Sorry, pressed post too soon!

@Agapanthus13 luckily i have felt it coming on so I’ve been able to get down, once was in the middle of a packed grand stand which was so embarrassing! Just hoping it doesn’t happen on the school run!

@JessLaw96 were EDD twins! 17/4 here too!

JessLaw96 · 08/09/2022 15:58

@Happycroc oh wow twins! That’s amazing! Will have to see of they have other ideas of die dates!

Happycroc · 08/09/2022 15:59

@JessLaw96 putting money on mine being 2 days late because everyone in my house is born on the 19th of something!!

JessLaw96 · 08/09/2022 16:01

@Happycroc oh are they! That’s unusual

Gracie2021 · 08/09/2022 16:06

Hi all, sorry have been busy in work and absolutely knackered and just not keeping up at all.... just doing a big catch up with you all now.

Wow haven't heard that before @XjustagirlX so sorry you're having it so bad. Are they able to give you anything to help? Slightly scared, I'm on prednisolone until twelve weeks too and have had the odd day of bad nausea but no vomiting and all in all could be a lot worse. Really hoping it doesn't suddenly jump up after stopping because I'm meant to go on hols the week after. When did you stop the prednisolone? Haven't heard that about IVF pregnancies at all either, as far as I was aware after the first trimester they tended to be treated like any other pregnancy?

@Agapanthus13 @ChristmasJumpers sorry you guys are still suffering. Are ye just about into the second trimester? Fingers crossed ye might get some relief?

@JessLaw96 so happy to see you here girl! Think we're due bang on the same time. 8+1 here today. How are you feeling?

So frustrating the service you're getting there @EasterBunny7. Did you manage to get in to your GP yet? Ridiculous!

Delighted for the good scans @flowersinmay @Happycroc @coop0406 and @thatismahogany (frustrating that the placenta went hiding but great that they're saying it's nothing to worry about). Lots for scans next week too I see, I'm actually in Monday too so fingers crossed for ye all too.

I see talk of pregnancy pillows. Any recommendations of types? I'm tempted to try the Bella Moon one. We have a U shaped one that my partner just uses 100% of the time for normal sleep but it's not for me. Feel a bit claustrophobic.

I've definitely missed so much, will do better checking in more regularly but in general glad that things are progressing well for all of ye.

ChristmasJumpers · 08/09/2022 16:17

@Gracie2021 today has been an alright day for me thankfully, less nausea 🥰 I'm never clear on when the second trimester starts, is it week 13? I'm officially 11 weeks today!

I have heard that some won't let you go past 40 weeks with IVF but never knew why. Does anyone know if you can have a water birth if you're induced? I've set my heart on it (I know there are loads of reasons it might not happen but hoping being induced isn't one of them)

JessLaw96 · 08/09/2022 16:30

@Gracie2021 literally 2 days apart! Thats so nice! Im feeling ok, nauseous and have a love hate relationship with food but could be worse I think im not that bad

EmzieMurf1987 · 08/09/2022 16:35

@flowersinmay @Coops0406 @Happycroc congratulations on your scans ladies, loving all the positive news!

@EasterBunny7 surely you should be under consultant care due to the IVF pregnancy??!! The care you have received so far sounds shocking to be honest and leaving a UTI 3 weeks is just awful! I have a face to face midwife appointment at 16 weeks booked in. I’ve already had one appointment with the consultant and will have another at 22 weeks. I don’t know if different trusts do things differently but I deffo would not be happy not seeing or speaking to someone until 25 weeks!

@Coops0406 also with care and didn’t receive a care bear 😥 but at least I’m not the only one 😂😂 sounds like we have lots of care babies being made on this thread 😍😍

@JessLaw96 congratulations! And welcome to the group 🎉🎉

@XjustagirlX oh wow never knew that about the prednisone. But at least you now have an explanation for what’s going on. Great news on your scan too. I was told they can’t move your due date as it being IVF they know the exact date of conception, as I was also measuring a few days ahead but my EDD has not changed. I was told all that by my consultant today so will be induced at 39+4. It’s a bit scary about the placenta thing too!!

so my consultant call went well and she was lovely on the phone too ❤️. In regards to the IVF basically the same as @XjustagirlX said and they will aim to induce me at 39+4 so March 3rd 😬😬 but I’m hoping to go into labour on my own. I have a feeling it will be a feb baby 🤷🏼‍♀️ From 38 weeks il be trying all the tricks and tips to get things going I think!

fibroid wise - I will have extra monitoring and growth scans as apparently it can affect the growth of baby, so il be very thankful for those and means spending less on private ones 😂😂 currently it’s not blocking my cervix but if things change baby will be coming out the sunroof as a normal labour wont be an option - not sure how I feel about that! As strange is it might sound I really want to experience labour naturally as it’s something I might never get to experience again. Also not keen on c-section recovery as DH works in another country during the week 😬😬. Will also be on a special drip and injections post delivery due to being a high risk of heavy bleeding/haemorrhage afterwards. So all very joyful all in all 😂😂 im booked to see the consultant again at 22 weeks.

