@deliwoman1 I wouldn't say there is a pattern in movements for me either but more active on the evenings but that's probably because that's when I'm less active. I agree with @SamanthaVimes i try something cold and a lie down and if they didn't ring I'd give them a call. My little miss seems to enjoy my OHs taste in music..poor girl..and that normally gets a reaction aswell

strawberrysummer19 · 16/05/2022 18:18

How is everyone getting on with their baby purchases?

I've still got little bits to get still - but feel I've got quite a bit so far. I'm 30wks tomorrow

Have got -

Pram and travel system (so the car seat)
Cot
Cot mobile
Bottle Prep machine
Sterliser
Handful of outfits
2x packs 4pack of water wipes
Toiletries for hospital bag
Disposal knickers and pads (need more)
Tommee tippee bottle warmer (absolute godsend and couldn't do without that when I had my first)
Mam bottle starter pack
Formula plastic container for travel

Think that's it! X

strawberrysummer19 · 16/05/2022 18:20

For bottle fed baby mums -

What formula is everyone thinking of getting?

I used aptamil for my first but I might go with cow and gate - no particular reason

I might start getting milk and nappies in my weekly shops from now on

X

ChinChilly · 16/05/2022 18:23

@strawberrysummer19 oh god we've got hardly anything ๐Ÿคฃ travel system, clothes, baby swing and some nappies seriously need to sort myself out ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I'm thinking of using kendamil formula if breast feeding doesn't go well.. I'm going to get some in anyway but the only thing thay annoys me with it is I think it can be abit of a pain to get hold of at times

Confusion101 · 16/05/2022 18:31

Is it OK to buy formula milk now? I've heard there is a chance the baby won't take to it and its be a waste then? Going straight to formula!

I had nothing until really recently so this has all just kinda come together for me.... I've got travel system, high chair to be used from birth, play mat, Tommy tippee bottle maker, bottle steriliser and bottles (went for mam), crib... I need the smaller bits now. Have received a few outfits as presents already, need way more. Have been stocking up on nappies, need wipes. Need soothers ๐Ÿ˜… the list is never ending

NamelessBaby1 · 16/05/2022 18:43

I think I've got most of the necessities for now:

Travel system
Bedside cot
Newborn clothes
Nappies
Wipes
Piles of muslin cloths
Toiletries for me (still need to get some disposable pants, but have pads, nipple cream etc)
Changing mat
Play mat thing.

My friend is throwing me a "surprise" baby shower in June (which I know about as my sister wanted to check I'd be ok with it as I don't like fuss lol, thankfully will just be a small group), so I'm waiting to see if I get any other wee bits and bobs at that, and my friend said she'll get us a bouncer thing. So hopefully that's me pretty much sorted?
My mum is going to come over at the next bank holiday and go through everything with me to check if I've missed anything too, thank goodness for sensible mums!

Coco9910 · 16/05/2022 18:45

I have all the big bits but need all the smaller bits still!

What Iโ€™ve got

  • Travel system (Waiting for it to arrive)

  • Cot

  • Changing table / drawers with changing mat

  • Next2Me crib (still need mattress)

  • Handful of clothes / sleep suits / muslins

I will feel so much better once Iโ€™ve started getting all the smaller bits in! Aiming to paint the nursery and build the drawers this week ๐Ÿ˜…

NamelessBaby1 · 16/05/2022 18:55

Ah that's exciting @Coco9910 , it bet it will start feeling so real when you're doing that!
I'm hoping to do all that sort of thing in my 4 weeks off beforehand if baby doesn't come too early, as it will involve a lot of moving furniture around once my work desk can be put away (yay!)

chitter87 · 16/05/2022 19:45

Hello all! Jumping on board, I was on earlier threads and then disappeared, but now with only a few weeks to go (due 7th July) I feel like I need to be in the company of ladies who know ๐Ÿ˜Š

How are we all feeling?

ChinChilly · 16/05/2022 20:41

Omg you're all so much more organised than me... queue the panic stations ๐Ÿคฃ

ShellUK09 · 16/05/2022 21:18

It's lots of little practical things I need now, things like pram/crib sheets, mattress protectors, thermometer, nappy bin, change bag, change mats... Once you start making a list it never ends!

Coco9910 · 16/05/2022 21:22

@NamelessBaby1 yes definitely! Canโ€™t wait to start washing the clothes and putting them away! I feel like I really need to get a wriggle on with getting everything sorted ๐Ÿ˜‚

strawberrysummer19 · 16/05/2022 21:36

@ShellUK09 me too! Have nothing like that!!
X

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 17/05/2022 04:12

Welcome back @chitter87 !

Currently:
Iโ€™m feeling cross as I think I overdid it at work yesterday and lying awake feeling sick, a bit dizzy, and just a bit โ€œoffโ€. Husband will also be upset later when he finds out just how busy I was yesterday when I promised Iโ€™d take it easy and not try and do everything (lots of team building activities-shite going on this week)

Got another 4 days of this ultra busy period at work and Iโ€™m not sure Iโ€™m going to make it through the whole week (but have to) ๐Ÿ˜ญ

feels v over dramatic though to be complaining when there are others who work full on days like this everyday, or running around on their feet all day (I usually work from home snuggled on the sofa recently, with tea and rests and all things easy going ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Coco9910 · 17/05/2022 07:24

