Thanks guys, I think my cough is getting better, so I feel less worried i'm about to pee myself today, which is nice! My toddler's doctors think she has a new infection on top of the one from last week. I swear by the time she is 5, she better be invincible to all bugs :) @Unknown6 sorry you have allergies that are making you feel rotten, this time of the year really is the worst!!

Isonthecase · 04/05/2022 22:57

@Beth262 @Unknown6 sad to say I'm already fully strapped up, had sore ligaments sitting still in the car earlier though so might need to go up a grade. It's all glitz and glam 😂

@madeleine85 the trick is lower your standards and accept that if you're ill your kid(s) will live on toast and watch far too much telly 🙈 personally I recommend a cuddle on the sofa with the telly on so you can nap but wake up if they move. Unfortunately no recommendations for the peeing, I've already done the waters or pee scare this pregnancy! So grim.

KCat82 · 05/05/2022 08:09

@PopGoesBang hope the first test went ok today.
Yes, i started a food diary as a friend had sent me hers for meal inspiration. If I'm honest, I keep forgetting to update it so it's quite gappy but it was useful to start with so I knew what sort of foods triggered me!

PopGoesBang · 05/05/2022 08:12

@KCat82 @netflixandnochill thank you! First test was good. 5.9 on the results which is high for where they want me to be, but first day and Altho I was mindful yesterday it's not quite the same.
I shall start a food diary too. Seems sensible to do that.

CoalCraft · 05/05/2022 10:35

Sorry to all those with suspected and confirmed GD, but glad that it's been caught for all of you and hopefully can now be managed xx

24+5 here and starting to feel the physical strain more. I've often got sore ligaments and have to take care with things like how I roll over or get up in bed in case I pull something 🤦

Otherwise feeling okay - am in a lull between DD's nursery germs so enjoying being the healthiest I've been for a while. No excessive tiredness yet (much better than first trimester!) and honestly can't even say I'm needing to wee that much more than normal. My main thing is I'm just so hungry all the time! My body seems to have gotten used to the extra progesterone in the pessaries now, though practically I'm still finding them a bit grim.

Not too much longer now ladies, just three months or so!

SquigsC · 05/05/2022 11:46

Hello all!

Thanks so much for your advice about car seats - we have a friend who has offered hers or we will just buy a brand new one - we will probably end up using it more than we realise!

Also for all those diagnosed with GD, I hope you're getting lots of support and love. And for those with upcoming tests, the drink really isn't that bad!

I am now 27 weeks and am starting to get anxious about time. It's going to fly by now isn't it? I am starting to feel really out of breath, which can be a problem if I am in a small shop with my mask on. I am also struggling with drinking - I am thirsty but if I drink too much I get water bloat, like it's sat on top of my diaphragm. Also a nap is compulsory every day.

Have people booked antenatal classes? I started panicking as my midwide hasn't mentioned them, but I am coming up to third trimester. Luckily, I have been speaking to a wonderful worker at a local children's centre.

WHO ELSE IS PANICKING?

Mufflette · 05/05/2022 12:47

Sorry to hear all the GD diagnoses! Hope you all have big plans for amazing post-birth meals, especially @PopGoesBang with the HG double whammy.

24+6 here and I'm feeling good, not too tired or uncomfortable but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I'm not doing much! I've been told no prolonged standing since having my cervical stitch so it's short walks and yoga only. I do seem to have the biggest chocolate cravings ever though.

@SquigsC I think our antenatal classes are still online so I'm hoping I can just do the recorded ones. My pregnancy yoga class is super informative and I've started reading just about every book about birth I can find so feel like I know a lot of the stuff covered in the early classes already. Not panicking as such but keep having moments of realisation that I actually have to give birth and look after a baby and it's getting a lot closer!

Unknown6 · 05/05/2022 12:51

@SquigsC , my midwife suggested I book some groups at 16 weeks so I booked nct, I'm also thinking about pregnancy yoga from week 30 ish.
I'm 27 weeks today and it panicked me when it said baby was the size of a cauliflower already haha!

I have the thirst problem too and breathlessness has been a pain for me throughout, I'm thinking I might have to stop wearing mask soon, but I'm scared of covid now I'm nearly in 3rd trimester.

CoalCraft · 05/05/2022 13:04

@SquigsC I think the advice if you plan on doing antenatal classes is to book them early as there can be a lot of demand. My first pregnancy was during the height of lockdown so all the courses were online, but I started doing them around 30 weeks I think? I must say the ones I did weren't great - I found the language and recommended activities a bit patronising - but as DD was born at 33 weeks I only got through the labour and birth ones!

