New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

To all those in the UK it's expected to be 28c here, I'm in Oxfordshire...I think most of you are in the UK.

Yup. Not quite as bad in south wales, but we're still going up to 25 degrees on friday which sounds bad enough. I shall be digging out my vest with the icepacks i think.

beckybloomwood11 · 11/06/2022 17:12

It's pretty miserable here in Scotland - the only time I've ever been happy with our crappy "summer"!

How's everyone feeling? I hit 28 weeks on Monday and have really felt a huge difference this week - so many new aches and pains, heartburn, tiredness. I was really hoping to get further into the third trimester before feeling so rubbish!

Beth262 · 11/06/2022 19:44

@madeleine85 yes he's still in for the moment! 31+5 today so creeping up the numbers 😆

@Beth262 that Is amazing!!! So happy for you guys he’s holding in there for now. G☺️Just gotta keep it up little one ❤️

CoalCraft · 12/06/2022 06:52

Was 30 weeks yesterday! I thought it sounded like I was nearly there, then I realised it was only three quarters of the way, and that it wasn't even that really since I didn't know till week 4/5. Wish time would zip on a bit quicker for me! Then again, I'm only three weeks from when DD was born. Feeling quite optimistic at the moment that I'll surpass that, but it'll still feel like a big milestone.

I'm doing fine with breathing bit still feel a bit like an old lady. I'm constantly up and down with my toddler (I usually sot on the floor with her) and while before I could plop down and spring up hands free it's now a slow process in both directions. My legs and back also do not like me walking and I feel like I can hardly lift anything.

Beth262 · 12/06/2022 06:58

@madeleine85 Thank you. How are you feeling aside from the LA heat?

@CoalCraft Yep, with you on the getting up and down being s slow process! Feel like an upturned turtle trying to get off the floor some times. And the sofa for that matter 😆 Glad to hear you're feeling optimistic about DD2 making it past 33 weeks. Everything crossed for you 🤞

I'm 32 + 3, I'm starting to feel really irritated (I guess it's normal), and when I lie down it doesn't give as much relief.

Starting nct tomorrow though so that will help me get into the swing of things. To those reaching the floor still I'm jealous lol.

My cot arrived yesterday, I got one of those ones that you can convert into a toddler bed so it last up until they are 4/5 (called gaia baby) we now need to figure out how it goes together.

Anyone wishing they had decided to start maternity leave earlier 😆 🤣

Cakecakecheese · 12/06/2022 09:33

We were at a friend's garden yesterday when a god damn bird pooped on my foot! My partner went to get me a damp cloth and then just handed it to me. I had to point out to him that I couldn't reach!

Mufflette · 12/06/2022 09:56

@Unknown6 I am with you on wanting to start maternity leave now! Have just had a week off and the idea of working another 7 weeks just feels really irritating 😂I just have to keep reminding myself that I'll be glad of the extra weeks before I go back...

I'm ok on breathing but definitely finding it more difficult to get up and down, going to get some slip on summer shoes this week in anticipation of laces and buckles becoming a challenge!

ToCaden · 12/06/2022 11:04

Agree with getting up and down from floor being a challenge. I have to crawl to the nearest table or other suitable surface to haul myself back up.

My only options for putting on socks and shoes are a manover where I sit and put the needed foot on the opposite leg's knee. Very grateful I was a bit flexible in that way pre pregnancy. My habit of sitting cross legged is now paying off.

Getting up from lying down is the worst. Most successful tactic is to lie on back, bend leg, hold onto back of knee then suddenly straighten leg so i'm lifted a bit. It's then easier for hands to heave up rest of the way. Just using hands to pushing myself up all the way is possible but more precarious. Open to ideas if anyone has other tactics to share.

LiMc1 · 12/06/2022 14:44

Just catching up with messages. No dark line for me, but I agree with you all about the breathlessness.
Struggled last night with sleeping, felt like there wasn't any room for me to breathe!
Woke up, opened all windows and adjusted pregnancy pillow but didn't sleep very well.
So, I'm rather emotional today because of it. Bawled my eyes out this morning to the other half because I felt so tired 😫
31+1 today and the emotions are running high!
Not looking forward to teaching this week in my sauna of a classroom!

ToCaden · 12/06/2022 15:09

@LiMc1 poor you. I'm finding my tolerance to little sleep is low to zilch for a while now. A night of little or no sleep and everything seems to fall apart the day after.

