Thanks @madeleine85 @squatternutbosh12. Pretty much fine now, still a little sore from where the spinal anaesthetic and cannula went in but other than that normal and having to remind myself to take it easy for a while!

madeleine85 · 16/04/2022 22:04

@Ems2208 I’m a week behind you, 2nd pregnancy and have barely felt anything. Someone else mentioned they feel kicks to the side and I’d agree with that. It’s sporadic and maybe will make for a better third trimester. Time will tell!

@Mufflette rest up ❤️❤️

Hi everyone 21 almost 22 weeks found out I have an anterior placenta. Was feeling slight fluttery/popping feelings but last few days don’t seem to be able to feel anything. Anyone else Similar with an anterior placenta?
Hi I'm 21+2 with anterior. I can feel some Pops and prods but not much, baby is also breech so getting pops really low down like cervix, it's a strange feeling. They think should be able to feel more as the baby grows x
RP90 · 17/04/2022 10:37

Hope everyones treating themselves to something yummy today!!
I had an anterior placenta in my last pregnancy, although I felt movement they didn't get strong until I was slightly further along. I was worried I'd miss out on the "experience" however could still feel my DS move around, my husband never really got to feel him but he gets slightly freaked out by it so think he was secretly fine with it 😂.

Cakecakecheese · 17/04/2022 18:14

I'm 23 weeks with anterior placenta and I haven't felt anything.

Hi everyone, I just rejoined mumsnet after years of not being online. I’m 41 in June and currently 21 weeks pregnant. So excited for this much wanted and planned baby but also very worried about being a mum again (and Labour) .
My older kids and 21 & 23 (in may ), so a huge age gap .
Myself and hubby only got married 4 weeks ago so currently very happy and excited for the future but due to me maybe not remembering or the age I am currently I’m like a walking zombie . Just constant exhaustion.
First trimester I also had raging hormones which I never expected .
I swear it’s like a first time pregnancy as I do not remember any of this lol
This trimester I just want to sleep - luckily I’m an accountant so have a desk job , but it’s just work / home sleep etc .
Other ladies - when does the tiredness subside?
Also , did any of you look into hypnobirthing?
I only had gas an air with my two but I was young and invincible. Now I’m literally petrified. But very scared of drugs and side effects lol
Looking forward to reading and following all of your posts .
Nice to meet everyone - Nic xx

Isonthecase · 18/04/2022 10:01

Welcome @Nicd1981!
Tiredness hasn't subsided, I can still take as much sleep as I can get 🙈 have been a bit more energetic in terms of exercising though so maybe less tired in between sleeps?
I did hynobirthing lite last time and found it helped, just did the breathing side and it was pretty similar to the stuff you do in yoga and pilates but helped me take my mind off it a bit. The mantras all sounded a bit whack but they are recommended by a few friends so maybe worth a go?

makingabebe · 18/04/2022 11:14

Hi all, hope you're all enjoying the Easter break. I fly back to the UK tomorrow after a week in Lanzarote - the sunshine has been so nice! I'm 23+6 and felt baby kick from the outside for the first time at 5am today. I woke my DH up to feel it but he couldn't (was basically still asleep). Can't wait for the next time!

Has anybody got their MATB1 form yet (or whatever it's called)? I keep meaning to ask the midwife about it, I thought I'd get it at 20 weeks. Also I need to book my whooping cough vaccine. Must remember!

Thank you for reminding me about the whooping cough. I'd forgotten. My midwife told me she gives out her matb1s at the 24 week appointment. That might just be her, but assume it's similar as you legally need to inform work you're pregnant by 25 weeks, so would make sense to be given that before or around that time to help with paperwork.
positivevibes22 · 18/04/2022 14:58

Welcome @Nicd1981 🙂
I felt quite tired during the first couple of months only. After my booking appointment with my midwife, when my blood test results were ready, she recommended to start taking Spatone Daily Iron Shots. The reason for that was not because of my iron levels were low (they were normal), she just wanted to avoid them going lower by the time of my next blood test, which I believe should be when I'm in 28 weeks. However, since I started taking the iron supplements I feel full of energy. I have a full time job which is very demanding, I'm studying accountancy and also read a lot about pregnancy and newborns...or in other words I keep myself constantly busy 😆 Also, I can't sleep much at night, it's around 6 hours max, but quite often even less than that and I still can't believe I can have so much energy. I'm sure this is because of the iron. I suggest you have your iron levels checked to see if this could be the reason for your tiredness.
Regarding hypnobirthing, I've been practicing it for a few months now and I love it. It totally changed my mindset from being extremely scared about natural birth to feeling extremely excited about it 😀 It makes me feel calm and relaxed during my pregnancy too which is amazing. I'm using GentleBirth. I have the app, masterclass and book. By the way, I've recently listened to an audio blog on the GentleBirth app which was exactly about the iron and the fact that many people believe that tiredness in pregnancy is normal but in most cases the reason for that is low levels of iron.

Thank you for your message . You may be right about the iron. I did take pregnancy rate at first but stopped once I'd passed 12 weeks . I have regular scans as I'm high risk ( had my daughter at 31 weeks and 5 days) so my next scan is Thursday , I'll mention it then see if they can test my iron levels .

Good luck with your studies , is it AAT you are studying ? I qualified in 2012, best thing I ever did . Started own business in 2015, never looked back :)

Thanks for hypnobirth reccomend im definitely going to look into it . I'm not into anything woohoo but I'm willing to try anything as I'm so nervous x

positivevibes22 · 18/04/2022 16:18

Thank you very much 😊 Yes, I'm studying AAT level 4. I work as a Financial Research Analyst and I like my job but I decided to study AAT when I incorporated my own limited company because I wanted to do the accounts of the company myself. I'm currently dealing with the bookkeeping only but my intention is to take over the rest from my accountant once I finish this level 🙂
Tbh I found the hypnobirthing a bit weird at first but then I realised it works for me and decided to keep doing it 😄

CoalCraft · 18/04/2022 21:41

So I overindulged on a Chinese takeaway last night and woke up this morning with a horrible stomach ache (definitely intestinal), and this apparently was a great time for baby to be the most active she's been, so that was fun!

