@XjustagirlX sorry to hear this, I think the symptoms can fluctuate. I thought my symptoms were gone but when I hit 12 weeks at the weekend I basically got the worst migraine and felt nauseous all weekend - I basically didn't leave my bed the whole weekend, I was useless! I'm feeling a lot better again this week, really hope you feel ok again soon. Can't help on the progesterone but I have also come off completely now since today and I didn't gradually stop - it was a hard stop for me too!

@EasterBunny7 sorry to hear you have headaches too! Hope you're ok today, I was trying to avoid extra drugs but had to pop a few paracetamol at the weekend to survive! Yay for the pregnancy pillow - I was also considering this! Let us know if it's any good?

thatismahogany · 06/09/2022 16:58

Had my scan at 12+2 😊all looks good but the midwife couldn't find the placenta which worried me but she didn't seem concerned. I think my bladder was too full this time 😅 had to half empty it so baby would move and she could get the NT measurement

@Coops0406 The NIPT (Also called Harmony but there are other brands) is a blood test to check for Downs, Edwards and Patau's syndrome. It can also detect gender. It's meant to be more accurate than the NHS combined test. Many of these tests include a scan too but not all.

@Agapanthus13 I'm really anxious about stopping meds too. I'm meant to stop at the end of 12 weeks. Doesn't help that the midwife couldn't see the placenta on my scan (I think she said my bladder was too full??) Now I'm convinced I don't have one to take over from the IVF meds which is ridiculous😅but I know logically we'll both be fine!

@EmzieMurf1987 thanks for the reassurance about stopping meds, I guess we have to trust our clinics but it's so hard ... And I'll definitely be booking a 16 week scan too. I can't wait 8 weeks!

@XjustagirlX I'm not sure if it's "normal" for nausea to start at 12 weeks (but we're all so different I'm sure it is) but I had the worst nausea a couple of days ago (12 weeks exactly) after a few days of relative relief. I think the midwife said hormones increase again around 12 weeks so could be that?

@EasterBunny7 sorry to hear about the headaches, are you taking anything? Or using one of those 4head sticks maybe? I think they're safe for use in pregnancy but I forgot they existed until now! I'm sure they helped me during IVF

@thatismahogany aww such a lovely scan pic congrats! I'm sure your placenta is there somewhere ☺️

Coops0406 · 06/09/2022 22:21

@EasterBunny7 You possibly have as I definitely recognise your name...I think my first thread was May last year but so happy to be on this kind of thread finally! I think I just used them because I had them...but now we have the scan tomorrow that will give us our next indicator of how it's going.
Also; with your clotting issues, did they test you? I just told them my dad and brother had DVTs before 40 and they put me on clexane but have also now recently upped my dose!

@EmzieMurf1987 we went to London for my birthday the day after our OTD and bought a little pair of souvenir socks...if nothing else then to remind us of our first ever BFP. They are now sat with all the many pregnancy tests! 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Gracie2021 hope you are feeling okay? I read that about lines and the hook effect...will just feel better now once scan is done and we know how things are progressing. It feels like we've waited so long for the scan to come around! I hear you on the bra front, already bought 2 new ones and I imagine there will ve more required down the line 🤣 not that OH is complaining!

@flowersinmay thank you! It's so special, it really has been the best birthday I could have ever wished for. Just hoping all okay tomorrow 🤞🏾will definitely have a nosey at the stretch mark cream...I get them so bad from putting on a bit of weight!

@thatismahogany thanks for the info. I had my embryos tested and any that weren't genetically normal were discarded so the one that was put in is a euploid, do you think it's still a test that needs to be done? I might ask them about it tomorrow at the scan.
Your scan picture is amazing!!!! 😍

Will give you all an update tomorrow!

Agapanthus13 · 06/09/2022 22:30

@thatismahogany what a beautiful scan picture!! I’m sure your placenta is in there hiding somewhere xx

EmzieMurf1987 · 07/09/2022 10:13

Morning ladies!

@Gracie2021sorry to hear your feeling rough the constant nausea/hangover feeling is the worst! I hope you have some better days soon.

@XjustagirlX i think it’s totally normal for symptoms to fluctuate. I remember my nausea went completely by week 10 and at week 11 was back again! Hopefully it won’t linger for too long as the second trimester is just round the corner!! How are you feeling having stopped the meds? It’s so scary but after a week or so you realise how nice it is to not have to worry about meds all the time!

