Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PopGoesBang · 10/05/2022 17:04

@SquigsC there is always something to worry about!
With the kicks if you are ever worried, call midwife triage and they will happily see you and check. I've been told this again this pregnancy and made use of it last time.

A week I thought I wouldn't have to be up the hospital and didn't quite make it. I have to go to be shown how to use insulin on Thursday which I'll then be starting because my fasting sugars are too high and not coming down.
Saturday I'll also find out if I have to have blood thinners.
Just as well o don't pass out at needles any more 🙈

ToCaden · 10/05/2022 17:22

@Mirabella3 that's really interesting. Low placenta here too. They'll be making a decision after 34 week scan as to whether it's in a better position by then, or whether they book me in for c section.

I'm doing better with worrying now baby is bigger and stronger (mainly by distracting myself with getting the upstairs like i want it before baby is here. There's quite a bit to do, so keeping me busy) but up to dating scan i was convinced something would go wrong. It's hard to believe that after so long trying there's finally going to be a baby.

Good idea to talk to your midwife regarding your anxiety. Just from my midwife's constant checkins about my mental health, it seems like they're really on the ball and should be able to help you out.

Delight12 · 10/05/2022 19:07

Hi everyone, anxiety is through the roof at the moment I have an anterior placenter so obviously can't feel baby much and it's really getting to me. Some days I'm like I definitely feel her move then other days I get nothing and I worry all the time, apart from being at the hospital everyday what else can I do to keep my mind at ease? I'm 28 weeks I do have a growth scan tomorrow so will get to see her which will settle my mind for a little while, but I'm always scared something is going to go wrong and I'm not enjoying this pregnancy like I should be. Sorry for the long post.

CoalCraft · 11/05/2022 09:57

@Delight12 Sorry to hear your struggling with anxiety. Unfortunately the only thing I can recommend is trying to keep busy so that your mind stays off it, but I know that's easier said than done. If you speak to your midwife they may be able to advise more help like counselling.

Hope your scan goes well today xx

Cakecakecheese · 11/05/2022 11:05

@Delight12 I have anterior placenta too and it is so frustrating. I had a midwife appointment, she used the doppler and said he was kicking and wriggling about but I couldn't feel a thing!

Mirabella3 · 11/05/2022 13:12

@ToCaden thank you. That’s good you’re doing better in regards to your worrying. I definitely need to distract myself with decorating that I’ve been putting off!

I had my 25wk midwife appointment today and my midwife advised me to speak to the local therapy support group regarding my anxiety. If this doesn’t help I will be referred to the perinatal mental health team. Feeling better today after hearing baby’s heartbeat. Hope everyone is doing well!

KCat82 · 11/05/2022 20:08

@PopGoesBang sorry to hear you've been put on insulin so soon but good that they are having you in to show you how to use it.

PopGoesBang · 11/05/2022 20:29

@KCat82 Yeah it is a little disappointing, but I just can't get my fasting levels down, they said they look at a weeks readings and if 4 were over that would trigger the next step - I've only had one on target. Levels after eating are fine.
On a more positive note I got some of the oppo ice cream last night. Tried a little bit of it and it was indeed yummy!
How are you getting on?

Delight12 · 11/05/2022 21:06

@CoalCraft @Cakecakecheese thank you both for replying, I had my scan today everything is perfect she was moving so much but I didn't feel a thing. The midwife thinks I'm going to have a tiny baby as she is small but they aren't too worried as my first was small at 6lb 2oz and he was 2 weeks late but extra scans coming my way from now

CoalCraft · 11/05/2022 22:29

@Delight12 Glad to hear all is well xx

SquigsC · 11/05/2022 22:36

@PopGoesBang thank you for the reassuring words! Funnily enough, I had my growth scan today and all was fine, and now the baby won't stop kicking. So typical.

How are you doing? I am so sorry you are going through so much - pregnancy is hard enough as it is. Also please spill which Oppo flavour you had!

squatternutbosh12 · 11/05/2022 23:55

@Mirabella3 @SquigsC @Delight12 the amount of worry in pregnancy is so rough, I’m sorry you’re having a hard time of it 😞 definitely echo suggestion to reaching out to triage midwives if you’re not sure or the worry gets too much re movement etc- all over my maternity notes it says in bold to call it in any doubt and they would far rather see you even when there’s absolutely nothing wrong than you sit at home stressing. 💐

@PopGoesBang sorry to hear about the insulin sounds like you are having a tough old time with that too! My friend had GD and was also put on insulin rather quickly- but it sorted her levels out really fast and she both felt better and less worried about it all once things were stable, so keeping my fingers crossed for that for you too.

