@LiMc1 That is so sweet, well done 👏 There is some crafty talent in this group!

I wish I was good at crafts. Luckily my mother in law is an expert knitter and has already knitted some lovely things. My mum is having a go too bless her, she is a good knitter but her eyesight makes it a lot harder for her than it used to be.

squatternutbosh12 · 10/04/2022 12:42

Covid finally got me 😫
Having a duvet day, feel a bit like a truck hit me. Will give midwife a call tomorrow in case they want me to do anything in particular. Ugh how annoying!

ToCaden · 10/04/2022 16:56

@squatternutbosh12 oh no. Seems everyone is getting hit by it. I've been lucky so far. I work from home and family has been very cautious when they show symptoms just in case. I do have a funeral to attend in a couple weeks, so likely even I will go down with it eventually. My brother got it recently purely because his wife had a meeting and someone at the meeting tested positive, but came to the meeting anyway. Loss of restrictions means those with it are going about spreading it everywhere.

Wish you a quick recovery. Get plenty of rest and look after yourself.

Isonthecase · 10/04/2022 20:13

Oh dear @squatternutbosh12, sorry to hear that. If it's any help most people have had it, I had it a few weeks ago and it wasn't too awful, just had to take it easy a few weeks after ☺️

LiMc1 · 10/04/2022 21:21

@squatternutbosh12 oh no! How frustrating! When I had it, I was told to monitor temperature and get a heart rate monitor. You can take paracetamol for flu like symptoms. It felt like a bad case of flu for me but this was my second time getting it. Hope you have a speedy recovery and don't suffer too badly!

SantiagoSister · 11/04/2022 07:57

Hope you’re feeling better soon @squatternutbosh12! Same as the ladies above for me, it felt like a bad cold and I was very congested and tired for a few days, then started to get better. Hopefully it’ll be mild for you too 🤞🏼

I'm feeling so impatient today - baby is kicking away like mad as I sit at my desk and I just wish I could meet her properly! 19 weeks seems so faaar Grin

21+2 today!

@CoalCraft

I'm feeling so impatient today - baby is kicking away like mad as I sit at my desk and I just wish I could meet her properly! 19 weeks seems so faaar Grin

21+2 today!

Grin it's feeling much more real now there's kicking and (in my case a very obvious) baby bump.

Came across a good brand of cloth diapers for cheap, so I've now stocked up. It feels strange to have a box with baby stuff in, but also really nice. Holding off on a lot of the other stuff for now. Just concentrating on getting my office done, then kid's room is next on the list.

Has anyone been to a large gathering since being obviously pregnant? Going to a funeral in a couple weeks which will mostly be extended family I very rarely see. I currently look about 30 weeks at 22. Just wondering if I need to brace myself for people touching the bump, or is that less of a thing after covid?

Gem2811 · 11/04/2022 15:05

@ToCaden unfortunately in my experience I've found alot of people want to touch the bump still. It makes me very uncomfortable and if they aren't touching it they are commenting on how big I am... I have to harness the hormones to avoid saying something I will regret 😂

Gem2811 · 11/04/2022 16:56

Whats everyone's go to for stretch marks? There are so many choices and I have no idea 😂

CoalCraft · 11/04/2022 17:04

Tbh I don't think anyone has tried to touch my bump this time, and the only person who did in my last pregnancy was my Gran. She would say "let me have a little chat to the baby" and put her hands and talk - very cringe! But I didn't protest 'cause, well, she's my dear old Gran! Otherwise though it doesn't seem to be a thing in my circles.

I have been getting tonnes of bump comments though, even from people I don't know well. Maybe I'm unusual but I actually like it - feels nice in a way to know that I am visibly pregnant.

Shelly1812 · 11/04/2022 17:59

I find glaring at people and telling them not to bother touching me helps 😂😂! I've had a few touchy feely folk I've swiftly told to fuck off! For reasons best know boundaries don't seem to exist when your pregnant, I don't get it lol!

20 week scan today, baby weighing 15oz, he's breech and I have anterior placenta, all looks good although I'm back next wed since they couldn't get all the measurements. Small dip in my blood cord which means monitoring will begin at 28 weeks x

Gem2811 · 11/04/2022 19:16

Congrats on the scan! I need to practice my resting bitch face for future I think 😂

Beth262 · 11/04/2022 21:07

@squatternutbosh12 hope you're feeling better today.

@Shelly1812 congratulations on the scan.

Is anyone still waiting on their 20 week scan?

