New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

Thanks for the suggestions of what to have on the list. Need to properly start thinking about it this weekend - especially the snacks 😋 Its all new to me as with DS, I'd only gone in to be checked over at 30 weeks with some spotting. No beds so shipped off as a precaution to the closest hospital with capacity 2 and a half hours away with just the clothes I had on and a borrowed nightie. I endeavour to be better prepared this time, spontaneous early labour or not!!

You guys are terrifying me with talks of hospital bags, as sensible as it is. A vague acquaintance who's also an august due date gave birth last week at 27 weeks, and i can't get over that she has an actual baby while my house is a tip still doing work on rooms getting ready for my baby.

I agree with those saying time is doing some really weird things lately.

Cakecakecheese · 18/05/2022 18:26

I've had a hospital bag started for a while as I've been bunging stuff in there as I've been acquiring it. Do need to do a proper list at some point.

Hi all, nice to see lots of the updates. I have my glucose test this Friday, not looking forward to that!
Was measured today and am at 27+4 but measuring 25cm so another scan will be booked as I'm small 🤷‍♀️.
Also has anyone got A- blood type and has to have the anti-D jab? I've got that next week too.
Feels like I haven't seen midwife in ages and now I've got 3 appointments in the space of a week! 😵‍💫
Getting quicker by the day!

Celyn22 · 19/05/2022 08:37

Hey @LiMc1! Yes I am A- too and most likely will have the anti-D injection, but I have heard of the RHD fetal blood test, which can tell if the baby is positive or negative. If negative then no anti-D needed. They don't offer that here in Wales so not sure how to find somewhere that does offer it! My anti-D is booked in quite soon though so it may be too late

Beth262 · 19/05/2022 12:59

Hope everyone is doing well. Hope the test goes well tomorrow @LiMc1

Trying to make some decisions about excess annual I have... Only 4 days so nothing earth shattering! Due to start maternity leave on 1 August. Taking 2 weeks annual leave prior to that from 15 July. Do I take those 'spare' 4 days in one hit and finish on 11 July instead, or take one day every week in the run up to it. Still ship DS off to creche but have a day every week to just do what I fancy before I get to big (and hot) to move.

What would you do? x

Hi! I am A- and had the anti-D jab. It wasn't too bad, they give you the injection and then they just keep an eye on you for 20 mins to make sure you're okay :) the appointments are definitely speeding up now!

RP90 · 19/05/2022 17:04

@Beth262 I'd take the days on the run up to Mat leave starting. Take them when it's only going to be you in the house! Get snacks in and enjoy some you time!!

Delight12 · 19/05/2022 18:28

Sorry it's a long one. I'm having a really horrible time ATM, for the last couple of weeks I've been struggling to breathe so I went to my GP who said it was asthma, on Monday I had my midwife appointment and she rushed me straight to A&E as I was bad ECG, bloods and lungs apparently all clear so they sent me for a CT scan today because of clots. Turns out I may have fluid on one lung so I now need a chest x-ray and more bloods done tomorrow, I'm thinking the worst and I'm so scared I don't know what to do.

madeleine85 · 19/05/2022 18:34

@Delight12 I am so sorry that you are going through this, but also so glad that you are being cared for properly now! Sending all the hugs and positive vibes for a quick recovery your way x

madeleine85 · 19/05/2022 18:35

@Beth262take those blissful days solo and pamper yourself, watch trashy TV and just relax!

KCat82 · 19/05/2022 19:22

@Delight12 sorry to hear you're not well. Hope they sort you out and send you home soon. You're in the right place though, but must be tough! Hang in there.

@Beth262 I'd opt for the shorter week each week and enjoy some time to yourself.

Isonthecase · 19/05/2022 19:47

@Beth262 definitely shorter weeks. They'll feel absolutely glorious.

@Delight12 sorry to hear you're poorly, hopefully it turns out to be nothing serious. Breathlessness can be all sorts of things - baby squashing lungs and low iron are both totally normal causes.

Unknown6 · 19/05/2022 21:14

@Delight12 , I had this my main issue was fast heart rate at 16 weeks. I had ecg , bloods and chest xray. All was OK and I was discharged, they were concerned about clots.

Heart rate still high now and breathing is hard, but I know previous checks were OK. I hope you're not feeling too bad now and all is OK.
I have to have more blood tests and had to have last week's one retaken today.
I have been considering a c-section as walking speeds up my heart so goodness knows what labour would be like.
I just wanted to let you know a few others have breathing/ heart rate issues, so please don't feel alone xxx

Delight12 · 19/05/2022 21:37

Thank you for all your messages, I'm going to stay positive for now until we know for sure what is actually happening.

Beth262 · 19/05/2022 21:53

Thank you @RP90 @madeleine85 @KCat82 @Isonthecase it seems the concensus is unanimous - lazy, snack filled trash TV days here I come!

@Delight12 sorry to hear you're having a bit of a rough time. I think you're taking the right approach. Positive thinking until you know exactly what you're dealing with. Hopefully just a storm in a teacup x

So turns out the fluid on my lung is an infection so no need to panic, but I do in fact have pre-eclampsia so now stuck in hospital fo god knows how long

Beth262 · 20/05/2022 17:56

Oh @Delight12 You solve one problem and they find another. I really hope time passes quickly for you in hospital. Make sure your DH brings lots of snacks for you and plenty to keep your mind occupied. Have they given any indication at all how long ypu may be in for? x

Delight12 · 20/05/2022 18:13

@Beth262 he has a very long list lol, not yet just waiting for my blood pressure to go down it's so high. I'm in the best place for it.

Mufflette · 20/05/2022 19:13

@Delight12 so sorry you're having such a stressful time! You're right, you're in the best place to be kept an eye on, but I hope you don't have to spend too long there!

Had this exact issue and chose to take a day off a week on run up to mat leave.

Glad you're in the safest place right now for your current issues, but sad you have to go through this. Wishing you well.

PopGoesBang · 20/05/2022 19:36

@Delight12 sorry to hear you're stuck there for a while. But so good they have hopefully caught it early enough to help. If it's not one worry it's another.
Take it steady and hope the rest and care help.

squatternutbosh12 · 21/05/2022 01:10

@Delight12 really sorry to hear this! How stressful for you. Hopefully they get that BP down soon and can send you home. As well as food, get your husband to bring you ‘take a break’ magazines, full of hilariously trashy ridiculous stories like ‘I married a ghost’, ‘boyfriend ran off with my granny’, ‘murdered by a chicken dinner’ etc- quality reading for sure, they helped me pass time with a smile when I was in hospital for a while a few years ago. Get well soon Xx

mamaof2girls · 21/05/2022 08:13

@Delight12 sorry to here you have pre eclampsia and having to stay in the hospital hope you don't have to be in too long and that everything is fine but you are defo in the best place.

Been so busy again the past few weeks both kids have ended up with scarlet fever so not been the greatest off times with 2 unwell kids. Am now 26 weeks just wanting it to go fast now! X
