I hope you're ok @DayToNight ! The whole balance being off is no joke at this point.

Coco9910 · 12/05/2022 13:44

@DayToNight oh no hope you are okay!! So common to fall in pregnancy because of the shift in centre of gravity, so donโ€™t feel silly!! Hope you and baby are doing okay!

annie1994 · 12/05/2022 15:08

@missv556 I have packed a box of formula (pack of 6 already in sterile bottles) but thatโ€™s only because I struggled breastfeeding my DS1 and my milk took longer to come in so just want to be prepared. Also donโ€™t want to put as much pressure on myself this time. I personally think itโ€™s always a good idea to pack some formula/ have some at home until youโ€™ve really cracked BF!

KizboBaggins · 12/05/2022 15:37

@annie1994 that's a good idea, I really want to ebf but need to be comfortable with it if it doesn't happen straight away/easily, so having that formula back up plan is a good idea.

Has anyone else's belly button like... moved? Mine definitely used to be in the middle of my belly and now it's taken a sharp dodge to the right ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm gonna try and post a picture of my bump later cause I can't stop laughing at it lol this can't be normal. Also do you guys have a line? That's new too. I kinda like it. At least it's in the middle ๐Ÿ˜‚

ChinChilly · 12/05/2022 15:44

@missv556 I'm going to pack some pre made formula, I am going to try breast feeding but equally happy for formula feed if it doesn't work out I think I'm just gonna go with the flow with breast feeding and if it doesn't work I'm not gonna work myself up about it.

@DayToNight hope you're both ok!

@KizboBaggins my belly button hasn't moved, I dont think, but the two piercings i had definitely have they look so wonky now! I don't think I've got much longer until my inny becomes and outy either

KizboBaggins · 12/05/2022 15:56

@ChinChilly my normally very deep inny is definitely and outy now ... please see my cockeyed belly button below. It's mad ๐Ÿ˜‚

@SamanthaVimes I'm hoping to breast feed and express so others can bottle feed him too. Will I have colostrum by 37 weeks? Sorry if a silly question. I squeeze my nipples every few days hoping something comes out but so far nothing ๐Ÿ˜” quite looking forward to the day I see some milk

I seem to remember last time I leaked once before birth and then had a hungry baby for the first night desperately trying to get my milk started - it did on day 2! This time I've been able to squeeze milk out almost since I found out I was pregnant and had leaking boobs last night - think it might be because my body remembers doing it til 16 months last time! I think unless you're v premature the milk will come in for you when it needs to.

On a different note, is anyone else frustrated by the lack of nice affordable maternity clothes on the high street?! I don't want to buy online as I want to try on but just went in Primark and the selection was awful and tiny and overpriced I ended up just buying 2 dresses from the normal section that stretch!

ChinChilly · 12/05/2022 16:19

@KizboBaggins I see what you mean ๐Ÿคฃ I'm sure it will go back to normal post birth. I haven't got a line YET but my stomach has gotten soo9 hairy

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 12/05/2022 16:43

Yes @kiwi17 canโ€™t find maternity stuff in stores at all, ended up buying stretchy โ€œnormalโ€ maxi dresses from primark which to be fair have been absolutely fine.

My concern now isโ€ฆ what do we wear after the birth? Whilst pregnant, itโ€™s lovely to have a top on or dress that shows Iโ€™m pregnant - but Iโ€™m not sure I want to accentuate a bump post birth! (And Iโ€™m definitely not going to be one of these celeb types who springs back into a size 8 seconds after giving birth!)

kiwi17 · 12/05/2022 17:15

@HotToddyColdSauvignon I know right?! Just bought a size up from normal and was way cheaper than the maternity range. I luckily have quite a few bf friendly clothes I bought last time so will just move onto them but I did continue wearing maternity jeans for a while after ๐Ÿ˜‚ this time round I'm not sure as it's the opposite season and last time I could hide in baggy jumpers and jeans (Feb baby) but summer? Argh!

@Danani I've requested my maternity leave to start on my due date. ๐Ÿคฃ I do have holiday i can use before if I want. I was just thinking I want as long as possible off after also. I am wfh so it's not like I'm having to struggle with commutes etc.

ShellUK09 · 12/05/2022 18:26

@KizboBaggins I feel like I have no belly button at all now, the skin is just all stretched out and it looks so weird to me! I also have one of those lines. I haven't been using any cream on my bump and no stretch marks just yet (touch wood) but I might start using some cream or oil as it feels like it's not possible to stretch the skin anymore!

SamanthaVimes · 12/05/2022 18:44

@missv556 colostrum production usually starts at some point in the second trimester so youโ€™ll definitely have some by 37 weeks. Itโ€™s not advised to hand express before then as it can bring on labour (which you obviously donโ€™t want before theyโ€™re at term!)

itโ€™s not necessary to express antenataly but can be a nice back up (I probably wonโ€™t but I had a relatively easy time with DD so am hoping for the same again) but can be handy to have a little practice hand expressing before thereโ€™s a baby screaming at you! Thereโ€™s videos on YouTube to show you how to do it

@DayToNight hope youโ€™re ok!