@EasterBunny7 sorry to hear about your headaches they are horrible. I’m also getting them on and off and this last one I’ve had since yesterday! Have you been taking anything for them? I’m trying not to take tablets but it’s a necessity when I have to go to work 😬. My results came by post and arrived 9 days afterwards which I was very impressed with! Especially as we had the bank holiday, I was expecting it to take weeks lol have you had your done yet?

@flowersinmay aw thank you! Yes super happy with the results but to be honest I never really gave it much thought - maybe because I never thought I’d get pregnant who knows! Good luck with your scan and tests this week 🤞🏼🤞🏼 All is well for you. I’ve got quite a few maternity clothes now as I’ve deffo popped! The over the bump leggings and jeans are sooooooo comfortable 😍😍 think I will be living in these for a while! X

@thatismahogany what a beautiful scan pic! So glad all went well for you! Remind me again are you going to do the NIPT test regardless of your results? 8 weeks is way too long to wait and I can’t wait to see munchkin again in just 2 weeks time, hoping it flies by!

@Coops0406 so glad you had an unforgettable birthday and time away in London. Souvenir socks sound sooooo cute! Good luck for your scan today! Xx

EmzieMurf1987 · 07/09/2022 10:16

Why are my posts soooooo long??!! 😂😂

does anyone else have anything going on this week?

we have a couple of scans so far @Coops0406 and @flowersinmay best of luck girlies! You got this!

i have a consultant call from the hospital tomorrow I think about my delightful fibroid and being an IVF pregnancy so will update soon!

flowersinmay · 07/09/2022 10:59

Morning ladies! Loving all these updates from you all, I hope you are all ok?

Thanks @EmzieMurf1987 best of luck with your consultant appointment! Let us know how it goes.

The scan went well today! I'm 12+5 and they were checking all the measurements and baby's limbs and eyes etc and everything is looking positive so far. They took my blood (and luckily I didn't feel faint - as I'm normally a bit funny when it comes to blood and needles!) and I will hopefully get the full results of the NIPT test next week 🤞

You could see the baby swallowing and chewing on the scan - amazing to see! Still can't believe I'm actually pregnant, I'm still in shock it's finally happened!

Sending lots of love to everyone and their little bumps on this thread! Xox

Happycroc · 07/09/2022 11:23

Morning ladies,

so glad to hear everyone is progressing well, except for all the headaches, nausea, migraines etc. I’ve also been feeling really rough, my nausea tends to peak at 5pm and I’m in bed by 8.30!

I have fainted a few times in the last week, which isn’t ideal, and I went to my GP Monday who has ordered a full blood works testing everything but said it’s just likely to be a drop in blood pressure and to lie down as soon as I feel it coming on! Could look quite odd on the school run!

I have serious scanxiety, going at lunchtime today for a check (again GP’s insistence) I’m just over 8 weeks. You would have thought all the sickness etc would be reassuring but I’m terrified.

EasterBunny7 · 07/09/2022 14:36

Hi everyone,

So, I'm not taking anything for the headaches as I'm already on double dose of aspirin.

Lovely to hear and see those of you who had scans recently @thatismahogany @flowersinmay the chewing bit amazes me!

Look forward to hearing continued good news from scans of @Coops0406 and @Happycroc and really hoping you don't faint somewhere outside by yourself.

@EmzieMurf1987 good to know results came back so quick. I have my dating scan next week Thursday, so probably won't get results till October, perhaps. My pregnancy pillow has been affected by the postal strike :D so who knows what other external factors will pop up this month.

12+3: I received my first phone call from my midwife. I have to say I was left very disappointed. She sounded like a robot with no real emotion and her congratulations and level of interest in me fell flat. I suppose I was expecting that midwives would be jovial, loving, caring and maternal. The midwives I had for my booking in appointment definitely did not leave such a bad impression on me, so I don't think I am imagining things.

Anyways, more importantly, she tells me three weeks late that I have a urine infection and that as soon as I hang up, I must call my GP. She is based at my GP surgery and knows that they don't accept calls in the afternoon and I will have to wait until tomorrow morning, so I don't see why she could not book me an appointment on the system if it is so urgent. I wasn't so fussed about a UTI until I just read it can be serious for pregnant women.

Apart from that, she just told me she'll ring me again in 5 weeks to book my 25 week appointment with her. Is this how scarce contact is with a midwife? Nothing at all until 25 weeks?