I’ve had a very annoying resurgence of PGP after several pain free weeks!! I just awkwardly jarred it and now it’s back. Gah!!! Hopefully just temporary again! Ouch 😣

PopGoesBang · 12/05/2022 03:31

@SquigsC Glad everything is good. These little ones know how to get us worried from the get go!
I got two flavours, I've tried the vanilla caramel brownie, delicious and an I have double chocolate brownie to try - I didn't start with that for fear of not wanting to stop!! There seem to be lots of very tempting choices left to try.

@squatternutbosh12 My hopes exactly, I'd rather start early and get on track and be doing all I can to make sure baby is ok. If I get to feel a bit better then that's a bonus. In the grand scheme of things it will soon pass.
Sorry you're struggling with PGP has your midwife suggested any physio to help? Pain is exhausting, let alone on top on being pregnant. I hope it eases for you again.

Isonthecase · 12/05/2022 08:04

When do they start saying to call if the movements are odd? I mentally had it down as 28 weeks but may be totally wrong. Doesn't help I've not seen a midwife for ages as they only do a day a week and keep booking it for when I'm working!!

Has everyone had their matb1 now?

Mufflette · 12/05/2022 08:13

@Isonthecase I asked my midwife about that yesterday (25 weeks) and the message was that at any point if you're worried about movements you should get in touch - here it's call the midwife team before 26 weeks and the day assessment unit after that. Basically she said fine to wait and see what happens over a day but if you're still not feeling much by the evening then call and they'd rather have you turn up just as baby's started wriggling around and be ok than leave it a few days and not be!

I got my matb1 from her too.

PopGoesBang · 12/05/2022 08:23

@Isonthecase I'd definitely say call the triage team if you are at all worried.
I had my Matb1 form sent over ages ago, I was quite shocked. I remember having to ask for it last time. But then my names midwife has left so wondered if she was getting off bits done before she went.

Hope everyone has a good day.

beckybloomwood11 · 12/05/2022 08:30

@Isonthecase I had an appointment with my midwife yesterday and she told me policy in my trust is to call the midwife team between 24 and 28 weeks, triage after 28 weeks. But she said either way the best thing to do is to call, as they can make an assessment based on how far along you are and what you're describing.

How frustrating that you haven't seen a midwife in a while. Are you able to take time off work to go? My understanding is legally your work has to let you have paid time off for antenatal appointments.

Mufflette · 12/05/2022 13:51

I thought I was being an over-planner by checking out local nursery waiting lists (planning to take 9 months maternity) but apparently there's already a list of unborn babies that I can be added to! So I'm finding myself looking at times to visit nurseries which feels totally crazy 😂

Beth262 · 12/05/2022 14:43

@Isonthecase I echo the others to give a call if you're worried. My trust encourage to call from 24 if movements stop or differ.

@Mufflette An unborn baby waiting list?! That's crazy! 😮

madeleine85 · 12/05/2022 16:54

@Beth262 I had to add mine at 12 weeks gestation. Granted, i'm in the US, but i've heard that the busier UK locations have the same issue. Here if they have a sibling in already they get to skip to the top of the waiting list once they arrive, but it is still so stressful not knowing if/when they will have a spot!

KCat82 · 12/05/2022 16:56

@PopGoesBang I'm glad you liked the Oppo ice cream. I'm hoping I can find the strawberry cheesecake one somewhere. No luck so far. Hope the insulin sorts out the fasting readings soon, you're doing well with mealtimes though by the sounds of it. I'm doing ok thanks, just relentless indigestion but I think that's just pregnancy, not GD! 😊

@Isonthecase I've got my MatB1. Work were quite keen to have a copy so I just rang the midwives team and they sent it in the post, may help if you're not getting to see anyone very often. That's really rubbish though!!!

Beth262 · 12/05/2022 17:13

@madeleine85 Wow! With DS I put his name down in the September to start in the December - clearly I'm very fortunate where I am 🙈 Though I'd very much love to be in the US!

OP posts:
PopGoesBang · 13/05/2022 07:47

@KCat82 I think I remember seeing the strawberry cheesecake one in Waitrose, and they were half price currently. Good luck finding it.
I've just had the banana pancakes from the gestational diabetes website for a bit of a mix up for breakfast, and I was sceptical before but I have to say they were quite nice. Worth a try if breakfast is getting at all samey.

28 week midwife appt tomorrow. Can't believe that Sunday means 3rd trimester. Seems to have flown by on one hand and on the other feels like it's taken forever.

Hope everyone has a good Friday

ToCaden · 13/05/2022 08:52

Amazing that some of our group are now in third trimester. Time seems to have sped up last few weeks.

CoalCraft · 13/05/2022 09:26

Yeah very fortunate here - thought there'd be a waiting list for DD to go to nursery but nope, straight in! It's a lovely nursery too! Hope it's just as easy to get her sister in
