-A with DC2 so I was/ will expect the same result and was expecting to be on aspirin. NT measurement looked good too. I burst in tears and the sonographer was really lovely and let us watch the little one for ages and ages, I think because I was obviously a nervous wreck!

So glad it went well for you @Happycroc how amazing. Glad they gave you plenty of time as well. Mine was quicker than the last one in the clinic but once we got to see him/her move a bit I didn't mind at all. Funny enough I was told not to stop my baby aspirin and instead he doubled the dose. I think because of my funny immune bloods and potentially undiagnosed autoimmune condition. Actually glad to be on it as I've heard it can help with pre-eclampsia etc.

We also got official clearance to travel not that we needed it so off on holidays at the weekend. So excited.

Happycroc · 04/10/2022 17:30

@Gracie2021 not sure if he mentioned it but they recommended to take the aspirin in the evening with food as apparently it works better if taken at night x

thatismahogany · 04/10/2022 18:52

@Happycroc and @Gracie2021 thank you, and great news re your scans! 😊and yeah I'll take any tv recommendations. I've been watching season 2 of The Great. It's such a weird show and a great escape

JessLaw96 · 04/10/2022 20:05

@Gracie2021 & @Happycroc how amazing you have both had your scans! I cant wait for mine Saturday now!

Am I missing something, I havnt been told to take aspirin and have currently stopped the pessaries I was on and thats it!

Happycroc · 04/10/2022 20:09

@JessLaw96 my Aspirin is purely down to history, I’ll also be having growth scans from 30 weeks. Only 4 sleeps to go!

JessLaw96 · 04/10/2022 20:11

@Happycroc oh ok, I guess I wont then as this is my first pregnancy so its unknown territory and nothings flagged up so far!

EmzieMurf1987 · 04/10/2022 23:28

@Gracie2021 and @Happycroc what great news about your scans so happy for you both ❤️

@JessLaw96 good luck for yours on Saturday I’m sure all will be well. Also not on aspirin or anything now other than my vitamins 🤗

definitely think I’m feeling movement, been having more of the same feelings especially at night when I’m in bed or relaxed in the sofa ❤️

ChristmasJumpers · 05/10/2022 09:28

@JessLaw96 they decided I should go on aspirin because I have a family history of a blood clot. They have a sort of scoring system so if you hit a certain amount of risk factors then they'll recommend it. I was on the cusp and the system said no but midwife said she would recommend it anyway.
Good luck for your scan, not long now!!!

Gracie2021 · 05/10/2022 09:35

Not long til Saturday @JessLaw96 so excited for you. I'm purely on the aspirin because of the autoimmune issues so wouldn't worry about it. Seems to be specific to certain risk factors.

@EmzieMurf1987 I'm actually not missing a pregnancy pillow at all now that the sore boobs have subsided. That was really my main discomfort to date as it turns out.

@thatismahogany for laughs modern family and schitts creek if you haven't already seen either of them and nice short episodes. Virgin river although trigger warning for pregnancy and IVF stuff. I stopped watching that during IVF but will venture back in soon I think. Money Heist and lupin are both so clever.

Gracie2021 · 05/10/2022 09:36

Hit send a bit early there. Exciting about the movement @EmzieMurf1987. How many weeks are you now?

Is the pain any better @thatismahogany?

Coops0406 · 05/10/2022 12:01

@Gracie2021 great news about your scan! Must have been amazing and good to meet consultant and team looking after you! Are you next in at 16 weeks? I think I only meet a consultant at 16 weeks.

@Happycroc beautiful scan 😍 I absolutely love seeing everyone's scan pics. Although today I am crying at everything! Am full of a cold so curled up on sofa and literally everything I watch is making me emotional 🤦🏾‍♀️

@JessLaw96 I've been recommended to take 150mg aspirin when I stop my blood thinners...but when I look in the notes there are a variety of reasons they offer aspirin, one of which is ivf pregnancy! Even my sister in law was shocked when she went and they said I presume you are taking aspirin and she had no idea about it so may be worth checking. They have said the consultant may want me to stop when he sees me as it's likely I'll be on the blood thinning injections again at 28 weeks, but worth just asking them.