Tummy pain sorted itself out pretty quickly and baby settled back into her normal pattern, but wow I did not have a comfortable morning!

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend 😊

PopGoesBang · 19/04/2022 10:32

Hi all.
24+2 now, and feeling like a zombie today! Not a great combo for working and entertaining my DD - actually that's wrong, she's amazing at entertaining herself, but it's that guilt of not listening fully to what she's telling me about!
Interesting about the iron info, my levels were ok but I do wonder if they dip and that's the zombie like feeling explained.

Where did everyone start with the hypnobirthing info? It's interested me but I've never looked into it properly.
DD's birth was quite rapid after the hormone induction was started, but I clearly remember a 'I can't do this' few minutes. And would quite like to avoid that this time round if I can. Especially as last time I was induced before contractions, had my waters broken for me etc. There may well be a lot more I am focusing on this time and being as positive and focused as I can be may be a bonus!

mamaof2girls · 19/04/2022 14:11

Sorry been so quiet. Had a busy few weeks went away with the family over Easter holidays so that was really nice before we went we also got to have our 20 week scan and all went well and we managed to get it over and done with and not find out the gender so that was a little relief haha! Hope everyone else is well! Starting to get really tired no matter how much I sleep though 😴 x

Hi Nic and welcome 😊. I'm 39 and shattered this time, there is none of this promised pregnancy glow 😂😂! Also an accountant too and at month end I could seriously sleep at my desk given 1/2 a chance lol. My oldest is 7this year and even that gap feels like an eternity x
Shelly1812 · 19/04/2022 14:48

How's everyone feeling? I have my 20
Weeks scan part 2 tomorrow, hopefully this little 1 is in a better position to get the heart measurements this time. Feels like he's still breech as my movements are pops down near my cervix, at times you feel a wee arm or elbow up high (well normal movement height!). Stuck at home all weekend as my 6yr old as chicken pox, poor wee soul is covered top to toe! X

mumforfirsttime · 19/04/2022 15:38

I am also an accountant and feel the month end tiredness! Can't believe it's nearly that time again! Might need to start napping on my lunch Grin lol. Hope everyone had a nice Easter!

It's like Groundhog Day!!! Get the quarter end out the road and here's the month end... where has the middle of the month went lol x
Ems2208 · 19/04/2022 21:48

I’m due 23rd August- how are you all feeling? worrying I don’t really have symptoms and bump seems to come and go. Anterior placenta so movement isn’t regular at all x

CoalCraft · 19/04/2022 22:02

Slightly odd midwife appointment today. She looked through my records with me there and discovered that the consultant who looked at my file after my dating scan recommended that I should have regular growth scans, but apparently no one did anything about this? Certainly no one told me or my midwife! So she is now scrambling to arrange the first of those on time (it's supposed to be at 28 weeks). I'm not really sure what they expect to find on the growth scans as my first baby was the perfect size for her gestation, just early, but I won't complain!

Anyone had/having growth scans know who does them? Wondering if it will be the consultant or a radiographer.

Otherwise appointment was fine, except baby was wiggling too much for midwife to get a good heart rate read! Grin

Isonthecase · 19/04/2022 23:28

Good question @CoalCraft, I had to have loads both previous pregnancies but no word on them this time yet either. For me before it was the sonographer but it was a combined consultant and scan appointment so I'd do scan then over to the consultant and then off to bloods. It was basically my late pregnancy second home I spent that much time there 🤣

squatternutbosh12 · 20/04/2022 09:17

@coalcraft I hope they manage to arrange your scan on time! Since it’s their mistake i reckon they’ll pull it out of the bag 😆
I’m also having growth scans and for me it will be the same as @isonthecase, scan with sonographer then straight onto consultant appointment (presumably for his opinion on said scan and any action that needs taking!) Mine will be at 28, 32 and 36 weeks, is that the same for you?
I’m having a glucose tolerance test at the hospital this week to check for gestational diabetes- really hoping I don’t have it! I don’t really have any usual risk factors for diabetes, it was just advised because I have another endocrine problem and the consultant said ‘having one endocrine thing makes it more likely you’ll get another endocrine thing’ 😐 - on the other hand my ongoing vomiting has meant I can’t really keep down much in the way of sweet stuff anyway and have lost weight as result of this, so would be surprised if I did end up having it! Really not looking forward to the intensely sugary drink you have to have for the test- sounds like a perfect way to make me throw up 😂
Anyone else having this done at 24 weeks?

Cakecakecheese · 20/04/2022 11:06

@Ems2208
I have big bump and small bump days. My partner is convinced I'm enormous though!
I also have anterior placenta. I'm 23 weeks and haven't felt much but today it felt like he was moving about although I went to the loo after that so it may have been stomach issues!

CoalCraft · 20/04/2022 14:10

@Isonthecase @squatternutbosh12 Yeah, my growth scans are supposed to be at 28, 32, 36 and 39 weeks, assuming I actually get that far! The note also mentioned a consultant appointment at 32 weeks but that was it, so I'm guessing it'll be just the radiologist for the others unless they spot something concerning.

I'm still not really sure what they're looking for with these growth scans. I'm happy to have them, of course, but it seems unrelated to my problem last time, where the baby was perfect and it was my body that messed up.

Still, I'm feeling optimistic as so far the "irritable uterus" that was well established by this point in my first pregnancy has not returned 🤞