EmzieMurf1987 · 08/09/2022 16:46

@Gracie2021 glad your keeping well and busy by the sound of things.

apparently true that the placenta can fail after 40 weeks so with IVF pregnancies most trusts induce before then as we have an increased risk of still birth if we go pass our due date. This was all told to me by the consultant today 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think that’s why all IVF pregnancies are consultant led and not midwife led.

oooooo also thinking of getting the Bella moon one too - it looks fab on Insta and I keep seeing adverts for it like it knows I need to buy it 😂😂 I think it also converts to a nursing pillow which will also be handy.

@ChristmasJumpers that’s a good question as I’d really like a water birth in my plan if possible too! Il deffo be asking this question when I next speak to the consultant, good thinking!

ChristmasJumpers · 08/09/2022 16:52

@EmzieMurf1987 this is really interesting and I think I need to speak to someone as I've been told there's no reason for me to be consultant lead but I don't want to take any unnecessary risks! I'd rather proceed with caution and be under a consultant if possible

Happycroc · 08/09/2022 17:02

I don’t think IVF pregnancies are necessarily consultant lead (unless there’s any other reason) it may differ depending on your area

if you’re induced @ChristmasJumpers you unfortunately can’t be in the water as they need to monitor baby throughout the labour. Having had one natural labour and one induced I’d actually take the induction over the natural (5hours Vs 60hrs)!

ChristmasJumpers · 08/09/2022 17:11

@Happycroc oh my!!! 60 hours sounds hellish 😵‍💫
Ahh that's such a shame, I will be doing everything possible to get things going myself but I suppose its just a game of wait and see really

XjustagirlX · 08/09/2022 18:16

@Happycrocthey moved the dates by 2 days to the babies size on the dating scan not because of the ivf.

@Gracie2021 I stopped the prednosoline at 12 weeks and the day after I started with the string sickness. The doctor said it’s quite common. Hopefully you are ok though. The said see how the sickness goes but if I can’t cope then they will give me some tablets.

i was told I was low risk even with an ivf pregnancy but I spoke to the doctor about my fear of child birth today. As I am so scared she sneakily changed me to high risk so the consultant can see me again instead of the midwives.

Happycroc · 08/09/2022 18:19

@XjustagirlX yes but usually the IVF EDD overrules and they don’t change the date even if you’re measuring a few days infront/ behind at the dating scan

XjustagirlX · 08/09/2022 18:25

@Happycroc oh ok. So I will need to speak to the midwife about moving the due date back to the original date. Thanks for letting me know.

Happycroc · 08/09/2022 18:29

@XjustagirlX I’d probably just mention it, they might change it back or leave it, I found that I had to remind a couple of them it was and IVF pregnancy and “shouldn’t that mean the EDD won’t change”, I guess IVF pregnancies aren’t hugely common and it depends how recently they have dealt with one x

XjustagirlX · 08/09/2022 18:32

@Happycroc i suppose the worry would come if they try to induce me two days earlier than normal but maybe if I was left alone I could go naturally but before 40 weeks.

Gracie2021 · 09/09/2022 11:59

@XjustagirlX I had the same with my GP. He kept asking my last period date and I had to keep tell him it was irrelevant as the embryo was transferred on x date so the EDD was fixed. Seems to be something some of them just aren't that familiar with.
Really hope your sickness gets better. I'm fairly concerned about our holiday plans now as we'd be going 2 days after going cold turkey on all the meds. I might ask about tapering off from week eleven just to see what the clinic says.

Omg @Happycroc you warrior. 60 hours?!?!?!

I really like the flexibility of that pillow @EmzieMurf1987 and that you can zip off one end also as I really like a flat pillow so don't want the preggo pillow for that at all. So glad your call went well too and it sounds like they're really staying on top of your care. Great when you have those few extra complexities. Would you partner get much time off after the birth?

