@suze12 ooh I'm glad your NCT classes are going well.

We're collecting a bedside crib tomorrow from a lady from Facebook marketplace. Schpock is also worth a look and ebay if you sort it to show results nearest to you.

Celyn22 · 08/06/2022 17:45

@Isonthecase yes... the heat is getting to me! Last night I had to get up in the night and keep the front door open and swirl my scarf around trying to bring in fresh air! My socks and jumper are constantly off and on throughout the day. It’s making me so agitated!

@CoalCraft @ToCaden West Wales here!

...and me too with trying to avoid straining myself when turning over in bed! My belly isn’t even that big but it carries a lot of weight!

@SquigsC check out Ina May Gaskin if you’re interested. She has a lot of great information about birth which really boosted my confidence! Watching videos of chimps, gorillas and elephants giving birth has also helped me too.

Secondtimemum1829 · 08/06/2022 18:26

Hi ladies, hope you are all well. I’m 29 weeks tomorrow, feeling tired and lower back aches on and off but just feeling very heavy. I have my GD test tomorrow, had it in my first pregnancy so convinced I’ll have it again so that’s worrying me. Also random question but has anyone else notice some dimpling/puckering on their boobs? Hubby thinks I had it in my last pregnancy but I can’t remember, will mention it at my appointment tomorrow though. X

Beth262 · 08/06/2022 20:35

@Celyn22 West Wales too!

@Secondtimemum1829 no puckering, but definite stretch marks there for me 😒

Thanks so much Celyn! I will check them out :)

I also haven't had any dimples on my boobs but I have had stretch marks and my nipples have darkened.

squatternutbosh12 · 09/06/2022 05:38

Ugh I keep waking up on my back and stressing about it. I know they say don’t worry if you do and just move back to your side, but all that stuff about stillbirth and back sleeping gets me so anxious each time. :(
I can’t really get to sleep at all with pillows behind me/pregnancy pillow or my hair tied in a bun or pegs/objects stuck on my back lol. Anyone found anything else useful to tackle this?
He was having a good wriggle after I did wake up on my back again this time so presumably he is ok for now!! 😱

I can completely relate to this but honestly, it does get easier. I was so panicked that I started lying on my side in trimester two to get practice 😂I am such a back sleeper. But I often find myself waking up on my back but as long as you fall asleep on your side then you'll spend most of your deep sleep on your side. The fact you are worried shows that you're doing it right!

Celyn22 · 09/06/2022 11:53

@Secondtimemum1829 my nipples have some new bumps on them, as well as a few new ‘cracks’. They aren’t really cracks but I don’t know how else to describe the texture of my nipples! Maybe you can check at the hospital tomorrow when you have your GD test? Good luck!

@Beth262 whoop whoop!

@SquigsC awesome, I hope it helps! Whenever I watch humans giving birth it puts fear into me, which produces the hormone that closes everything up and makes birth harder and take longer! I totally trust that my body knows what to do, and I am good at listening to the signs, so I’m doing what I can to feel confident and prepared, without freaking myself out!

@squatternutbosh12 I’ve heard some OBs online talking about how if it’s not uncomfortable for you, it’s not uncomfortable for the baby. And that our bodies will give us obvious signs when something isn’t right. The ‘lying on your back’ advice apparently came about as generic advice to all pregnant women because it’s easier to offer a blanket statement than to give an assessment on an individual level - as some women have massive heavy bellies, and others don’t. The OBs also say that sleep and rest is more important than anything else, so that enough of your energy can be directed to your little being. So sleep however you can as priority.

This has relieved me a lot as lying on my back reduces the aches in my back so I am treating myself to lying flat before turning to my side. Then to the other side. Then to the other side. Then to the other side! ;) That being said, I know about the restriction to the vena carva, but we can only do our best, for our babies and ourselves, I don’t think waking up on our backs is super harmful- especially if you’re (and I am) getting an abundance of kicks after.

CoalCraft · 09/06/2022 11:59

@squatternutbosh12 Try not to worry; lying on your back is said to be bad because the weight of your uterus can squash important blood vessels and do reduce oxygen supply to the baby, but this will also make you feel uncomfortable and off to the extent that it'll likely wake you up. I remember this happening later on in my first pregnancy. If you felt fine and baby was wriggling then ood flow was probably just fine xx

No dimples here, and no stretch marks yet either (had none at all last time but then I only got to 33 weeks, my stretch marks may just be late bloomers XD ) but my nipples are definitely a lot darker and my boobs have completely changed size and shape. I also have the dark tummy line reappearing.

ToCaden · 09/06/2022 15:53

Feeling really stretched out lately, like there's not much room in the great big beachball for baby to move around. I can see my belly ripple with every little shuffle. It's becoming more and more like an alien movie every day. And i'm still short of 31 weeks!

Anyone else suffering shortness of breath? Uterus seems to be really pressing into diagram at times, and when he puts his feet up in the wrong place i get pins and needles in a section at bottom of my ribs. Apparlently this is him accidently trapping a nerve.

My body is getting a little crowded for the two of us. 😁

Trying to push through getting the house ready with lots of breaks, as can't imagine how difficult it will get to climb on ladders and paint if this continues.

Similar to others re. Boobs. Discolouration and dimpling around the nipple, but not too much difference to boob itself other than a little increase in size.

squatternutbosh12 · 09/06/2022 16:19

Thanks everyone, feeling a bit more reassured! Xx

Beth262 · 09/06/2022 17:09

@ToCaden With you on the shortness of breath. Just the stairs feel like a challenge some times once I've reached the top.

