This is how Callie is feeding today and it's driving me round the twist.

@JMill13 she is feeding good isn't she! We was recommended to put him on hungry baby milk as he's taking 6oz every 3 hours and we're going through a lot of milk so we've just done his last feed of the night with a hungry baby bottle so fingers crossed it fills him up for a few more hours, just introducing it slowly first before deciding if it's going to be a full time thing or not x

JMill13 · 29/06/2022 06:15

@MissM94 she is. 3/4 hourly she'll take anything from 3-5oz absolutely no idea what yesterday's snacking was about.

Did the hungry milk make any difference for you last night?

MissM94 · 29/06/2022 09:00

So his pre moving into the next to me crib routine was going down and having a 5 hour stretch of sleep then waking around 2-3 for a feed then again 5-6 so he woke up at 2:30 last night about 4 hours after his last feed so it wasn't as long as it normally is tbh and he only had 3 oz's of his milk, so i don't think he was as hungry as he thought he was it was probably just cos he normally wakes at that time so tonight I might try just settling him back off to sleep with his dummy or something to pacify him.. so didn't really see much a difference using that milk, so hopefully as he gets used to it it'll make him go longer! Perks of having a greedy baby ey 😅 how was your night?

Kittycaz · 29/06/2022 10:04

Hey everyone it's been a hectic few weeks just caught up with the messages am sorry to hear people are struggling with bfing. I've been drinking hot tea mama milk up tea twice a day and it's helped allot. Ds sleep at night is varied but he does go in his basket have to put him in a grobag for it to work though. He's screaming at night in his sleep and it scares me half to death then he will settle like an angel and make me out to be a liar. I am quite bitter that DH has freedom to go out and do things when I'm quite limited. Leo hates going in shops but settles in pram when the sky is above him. I've been storing breastmilk for a back up supply almost got enough that mum can take Leo 1 night and I can have a gin for 1st time in 11 months but not sure how I will feel about leaving him I love him to much. Got his jabs next Tuesday and it's going to be tough I hated when he had his tongue tie snipped his little whimper broke me.

I had a bath after 4 weeks no soap in it though but at 6 weeks I had my 1st bubble bath while ds slept and It was bliss. My stitches from my 3rd degree tear were examined by hv at 6 weeks. X

@MissM94 we're back to normal feeds today. No clue what yesterday was about but she still slept her normal 8-7 with a feed at 2;30 and 6:30 so happy enough with that. Some nights she'll do 8-4 before her first feed other times she'll do 8-10:30pm and have a random feed. I'm just following her lead really. My boy was having 2 hourly feeds till he was about 10 months old and he was only taking 4-5oz at a time, was brutal. So this I'm happy with.

Hopefully he gets used to the new milk soon. Think it can take up to 2 weeks for any new milk to settle into their systems and notice any differences.

JMill13 · 06/07/2022 14:29

Hi all

Hope you're all doing great and the babies have all started sleeping for you!

I had my 6 week postnatal check yesterday...over the phone with a nurse! 3 minutes I was on the phone and 1 of those was her getting my notes up. Absolute waste of everyone's time.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 06/07/2022 18:54

@JMill13 -- I agree, that checkup was useless.

I did book a session with a private women's health physio who did a full physical exam, including pelvic floor, checking for prolapses, and a diastasis recti abdominal exam. It wasn't cheap but it was so worth it!! (I'm going to try to submit it to my insurance to see if they'll cover any of it.)

I'm glad to know where I stand on healing and what sort of physical activity I should be doing. 🙂

JMill13 · 06/07/2022 20:22

@aNewYorkerInLondon ooh that sounds like a good idea! Fingers crossed your insurance covers at least some of it

Bubbasmama2017 · 06/07/2022 22:29

@JMill13 that's awful! Luckily my surgery are doing them face to face but not til 8 weeks.

I'm struggling this evening! Basically baby has decided not to nap other than about 3 x 10 minute naps the whole afternoon and is now a very tired little girl but still refusing to sleep! I want to go to bed!

JMill13 · 06/07/2022 22:48

@Bubbasmama2017 nooo! It's absolutely hateful when they do that!
Hopefully she goes over soon for you.

Callie has been doing one nap a day recently just on me, for some reason that one nap every afternoon she refuses to be anywhere but lying on her belly on my chest. I'm not complaining cause gives me the perfect excuse to do absolutely nothing but about to have both kids for the next 2 weeks as the other half's parents are going on holiday tomorrow, so she's going to have to get used to pram naps instead.