Good luck today and also for next week.

madeleine85 · 12/06/2022 19:14

@Beth262 im feeling surprisingly good most days. Others I feel beached whale like and as if I’m retaining all the water 😂. Losing energy (hello 3rd trimester), my toddler exhausts me, but Fortunately naps most days still which saves my sanity! Keep reminding myself to enjoy the pregnancy lips and hair as in 6 months they will be gone! At least it’s something positive about the whole experience!

Chunks1376 · 12/06/2022 19:22

30 + 2 here and struggling with Covid. @Unknown6 I’ve struggled with my HR since 7 weeks pregnant and all sorts of tests and they couldn’t find the issue. However, they prescribed some blood thinners on day 2 of Covid and my resting heart rate has dropped by 20bpm - it’s still higher than it was pre pregnancy but such a huge difference.

I’m going to talk to the consultant at my next appointment about it but just thought I’d let you know if you’re struggling with yours. Could be something completely different.

Mufflette · 12/06/2022 20:55

Is anyone else finding movements really inconsistent? I just don't seem to be able to get any pattern at all! Yesterday it was like there was a little rave going on in there, today nowhere near as much so I started to get worried but am now up to counting over 20 kicks in 15 mins which I presume means all ok! But everything I read and hear says I should notice a pattern so I can't help but worry.

Unknown6 · 12/06/2022 21:16

@Chunks1376 , thank you I was hospitalised at 16 weeks with it, now its not uncommon for my rate to be at 110 when resting. I was checked for clots and that was OK but cardiologist still haven't called me in for a 24 hour tape. My iron has dropped but still at 113 on blood tests.
Have you been suggested to have a c-section to limit e exertion?

Unknown6 · 12/06/2022 21:19

@Mufflette, I find it impossible to see the pattern and its quite scary...my midwife says rather than focus on times etc, consider if it felt like a quiet day...if your worried call MAU . I know a few tricks to get bubba moving such as a cold drink or eating / drinking sugary stuff.

Unknown6 · 12/06/2022 21:21

P.s @Chunks1376 I hope you're OK with covid and symptoms are minimal x

Cakecakecheese · 12/06/2022 21:29

@mufflette The emphasis on 'patterns' can be a red herring tbh. Sometimes the pattern is there is no pattern. Just keep an eye out if movement gets significantly less and if you're worried at all speak to someone.

Mufflette · 12/06/2022 22:22

Thanks @Unknown6 @Cakecakecheese that does reassure me! I think I'll have another chat with my midwife about it next time I see her.

Chunks1376 · 13/06/2022 00:26

@Unknown6 thanks, day 5 tomorrow so hoping to feel a lot better. It’s really knocked me about barely moved from bed.

Yes, the ruled out a blood clot at 7 weeks pregnant for me when I first presented with symptoms. Similar issue resting 110 plus. Had a 24 hour monitor which came back as high but no evident reasons. Then had an echogram which came back as high pulse but no abnormalaties with the heart so just reassured all the red flag problems have been ruled out and it’s just pregnancy.

Phoned triage on day 2 of Covid as resting up to 130, said that it was ok as it’s been so high throughout but the want to prescribe LMWH due to risk of blood clots increasing with Covid. By the next day resting is back down to in the late 80s, can hardly believe it to be honest. They’ve given me a 10 day course but will discuss with consultant at next appointment. Yes we’re having a section, no date yet as they were worried about preterm due to heart rate.

Tacoboutit · 13/06/2022 08:31

Can anyone recommend a baby carrier? They’re like prams, so many options!

Unknown6 · 13/06/2022 14:25

@Chunks1376 , I'm glad you are being looked after, I have been waiting for my 24 hour tape for months. They keep just telling me they are chasing. I have just pushed for the birth options discussion as what you have said above is something I have been concerned about, but don't feel taken seriously. My heart rate can often be at 120 at rest, and walking rate is just scary. Had an ecg, and xray and no real route cause either...we must be reacting to extra blood and hormones. I felt my heart rate was fast from around 8 weeks too but just kept getting told it was normal for weeks until I recorded it.

I'm glad your rate has come down! Was it the midwife who prescribed the medication to you?

Unknown6 · 13/06/2022 14:29

@Tacoboutit , I bought the joie travel system

  • I liked the weight of the pram and wheels on the frame.
  • on the travel seat I liked that it laid flat so you could do longer journeys more safely.
  • the carry cot was also really light

I think the collection was called infinity or something similar.

Mufflette · 13/06/2022 15:13

@Tacoboutit I've bought an Ergobaby Aura off eBay for the first few months and general in- house wearing, and we're also being given a friend's Baby Bjorn (I think it's a One) which we're promised is amazing!

So I have no real advice but I think if we weren't being given on I'd probably be checking out the local sling library for a few test drives before buying.
