@autumn321 Massive congratulations!! Xx That's wonderful that you've got your baby girl. Hopefully she'll be out of the neonatal unit soon. I was wondering when the first baby would arrive!

@JMill13 me and my friend were discussing just that last night as it happens because she's had both planned and emergency due to a problem with her cervix. Her first baby, she was in labour for 18 hours before they did an emergency c-section and she said it was so much more painful the recovery because she was so exhausted from being in labour so long. The subsequent 2 were planned c-sections although she still went into labour before the planned date of one. She wasn't in labour anywhere near as long as they knew they had to do a c-section. So both the other 2 were a lot calmer and painkillers much more effective. I am quite nervous about mine on 26th April but then nice to know that's the latest date I'll be having him

@fejkalove I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time! Hopefully you have a nice relaxing Easter weekend to recover x

@autumn321

Hi everyone, just thought i would post an update here, i havent been the most active member on this thread but ive been reading and following all your journey's! So my due date was the 25th May.. but i became a mummy on Wednesday! Our little girl was born at 34 weeks by c-section. I had been in hospital for 2 weeks with various problems which i wont go into but it was decided the best thing for me and baby was to deliver her early. Shes on the neonatal unit now, we're both doing well and im completely and utterly in love Smile
@autumn321, such great news! So glad you and baby are well! Congratulations!! 🍾
YfenniChristie · 15/04/2022 11:12

@autumn321 Congratulations! Hope you and baby are doing well and able to go home soon.

I've had a quick nose at my local trust's website, and they haven't updated their rules since August 2021 either 🙄 From what I'm reading though, it sounds like DH can't be with me until I'm in active labour.

Kittycaz · 15/04/2022 13:25

@autumn321 congratulations this was great news to read today a beautiful Easter baby.

My midwife said that my husband can be with me throughout labour but I'm not holding my breath. Last time I was at hospital we noticed the Costa coffee across the road if they tell him he can't be on the ward with me he's gonna go there rather than go home so he's close by if it all kicks off quite quickly. Although if I'm gonna be induced (which I will find out Wednesday) I've been told he will stay with me at all times and I will demand it anyway and be stubborn. After LO is here I understand if he goes home gets some rest while we are looked after by nurses and Dr's.

18 hours? Oh my god your poor friend! definitely makes me so glad and thankful that I didn't start the labour process last time.

26th is so close now. Once you have him in your arms it'll all have been worth it.

@YfenniChristie crazy that they've not updated anything in so long! Hopefully the rules have changed by the time these babies come. I just keep reminding myself I did it in proper lockdown last time so anything has to be better than that at this point.

MissM94 · 15/04/2022 22:05

Thanks for the new thread! 😁 I've been rubbish on this, I tend to use the Facebook group more! Currently 35+6 & Went on our traditional good Friday walk today, ended up being about 7km and my hips/thighs and vagina are absolutely battered! Feel like I'm carrying a brick when I try and walk 😩

YummyMummyXoX · 15/04/2022 22:38

Congrats @autumn321 glad you and your baby are doing well. Well done I hope get home as soon as your both ready 💕

Bubbasmama2017 · 17/04/2022 06:40

@autumn321 congratulations! X

Sarah239 · 17/04/2022 08:24

@autumn321 ohhh congratulations! Hope you and little one are doing ok and you enjoy your newborn bubble and you get her (and you!) home soon xx so happy for you.

Sooo I've had "a cold" for the past 5 days and done a lateral flow this morning to double check as was seeing family today (got negatives twice last week) and it's now positive 🙈 So far for me it's been like a very standard common cold, I actually think I feel over the worst of it, my throat/cough feels better and now my main symptom is an incredibly annoying runny nose. My hope now is that I somehow manage not to pass it to my husband, so far he is ok. Little one seems ok, she's still moving a lot and making her appearance felt 🤞

Feeling grateful for my immune system. Also feeling grateful that maternity unit at hospital have just said they are no longer requiring LFTs from birth partners, otherwise I think I'd be beside myself with worry right now that he would catch it and not be allowed at birth if I went into premature labour.