Bubbasmama2017 · 06/07/2022 23:10

@JMill13 I'd love to do pram naps but she is refusing to sleep in there too!
I'm not very optimistic for getting much sleep tonight ;-(

JMill13 · 07/07/2022 07:40

@Bubbasmama2017 ah they do like to keep us on our toes don't they. I hope you managed even a little sleep last night. We've been up from 4 with the toddler 🙈

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/07/2022 08:06

@JMill13 thanks oh no 4am is way way too early! She did eventually go to sleep just after 11 and only woke at 4.30 for a feed then up for the day at 7.30 so wasn't too bad. Wondering now if it was the heat keeping her up?

JMill13 · 07/07/2022 21:57

@Bubbasmama2017 that's not a bad stretch. Could be the heat, is it really hot where you are? Summer seems to be mostly avoiding us over here so far.

Had the 8 week jabs this afternoon 😭

YfenniChristie · 08/07/2022 02:18

Morning everyone, been a while since I posted. Struggling to sleep here as it's so warm, and DS had his 8 week jabs this morning so a little out of sorts.

That said, his night time sleeping pattern is killing - there's simply no consistency! Last night he slept in 2hr blocks, the night before he slept for an hour here and half hour there, no rhyme or reason, just different every night.

However he is a happy little soul, and very smiley and coos at me and DH in conversation.

EastMidsGem · 08/07/2022 20:56

@YfenniChristie sounds about the same as mine! We'll feed him and put him down at night, then he'll wake up half an hour or so later because he's done a wee, then he'll sleep for an hour or two until he wants feeding again. I think I had one night where he slept for nearly 3 and a half hours between a feed and I thought it was improving but it was just a fluke!

I can't be mad with him though, he had to have surgery on Tuesday under general anaesthetic which was really rough on all of us and he's still recovering. It was a foot operation so not too intrusive but still he was sore for a couple of days and needed even more cuddles than normal

Doesn't sound like he's drinking as much as all of yours either! No wonder he's not at the weight they want him to be at but there are so many hospital appointments, it's so hard to force more down him as I feel guilty. He is gaining weight at a steady rate but he's not high enough on the chart for their liking I guess

Bubbasmama2017 · 08/07/2022 22:06

Not much consistency over here either. Baby girl is awake most of the evening with a could of 10 minute naps until 10, 11 oclock most nights is that normal? She will be feeding on and off most of that time. I tried putting her to bed at the same time as my older daughter a couple of nights ago but we were back upstairs to feed her half an hour later then she was awake with us til we went to bed at 11.

JMill13 · 09/07/2022 12:55

@Bubbasmama2017 totally normal ☺️

Bubbasmama2017 · 09/07/2022 19:18

@JMill13 thanks! I have that app too ☺️

JMill13 · 09/07/2022 20:29

@Bubbasmama2017 I'm contemplating paying for the pro version. I had the basic before pro was a thing and it helped with my toddlers sleep when he was little as much as it could (he's just an absolutely crap sleeper from birth till now, so not much helps) it definitely made nap times better though.

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/07/2022 07:28

We just had the worst night since bubba n2 was born, not sure if it's because of the leap she's in, the heat or something else but she just couldn't sleep and was non stop feeding all evening. then woke at midnight and so many times during the night with us pacing round the room trying to get her back to sleep!
Has anyone else had a bad night?

YfenniChristie · 11/07/2022 08:30

🙋🏼‍♀️ Yep, have had a dreadful night (and the night before). Usually if he doesn't sleep during my shift (10pm - 4am), he'll sleep during DH's shift (4am - 7.30am) but not today.

I think it's the weather. I've told DH that DS and I will try sleeping downstairs tonight to see if it makes difference. I'm really hoping it does because I am not coping with the lack of sleep very well.

MissM94 · 11/07/2022 11:34

It's just gotten to the point now that I just don't even enjoy being a mum, feel like I've made a massive mistake and I just don't know how I've made a baby so bad as my own. Please don't judge me, it isn't PND it's just the harsh reality of having a baby that is so opposite to everyone else's. He's never been able to be put down, he won't sleep in his crib, he won't fall asleep unless it's on us and he doesn't make that easy he will scream the place down or fuss for about 20 minutes, he doesn't enjoy his play mat, he won't sleep in the day, he won't stay asleep if put down in his Moses basket or chair when he's asleep, he won't go to sleep if there's stuff going on around him, he won't go to sleep in his pram & he's got reflux. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing is easy with him, it's absolutely draining and I just don't know what to do anymore

Kittycaz · 11/07/2022 13:20

@MissM94 hi hun (virtual hug) Leo was the same at the beginning until I started using the love to dream swaddle. He sleeps allot better in his own cot now. He was in moses basket but he's huge so he's in his cot now. With the heat I've been using a dream baby fan clipped onto his cot blowing air above Leo rather than at him so it keeps him relatively cool.

He's had a few bad nights as his tummy has been icky since the rotavirus vaccine been throwing up allot and he wakes up crying allot from the pain and I feel useless not being able to help. He had reflux anyway but it's just made it worse. Still tries to breast feed from his dad though 😂 x