Scan was great...nice heartbeat which was amazing to see! 😍 We were bawling too much that we forgot to take a little video of it! 🤦🏾‍♀️ And as we're with Care fertility we got our little care bear with photos which was lovely.

@EasterBunny7 sounds awful! I can't believe it took them 3 weeks to tell you that!! My worry is that I have been so well looked after with the fertility clinic that I'm dreading being with the local antenatal care.

@EmzieMurf1987 hope your call goes okay tomorrow!

@flowersinmay your scan sounds amazing! Can't wait to get to that point!! It's ridiculous how much they advance in such a short space of time!!

@Happycroc sorry you've been feeling rough! I kind of wanted to have a bit of nausea or something to give me that added symptom to say I'm pregnant but now I'm glad I don't have it...although I do realise there is still time 🤣

ChristmasJumpers · 07/09/2022 15:05

@EasterBunny7 my scan is next Thursday too. Feeling very excited/nervous!!

@Coops0406 aww lovely, so glad the scan went well 😊I knew I'd seen you on another thread somewhere and think it might be because we were both with Care! It's lovely to see someone else who's had success with them. We didn't get a care bear though and no mention of one so I'm feeling a little put out now! Haha

Happycroc · 07/09/2022 15:06

@Coops0406 i had none with either of my DC so this has been a surprise

Thanks @EasterBunny7 just back from the scan, all was perfect, heart beating away and it has caught up the 4 days that I was measuring behind last weds so bang on my dates! They did note that I have a very very small SCH but hopefully this will resolve itself quickly (without any scary spotting or bleeding)

Now I just have to sit tight for 4 weeks until my 12 week scan

pregnancy pillows are amazing, my husband was worried that I was more attached to it than I am him… some days it might be true!

i find midwives very hit and miss, already I’ve spoken with three at the local hospital, one was lovely, helpful and supportive, one completely dismissive and one more like the latter. From memory 12 week scan then a 16 week midwife appointment, 20 week scan, 24 week midwife, 30 week midwife, 34 week midwife then a bit more frequently toward the end…

Coops0406 · 07/09/2022 15:39

@ChristmasJumpers they have been amazing! Feels like we have been going at it for so long with them that we've got quite attached to the nurses there!
You should ask for your bear!!! 😍
How far along are you?

@Happycroc I'm hoping it doesn't come now, but could do with going off some foods as my appetite is insatiable!!! 🤣
I hope it's not to stressful with the different midwives! I had to fill in a form online so waiting until they come back to me, no idea how long that will take though.

Already thinking we're going to get a private scan at 10 weeks, don't think I can hold out until 12 weeks!!

ChristmasJumpers · 07/09/2022 16:40

@Coops0406 I want to ask but it's been 4 weeks so I think I may come across a bit weird demanding my teddy bear 😂😂
I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow and can I just say I envy you so much having no symptoms, I've been going through he'll with all day nausea which means bo appetite which spurs on the nausea etc. etc. Don't wish it on yourself haha

Coops0406 · 07/09/2022 17:47

@ChristmasJumpers 🤣🤣🤣 I realise how bad it is but having no symptoms apart from those of the progesterone is leaving me super paranoid! But I also know how horrific it would be having sickness so just going to try and keep busy to get through the weeks!

thatismahogany · 07/09/2022 18:28

@flowersinmay and @Agapanthus13 thank you 😊I know logically it is, because we saw the umbilical cord and it has to be attached to something! I still asked the midwife today for reassurance. Strangely enough as I was just about to call her, a different midwife to my usual one called to offer me a booking in appointment in a strange mix up...

@Coops0406 no problem and thank you 😄and I actually have no idea if you might still need the testing, did they tell you at the scan? Massive congratulations I'm glad it went well 😊I have to say I feel a bit cheated as I'm with Care fertility and did not receive a bear when I got discharged!

@EmzieMurf1987 thank you! And yes at the moment I think we will go for the NIPT whatever the result because I'm a worrier 😬but I think we will tell our parents once we get the NHS bloods back. Good luck with your consultant call tomorrow

@flowersinmay just saw about your scan, how wonderful. And amazing you could see all that 😊

@Happycroc sorry to hear about the fainting. I've fainted a few times in the past (not pregnancy related, I was locking my knees and not keeping the blood circulating)! And it's an awful feeling because it puts you on edge. It could be your blood pressure, and I hope you are able to find a way to stop it dropping or it resolves itself. I can only advise keeping hydrated and eating regularly but that's hard when you're nauseous!