@HotToddyColdSauvignon hope youโ€™re feeling better! Itโ€™s perfectly acceptable to feel like that, as what you are doing this week is different to what you usually do! I can completely relate! Iโ€™ve had to tell my manager I need to slow down and start taking it easy as Iโ€™ve been doing 2 peoples jobs for the past 5 months and it turned out last week I had a viral infection from being run down. And I felt bad for saying it as I work from home most of the week and thereโ€™s people who have been pregnant and worked in the office 5 days a week, but I told myself thatโ€™s what they were used to. Iโ€™m not used to working in the office 5 days any more. And like you again, Iโ€™ve got team building days this week so one of the days Iโ€™m in the office from 8:30am and then out after work for a fun activity and food so wonโ€™t be home until 9-10pm and I honestly donโ€™t know how Iโ€™m going to do it ๐Ÿ˜…

missv556 · 17/05/2022 07:34

I am pretty much sorted with everything needed for baby. Went to the baby show and got the last few things I needed there at the weekend. My travel system is arriving today ๐Ÿ˜ very excited for that. I've been slowly buying over the course of the pregnancy so that I don't feel bombarded buying it all at once in a mad rush. And it massively helped that my mum brought a load of stuff so that I haven't had to lol and was also given some handy things from a friend who had a baby last year. Who knew such tiny people needed so many things? The one thing I haven't brought is nappies, I got one free pack in an Emma's diary bag and another friend brought me a pack of size 1 and size 2. I dont want to buy too many because I'm on track for a large baby so he may not fit size 1 for long at all. I live near shops anyway so my fiance can always duck out and grab more at any time

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 17/05/2022 07:35

Eeek @Coco9910 good luck! I got back at 10pm last night and almost cried climbing into bed!

can you sneak off for a 20 mins snooze somewhere in your office? Yesterday I basically survived by commandeering the tubs of mini muffins spread all around and working my way through them!

KizboBaggins · 17/05/2022 08:42

Has/is anyone buying a nappy bin? I tried to get the free one using the Amazon baby wish list but it didn't work ๐Ÿ˜•

Do you think it's worthwhile getting one? The bins don't look expensive but apparently you need to buy refills which seems like possibly an unnecessary ongoing expense...

missv556 · 17/05/2022 09:24

@KizboBaggins I got a Nappy bin. My sister thought it was a waste of money when I told her I'd got one. We will see. Because I'm lazy I don't see myself trekking to the kitchen to chuck a nappy in the household rubbish every time I change it. I'm in a one bedroom flat atm and the bedroom and kitchen are furthest apart and it'll work for overnight changes. At some point I'm moving into my grandmothers house and the bedrooms are 2 stories above the kitchen so again it'll work

SamanthaVimes · 17/05/2022 09:33

@KizboBaggins we didnโ€™t get a proper nappy bin, just a little generic bathroom bin with a lid. Much cheaper that way!

CaptainCarp · 17/05/2022 09:40

Just catching up on the thread as DP & DSC are still asleep so I've been able to read in peace ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hello @NotAsOldAsIFeel I thought I had a due date buddy from the earlier threads but couldn't remember who!

Currently on holiday at the moment. Did 11,000 steps on Sunday during a day trip & was suffering (my usual high day is 8K). Sympathy to all that have done something out of the ordinary & are suffering for it.

Lots of you seem so prepeared! I still need to get a car seat.
Also think after we are back I need to seriously start thinking about packing a hospital bag... 33weeks now so only 6 weeks to go!
Mum was bang on time with all of us & with having gestational diabetes I may have a slight chance of coming early - 1 midwife said it was likely but all the others just keep saying they'll "not allow" me to go over so will induce. So who knows.

I've got a home visit at 37 weeks to go through safe sleeping so hopefully baby doesn't come to early!

I've only booked a week before my due date as holiday then maternity to start from my due date so it'll probably come the Monday I have holiday ๐Ÿ˜‚

KizboBaggins · 17/05/2022 09:47

@missv556 @SamanthaVimes thanks both! I think I'll go with normal bin in the nursery to start with. I keep forgetting that I don't have the get everything for when baby arrives... like there will still be shops and Amazon prime after he's home lol.

@CaptainCarp ahh I'm jealous you're on holiday! Whereabouts are you? I'm currently wfh and finding MN much more interesting than work... Yeah similarly I did I think 13k steps on Sunday (thanks to the dog and a trip to the arcades with DSS) and felt very tired after, normally I can handle it but I'm definitely also sensing a shift in what I'm able to do. Reluctant to accept it though!

Did they tell you when they will induce? Will it be 40 weeks if baby hasn't made an appearance by then?

CaptainCarp · 17/05/2022 11:30

@KizboBaggins I'm currently on a canal boat! Near Milton Keynes.
It's surprisingly relaxing as I was a bit worried about space & clambering on/off.

I am definitely feeling it in my hips / lower back and I'm only 1.4 Kg heavier now than at booking in so don't think it's a weight thing.

No but reading on line it suggests they will induce sometime between 40-41 weeks.... I think depending on how big baby is estimated at on scans.

KizboBaggins · 17/05/2022 11:57

@CaptainCarp ahh that sounds like so much fun! I would love a canal boat. We're going "glamping" in the Lake District during the long bank holiday and I was also concerned about laying on a hard wooden bed and being able to sleep, but if you can cope in a canal boat I'm sure I'll cope in a wooden pod ๐Ÿ˜…

strawberrysummer19 · 17/05/2022 13:16

I had my 30wk midwife check today and she said it could be as little from 7 weeks now....that made it feel a bit closer !!!

I think my consultant said I wouldn't be allowed to do full term the last time we spoke but I think I'll start my hospital bag sooner rather than later now xx