Happy Easter Sunday everyone... haven't prepped anything for Easter or got any eggs so will have to get some on offer after the date 😅

morphe · 17/04/2022 11:23

Thanks for the new thread @Kittycaz.

Congratulations @autumn321! I'm glad you're both doing well and hope she doesn't have to stay on the neonatal unit for too much longer.

Happy Easter everyone! I've had a few busy days out with my preschooler, taking her to Easter egg hunts and funfairs. Did a fair bit of walking just going to and from places, it's definitely getting harder and I'm having to sit and rest a bit more.

My pre-op is booked for 25 April and the c-section is booked for 27 April. But last night I felt the baby drop more and BH are more frequent, so I'm worried that the baby won't wait until then. We were going to take my DD out to an exhibition today a few miles away, but I'm staying home instead and DH has taken her to a local park. My body just feels like it did just before previous labours and I have a feeling it's going to happen soon, although I"m not getting regular contractions.

@Sarah239 Sorry to hear you've got Covid, though it sounds like you're feeling OK. I hope your DH manages to avoid getting it and it doesn't complicate him being there for the birth. My hospital are insisting on PCRs at the pre-op, which is going to be stressful worrying that DH might test positive (we will test with LFTs ourselves but I know sometimes that people can have negative LFTs and positive PCRs).

Kittycaz · 17/04/2022 12:35

Happy Easter everyone. Last few days I've struggled to sleep I keep getting lower back pain and stitch like pains along the side of my bump. And cramping in the evenings very strong braxton hicks. What's strange aswell (sorry for the tmi) but with my iron tablets I've been really struggling with bowel movements but last 2 days it's like my body is detoxing itself very loose even though I'm on a stupid amount of iron tablets. I've been bouncing on my ball last few days and continuing my colostrum harvesting I've almost got 8ml frozen. And it's starting to feel like I've got a ball shoved up my hoo hah 😂 I can definatley tell I'm getting to the end now. See what they say Wednesday at my scan and what consultant say am so excited to meet my LO it seems everything is slotting into place nicely just want him safe and here now. By the way does anyone know if the bounty photographers are back on the ward? I know they weren't during covid but now we can have 2 birth partners thought the bounty people might be back and wanna be prepared. X

Sarah239 · 17/04/2022 14:47

@morphe thank you, yes I'm doing ok thanks. I hope your little one stays put for now! Best of luck with the c-section and take care xx

I really need to finish packing my hospital bag...!

MrsMay19 · 17/04/2022 19:06

@Sarah239 I need to start packing my bag 🙈

JMill13 · 17/04/2022 22:17

I also need to start packing my hospital bag🙈 though thankfully I have most things I need to pack bought. Just need slippers, nighties and stuff like that really. Oh and need to buy formula, no idea why I keep putting it off.

H0peing · 17/04/2022 22:38

@autumn321 Congratulations!!! Xx

YfenniChristie · 18/04/2022 07:42

Hope everyone has had a great Easter! We've spent the weekend finishing off our hospital bag, just a few tiny bits that need adding. Can I àsk what everyone is intending on labouring in?

I've packed a long vest which is quite loose and goes down to about mid-thigh, I can also slip it off my shoulders easily enough to do skin-to-skin/breastfeed, but I'm wondering if it's the right choice?

Sarah239 · 18/04/2022 10:39

@YfenniChristie I've got four button down nighties and a nursing bra for labour in my hospital bag. And flip flops!

I'm not really sure if I should pack socks or anything like sweatpants/leggings/bottoms, but I haven't yet! I'm expecting it to be pretty hot on the ward.

GinnyBee · 18/04/2022 11:29

Congrats @autumn321 ! Glad to hear you're both well.

I've now officially entered the completely over this stage of pregnancy. I wasn't far off before, I've found being pregnant overall quite annoying, but at least I was well and didn't have any major complaints. I've now not slept well for over a week, I keep waking up in the middle of the night and if I manage to go back to sleep quickly I then wake up again at least once, sometimes more. If I don't manage to get back to sleep I'm wide awake for 3 hours before getting sleepy again and then waste all morning sleeping in. And my Garmin is recording stress peaks WHILST I sleep! So restful sleep is a thing of the past, my body battery is barely charging. Three weeks to go! 😴

And because I'm sleeping badly all I want to do is eat!