@EmzieMurf1987 exciting! What are the movements feeling like? I've got lots of random crampy feelings but I think it's my body stretching...blowing my nose every 2 mins is not helping at all 🤣

JessLaw96 · 05/10/2022 12:48

Thanks everyone for the wishes for my scan Saturday!

has anyone else gained a bump suddenly?
Im 12w2d and all of a sudden its there, feels early to be showing 😂

Agapanthus13 · 05/10/2022 14:04

@Gracie2021 @Happycroc sounds like you both had lovely scan experiences 💕 how funny to be on the same day too! @Happycroc what a beautiful pic

@JessLaw96 I’ve been told to take 150 aspirin too, I think she said it was due to being an ivf pregnancy but tbh I didn’t ask. Not long til you’re scan 🙌 bet you’re counting the days? Soo cute to hear you’ve got a bump, have you had lots of grown pains lately? Some days I think I have one and then others def not.

@Coops0406 sorry to hear you’ve got a cold, there are soo many bugs going around atm. Hopefully a day or two of resting is doing the trick?

@thatismahogany how are you doing? Sound like you’ve been having a really rough time with it, hope the pain is improving x

Hope everyone else is getting on well? X

JessLaw96 · 05/10/2022 14:35

@Agapanthus13 yess definitely counting down now! Cant wait. I have had twinges here and there, my bump appeared monday night I thought maybe evening bloat but doesnt seem to have gone anywhere!
how many weeks are you now? If you do somedays I reckon wont be long till its there all the time

Coops0406 · 06/10/2022 07:49

@Agapanthus13 turns out it's covid! 🤦🏾‍♀️ in a way I'm glad it's now rather than late in un pregnancy. @JessLaw96 did you just ring midwives to inform them when you had it? Yay to the bump! That's so exciting!

We've booked to go on a little sunny 5 nights away to lanzarote in a couple of weeks...Can't wait for a bit of sunshine and chill!

thatismahogany · 06/10/2022 08:24

@Gracie2021 I have seen Modern family + Schitt's Creek and they are hilarious. Not sure about Virgin River if it could be triggering, but looks like your other 2 suggestions are on Netflix so I'll have to check them out thank you 😊

@Agapanthus13 still getting pain which is more noticeable when I try to be more active. But I'm happy to say there is definitely a massive difference between when I went to A&E and now, and I do have periods with no pain. When I first got home I'd literally have to psyche myself up for ages just to roll over in bed, but now I can usually just do it but may still grit my teeth a bit 😬
Thank you for asking, I'm really grateful to you and everyone on the thread being so kind 😊

JessLaw96 · 06/10/2022 08:54

@Coops0406 I rang to tell them only because I had a appointment 2 days prior and I wasn't feeling great that day either but put it down to early pregnancy feeling. So was to let them know incase it spread to the lady we saw. I did ask some advice as well though, which it isnt a risk factor really until 28 weeks plus

Coops0406 · 06/10/2022 09:50

@JessLaw96 I rang and the woman on reception just said follow the guidance online, which she wasn't even sure of! She said I didn't need to tell them and basically shooed me off the phone! I'm guessing it's the same person who was rude the very first time I rang!
So I guess I'll speak to them when I go for my scan next week

EasterBunny7 · 06/10/2022 11:02

Hello all. I didn't want to be a story left unfinished on mumsnet. Sometimes, people read threads years later for advice, I know I do. First of all, thank you for the kind words and support. In my case, a UTI was fatal. Never underestimate something so common! I had silent UTI which means I didn't have symptoms. I also had COVID so there is a niggle in my mind that could have factored into it but doctors have not recorded that as the reason. I wish everyone the best and hope there are happy, positive posts now that I leave the group. I don't mind this thread continuing, I will probably pop in and see how everyone is getting along. Stay strong, stay healthy, be happy one and all!

@EasterBunny7 I'm so sorry again but so glad you've come back on to say hi and update us. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you're doing and if you're ok. You came so far I hope you have the strength to continue to try again (if this is what you want of course). I'm really rooting for you. I'm really sad they didn't catch the UTI and that you had Covid. I hope you come on this thread again to say hi - it's not the same without you! Sending you virtual hugs and very best wishes xoxo

Happycroc · 06/10/2022 14:50

@EasterBunny7 to echo @flowersinmay I’m still so sorry for your loss, thank you so much for coming back to update us. I have to thank you also for giving us the information about UTIs, at my booking appointment the dip stick picked up a very faint UTI and I hadn’t followed up with the midwives until I read your sad news. I had never realised how serious a uti in pregnancy can be, I’ve only ever thought of them as something I got early in my 20s and drank a lot of crabs try juice to clear. Stay strong amazing lady x
