@Delight12 thank goodness they caught it! Sounds like you're in the right place and worst case if they have to get the baby out it's at a point where there aren't likely to be any long term side effects.

Good point. It's amazing how fast they develop. At this point it's mainly the lungs still cooking, and if necessary intubation and oxygen can be used to give them the time to finish off development outside the body.

Thanks for all your messages.
Glucose test made me feel sick and faint, so I sat on the floor for most of it 🙃

Bump measured small, so another scan was booked in today, turns out she's fine I there and growing well just my bump is smaller than they'd expect 🤷‍♀️

Sorry for those having a rubbish time 😕
I'm definitely feeling more tired by the day now!
12 weeks to goooo 🤪

CoalCraft · 22/05/2022 07:10

Bit of a scary night. Woke up with a pretty extreme contraction and feeling very odd. Thought I was gonna have to rush into triage again. Thankfully there was only one .ore much weaker contraction and the odd feeling turned out to be gas 🤦

So tired of over analysing every tiny thing my body does.

mamaof2girls · 22/05/2022 07:20

@CoalCraft

Member it's normal you get braxton hicks around this point witch is like fake contractions aslong as you don't have so many in a hour it is completely normal apparently making sure your really hydrated can help stop it as much x

CoalCraft · 22/05/2022 09:12

@mamaof2girls Yeah, problem is in my last pregnancy I was getting them many times an hour and it ended causing preterm birth, so I get paranoid even when I get just one now, especially a strong one. I have to go lie down and make sure they aren't coming regularly. Already been into triage once this pregnancy when I was getting them every 4-5 minutes. Thankfully haven't had that since in this one 🤞

Unknown6 · 22/05/2022 16:39

Is anyone getting headaches?
I have checked my blood pressure and its low for me. Dunno if its just stress from work/ the weather (plus they called me to repeat some bloods on thursday, which obviously gets you googling) or if I should be concerned, will call the midwife tomorrow, but just wanted to check. It goes with paracetamol.

CoalCraft · 22/05/2022 17:06

@Unknown6 If it's unusual for you and very severe then it might be worth getting checked out. Personally I wouldn't be concerned unless it went on for a long while, but then I do just get headaches from time to time!

madeleine85 · 22/05/2022 17:13

@CoalCraft this happened to me last week. And I also have a preterm history. It went away, but I keep getting low level abdominal pains, and my lower back still feels tender like the day after I had my DD. I’m going to talk to my doctor this week when I’m in. Sending a hand hold your way. If this is BH for me, then it really hurt, and was both abdominal and lower back cramps. Not like the final 2 hours of labour, but like the starting contraction cramps before that. It took my breath away for 2 hours in the middle of the night. Pregnancy is a crap shoot, bc similarly, it might just have been indigestion issues caused by lactose (shouldn’t have it but ate ice cream). It’s interesting you had digestive discomfort too. How are you feeling now?

CoalCraft · 22/05/2022 18:28

@madeleine85 It's no fun is, it? Even knowing that sporadic Braxton Hicks is normal, I still get concerned by just one or two.

Have been better today though, thank you. Have had the odd contraction here and there but nothing too intense and certainly not very frequent.

About the intestinal stuff, I actually have a pet theory that an unhappy gut is a trigger for the contractions, at least for me. In my first pregnancy I was chronically constipated and had regular contractions throughout, whereas this time I've kept on top of it and haven't had anything like the same frequency of contractions. The one time I have had regular contractions in this pregnancy I simultaneously had a tummy bug, so probably my intestines were a bit inflamed.

It could just be coincidence of course but my pet theory is that when there's inflammation on my intestine it... Presses on the uterus and irritates it, maybe? Or maybe of there's inflammatory factors generally in my abdomen they affect my uterus too. As I say, could just be coincidence, but it's certainly made me even more cautious about getting enough fibre and hydration!

madeleine85 · 22/05/2022 19:07

@CoalCraft that’s really interesting, and honestly you may very much be right. I think I’ll continue to avoid lactose and see how I feel re. Contractions. It’s crazy how sensitive bodies are to the tiniest things!

Unknown6 · 22/05/2022 19:35

@CoalCraft , I'm prone to headaches alot in the past but seem to have been alot better in pregnancy, which was why I was thinking...if it comes back tomorrow I will give the midwife a call just to be sure....last night's one was awful but it went with paracetamol.

Cakecakecheese · 22/05/2022 21:00

Busy week this week, consultant appointment Tuesday and the fun glucose test Wednesday.

CoalCraft · 22/05/2022 21:22

@madeleine85 Good luck! Crossing my fingers we can both avoid too many tightenings xx

Unknown6 · 22/05/2022 21:56

@Cakecakecheese, good luck!

madeleine85 · 23/05/2022 04:22

@CoalCraft you too!!

