@GlitteryGreen you won't be allowed to go home.. you get bloods done when you arrive and then 1hr after the drink and 2hrs after the drink... so you'll need a book or something to keep you busy!!
@ALYGirl hope you are negative! I have the GD as I did with last pregnancy, hard work carb counting but it's meant the weight isn't piling on.

annlee3817 · 08/06/2022 12:48

I'm rubbish at keeping up with this thread. My Indigestion really kicked in around 26 weeks, but has eased off again now at 28+1. Sweets were really setting it off and otherwise I've been trying to graze rather than have a full lunch and dinner.

In the office today, she's having a right dance around in there, it's really uncomfortable, looking forward to getting home, not sure if she's grown or changed position, but can feel like my ribs and lower back are getting a beating. Also, really missing running :( getting out for walks, but just not the same.

Just in case anyone else is also having their gestational diabetes test soon, I am in the middle of mine (had the first bloods and the drink and now just waiting for the second bloods) and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. The drink tasted just like an orange capri sun and was actually enjoyable. The waiting around is a bit of a pain but can’t really complain too much.

I had mine last week and all was fine. I actually enjoyed the drink too! Mine was raspberry flavour.

Yep @GlitteryGreen you're not supposed to walk around or anything after having the drink so I doubt they'll let you go home sadly 😞

Urgh depressing that I probably won't be allowed home! I read a few threads on here where people had been allowed to go so thought I had a chance. Annoying.

Butterflytulip · 08/06/2022 14:54

@annlee3817 have you tried the gym? Not the same as running but the cross trainer and indoor bike aren't a bad replacement for a couple of months :)

annlee3817 · 08/06/2022 15:03

@Butterflytulip hate the gym, I do other exercise, I just really miss running, I'm also doing fast walking and hilly walks on my treadmill, but again not the same

Flibbyjibby · 08/06/2022 15:22

@GlitteryGreen

I was allowed to go home as long as I was driving. Must depend on the person doing it!

Butterflytulip · 08/06/2022 15:57

For the ones who have little ones already and expecting another... (my daughter is 2).

When did you bring clothes down from the attic?? I have all her newborn and baby clothes in neutral as we didn't know what we were having.. so I plan to use those clothes again! Just thinking I really should make sure they are ok after having being stored in attic for last year or so!! Also are you buying a new mattress for next to me / cot? I don't really know what else should be on my list with already having a little one, feels like I should have it all (obviously little nappies!!).

legaltigger · 08/06/2022 16:05

@Butterflytulip I don't have any clothes left from dd, I made them into a big blanket or got rid of them, but I would maybe get them down and check them - see if you still like them etc and give them a wash. Have you any storage? We're getting a chest of drawers to put all his little clothes in.

We also have a next2me crib in its box in the spare room.

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 09/06/2022 01:24

I'm here to moan. Yet another night with no sleep. DH is asleep next to me, snoring this head off and I'm full of murderous rage.

My pregnancy pillow is not helping, if anything it making me hot. I'm too hot, I've got the fan on. My hips and back hurt. I have another 3 months of this misery 😭

madeleine85 · 09/06/2022 02:43

@annlee3817 the frustration is shared (though hope you are feeling better)! I had high hopes of going into the third trimester looking great and exercising daily. Third trimester day 2 feel like a beached whale, my DD age 2 is still sick, husband still away for work, so neither of us have slept, I have barely worked, and I got on the treadmill today for a half hike half light jog, made it to 9 minutes and the crying and throwing up started again. 10-11 weeks and counting.

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher when my DH is home, he is thrown out of the bed on average 2-3 nights a week because I can't stand the snoring, moving, literally last week I kicked him out of there last week for breathing in my direction :). The pregnancy pillows annoy me too, so i'm sticking with a regular pillow between my knees.

@Butterflytulip I took my baby clothes out their box this week (28 weeks), sorted them by age group (newborn, 0-3 and 3-6) then bagged them back up and put them away. I more did it to see what I still needed than to actually get them out and in the open.

annlee3817 · 09/06/2022 03:03

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher ah it's frustrating isn't it, I'm struggling to get comfy too, added an extra pillow tonight to raise me head and shoulders slightly which has helped a little as sciatica was niggling. Do you have a spare bed you can ship DH off too? We don't, but luckily I just nudge him and he rolls onto his side which stops the snoring, years ago I made him use those breathe right strips and they were fairly effective. You must be shattered though :(

@madeleine85 Same as you, envisaged going into the third trimester still running and feeling great, also feel like a beached whale. Sorry you're back to being sick. Yes 10/11 weeks in counting 🤞

@Butterflytulip I've not got anything from DD, but my friends who have done the same, got them down and gave them a wash and then checked to see what they wanted to keep. Re the mattress, I believe it's new every time, I know some mumsnetters would use the same one for siblings dependent on how it's been stored, but personally I'd go new for peace of mind. I got the next to me mattress in the Amazon's warehouse deals, was a sealed return, much cheaper

legaltigger · 09/06/2022 08:14

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher oh god the struggle is real. Can you ship him off to a spare bed if you have one? I'm also having trouble with my hips at night so I feel your pain.

Butterflytulip · 09/06/2022 09:33

Thanks @legaltigger @annlee3817 @madeleine85
I think I will get new mattress. Snuz pod ones are only £35 or so so best for peace of mind.

