New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

I had my 20 week scan yesterday at 21 weeks. Babies looked great and the sonographer double checked the sex, both girls. They measured well and they're 11 oz and 14 oz. I have a scan every 4 weeks now to check on them and then we'll start discussing delivery. I have my heart set on a c section this time, mainly just because it's twins and the birth I had with my son left me with loads of pelvic floor complications, even 3 years on! Consultant said she would still talk me through my options but I know i have my mind made up already . Good luck all mamas!

Beth262 · 14/04/2022 09:41

Lovely news @BunnieMilk, glad all looked well and that they're going to be giving you regular checks moving forward x
@ToCaden fingers crossed for tomorrow. I was you last week. Baby wasn't overly keen to be any more helpful to begin with. When the lady doing the scan said 'I just need to get a second opinion' I believe the fact my heart started racing clearly had the desired effect and baby decided to play ball!! Hope yours is less stubborn and you don't need the panic to get it to do what is needed!
Thank you. Baby was in a better position this time, though did need to do some stair walking to get them to roll over for very last measurements. Got some odd looks pacing up and down the stairs.

All looks healthy which is great. Placenta is still in awkward position, but booked in for a scan at 34 weeks to see if it's moved. And baby didn't keep their legs together this time. It's a boy!

Beth262 · 14/04/2022 13:12

So pleased to hear all looks healthy and congratulations on your boy! 💙

Congratulations to those who have scans this week!

I’m 21+1 today and am experiencing mild pain on my right side of stomach, feels like a twisty, stretchy type pain, but also feels like a bruise. I think it may be round ligament pain but not too sure. I’ve texted my midwife and will see what she says. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

CoalCraft · 14/04/2022 13:49

@ToCaden @BunnieMilk Congratulations on the scans!

@Mirabella3 Yes I had something that sounds just like that a couple of nights ago. It was an ache quite high on the side of my bump. I'm pretty sure it was round ligament pain brought on by me overdoing it a but that day. It was gone by morning xx

Mirabella3 · 14/04/2022 14:31

@CoalCraft thank you. I hope it is ligament pain. My midwife texted me and said it could be that so will just keep an eye on it for now xx

Delight12 · 14/04/2022 17:58

Omg my husband felt baby kick for the first time today I'm 24+1 and I'm a blubbering mess lol these hormones have everything to answer for

ToCaden · 14/04/2022 18:44

@Delight12 yay. That's a very special moment.

Secondtimemum1829 · 15/04/2022 06:58

Hi all, thought I would update you, had my 20 week scan yesterday and all seemed perfect. We also found out we are having a girl!!

Only slightly overshadowed now as I woke up in the night for a wee and wiped and there was some pink spotting. I wiped again and been for a wee again this morning and there’s nothing, but I can helped but worry. I did also have a Vaginal scan to check my cervix and that was all fine, but wonder if the vaginal scan may have caused it? I haven’t had any bleeding or spotting so far at all. I am 21+1 weeks x

beckybloomwood11 · 15/04/2022 08:45

Great news on your scan @Secondtimemum1829 and sorry to hear about the spotting. I can understand how that would have overshadowed the 20 week scan. No experience to share, but could you call your midwife and ask her advice if you're worried? It does sound like it could have been the vaginal scan, especially if there's nothing now.

@madeleine85 hope all goes well with your scan today xx

Congratulations on the 20 week scan! I just wanted to say that I had to have an internal scan & examination after having very painful cramps at 19 weeks, and I had intermittent pink/red on the tissue when I wiped for a couple of days afterwards. The doctor did warn me that it would probably happen and told me not to worry if it did, so I hope that gives you some reassurance. The cervix is a very vascular area and that only increases when you’re pregnant. I would monitor it and if it turns into full on bleeding that persists I’d go in and get checked out. It’s so scary to see I know…. I hadn’t had any bleeding/spotting up until this point in my pregnancy but I had to try and think rationally (something I find very difficult in pregnancy!). Hope that helps x
Secondtimemum1829 · 15/04/2022 09:44

Thank you. I don’t think my regular midwife will be working as it’s bank holiday now, but if I get anymore I will definitely call the hospital on call midwife team. I’m trying to think rationally but can’t help but worry a bit x

Secondtimemum1829 · 15/04/2022 09:47

Thank you for sharing @suze12 that has reassured me, the sonographer didn’t mention anything about bleeding otherwise I guess I would have expected it and not been panicking when I saw the tissue. Still nothing this morning. So hoping that is all it was. If I get anymore I will definitely be on the phone to the hospital midwife team. X

madeleine85 · 15/04/2022 20:16

Thanks for the well wishes @beckybloomwood11

All was great at the 20 week scan so I am on cloud 9! I am also a few days after 20 weeks, so hopefully I am the last of the group and we are all onto the next step, whatever that is :). Viability mark at 24/25 weeks? The doctor also said there is no need to take the progesterone, which truly was great to hear. My cervix stayed exactly the same length from the measurement last month, and they are no longer deeming me higher risk. Such a relief!

squatternutbosh12 · 15/04/2022 21:51

Been catching up on everyone’s messages, love to all!
@madeleine85 so pleased everything was alright in the end.
Covid has been a right shitter, I’ve essentially been in bed since Monday 😱 possibly starting to feel a bit better now. Got a very fruity sounding and sore chest but hoping to turn a corner soon. Haven’t had any issues with oxygen level so all ok in a medical sense.
Good lordy what a horrible virus!

madeleine85 · 15/04/2022 22:30

@squatternutbosh12 thanks and so sorry you're bedridden with covid. That sounds absolutely miserable. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you after a hopefully relaxing weekend x

Isonthecase · 15/04/2022 23:38

Exciting news on getting all the scans done! Over halfway ☺️

@Secondtimemum1829 Another one who bled slightly after the cervical check but I also did when not pregnant so knew to ask if it was expected at the scan. Still scary! It calmed down really quickly.

beckybloomwood11 · 16/04/2022 08:27

Great news @madeleine85 pleased to hear everything went well!

Mufflette · 16/04/2022 09:42

Congratulations on the scans! Really glad everything was ok @madeleine85, I've been holding off posting an update in case I worried you with my cervix experience this week!

I ended up with 24 hours notice of having to go in for a cervical stitch, my cervix was only 18mm to start with and had shortened to 15 after a week of progesterone. All went fine (other than waiting hours to be discharged!) and I'm taking it as a net positive, stitch is in so hopefully baby will stay put and I've had a day's experience of the postnatal ward and theatre so I know what to expect when baby's born (hopefully, I'll need to go to another hospital if he's early) and if I end up with a section! So it's a very relaxing Easter weekend here Smile

madeleine85 · 16/04/2022 15:25

@Mufflette I’m so sorry you had to go through that! Are you feeling better now? At least it’s been preventatively treated and hopefully now closely monitored. Does that mean you’re on bedrest? Fingers crossed the stitch does the trick for you x

squatternutbosh12 · 16/04/2022 15:29

@Mufflette crikey glad everything is ok now but that must have even stressful! You deserve a super chilled easter weekend x

Next goal I'm shooting for is 24 weeks when baby becomes a legal person. It's nice to have milestones. Then 25 weeks as that's when maternity stuff usually starts to be talked about and first part of processing at work.
Ems2208 · 16/04/2022 19:56

Hi everyone 21 almost 22 weeks found out I have an anterior placenta. Was feeling slight fluttery/popping feelings but last few days don’t seem to be able to feel anything. Anyone else
Similar with an anterior placenta?