I've just thrown some last bits in my hospital bag. Didn't want to pack them too soon as still wanted to wear them, but I've now decided I can go three weeks without. I think I have:
2 x button down nighties
1 x set of pyjamas
1 x high waist lounge pants for going home in
1 x loose nursing top for going home in
1 x dressing gown
1 x slippers
5 x big pants
2 x comfy nursing bras
1 x fluffy socks

And overnight toiletries etc. Still need to get a long charging cable for my phone, decide which book to take, and try to remember my pillows, ear plugs and eye mask when we go in as I still use those every night.

I hope that's enough? I don't plan to be in long, hoping to get away with just one night.

Kittycaz · 18/04/2022 11:31

@YfenniChristie Im taking this maternity /nursing dress I used allot during pregnancy and is a bit ripped and stained as my midwife said there's not much point getting anything new for it as they may need to tear/cut it. I've packed a button down nightie for afterwards and a couple of nursing bra. I've heard your feet can get cold during labour so I've packed slippers, fluffy socks and flip flops. I've now got 3 bags. My bag, LOs bag and husband bag/snack bag. In LOs bag I've put LOs first outfit in a zip lock bag and labelled it so it's easier for hubby to grab if im not in my right mind. 1 outfit for under 8lb 1 outfit for over x

I’ve packed a bikini top ( hoping to have a water birth) that is just a bandana no ties or straps to annoy me and have gone a bought some really big (XXL) cheap mens T-shirts ( am using them the sleep in atm) so will use those if things don’t go to plan.

EastMidsGem · 18/04/2022 19:01

As I know I'm having a c-section, I've packed things as if I might be in 3 nights. But here's the basic list
3x button down nighties
Over bump pants
Maternity pads (2 packs)
2 nursing bras
Breast pads in case I start to leak fairly quickly
Toiletries
2xflannels
Towel (I was told hospitals only issue a little towel the size of a tea towel so if you're going to want a shower, take your own)
Slippers
Thin dressing gown in case I need to go to the hospital shop
Eye mask
Face masks in case I need to wander
Change of loose clothes for going home in
Headphones and iPad with some film and programmes downloaded onto it
Hairbrush
Snacks
Change for vending machines/car park

I have read that if you're planning for natural birth then gas and air can cause your lips to be really dry, so good idea to pack like a lip balm stick. Also a water bottle with a sports spout great for if you're on your back or any position. Also bobbles if you've got long hair might help during labour

YummyMummyXoX · 18/04/2022 21:39

Lovely to hear from everyone! It's getting so real

Toiletries, skin care, maternity pads, breast pads, Vaseline lips got soo dry last time as mentioned,

Baby
Baby grows + vests in newborn, 0-1, 0-3

Sat night I lliterally thought I was going into labour I had the most intense Braxton hicks, my tummy was soo upset felt the need to poo and push and losing my plug last few days again but she's stilll in hehe

Anyone else got really intense Braxton hicks and new symptoms? X

KMHH · 19/04/2022 02:30

Heyyy Smile

Hope everyone is ok?
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had/got puppp throughout their pregnancy? I've had it for a few weeks now however the last week the itchiness of it on my tummy is ridiculous! The midwife said I could use antihistamine but nothing is working and seems to get worse at night! Just wondered if anyone else has or had it and has any suggestions on how to ease it 🙈 xx

Bubbasmama2017 · 19/04/2022 06:07

@YummyMummyXoX I went in to day unit to be monitored as worried about movements at the weekend and had some quite painful Braxton Hicks. It showed on the cctg as contractions but the doctor didn't seem worried. Getting a bit more nervous for actual labour now!

I'm scared every day at the moment about not feeling baby move as much :-( going to make some notes today when I feel them move and see if there is a pattern