Also have the whole belly moving thing. He just seems to shift his bum from side to side and my bump is constantly a wonky uneven shape as a result...

OP posts:
Celyn22 · 10/06/2022 11:43

@ToCaden yes I get out of breath so easily, sometimes I’m just sitting down and I struggle breathing! It makes me feel really unfit although I know it’s internal space issues! My belly ripples too with each movement, it’s so bizarre and beautiful!

My mum came over to visit yesterday, and I haven’t seen her for a few weeks so she hadn’t felt my little one move yet. He wasn’t playing ball so we had a little poke around and could feel what I’m sure must have been his bum, as when we lightly pressed on it I could feel it strongly low down! It made me need to pee instantly!

makingabebe · 10/06/2022 12:08

@Beth262 are you still in the hospital, is everything ok?

I'm also short of breath - I'm in London and have realised I just cannot walk 'like a Londoner' anymore i.e. I just let everyone rush past me now while I waddle on (32 weeks on Tuesday). But it happens when I'm sitting or lying down too sometimes. Also getting the wonky bump and actually seeing/feeling various parts of baby moving! It's very cool but also very weird.

Spent five hours in hospital earlier this week - a lot of that time, at least three hours, was just waiting to be seen - so nothing dramatic, but have been put on insulin to take overnight because my blood sugar levels are too high before breakfast. They also talked about possibly inducing me at 37 weeks 😐 I am NOT ready for that! Also been given iron tablets along with more constipation medicine, yay. So feeling a bit down and husband is away until Monday on a surfing weekend. The temptation to eat my feelings is high! But I'll just cuddle my cats instead.

Isonthecase · 10/06/2022 14:43

Eek, sounds like a busy week @makingabebe ! I'm in London tomorrow, dreading the walking and the trains. Oh the trains 😭 Dunno how you do it full time whilst pregnant!

Hoping everyone is feeling fairly ok, or as much as we can be whilst hot, heavy, and knackered 😅

SquigsC · 10/06/2022 15:55

Oh my gosh ladies, I feel you with the breathlessness! I feel like mine started right on the dot at 28 weeks (third trimester - I am 32 weeks now) and I have been a proper heavy breather since then. If it's not breathlessness, it's heart burn, if it's not heart burn, it's acid reflux, and if it's not that then it's my bloody PGP! Finding a comfortable way to sit is near impossible. It also doesn't help that I was diagnosed as anaemic, although the iron supplements have helped with the dizzy spells.

KCat82 · 10/06/2022 16:14

Hi. Haven't managed to post for a while and just been catching up on everyone's updates. It's getting very real now isn't it? Definitely with you all on the breathlessness thing.
I had a nice week away with family down south last week but came back with a stomach/sickness bug which hospitalised me due to the GD. It wasn't fun, especially when they told me the monitor said I was having contractions and thought I might be in early labour....that was quickly ruled out....phew!! but I was on the delivery suite and hearing a few labours certainly made the reality hit home that this baby is coming out...and quite soon. It meant that after I was discharged, DH and a I decided not to put off buying car seat, pram, furniture any longer as there's only one person who is going to decide when this baby arrives, and it's certainly ain't us!!!!! 😬

Secondtimemum1829 · 10/06/2022 19:20

I get what you mean about the breathlessness too, I also can’t stand for long now without my lower back hurting. I’m also not looking forward to a 3rd trimester in the heat!! Had my GD test yesterday so nervously waiting the results. I had it in my last pregnancy so expecting the worse but just hate the waiting to find out x

squatternutbosh12 · 10/06/2022 23:09

Another joining the breathlessness club! (What a fun club…)
also, I haven’t got the dark line down my belly at all (anyone else got no sign of this??), but I have got a dark circle all around my belly button! It makes it look like a bullseye target 🤣

Unknown6 · 11/06/2022 09:49

Omg! It's going to hit 28c I my area on Friday according to my weather app! How will I cope...19c has been hard enough 😔

Breathlessness I'm finding a bit scary to be honest...my heart rate is so high too and has been since the start.
I also had a high BP reading but I think it was because I was anxious about an appointment, rather than be too risky so now need to monitor.

ToCaden · 11/06/2022 12:19

@squatternutbosh12 no dark line here either.

@Unknown6 eek. Prep for the heat like you're prepping for an incoming tornado. Errands done before the day, freeze bottles of drink of your choice, fans, icepacks. Good luck!

Beth262 · 11/06/2022 13:31

@squatternutbosh12 No dark line for me either, though I have a random dark patch on my face 🙈 Oh the things they don't tell you about pregnancy 😆

madeleine85 · 11/06/2022 15:44

@squatternutbosh12 thanks for the bullseye comment, you made me chuckle. Pregnancy does such weird things, it’s both great and bizarre when it goes straight back too.

@Unknown6 Im in LA (Brit abroad) but there’s a heatwave here and it’s been 28 the last few days, with no signs of stopping. Trying to not use air conditioning as it’s so bloody expensive. I live on a diet of fruit and ice lollies right now. Hope you’re coping ok! All my exercise is indoors now as the last time I really kick started labour by hiking with friends in a heatwave. Make sure to hydrate all the time please is my biggest advice. It can make such a difference to keeping them in at this point!!

@Beth262 is yours still in and behaving? Hope so!!

Unknown6 · 11/06/2022 16:24

To all those in the UK it's expected to be 28c here, I'm in Oxfordshire...I think most of you are in the UK.
