@TurquoiseDreamCatcher ooh magnesium spray! Have you found it's helped at all yet? Guess it might take a bit of time to kick in. I have thankfully had a bit more sleep the past couple of nights 🙏🏻 waking up early but at least I'm dropping off in the first place! How are you getting on? (Also what your dd said is just 🥺)

@madeleine85 wow 6 weeks early, that must have been a bit scary. Good that you have that solid distraction to keep your mind occupied until mid August, I hope you still get some time to chill though bless you! You sound much more energetic and driven than me, I am already literally counting down the weeks to finishing work 😂

We are off pram shopping this afternoon 🤩😬 it's been stressing me out so am looking forward to hopefully making a decision and getting it boxed off. Going to one of those massive places that's sells literally everything you could ever need so expecting to be fully overwhelmed 😂 hoping to get furniture bits off Facebook marketplace though to save some cash so not expecting we will go too mad.

Also in terms of naps downstairs, I was thinking we will use the carry cot from whichever travel system we choose. We're in a town house so then going to maybe get a Moses basket / bassinet thing for the middle floor, then use a next to me crib (borrowed from a friend) on the top floor so there is somewhere to put him down on each floor.

HaresHoping · 28/05/2022 04:46

Oh and @Redapple21 I get that surreal omg there's a baby thing all. The. Time 😂 it blows my mind. I think it's because I've been thinking about it as a concept for so many years, and it took us a while to have a baby that stuck around, then all the stress with our tests and whether he was ok, that I find it hard to believe he's really there. I think I'll still be in shock when he arrives tbh 😂

legaltigger · 28/05/2022 04:56

Mum is ok. She seems at peace with the fact that her finger has to come off (which I admire because I would freak the fuck out) but is very worried about the thought that it has spread. She's not sleeping very well.

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 28/05/2022 08:27

@HaresHoping the magnesium spray keeps me asleep solidly for a good chunk for the first part of the night. I still wake up at 3 then struggle to go back to sleep so I feel like a zombie.

Last night my husband was awake in the middle of the night because he wasn't feeling very well. Because I'm hormonal and irrational, I wanted to kill him rather than be kind to him.

dkedm15 · 28/05/2022 09:39

Em85kk · 27/05/2022 20:05

@dkedm15 ha ha brilliant, which colour did you go for?

Yeah, I’m used to it my mum has no filter! I think she actually believed there might be two, even though I’ve had 5 scans, she said it might be hiding 🙄😂

Chickened out and went for black - hoping that my clumsy DH will find it difficult to mark/stain 🤣 which one did you go for? Have the best time at the baby show today! Xx

dkedm15 · 28/05/2022 09:42

@Em85kk wow 😳 god if she saw me she'd think there were 5 in there! Really hope you're okay - try not to take too much notice (esp if this is what she's normally like) xx

HaresHoping · 28/05/2022 09:43

Bless you and your mum @legaltigger ❤️ sending you so much love. Your mum sounds like a hero and so do you.

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher I feel you there... I'm definitely getting on the irrational side of things now. And the middle of the night is certainly not a time for a pregnant lady to be trifled with 😂❤️

Em85kk · 28/05/2022 10:26

@dkedm15 oh I don’t! I’m used to it now ha ha. It’s nice having a big bump, at least now you can really see I’m pregnant and not just fat 😂

We went for black too, it’s washed black so looks a bit like denim. I made the mistake last time of getting a bright purple pram! Don’t get me wrong I loved it, but makes it harder to sell on. I’d have kept it but it was just too big and heavy.

Thanks! Looking forward to it!xx

PrettyTulip · 28/05/2022 14:16

Just to let you know I nipped into homesense earlier and they had their pregnancy support/baby tummy time cushions reduced. I picked one up for £9 and hope if it doesn't help me sleep then at least it will be a good sitting support for baba!! Hope you guys have the same locally too!

annlee3817 · 29/05/2022 06:12

@legaltigger sorry to read about your Mum's glad it was caught early though.

@madeleine85 pleased that all went ok at the docs

@Celyn22 hope you're feeling a little better now

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher my DD has been making my heart melt, it's her birthday on Wednesday and she keeps saying she doesn't care about it and just wants it to be August when she gets to meet her baby sister 😍 constantly mentions her and has a special hug for her (hugging my bump) and then a Mummy cuddle which is around my neck :)

@Redapple21 yes, I think I'm finding it more surreal this time around than the first lol

Sorry if these are such delayed responses by the way, trying to catch up. I wrote a whole reply with tags the other day and it didn't work 🙄

annlee3817 · 29/05/2022 06:15

Stayed at my parents last night and forgot my pregnancy pillow, rubbish night's sleep, so uncomfortable, didn't realise how much I rely on it.

Was going to get a spare for here, but we're going to be living here for a month from the end of June whilst our house hopefully goes through 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Celyn22 · 29/05/2022 08:56

Thank you for your kind words @HaresHoping. I feel like I lean on those around me enough as it is... I have an incredibly supportive family and partner, I’m just struggling with feeling like I don’t have my independence. Thinking as well of the example I’m setting my little boy as I’m supposed to be a role model for him!

@madeleine85 the doctor saying “oh no you don’t” made me laugh... thank you! ;) Yes I am so lucky and somehow manifested my dream place to live - I just didn’t account for the difficulties earning when you live somewhere so remote without reliably stable internet! As for Etsy, I’ve had a look on there for some inspiration, but I’m not sure what I could make well enough to sell... your comment inspired me to get my whittling knife out again though and I’ve just started making a birthday gift for my DP, so if all goes well then maybe it’ll be wooden carved things. I suppose there’s no harm in starting slow right now. Thank you for your reply

Peauela · 30/05/2022 08:01

@LittlemissMama67 omg that is so scary! Thankfully you're all ok!