@Gem2811

Congrats on the scan! I need to practice my resting bitch face for future I think 😂
Defo... you find folk leave you alone a bit more 😂😂😂 x

This is a bit of a scared mum rant, so apologies. I’m 20 weeks and I’m having massive flashbacks to my prior pregnancy where I had a premie at 35 weeks but labour started at 31-32 weeks. I wasn’t taking care of myself, had an eating disorder, was over exercising etc. this time mentally and physically I am in a very different head space, in a good way. But I woke up on Monday to a migraine and a full day of stomach and lower back cramps that’s still going on. Hoping they stop when I get up, but it’s bringing back horrible memories of last time’s early labour. Honestly this is what it felt like then. My doctor is pretty convinced that my early labour last time was a result of my eating disorder but also advised that I take progesterone this time, on the off chance I also have an incompetent cervix as they can’t rule it out as a cause. I haven’t been taking the pills as I hated the side effects and they were negatively impacting my mental health. I’ve had once cervical measuring a month ago, I’m due to go to the consultant for my second cervical measuring and my 20 week anatomy scan on Friday but I’m a bit scared if there’s a problem and I wait till then, I could make it worse. Hoping I sleep and wake up feeling “normal” and that this was all migraine induced, but I’m moderately terrified as I told myself by making positive life choices I wouldn’t subject my family to another premie nicu experience, and I’m worried it’s all repeating. I also don’t know if after a month without progesterone if I’m better staying off it till Friday to see if I’m completely fine without it, or if I should admit defeat now and just start taking it ASAP. Not helped that it’s a new consultant this week rather than my usual doctor. Basically I'm all over the place right now. I’m doubting anyone has had a similar experience, but now feeling worried to have these feelings again so early in pregnancy. Why is it never just easy being pregnant 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

CoalCraft · 12/04/2022 06:36

@madeleine85 Offering you hugs and a handhold. I haven't been in exactly your position but I have been through premature labour and NICU and I often wake up terrified that it's happening again.

Migraines can make your whole body feel crampy and crap, so I'm sure that's all that's happening. If you are concerned though, are you able to go to triage? They will be able to reassure you about things like your cervix being closed, and that you aren't having contractions, and they have doctors on hand too if necessary.

ToCaden · 12/04/2022 10:50

Thanks for the advice guys! I shall go in braced for potential bump fondlers so I'm not taken off guard.

@madeleine85 I second coalcraft's excellent advice to go to triage if you're this concerned, mostly to give you much needed peace of mind. Hard to say whether you're experiencing anything unusual. Pregnancy is a confusing and achy time.

Also can you talk to midwife about how you're feeling? It might be worth seeing if you could up or add meds or benefit for another intervention for your mental health. Don't feel like you need to tough it out if you're struggling. I haven't needed to up my meds, but my seratraline has been a godsend in keeping me even, more than it usually does. I definitely notice it more if I've skipped a dose.

beckybloomwood11 · 12/04/2022 10:58

Had our 20 week scan this morning, all was well and found out we're having a little girl!

@madeleine85 sorry to hear how you're feeling. I think it's worth speaking to your midwife and see what they suggest. And really hope all goes well for you at your scan on Friday x

ToCaden · 12/04/2022 11:17

Just got a phone call booking me in for my overdue rescan this Thurs. Fingers crossed baby is more cooperative this time and they can do the measurements they couldn't complete last time.

Mufflette · 12/04/2022 12:25

Congratulations on the scans everyone!

@madeleine85 if it helps, I wasn't started on progesterone until 20 weeks so it's not too late if they do tell you on Friday to start on them. I agree with those that have said call and see, they may prefer to scan you before you take any so they can work out what's best. I'm on weekly monitoring at the moment to see how mine are working. Fingers crossed for a positive scan for both baby and cervix!

madeleine85 · 12/04/2022 17:37

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I woke up feeling much better. Migraines are so odd, it is like the clouds lift the next day. When I get mine I also become extremely thirsty, so I wonder if the cramps were deyhdration related too. Either way i'll ask the consultant on Friday to make sure everything is ok/will follow whatever they recommend. At this stage I just want to make it to week 37 this time! When I reach week 42 i'll be kicking myself :)

@beckybloomwood11 congratulations on the little girl and the 20 week scan! We reached the 20 week mark today too which feels amazing to be there. It both feels like it has taken forever, and that late December when we found out was yesterday, and that August will be here before we know it.

PopGoesBang · 13/04/2022 10:53

@ToCaden fingers crossed for tomorrow. I was you last week. Baby wasn't overly keen to be any more helpful to begin with. When the lady doing the scan said 'I just need to get a second opinion' I believe the fact my heart started racing clearly had the desired effect and baby decided to play ball!! Hope yours is less stubborn and you don't need the panic to get it to do what is needed!
