I should’ve put ours- we haven’t managed to narrow it down very much, but we like Benjamin, Henry, Reuben, Alexander, Owen, Lewis, Rowan, Casper

although.. the midwife looking after me yesterday was called Rhea and she said ’call him Rio after me’ - and now I can’t get it out of my head 😆

squatternutbosh12 · 07/05/2022 20:19

Oh and if it had been a girl we had Emma, Rose, Elspeth (Elsie), Hannah, Hazel, Isobel

netflixandnochill · 07/05/2022 21:55

Love all those names @squatternutbosh12 and Isobel is on the shortlist for a middle name here!

Cakecakecheese · 08/05/2022 10:57

We're having a bit of a baby name drama as my partner's cousin who is expecting a boy in October has announced they're calling him the name we wanted. I went through a few days of thinking sod them we go first so we can call our baby whatever we like but now I'm starting to go off the name and quite like our second choice name. I went off the second choice name last week but it's back in now 😂 This is why we're not deciding on anything until he's here!

Mufflette · 08/05/2022 11:06

I feel like I might scream at the next person who asks about names, 5 separate people asked yesterday and my mum is obsessed! I just want us to be left alone to decide! I think this is my equivalent of bump touching 😂

Mufflette · 08/05/2022 11:07

Posted halfway through...
I have a really short list that just keeps getting shorter, boy names are tricky... But maybe that leaves us with only 1/2 left and an easy decision! Middle name is easy as our dads have the same name so he'll have his grandads' name as middle one.

Cakecakecheese · 08/05/2022 13:29

@Mufflette yeah people ask and I won't give them specifics as everyone will have someone they don't like with that name or whatever.

We've sorted the middle name as it's my late Dad's name but it's a vowel so it can make initials a bit challenging as there's a couple of 3 letter words that you really won't want the initials to spell out!

CoalCraft · 08/05/2022 13:44

We currently have Eve as a "working title"! Still open to something else coming along but for now she's Eve ☺️

Back up boy's name just in case is William.

Cakecakecheese · 08/05/2022 13:57

Eve is lovely. I would have wanted William but it would be a bad idea with our surname!

CoalCraft · 08/05/2022 21:49

Uch, have been congratulating myself on avoiding the pregnancy constipation this time round but seems to has caught me finally. It's uncomfy obviously but also worries me as it seems to trigger more tightenings. Seems to be overindulgence on cheese that brings it on, so I'll have to cut back... Are there any food related joys left??

squatternutbosh12 · 08/05/2022 23:08

@CoalCraft noooo not the cheese!! I could not cope without cheese it is one of my few remaining pleasures 🤣
have you tried Dulcosoft? I had awful constipation and this is the one thing that’s helped. And I also have sodium docusate tablets prescribed by the consultant but tbh I mostly use the dulcosoft. Would also advise many, many prunes (can’t really eat these at the moment due to sickness taking over but they certainly do the job) Good luck x

Beth262 · 09/05/2022 08:04

@CoalCraft I had it with DS and was told to take lactulose by the midwife. You can get it in most pharmacies. I found it reaaaally good stuff but takes a few hours to work.

@squatternutbosh12 I love Rueben. It was my first choice but DP doesn't like it. Mainly because we have a 2 syllable surname also beginning with R so I see his point as it wouldn't really work for us, but I just love the name!

I'm also someone who is finding boys names are really hard. Had one girl's name picked out no issue - Callie - but two scans definitely say this is a boy!
Have a short list (the majority of which DP doesn't agree with) but hopefully 13 weeks still to decide. 27 weeks today. Time seems to be whizzing along now!

Isonthecase · 09/05/2022 11:03

I also liked Reuben but vetoed, along with Raphael, sadly! We have vastly different taste and already used the only boys names we agree on on the first two 😂

Isonthecase · 09/05/2022 11:04

If anyone else needs inspiration, the birth announcements can be good. I found a few places collating them online. There were two Peregrines last week so maybe socially acceptable?!

