Tacoboutit · 13/06/2022 15:25

Thanks @Unknown6 - sorry my question was confusing, I’m looking at carriers rather than travel systems, but there’s so many types I’m overwhelmed (like I was with prams!)

Thanks @Mufflette I’m in NI and don’t think we have a local sling library but will have a Google! I’ve seen baby bjorn but they’re pricey so would want to hear real recommendations before investing.

Cakecakecheese · 13/06/2022 16:08

@Tacoboutit try ebay? I got a baby bjorn really cheap off there and also got a fabric wrap sling and a friend has given me her one too so I have a few options to see what we get on with.

Tacoboutit · 13/06/2022 16:37

Thanks @Cakecakecheese - I’ll browse eBay :) x

Unknown6 · 13/06/2022 17:01

@Tacoboutit , it's OK I misread lol. #babybrain.

My sister in law is giving us her tula sling, thought we would try that first.

madeleine85 · 13/06/2022 18:25

@Mufflette I have seen no pattern to mine at all! Just that he gets angry and kicks if I try to side sleep. He seems to be comfortable when i'm on my back... sigh. The rest of the time, I can get a day of more kicks, and yesterday, I barely felt him at all!

@Tacoboutit I think I have the ergobaby 360 which I had from my first, and loved it! Our DD was too small for hers though for a few weeks, so a we also used a sling/wrap for the first few weeks, and that was very helpful to have. No idea how this one will compare size wise though!

madeleine85 · 13/06/2022 18:27

@Tacoboutit definitely use Ebay/if you are up for it, get this kind of thing 2nd hand. They are all very machine washable, so low risk in my opinion. We only used the sling for a few weeks, so it did feel like a waste of money after that point, and I wouldn't want to spend a lot on another. The carrier was used for close to a year, so that was worth every penny.

Secondtimemum1829 · 13/06/2022 19:05

Hi all, 29+4. Not sure how we are going to cope as it gets hotter this week, just us a cold shower and say by the fan so a little cooler.

im still waiting on the results of my GD blood test. I had it Thursday morning, midwife told me if I hadn’t heard to contact her tomorrow as she would check for me. I had it in my first pregnancy, was tested at booking and was clear, but expecting the worse, was just expecting to hear the next day like I did before.

we got the baby Bjorn mini from Facebook marketplace, still in the box and good as new, will wash too. We had the ergo baby before but I found it a bit of a faff to put on and off, baby horn mini seems really simple, but it might just be me! Ha ha x

Tacoboutit · 13/06/2022 22:18

Thanks everyone for your suggestions :) this helps me narrow down my research which is much appreciated. Not long to go for all of us!!! xx

madeleine85 · 13/06/2022 23:57

@Secondtimemum1829 good luck for the test results! I would go with no news is good news, they usually get in touch so fast if something is wrong.

CoalCraft · 14/06/2022 10:41

Uch, I've caught a nasty cold from DD 🤧 Made sleeping a challenge last night as the only way I could breathe comfortably was while lying on my back which obviously you can't do!

Baby has been having loafs of hiccups recently, usually about two bouts a day and they go on for a while. I remember it was the same with DD and I know it's normal, but for some reason I still find it kinda disconcerting. Baby has been suuuper active recently though. Don't think she stopped wriggling all night!

ToCaden · 14/06/2022 11:41

@coalcraft hiccups here too. I think they say as long as each hiccup session doesn't go longer than 15 mins there's nothing to worry about.

Exhausted and out of breath today. Been feeling like falling asleep at my desk since two hours into the work day.

Unknown6 · 14/06/2022 12:31

This third trimester is hard, just been called back for bloods, they think I might need an iron infusion, anyone else had this?

Secondtimemum1829 · 14/06/2022 13:46

So just chased my results and I have got GD again. So fed up, here we go again. Just sucks that I won’t get the birth I want again.

also told my iron levels are a bit low but not enough for medication at the moment, told to up iron in my diet. I already eat quite a bit of spinach but now with GD can’t have cereals, orange juice and only limited carbs. This will be a long 8-10 weeks x

squatternutbosh12 · 14/06/2022 13:56

@Unknown6 yeah I’ve had iron infusions, finished on Friday. Had two a week apart, a higher dose then a half dose. It was fine, the stuff is an alarming orangey brown colour like Coke though! Only takes 15 ish min to go through, then they monitor you for half an hour or so on the CTG as (rarely) people can have reactions to it. They assured me there wasn’t any risk to baby. Haven’t started to see benefits yet but they did say it takes a few weeks to raise your levels so here’s hoping! Hope if you do get them it makes you feel better!

Isonthecase · 14/06/2022 15:00

@squatternutbosh12 what levels did you get to before they did the infusions? I'm on iron watch as well (again)

squatternutbosh12 · 14/06/2022 15:11

@Isonthecase mine were ferritin 15 and Hb 105 so only borderline anaemic, but because I’m unable to keep any oral iron down and the numbers were going in the wrong direction they thought no point persevering any longer with tablets/liquid at this point! It’s a relief not to have to keep trying to be honest, the stuff makes me feel so awful! How are your levels?

Isonthecase · 14/06/2022 15:47

@squatternutbosh12 only slightly higher for Hb at 110 and dropping steadily. Not sure on ferritin. It would be so interesting to know when they actually get worried, no one will tell me for bloods other than for platelet count!

Unknown6 · 14/06/2022 16:51

My midwife has sent me up to maternity assessment unit! Really hoping I don't get admitted again 😕

squatternutbosh12 · 14/06/2022 16:59

@Unknown6 oh no, what’s up? Why have you been sent there? Hope all ok X

CoalCraft · 14/06/2022 17:59

My bloods were at 111 at 12 weeks so they started me on iron tablets. These obviously did sod all as my levels were 101 two weeks ago. They told me that they start offering infusions at 100 🙄

So I was told to up my dose of iron tablets (despite some studies suggesting this actually makes it worse) and drink lots of orange juice. I am 99.9% sure that when they test again in another two weeks I'll be in the double digits and will get an infusion. Fortunately I feel well for now and the iron tablets don't give me unpleasant side effects, so I'm motivated to rush things.

Tacoboutit · 14/06/2022 18:31

I’m on iron tablets because my levels were 90 and midwife said she wants me to get to 105 but sounds like some of you ladies are on iron for levels around 105? It’s so confusing! I’ll clarify at my appointment tomorrow.

Unknown6 · 14/06/2022 20:59

I'm out now thank goodness, my heart rates always high since start of pregnancy and being monitored for it, but went in for repeat bloods and they wanted to get baby movements double checked and my BP was high, also had more bloods etc, randomly my iron levels came back higher (now 115) I'm still going to take iron for a couple of weeks to see if it helps with heart rate, but no infusion needed, it's all confusing me!

Unknown6 · 14/06/2022 21:00

P.s baby movements were ok

squatternutbosh12 · 14/06/2022 22:22

@Unknown6 pleased everything was ok and you didn’t have to stay in!

SquigsC · 14/06/2022 22:25

It’s really interesting hearing all of your stories about being low on iron. I had a call saying I was 79 a few weeks back and was put straight onto daily iron. I am now 33 weeks and I think I’m having my iron checked again at 34 weeks. Because my iron was so low I am preparing myself to have an infusion.

Also I feel very lucky that the heat isn’t affecting me too much! Probably because most of the time I am freezing! It’s also an excuse to whip lots of clothes off - is anybody following the Rihanna trend of having their bump on show? I’ve been doing below bump jeans with crop tops and am loving life (obviously with LOTS of factor 50 on and shade breaks).