Good tips re clothes. I'll take them all down I think after our holiday. I'll be 31 weeks so time enough to sort, wash and decide what to keep. Thanks guys :)

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 09/06/2022 09:53

Thank you to everyone for the solidarity and sympathy. Unfortunately, we have no spare bed here. I might have to send DH to sleep on the sofa.

I had just managed to get to sleep when DD woke me up to say she had wet the bed. Luckily, I'm organised on this front. I always double layer her bed - mattress protector, sheet then another mattress protector and sheet. I just had to remove the top layers, sort her out and cuddle her. DH managed to sleep through the whole thing. I might sell him on eBay.

I've got an appointment at the hospital this afternoon for the vbac clinic. Until then I'll be just staring into space feeling tired!

HaresHoping · 09/06/2022 13:47

Oh bless you @TurquoiseDreamCatcher 😞 definitely sell him on eBay and use the cash to get some noise defenders and a lovely big squishy mattress 😉

madeleine85 · 09/06/2022 14:19

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher definitely eBay him 😂🤦‍♀️.

Thank god DD appears to have kicked this cold last night, just in time for my DH to get off a plane home, but not before being wide awake from 330am. It’s 6 here now and she has so much energy. I’m going to be the first person at daycare today. Have my first 3rd trimester checkup today! 🎉

amorningperson · 09/06/2022 18:59

Hi everyone! Catching up :) thanks @HaresHoping for new thread!!
@Butterflytulip I've gotten the boxes down from the attic but they are just sitting there waiting. I went on a little shopping spree online this week and bought some autumnal coloured things just for fun really, it was a really good pick me up! I'm holding off sorting clothes until around 30 weeks, mainly because I don't want them to get all dusty but as @madeleine85 did, I might actually go through and sort them now, then wash them all a little later on.

I've been feeling the same @madeleine85 @annlee3817 - thought I'd be sooo energetic up until 35 weeks but honestly I've reached that point of tiredness 10 weeks early. Currently 26.5 weeks feeling SO ROUGH and exhausted. We went on a mini- break to Portugal with another family who have a house there (really lovely), but I hated being away from home for some reason. I missed the dog so much I cried 😂I think I've started feeling really 'nesty' and wanting to be in my own space. Which sucks a bit because we are still between houses. We rent a flat from a family friend at reduced rates because he works abroad, but his stuff is everywhere and he comes to stay here maybe twice a year or so... and even though it's so helpful to save them money ... I just find it soooo tough not to have OUR space right now. It was totally easy and made lots of sense, and I felt very grateful to him as he could ask for a lot more money than he does, but argh! I want a little home so badly.

Aaaanyways, other than that I've been enjoying pregnancy yoga a lot more, and really loving the 'Birth-ed' podcast- has anyone else listened?

My thoughts are with you @TurquoiseDreamCatcher and all other non-sleepers. Sounds so ROUGH. I find a big dog walk tires me out enough to at least make bed feel more comfortable than not bed? if that makes sense - I have the dog as a motivator. Hope you guys find a solution.

HaresHoping · 09/06/2022 19:11

Ooh thanks for that podcast tip @amorningperson! I've just subscribed ☺️

28 weeks here and on cue for third trimester the gastric reflux that plagued me in the first trimester has returned with a new level of discomfort. I could not lie on either side the last two nights it was agony around my oesophagus area. I could only lie on my back. Exactly what I am supposed to not do from 28weeks.

I tried to stay propped up a bit on lots of pillows which is hurting my back already. Arghhhh!

amorningperson · 09/06/2022 19:28

@LaddieCthulu You can get some omeprazole prescribed if it's sooo bad - speak to your GP ( I had it TERRIBLE with my DC1)

LaddieCthulu · 09/06/2022 19:41

@amorningperson this is what helped in the first trimester, and i put in for a repeat prescription two days ago and forgot to pick it up on my way home!! Will get tomorrow... How long did it take to work for you? I think it took a week or two last time for me, but then it really did work.

amorningperson · 09/06/2022 20:50

@LaddieCthulu It would help the day of if I remmeber correctly but I also cut down on the things that really set it off (super high fibre cereals, and high fat things like pastries...). I would only take it when it was bad and then when it went away I'd stop, not sure if that's best practice!! Hope you get your hands on it soon :) :)

madeleine85 · 09/06/2022 21:58

@amorningperson dogs are the answer to everything tbh. I'd miss mine like crazy if I was away right now. My dog daycare has a webcam setup and whenever I put him in I stalk the hell out of the poor guy, kinda nice to get a real time check in though/watch dogs all day. Your living situation sounds great (for the price) but totally understand wanting your own place that really is "yours". My DH and I talked on buying again the other day, we have savings but things are so overpriced and i'm worrying that we are doing something at the top of the market just because we feel like we should be adulting. I think we are going to keep renting, maybe in the area we want to buy though to test it and then see how it all goes. The one up side to renting is someone else doing all the fixing of things that go wrong though! :)

Redapple21 · 09/06/2022 22:37

Hi ladies...really enjoying the catch ups on here. @madeleine85 I would love to watch dogs all day...there should be subscriptions even for non owners 🤣 I miss my dog so much since she passed away last year. Well she was my mums dog really but I bought her for my mum when I still lived there, so she felt like mine too. Dogs are just the best.

I'm 26 weeks this week and today I had the weirdest movements. I got home from work and was just sat on the sofa when baby started to have a kick around ...the next minute my whole stomach vibrated for what felt like about 5 seconds! Like it was doing some crazy gymnastics in there! Then it went back to usual kicks. It was so weird and actually scared me a little. Has anyone else had this?
