@madeleine85 i sleep trained both my boys from really young I did bath, bottle and bed and it worked a treat for my boys I used the special bedtime bubble bath and they loved it and it really soothed them to sleep I will be doing the same with this little lady xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/05/2022 17:30

@annlee3817 I also have reflux and pregnancy blocked nose so I am constantly congested so yeah I can't breathe in those I had one midwife kick up a fuss about it so I walked out and requested another one xx

madeleine85 · 31/05/2022 17:41

Thank you everyone for the tips/where to look items! I'm a "needs a project" person, and feel like last time we didn't do any research, and sleep training was a disaster, resulting in a very expensive night nurse fixing it over a weekend at 8 months old! A lot was learned, but now keen to do what I can from day 1.

@annlee3817 I hate the mask situation, but covid would be worse. Where I am I know that you have to wear it at all drs appointments, in the hospital, except when in the final stages of pushing etc. Frankly dreading it and it is one of the many reasons I am going to be begging to get released from the hospital ASAP, though honestly the main one will be wanting to be home with DD.

I'm US based so likely different, but I'm eligible for a 2nd booster due to being pregnant, which i'm trying to time in late June/early July to maximise antibodies close to due date, so hopefully that helps. I also found that the TDAPP vaccine (whooping cough) although it lasts 10 years is recommended here in each pregnancy to give highest chances of antibodies passing, so i'll be getting that soon as I think now i'm in the time range. 27 weeks today, one more till technically 3rd trimester I think? Though as I know I can get induced at 39 weeks it is really just 12 maximum left to go!!! Hope some other mums to be are in our position and are looking forward to the home stretch 😀

annlee3817 · 31/05/2022 17:44

@madeleine85 yep just one week left of the 2nd trimester for us, not sure it's the same over there? NHS website is 28 weeks, but other googling throws up different lol same.as you though, 12 weeks left until induction :)

Butterflytulip · 31/05/2022 22:10

@madeleine85 I think for the first 6 months we went with the flow... then we introduced routine. Supper snack, bath, body lotion, books, no noise, lights low etc to get them used to night time routine.
We had various regressions and eventually went with sleeping in room with little one at around 8-10 months and sneaked out when asleep, eventually she went down on her own without us staying with her. Once you take them out of the cot they cry until you pick them up.
Everyone will have a technique that works for them and their baby 💕

Redapple21 · 01/06/2022 06:58

@madeleine85 have you looked up TakingCaraBabies on insta? She has some really good stories on 'newborn' and I'm thinking of taking her online newborn class. She's based in US. A few girls on the fb group also mentioned her as being quite good. I'm the same, want to be as informed as I can, even though at first it's probably just a case of rolling with it!

Flibbyjibby · 01/06/2022 15:44

I know it’s a bit early but has anybody started packing their hospital bag yet? This is baby no.2 and I’ve been struggling to feel the excitement I felt when pregnant with DD. Wondered if packing my bag would make it feel a bit more real!

Butterflytulip · 01/06/2022 16:08

Nope @Flibbyjibby last time I packed it at around 34 weeks !! Prob be about same time this time. I'm having a planned c section so bag won't be too bulky second time round !!! Must get baby clothes down from attic !!!

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 01/06/2022 16:19

I'm planning to pack my bag at 30 weeks, but I am buying things to put in it all the time. I want to be as prepared as possible. I packed it at 30 weeks last time and DD arrived at 35 weeks.

annlee3817 · 01/06/2022 19:31

I'll probably pack mine at around 34 weeks, last time it was packed early as was high risk for prem labour. I'd pack later, but we'll be moving at around 35 weeks and don't want to forget. Just going to pack snacks, a drinks bottle with a straw that goes to the bottom and still lucozade, then the clothes and nappies and water wipes. DH gets freaked out a bit by cotton wool lol

Butterflytulip · 02/06/2022 20:29

How's everyone keeping?
I had a check up yesterday at 26 weeks. All was good. Little one still measuring a week behind although no concerns. Think it's a little girl... couldn't see an obvious penis. Is it obvious for those who know they are having boys?!