KCat82 · 09/05/2022 11:40

DH and I are quite agreeable when it comes to names. We have a list of about 8 but we both seem to have a different favourite. Although he likes my favourite, it's the same initial as our surname which I think he finds more problematic than I do. That said, we've agreed we won't make any firm decisions until we set eyes on her.

@Beth262 Callie is a lovely name. I've put that on our list 😊
In other news, DH felt baby kick for the first time this morning and that was very exciting.
@PopGoesBang how's the testing going?

PopGoesBang · 09/05/2022 12:11

Name wise I think we've settled on a first name. Dp doesn't have a middle name, and so doesn't think we need one, but I quiet like middle names. So this is now a 'what about?' I think he'll end up saying whatever so we'll see!

@KCat82 testing is going ok, had a wobble last week where it all felt too much. But have seen the numbers come down and be better and in range. I've struggled with my fasting ones but this morning I was under the 5.3 and that was lovely to see.
How are you finding it all? Any good snacks you can recommend? I'm worried I'll get stuck in a rut and then get bored quickly.

KCat82 · 09/05/2022 13:02

@PopGoesBang Glad to hear you're doing well with the testing. I think the fasting ones are most difficult to control.
Snack wise, I have become hooked on strawberries, and nature valley protein peanut and chocolate bars are delicious. My big favourite though is Oppo double salted caramel ice cream. It's worth every penny!!! I think I have more of a sweet tooth now than before the GD diagnosis 😊

PopGoesBang · 09/05/2022 14:41

@KCat82 I keep hearing about the oppo ice cream had a brief look at the weekend in Asda and couldn't see it. So will look again when we go sainsburys this week.
Think it's all about having. The nice things that feel normal and you don't have to worry about!

Beth262 · 09/05/2022 14:52

@Isonthecase I'll take a look at that and try to find some DP can agree on, thanks.

@KCat82 Aww glad you like it. Someone may as well use it if I can't! ☺️

How is everyone?

Sorry to hear about the GD results for some people, I have my test at the start of June. Growth scan, midwife BP preeclampsia monitoring kit and GD test within 2 days at the start of June lol!

I literally have nothing organised so far and no names etc 😂😂, hoping it all falls into place x

ToCaden · 10/05/2022 12:14

I have my name sorted. He's an ivf baby so had a long time to think over names. Still feels a little strange to say it out loud though, like i've jinksing it or something.

Also as of two days ago when standing i can no longer see my toes. I feel huge. My mother says i'm bigger than when she was full term (i'm 26 weeks). Has anyone else reached 'where are my toes' stage or is it just me?

SquigsC · 10/05/2022 13:11

There are so many lovely names. It's particularly nice to see the boy names, as my partner can agree so easily on girl names - but once we found out we're having a boy it's been a nightmare. He has one name that he is stubbornly fixated on while I keep offering names that I think are too 'out there' for him. Casper being one of them @squatternutbosh12!

So at my last midwife appt I was measuring big (25 weeks at 28cm) so went in for a GD test (negative) but this time around I am measuring perfectly for 28 weeks, but I've only grown a cm (29cm). Does the drama ever end? I have started getting paranoid that I am not recording my kicks well enough etc etc.

SquigsC · 10/05/2022 13:12

Sorry I should have also explained - I have been referred for a growth scan next week.

Mirabella3 · 10/05/2022 16:53

@ToCaden I am also pregnant with an IVF baby and I’m 25wks. My mum says I’m bigger than she ever was with me (although she did give birth to me at 27 weeks!) and when she carried my brother to full term. My partner’s mum also keeps commenting on how big my bump is. I am quite small in frame, 5ft and size 8 so it’s a shock when people see me now!

I had a scan at 24wks and placenta is still low (noted low at 16wk and 20wk scans) and baby is transverse. Really hoping placenta will move up, I know I still have time but I can’t stop thinking about it! I’m having monthly scans for them to keep an eye on it. Also now that baby is kicking more, I can feel myself getting obsessed over movements! I have my 25wk midwife appointment tomorrow and I’m going to talk to her about my anxiety. Don’t think I’ll be able to relax until baby is safely in my arms! 😅
