@JMill13 yeah it's so hard isn't it! I'm debating between just letting him use to Moses basket at night or just persevering him with the next to me and making him get used to it, but that's interesting you saying your boy being the same so I'm hoping that when he gets a bit bigger he'll feel more settled but he just won't allow himself to fall asleep it's so strange

JMill13 · 18/05/2022 10:46

@MissM94 babies are so weird. I think it just takes time for them to adjust to having so much room after being so snug in the womb. You could maybe try keeping him in the Moses basket for now but every so often put him in the Next2Me for 5-10 minutes awake to get him used to it? Even just while you go pee or just lie in bed beside him.

All just about winging it though isn't it? No matter what we do they'll want to do their own thing.

GinnyBee · 18/05/2022 11:11

Yeah it’s a hell of an adjustment being born! And babies don’t have the ability to differentiate between night and day so sleep at unpredictable times. My boy sleeps in his box beautifully during the day but at night doesn’t want to settle in there. We keep it in the living room in the day and bedroom at night, so it’s not unfamiliar to him.

MissM94 · 18/05/2022 11:17

@JMill13 yeah i am going to just keep introducing it and hoping for the best but i'm not helping the situation because I jump at the opportunity to have him nap on my chest rather than putting him in there and having a nap next to him 😂😂

MissM94 · 18/05/2022 11:18

@GinnyBee that's a good idea, it's so hard to navigate isn't it.. the 3 of us are just winging it 😂😂

JMill13 · 18/05/2022 11:24

@MissM94 I'm currently lying on the sofa with baby on my chest 😂
Should be eating as haven't had breakfast yet but it's been a bit of morning, toddler has been sick for the first time ever so we've all just been running about like mad so taking some time to chill instead.

YfenniChristie · 18/05/2022 18:13

So the good news is that DS is back to his birth weight!

The bad news is I seem to have a small infection in the c-section site so I'm now on antibiotics 😩

Crumpetloveliness · 18/05/2022 18:16

@MissM94 literally is winging everything for the first one! I suspect given different personalities of babies it may well end up being the case second time round 😂

Swaddling really does make a world of difference in that first month, I wasn’t a fan hand at it so bought the Velcro version and was away.

I was induced first time round, ladies that went into labour naturally did it start with period like cramps or pressure? I suspect I’m being overly hopeful 😂😅

Crumpetloveliness · 18/05/2022 18:18

@YfenniChristie that is definitely worth celebrating and a huge relief for you I’m sure, whoop whoop!!! I’m sorry about the infection though, glad you’ve caught it early by the sounds of it 👍 I’ve heard mixed stories about infected c section sites.

JMill13 · 18/05/2022 21:08

@YfenniChristie oh no, hopefully the antibiotics kick in and clear it quickly!

JMill13 · 18/05/2022 21:09

@Crumpetloveliness can confirm still winging it with the second 😂

YfenniChristie · 18/05/2022 22:43

@Crumpetloveliness @JMill13 Cheers both! There's a small amount of redness on one side and a tiny amount of discharge, but it's not tender or painful so I'm hoping I've caught it early and it'll be a quick fix with the antibiotics 🤞🏻

Bubbasmama2017 · 19/05/2022 07:39

@JMill13 yep winging it with the 2nd too! Need to read my old books to see how we got into a routine with the DD1, I've forgotten how much you feed them or change their nappies etc. If anyone has a routine they're following please share!

JMill13 · 19/05/2022 07:54

@Bubbasmama2017 for now I'm just going with what she wants. Last time round we didn't start attempting a routine until he was about 3 months old or so. Though it was different then cause we were still having to do 2 hourly feeds. The only routine as such we have this time is we make the living room super dark and chill as soon as our boy goes to bed about 7/7:30 in hope that she associated that with night time. Then once she has her morning feed usually between 7 and 8 (so far anyway) we open the curtains and make it all nice and bright, or as bright as can be in at the minute with this silly Northern Irish weather.