@Cakecakecheese good luck, let us know how they go! We have our 26 week checkup and GD check on Thursday. It was my bday last week and I’ve been solidly eating sugar and junk... my hopes are low of passing this one! googles how to pass a gd test

Yes to the feeling tired. Possibly overdid it this weekend towards my goal of getting the upstairs rooms done before baby. Slept from moment my head hit pillow except bathroom breaks, and feeling about 1 percent awake this morning. Managed to keyboard smash something logging onto work this morning in my dazed state and had to phone in to recover a password due to it.

Still, making progress. 28 week midwife appointment this week. Only six weeks until i find out if i'll need a c section or if i get the ok for vaginal birth. I'm not sure if time is zooming, but things that seemed so far away definitely feel like they're looming around the corner.

Isonthecase · 23/05/2022 09:58

Also absolutely wiped today. Have already spoken to the consultant and booked a gp call so I suppose that's something but no actual work 🙈

PopGoesBang · 23/05/2022 13:56

I may have dozed off during work this afternoon. I think it was about 20 minutes. I've now moved locations and had some water in the hope of pepping me up! Also missed the post man during that time so will now have to had a trek to the collection office into my week.

Good luck to those with their GD tests this week. Hope they all go well.

@KCat82 how are you doing?

My fragmin injections are giving me wonderful bruises, glad I opted for my thighs, they don't really get to see the light of day.
Had a wonderful pregnancy massage last week. My hips and lower back have felt so much better. And he did some wonderful lymphatic drainage, I'd had occasions of sausage toes but not a lot of swelling and he said it would help prevent it - I've noticed a difference which is great.

Half term next week, I'm looking forward to some days off work and doing a few things with dd. Her birthday is soon after and then before we know it baby and summer holidays will be here - I think they may come very close together now there is talk of induction.

makingabebe · 23/05/2022 14:38

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while ... I'm 29 weeks, just had the call from the hospital, I have GD, I burst into tears because I felt guilty but I know it's really common etc. Going to hospital tomorrow to get the lowdown on the diet and testing. At least it will help me eat better! And I'll get an extra scan. Don't want to tell my parents because they will judge/blame me. So I probably won't!

PopGoesBang · 23/05/2022 16:51

@makingabebe as I was recommended gestational diabetes .co.uk and the group on FB have been an invaluable resource for me on getting to grips with GD.
Don't feel guilty, this isn't anything you could do differently, it very much hormonal. You know now and that's what counts. You'll be ok. It seems like loads to take in, and I've definitely had my teary moments.
I'm no pro on it, but happy to answer any questions I can, I know I've picked @KCat82 brain too.

makingabebe · 23/05/2022 17:42

Thank you @PopGoesBang I know it's not the worst thing, it's just one more thing on top of everything else - placenta is covering cervix so getting nervous about possibly having a C section but also nervous about vaginal birth ... pregnancy is also bringing up a lot of emotions to do with my upbringing and so realised last week that I need to seek help with that ... and we moved house in late November and supply chain crap has meant we just don't have enough furniture/storage so there's still boxes everywhere.

Also I am usually the planner/organiser and have a very good memory so not having full control over things and forgetting things and just being really tired out all the time by simple tasks is taking getting used to.

I know there is still time before August to sort things out and I am lucky in that there is nothing very seriously wrong with me or the baby and I have a supportive husband (the things I read on here sometimes ...). My baby is much wanted and I cannot wait to meet them*. Just need to get a grip!

*not finding out sex hence 'them', 'baby' and indeed 'bebe'

PopGoesBang · 23/05/2022 18:22

@makingabebe Your handling it all really well.And there is limits to what everyone can take. You'll know more after your appt tomorrow, and if your diabetic team are anything like mine they'll be on hand to help at any point and reassure you too.

positivevibes22 · 24/05/2022 07:18

Hi ladies, hope you all are doing well. So sorry to hear about those of you with GD. Hope everything goes well with all of you, without too much stress. There is not much to go, we're almost there. Can't believe it's almost June 😆

I was wondering if any of you is considering Cord Blood Banking. There are very good promotions going on at the moment and I think I have already made my mind but wanted to check with you if you have any experience with Future Health Biobank, Smart cells or Cells 4 life?

squatternutbosh12 · 24/05/2022 10:27

Hey team, I’m so shattered I can barely function, but just wanted to check in and say hi, sorry some of you are having a rough time and sending hand holds!
We had a growth scan yesterday and little one is doing well, measurements all looking ok and he’s 24th centile for weight currently. Had been worried as I’ve lost quite a lot of weight from vomiting/struggling to eat but it seems he’s getting what he needs more or less. Phew!

hope you’re all doing ok and looking after yourselves, home straight now! x