Sounds like our symptoms are quite similar @JessLaw96 I have a fairly constant slightly off feeling mixed with the odd very nauseas day and definitely have some food aversions going on now too. But could 100% be a lot worse. Slept 9 hours last night so bouncing today but staying awake for the afternoons in work is a struggle.

Good that you're seeing some improvements @ChristmasJumpers! Hopefully it's only better from here. I always had 12 weeks as the threshold in my head so would say anything from 12+1 is 2nd?

Pure scanxiety here at the minute ahead of the scan on Monday. Really hope all is ok. How are any of ye doing who are waiting on scans?

Happycroc · 12/09/2022 20:14

did everyone have a good weekend?

how was your scan @Gracie2021?

I had my booking appointment today, took nearly 2 hours to go over my (fairly complicated) history! Feels quite surreal to have done that now. I’m trying to convince myself I can wait until me 12 week scan but I also really want to have a private one next week at 10weeks.

I’ve also purchased some acupuncture wristbands to try and help with the nausea. Not sure they’re doing anything!

hope the rest of you are all well! X

flowersinmay · 13/09/2022 10:57

Hi everyone,

Hope all is well? Loving all these updates ☺️ sorry to hear about everyone's sickness, i feel so much better again now I'm in my 13th week, really hope it also improves for all of you ♥️

I had the preliminary results back from the clinic for the NIPT test. The doctor started the telephone conversation by telling me that there was a high chance that the baby might have issues and might have one of the syndromes (forget which one), my heart obviously started racing and all these thoughts went through my head about what I was going to do next but then he suddenly said "oh wait, sorry ignore what I just said, you're fine! The results are good, so sorry about that, I was reading the wrong line in the report, have a good weekend, you can relax"... I mean what a way to deliver news! Massively relieved though obviously!

I get the final results on Friday along with the sex of the baby! So excited to know - I thought it was a boy but seeing the latest scan pic I'm leaning more towards a girl now! I've got another scan scheduled for four weeks time. Cannot wait to have a proper bump now - still just look like I've eaten a lot of pies 😆 xox

Gracie2021 · 13/09/2022 15:34

Omg @flowersinmay he must have scared you silly. So god it was good news after all but wow not good. Do you have any preference for Friday or just excited to find out?

Glad your consult went well @Happycroc. Did you decide to book the scan next week of wait it out to 12 weeks? I'm on a 3 week wait at the minute since my next scan isn't til 11+5. How are the wristbands working btw?

Scan yesterday went really well thank God. Measuring two days ahead at 9+0 and got the coolest pic that shows all the little legs and arms stubs and tons of movement too. The relief to see everything on track but also so weird to see this little thing moving around inside. Insane and so so cute!

Have a dodgy back so booking into pregnancy Pilates for once I'm 12 weeks. Can't go before then in case some saw me there before I announced in work etc. and just booked flights etc for our holiday next month too. Feel like I can finally start believing this is actually happening....

flowersinmay · 14/09/2022 11:34

@Gracie2021 no preference just super excited to find out! So glad your scan went well! Hope it put your mind at rest, I always feel super relieved the first week or so after the scan and then I start counting down the days until the next one and hoping everything is still going to be ok! I also have a dodgy back so might book into some pregnancy yoga - but I don't know if I should wait until I have a bit more of a visible bump! Feel a bit of a fraud otherwise 😂

JessLaw96 · 14/09/2022 12:57

@Gracie2021 so happy your scan went well! And for you @flowersinmay !

Yesterday and today I have felt awful. Had the most intense headache all day yesterday that hurt my eyes too and have felt beyond nauseous! So I didnt go into work for 2 days now which I feel awful about as I cant work from home! Feeling a little better this afternoon so plan to soak in bath and rest so I can return tomorrow hopefully bit more refreshed! Anyone else struggle around 9w1d and 9w2d?

flowersinmay · 14/09/2022 13:16

@JessLaw96 awww you poor thing! Did you take some paracetamol? I felt pretty awful between around week 7 - 12, and I had a few days where I just couldn't get out of bed at all! I also had headaches which made me nauseous and sick too and they went on throughout the night - I think it's our hormones going crazy! Hopefully a few more weeks and you'll be feeling a bit better 💜

JessLaw96 · 14/09/2022 13:20

@flowersinmay I did take some yesterday but didnt really shift anything! Glad im not the only one reassuring to know! I am hoping as the weeks go on and when I hit week 12 things will improve loads