SamanthaVimes · 12/05/2022 18:48

@kiwi17 totally agree about maternity clothes, theyโ€™re either hideous or a million pounds! Iโ€™ve found it really frustrating

@KizboBaggins my belly button hasnโ€™t moved but itโ€™s sort of disappeared ๐Ÿ˜…itโ€™s gone so flat you can really see it any more!

DayToNight · 12/05/2022 19:05

Thanks everyone. I happen to be on my first/last work trip. They're keeping me in overnight but all looks good.

ChinChilly · 12/05/2022 19:33

@kiwi17 I brought 2 pairs of maternity jeans from river island and I don't wear them they're hideous, they just go all saggy round the bum ๐Ÿคฃ

My hormones are in full force today! OH is away for a couple of days and I have not stopped randomly crying! The dog keeps looking for him out of the window and that's set me off! OH used to regularly work nights so I'm used to him not being here on the evenings but omg I'm an emotional wreck today.... send help ๐Ÿ˜‚

SamanthaVimes · 12/05/2022 19:37

@ChinChilly I had a lot of hormones yesterday, one of DDs cartoons had me in tears ๐Ÿ˜ฐ(the Bluey sleepy time episode)
totally ridiculous ๐Ÿ˜…itโ€™s about the 8th time Iโ€™ve seen it as well so not like I didnโ€™t know what happens!

missv556 · 12/05/2022 20:40

Of the very few shops that do have maternity clothes in store, they are so frumpy looking and just boring. I still fit in my pre-pregnancy clothes but I've been told not to wear them as I'll stretch them out and ruin them.

I'm lying on the sofa in discomfort right now cos indigestion got me

Tops and jumpers are mainly still ok but trousers no way ๐Ÿ™ˆ plus we are going to France in 2 weeks and it's going to be hot so I'm now panicking I'll overheat and only have one pair of maternity shorts!

Coco9910 · 12/05/2022 21:39

Agree about maternity clothes! Iโ€™ve been wearing jeans / jeggings from H&M and have just been wearing my normal tops but they are starting to look a bit small ๐Ÿ˜… Bring on warmer days so I can just wear floaty dresses. Iโ€™ve ordered a couple of bits off Vinted as it doesnโ€™t seem as much of a waste of money if I donโ€™t get much wear out of them.

My belly button has been totally flipped to an outtie..like it couldnโ€™t possibly be any more out ๐Ÿ˜‚ if the baby is against my belly button it goes all hard and my partner keeps calling it the babyโ€™s nose ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜‚ And I have the line and mine goes all the way from top to bottom!

NamelessBaby1 · 12/05/2022 22:49

@KizboBaggins your belly button is so funny! I've never seen one migrating like that, haha. Thankfully my belly is just rounder and hairier so far, no black lines or changed belly button (yet!)

Also struggling with nice maternity clothes. I have a couple of pairs of jeans from New Look which aren't the best fit but better than nothing, and still wearing normal leggings when I'm just in the house. But trying to find nice, summery tops is so hard! Everything seems to be black or grey, it's depressing! I got a dress from Vinted too, but have yet to try it on, hoping it will last beyond birth of it fits though.

CatMumFTM22 · 12/05/2022 23:12

@kiwi17 Try H&M! I've found lots of nice maternity clothes on their website

Lianna93 · 13/05/2022 00:04

I got jeans & vests from New Look that were very much 'my style' & I also got some stuff from boohoo which was pleasantly surprising as I always found them a hit or a miss with normal clothes but I've also been wearing a lot of tight fitting dresses that stretch that absolutely flatter my growing shape ๐Ÿ˜
Imagine once I'm pp though, I'll probably be breaking out the leggings & baggy shorts again that I wore at the start to hide my pregnancy ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚

My belly hasn't quite popped out yet but sometimes, if I laugh or tense, it tries to come out ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚ My belly piercing had to come out and the skins stretched so much. Also struggling with a hairy belly over here ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜‚ But no line & minimal stretch marks so far ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป Though... the stretch marks I do have make me smile as it reminds me that I'm growing a whole mini person ๐Ÿฅฐ

Finished up work today for the next few weeks & I am absolutely knackered! Definitely needing this time off!

Iโ€™m due 22nd, so 30 weeks today!

Current stresses are my husbandโ€™s work not sorting out his shared parental leave yet - they have a really generous policy, but his (outsourced) HR department seem entirely inept.

We have our first antenatal class this weekend, itโ€™s in person so hoping to learn something, and meet some nice people.

Then off on a last holiday, so looking forward to being away from my stressful job for 2 weeks. Iโ€™ve realised that thanks to the Jubilee and a trip to my in laws I have two 3 day-weeks when Iโ€™m back, and thinking after that until Mat leave Iโ€™ll ask my boss about going down to short weeks (think it will be about 4 weeks left then). Planning on taking off the week before my due date as either annual leave or unpaid leave. My Mat leave cover has already been in place for a month, so my boss is fairly relaxed about me taking time off now.