@EasterBunny7 thank you! And sorry your midwife appointment didn't go well, they definitely should have flagged up the UTI. And I might be missing something but I thought you would have a 16 week appointment? I have that booked in with my midwife. I could be completely wrong, and as this thread has gotten longer I'm mixing up people's histories but could they have it on their system that this is not your first pregnancy? Because they offer less appointments then I think

@ChristmasJumpers don't worry it's not just you who hasn't been offered a care bear. I'm quite offended! 😅 Tempting to demand one but am I really driving all the way to the clinic for a bear?!

JessLaw96 · 07/09/2022 19:38

Hello everyone! Ive jumped on this as im due April 2023! And know a couple of you ladies @Agapanthus13 & @Gracie2021 from a previous group!

so exciting to read through about you all! And how well we are all doing despite also feeling rather rubbish!
I'm currently 8w2d and on a off nauseous which isnt pleasant but could be worse i guess!

Agapanthus13 · 07/09/2022 21:14

Aww @JessLaw96 that’s so exciting to have you join the group. Do you have an approx due date yet? I’m 9+4 so pretty close! Have you had your first scan yet? Sorry to hear you’re suffering with nausea, it really sucks. Hopefully you’re able to rest up?

@flowersinmay what a wonderful milestone to reach, sounds like you had a really special experience 💕 Are you planning to have anymore scans between now & 20weeks? We keep wondering whether to book some extra in.

@Happycroc sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so rough. I had no idea how awful low blood pressure could make you feel until I experienced it a few weeks back. Can you try and work out if you get any ‘signs’ before fainting? My eyesight goes first and everything goes black which thankfully gives me time to sit down (on the pavement, in the park etc) looks pretty stupid but it stops loosing consciousness. Honestly don’t know how you’re coping with it with little ones to look after. The dr suggested getting a blood pressure reader and I’ve found that helps as it flags in the morning how low it is so I know to take extra care, plus my husbands been making snack boxes each morning which massively helps (when they stay down)! Really hope you manage to find a way to cope and get the fainting under control x

@ChristmasJumpers how are you getting on With the sickness? Can I ask how many weeks you are now? I’m 9+4 and still finding it pretty awful. My gp prescribed me meds which certainly reduce the amount of times I’m sick but they’re a sedative so I think end up sleeping for hours, which isn’t ideal when meant to be working. Have you found anything else which works for you? I’ve lost a fair few lb so really hoping it’s not effecting embino

hope everyone else is getting on well. Trying to catchup with where everyone’s at. Have anyone started to get a little bump yet? Im so excited to get to that stage x

JessLaw96 · 07/09/2022 21:16

@Agapanthus13 yes so due date is April 17th whats yours? As we are super close!

Agapanthus13 · 07/09/2022 21:23

@JessLaw96 aw I’m 8th April, so 9days apart 💕

JessLaw96 · 07/09/2022 21:24

@Agapanthus13 thats so sweet! I see you’ve been struggling abit with sickness sorry to hear that hopefully it improves soon!

ChristmasJumpers · 07/09/2022 21:25

@Agapanthus13 I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and still suffering although some days are better than others. I've not thrown up for a while, it's just nausea which the tablets I got don't work for! I gave up on them after 2 days as I was the same as you, couldn't stay awake 😴
Is it cyclizine you've been given?

XjustagirlX · 08/09/2022 14:06

@EmzieMurf1987 well it’s not really fluctuating. It was more 12 weeks of very slight nausea and then bang on 12 weeks hours of being sick each day. I spoke to a dr today snd they think my prednisolone tablets were hiding my sickness and the moment I came off them the sickness started. They sometimes give out prednosoline to help sickness.

i had my 12 weeks scan today and my due date has been brought forward two days to 18th March.

the doctor mentioned that ivf pregnancies should aim to deliver the week before 40 weeks. And this means they try to induce you a week early. This is due to ivf pregnancies having a high risk of the placenta failing and something to do with blood flow. I had no idea about this. Did anyone else?

Happycroc · 08/09/2022 15:52

@XjustagirlX My last pregnancy was IVF and I was induced at 39 weeks. We knew I wouldn’t go past due date as they do suggest that you don’t. I also had a low PAPP-A which was another contributing factor. Don’t worry, by 39 weeks you’ll be ready for it to be over and to have your baby in your arms (first child was 2 weeks overdue)! I’m surprised they moved your due date though as they usually leave those as is with IVF pregnancies due to them knowing exactly when conception happened!