Feeling good, don't need the pregnancy pillow yet as sleeping well and actually walking at good speed too. Feel better this pregnancy, think the gym and swimming is helping me stay more mobile..

Haven't bought a thing yet! Saw mamas and papas have a 40% off event on and I was so tempted but we are keeping the sex a suprise so I don't want to buy any more neutral. We have all that from first pregnancy.

I have a snuz pod next to me fri for my girl who used it for 7 months 2020-2021... do I still need to buy a replacement mattress for it?? They don't seem to be expensive but it feels like it was barely used!!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/06/2022 22:12

@Butterflytulip very obviously I have 2 boys and I could literally see everything they were never shy about showing their goods lol xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/06/2022 22:15

Baby shopping is nearly complete only a car seat and the nappies and wipes to get feel like i have done it's so early.. stuff still stored at my parents how is everyone else getting on?? Xx

Em85kk · 02/06/2022 22:21

I keep buying little bits whenever I go out. It feels early but I’m trying to be positive. Anxiety keeps creeping in though and it’s driving me mad. Some days movements are quieter than others and I think it’s to do with position and anterior placenta. I was worried the other evening as I hadn’t felt much but then later on I did and it was so low and to the side which makes me think it’s baby’s position. I just feel like I need the constant kicks for reassurance and if it goes quiet that’s it, anxiety rises and it makes me feel really low.

madeleine85 · 02/06/2022 22:58

@Em85kk i'm 27 weeks and also anterior placenta. Some days get a lot of kicks, others I feel next to nothing still. I am assuming it will just be this way the whole pregnancy now. I had a drs check up last week and she is older and very experienced, and struggled to find the heartbeat with the doppler just due to the anterior placenta. It honestly was a little reassuring to know it obviously is big and in the way of everything. She commented that he was hiding behind his cushion and could only find the heart beat very low down, but that it was good. She also said that if I can't do kick count tests (which I can't), that the test should be "are the kicks getting stronger when you do feel them" which I do agree is happening. When I do feel things it is either a stab to my ribs, or very low down. but they are getting stronger over time. Kind of similar on the i'm hesitant to get a lot of things early as it still feels too disconnected (also some space restrictions and I have total OCD about things cluttering my flat). I think i'll start getting the last things at 32 weeks, or 35 weeks. I did see a genius tip that I will be getting, and that is a little 3 level rolling cart on wheels for post pardum supplies so that I can take it where needed in my house. I'll stock it with my pump and parts, all the post pardum supplies for cleaning up, pads, witch hazel, wipes, cooling things etc. After, I'll just repurpose it as something for my toddler's painting supplies. Anyway, it was useful (I think) so figured i'd share.

Butterflytulip · 02/06/2022 23:10

Haha @Sweetbabydust1989 I think most definitely a girl then 💕

Is there a new thread? This one sinister maxed out

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/06/2022 23:16

@Butterflytulip iam not sure lovely i duck in and out as I am healing from a car accident xx

Em85kk · 03/06/2022 04:57

@madeleine85 thanks, that’s good to know. I think that’s what I’ve been telling myself, but the self doubt always creeps in. I’ve been awake for an hour as I think he’s playing football in there this morning, so he’s obviously in the right position for me to feel everything right now. Just wish it would stay like that!

HaresHoping · 03/06/2022 06:26

I've just created us a new thread here for when we need it:

Due September 2022 (Thread 7!) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/4561611-due-september-2022-thread-7

We had a bit of a mad day of buying baby things yesterday. After stressing about the pram / cot / mattress etc for weeks and weeks and agonising about which one to get... just went and did it! 🥳 I feel so much lighter (and so does my purse haha).

Mamas and Papas in Leeds has a 50% off sale and in Ikea you get £10 off. £100 spend until 5th June if you're a Family member, so it was well timed.

We went for the Flip XT2 bundle with a Maxi Cosi car seat, and the Gonatt cot from Ikea which turns into a toddler bed later. Also got a high chair, mattress, bibs, muslins... all sorts from IKEA. Actually felt quite excited which was lovely ☺️