Bubbasmama2017 · 19/05/2022 09:04

@JMill13 that sounds like a great plan

EastMidsGem · 19/05/2022 12:10

@YfenniChristie snap with the infection ☹️ couldn't even get hold of the doctors yesterday so ended up ringing 111 and being made an appointment at the urgent care centre. They were really good. Mine is quite sore and very red so hoping it's not too late for me! They've given me a 5 day course but to take 2 tablets 4 times a day - I hope yours clears up quickly xx

MissM94 · 19/05/2022 12:48

@Crumpetloveliness mine started as period type pains at the bottom of my bump! I lost my plug on the Wednesday, had a show on Thursday, woke up to period cramps Friday and laboured through the night and had him at 11:41 Saturday morning 🥰 fingers crossed this is it for you!

Crumpetloveliness · 19/05/2022 15:44

@MissM94 thank ye that is encouraging!

Doctor has asked for Tuesday induction if there’s no sign shortly. When she checked she thought it would be tomorrow or Saturday 🤞

Sarah239 · 19/05/2022 17:10

40+3 today. Had midwife appointment. Declined VE/sweep. Next appointment booked for 40+10 and she mentioned about induction normally happening at 40+12 but hopefully it won't come to that. The midwife was respectful of my wishes and told me I'm low risk, no concerns, so I could kind of tell she supported my wish to avoid induction if poss! Fingers crossed I go into labour naturally within the next week but I've no idea!

She also said when the doctors will say the risk of stillbirth "doubles" after 42 weeks, they mean from 1 in 1000 to 2 in 1000 so that was reassuring.

Also managing to get a bit more colostrum now so happy about that :)

I feel like one of the only ones left now still pregnant 😅🥴 You will all be pros by the time baby is here!

Crumpetloveliness · 20/05/2022 10:21

Well in my case the 32 week scan for weight was right! Had a DD this morning weighing in at 4.6kg….She’s ravenous understandably so the next month is going to be fun. Waited until contractions were three mins apart before heading to the hospital, arrived at 7cm and was fully dilated an hour later delivered another hour later.
Lost a fair amount of blood and needed internal stitches but didn’t tear outside oddly 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m done!! Two is enough 😆😅

GinnyBee · 20/05/2022 10:34

Congratulations @Crumpetloveliness ! 🥳 that’s a lot of baby!

10 days in and little man still won’t settle at night 😩 it’s so hard! He sleeps like the dead when being held and then fusses immediately when I try to put him down. Please tell me it gets easier!

He also doesn’t much like being in the pram either, have tried taking it out on a little stroll a couple times. Much happier in a sling.

Bubbasmama2017 · 20/05/2022 13:07

@Crumpetloveliness congratulations! Hope you're recovering well.

I generally feel quite good on day 4 but quite light headed if I do too much and haven't actually left the house yet. Dreading when my partner goes back to work and have 2 kids to look after on my own!

JMill13 · 20/05/2022 19:23

Oh amazing congrats @Crumpetloveliness enjoy your little family bubble.

@GinnyBee I promise somewhere down the line it will get easier. We bought baby girl a couple of Tommie tipee gro bags from Amazon for night time and used it last night and she slept like an absolute dream. Could you try something like that? Or the love2dream sleeping bags? Some babies just love to be close to their mamas though.

MissM94 · 21/05/2022 07:43

@Crumpetloveliness congratulations!! Your Labour sounds lovely! 4.6kg though 😳 ouch mama!

YummyMummyXoX · 21/05/2022 08:48

Congratulations on all the new arrivals so lovely to see well done mamas 🎉
Baby is doing really well nobody can believe she is prem. Had haematology yesterday and as all the staff have gotten so familiar with me they all came to meet her which was nice. However my bloods are still poor which shows that the disorder isn't just gestational as myself and the doctors had hoped. Still need to have ongoing treatment and meds. Nightmare!

Will keep everything crossed for the little babies here to arrive so exciting! 💕