As for panic, it's definitely there lurking at the back of my mind lol. Gotta keep myself busy and not think too much about what two under two is going to be like 🤣

Celyn22 · 05/05/2022 16:15

Hey ladies! Have you heard of Ina May Gaskin and the Birth Farm? It's been mentioned to me by a few women now and I started watching interviews with her online, and she is so awesome! She shares such amazing information from her studies and midwifery practice from the past few decades, talking lots about oxytocin helping speed up labour etc. I'll post any particularly good ones I see BiscuitSmile

23+1 today... sharing symptoms of breathlessness

Celyn22 · 05/05/2022 16:16

...whoops! Didn't mean to press post!

Breathlessness and the water bloat issue! It's challenging to keep hydrated when it feels like the water sits in a reservoir in my throat and chest!

Cakecakecheese · 05/05/2022 17:27

We booked NCT classes months ago because there's very little of any kind of class where I live so it gets booked up quick.

Mufflette · 05/05/2022 17:54

@Celyn22 yes, I'm reading the Positive Birth Book and she was mentioned in there - I definitely want to find out more so will have a look for the videos!

mamaof2girls · 05/05/2022 19:58

Hope all is well I lost the thread for awhile didn't realise my app wasn't working proper and couldn't comment or get on the thread. 24 weeks tomorrow and starting to feel and look a lot more pregnant and little one is so much more active and can feel it more and more. Anyone else don't know the gender? D

netflixandnochill · 05/05/2022 21:33

@mamaof2girls We’re having a girl 💖

mamaof2girls · 06/05/2022 09:15

@netflixandnochill aww that's lovely. Have yous thought off any names or that? We don't know gender and I really don't know about names we have barely looked! X

netflixandnochill · 06/05/2022 11:21

@mamaof2girls We’ve decided on Emma 😍 (but aren’t telling family and friends until she’s here) We were just running through names and saying no to each others suggestions(!) then Emma came up and we loved it.

mamaof2girls · 06/05/2022 11:28

@netflixandnochill aww Emma is such a cute name. Am not to sure if it's cause this is our 3rd but we are so chilled this time am 24 weeks and not really bought or sorted anything I do have a lot off the bigger stuff anyway but at this point I had my other kids names picked etc so don't know if that's why am feeling unorganised so far haha! X

Beth262 · 06/05/2022 13:15

@mamaof2girls so nice to see you back 🥰

@netflixandnochill Emma is a lovely name x

😆did maternity leave paperwork this week and it hit me there's not long to go until baby.

Panicking mostly about wanting to finish most of the upstairs before baby is here, and increasing tiredness. Today and yesterday were spent painting and more painting and painting prep on the agenda tomorrow.

PopGoesBang · 07/05/2022 19:07

@squatternutbosh12 sorry to hear the sickness is bad - glad you are getting the fluids and hopefully they are looking after you.

@ToCaden decorating/renovation and growing a human. I've dodged the painting this weekend and been in a more supervisor role! Carpet going down in the bed room in 6 days and then the wardrobes can be built and I can stop wondering where things are. We're also having a new combo boiler in, the night storage heaters removed and central heating out in - we're out sourcing this but the date keeps getting pushed back and I'm slightly worried I'll be having the baby and having pipe work done at home at the same time.

CoalCraft · 07/05/2022 19:15

Had a lovely day at the zoo today but I gotta say I was starting to feel the tiredness after just three hours! I normally have pretty good stamina for walking so it's definitely a sign that pregnancy is slowing me down.

squatternutbosh12 · 07/05/2022 19:18

@netflixandnochill Emma is a beautiful name, that was on our shortlist if we were having a girl!

Has anyone else settled on a name or even narrowed it down to a few? What are you going for?

netflixandnochill · 07/05/2022 20:06

Thanks @mamaof2girls @Beth262 & @squatternutbosh12 🥰

Got my GTT results today - was close but I’ve managed to dodge GD! I’m pleased although it’s been a bit of a wake up call and I’ve decided to make some better diet choices for the rest of the pregnancy!

Still got my growth scans as she’s big, hoping they can give me some reassurance as to why. Counting down the weeks until she’s here, I can’t wait.

Echoing @squatternutbosh12’s last post. Would love to know everyone’s names or shortlists!