@legaltigger such sad news... I've never heard of that kind of cancer! Hopefully your mom will recover soon 💕 sending love and hugs

@madeleine85 omg things are getting real now huh? 😁

@Redapple21 that's totally me. Especially that I feel fine most of time apart from my swollen feet. I'm only really starting to pop now so it gets more real. But I still can't believe that in some 16 weeks we'll have a child!!!!!! Crazy 😅

@TurquoiseDreamCatcher omg those sibling moments are so cute! This is our first but I love stories like yours 💕

*Is anyone else struggling with swollen feet and ankles?
*
I know this question popped up on a Facebook group already. I feel like my office job and sitting all day + me being classed as obese makes things worse and it started pretty early for me. I'll be 24 weeks on Wednesday and we're going away to Italy on Friday and I developed this fear of DVT because of all this even though my pregnancy so far is uncomplicated and all blood and urine tests + blood pressure come back fine each time. I have my 24 week GP visit on Friday morning before we leave. I have already asked my GP and one of the midwives about the swelling and they said it's normal and some women just get it earlier than others...

REH_ · 30/05/2022 09:12

Has anyone started antenatal classes yet?
I've been looking at online ones but they seem so expensive!

annlee3817 · 30/05/2022 10:25

@REH_ no, I did NCT last time, and whilst I've made a few good friends from it, I wouldn't do it again. Most of the stuff you can find online and through asking your midwife. It was good to have people to chat to in the early days, but my Mumsnet FB group was also absolutely amazing for that, could post in the middle of the night and always someone awake to share woes with or offer advice. Your hospital may do some free ones, I know that some NHS trusts don't do them anymore.

TurquoiseDreamCatcher · 30/05/2022 11:41

@Peauela I had swollen feet in my last pregnancy, the midwife didn't seemed concerned. My work place was amazing and let me wear slipper in the office as I couldn't get my shoes on anymore!

@REH_ I did the NCT, well half of it, then my daughter came early. I was disappointed with it, I expected to make friends but I didn't. After DD came early, I asked the group leader to create an WhatsApp group so we could stay in contact with the others. She didn't, and I never saw those people again. I made some lovely friends at a baby class and they are still good friends 4 and a half years later.

legaltigger · 30/05/2022 13:05

Thank you everyone. It's a really worrying time. She had a stage 0 lump removed from her breast a couple of years ago. This one was a bit of a surprise.

Butterflytulip · 30/05/2022 15:01

Do your local health areas not offer antenatal classes for free? In lockdown last time round it was all online but was enough along with internet to get the basics! The hynobirthing course online is amazing. Would defo recommend that even just for knowledge. I over stimulated to the induction process and without my knowledge gained in the hynobirthing I wouldn't have known or recognised the signs. I had to alert someone and it was decided to snort induction and go for c section.. you pay for that but money well spent

madeleine85 · 31/05/2022 06:26

Random question to the mums to be: does anyone have any early days/weeks night sleep tips for the baby? I had a nicu experience last time so missed the first 3 weeks. I know we can’t truly sleep train for the first 4 months, but I have a friend with a 3 month old who has gone through the night pretty much since day 1. I’m keen to hear any tips and tricks people have just in case anything helps. I remember 3-6am with DD being the witching hour of awake time. This time, I’m planning to swaddle, bottle feed the last one of the night so I know how much is in his belly, use a white noise machine and an orange coloured light for aiding melatonin, try burping techniques etc. Likely nothing we can do in the early days but let the little guy adjust, but I’m all ears in case anyone has magical tips!

madeleine85 · 31/05/2022 06:29

Also if anyone has any sleep conditioning/training books, blogs or resources, please feel free to share the names. I’d love a read for something to do. I’m at the point I can’t set up a nursery (space restrictions) so maybe this is my attempt at nesting/prepping!

annlee3817 · 31/05/2022 08:01

@madeleine85 my DD was a wonderful sleeper for the first four months, would usually only wake up once, bottle before bed, swaddled with arms out, but nothing special. Then we hit the four month sleep regression and it all went wrong.... Lol

They're all so different though, we sleep trained at seven months and used the pick up put down method, not recommended for earlier than six months though.

Sorry that wasn't much help, I won't be sleep training until six months, five at a push.

Celyn22 · 31/05/2022 15:25

@Peauela yes... I thought I’d escaped swollen feet but realised a few days ago that not only are my already chipalata-toes chunkier but also my ankles are thickening out! I’m having to do a lot of body image adjustments! I heard that on planes especially when pregnant, try standing and walking around as much as possible to avoid DVT. Enjoy your time in Italy!

@madeleine85 Ina May Gaskin has talked about sleep aid and I'll look up some links tomorrow if I remember! But I'm sure typing her name with 'sleep' into YouTube will throw up some great videos :)

annlee3817 · 31/05/2022 16:39

I really don't relish wearing a mask in pregnancy, god knows how pregnant women coped when the pandemic was at its worse and mask wearing everywhere. I'm at the hospital for a routine eye appointment and it's absolutely baking, mask is making me feel sick.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 31/05/2022 17:26

@annlee3817 I don't even wear one for hospitals due to ongoing morning sickness I am not throwing up in that xx

annlee3817 · 31/05/2022 17:28

@Sweetbabydust1989 yeah I don't blame you not wearing one with sickness!
