New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

@Shelly1812 i think cloth nappies might be the only thing I'm definitely fully stocked up on. There was a deal so bought a load a few weeks back.

Agree with those saying time has zoomed. I've just passed the 24 weeks mark and it's incredible to think that if he came now he'd have a good chance surviving. Plus I could potentially start maternity leave in only six weeks. I plan to keep working for as long as I can, but know I'm going to get tempted to pack it in once I reach that stage.

24 week midwife appointment on Wednesday. Anything special about that appointment, or is it much of the same?

I've been painting ceilings this weekend. Keep needing to take breaks, but getting through it. Still have that buzzing 'must get the house sorted' feeling. Though it is curbed a bit by 'my back aches, please lie down' feelings. Trying to get a balance.

CoalCraft · 24/04/2022 14:52

Had the letter through about my 32 week consultant appointment, so that's good, but still nothing about my 28 week scan. Why are they so bad at communicating!

All well here though. Well, poor DD has a tummy bug, which is no fun, but all well regarding the pregnancy! 23+1.

squatternutbosh12 · 24/04/2022 17:23

I’ve added a giant bleeding haemorrhoid to my collection of glamorous pregnancy ailments - joy

just spent half an hour in the bathroom vomiting from one end and bleeding from the other - I’m actually a mess 😫

In less TMI news, I’ve discovered a new bizarre food love - twiglets with ketchup. I know it sounds gross and it probably is but it was exactly the flavour combination I was craving at the time and boy was it satisfying 🤣

I hope everyone’s having a lovely Sunday x

PopGoesBang · 24/04/2022 17:47

@CoalCraft hope the tummy bug passes quickly! My dd woke up late Thursday evening and proceeded to have a bad few hours of sickness and then seemed to sleep it off. Fingers crossed you hear about the 28 week scan soon.

@squatternutbosh12 pregnancy is the joy that keeps on giving isn't it?! Hope you have a less bodily fluid filled evening!
Twiglets and ketchup - oddly doesn't sound as wrong as I feel it should!

I'm 25 weeks today. And just feel uncomfy. Can't sit comfy on the sofa and just end up fidgeting. And I was a massive fidget before but everyone moans at me now.

Dp kindly pointed out today there's some pregnant ladies who just seem to glide thru and have a real glow and take it in their stride (before he finished this statement I knew where it was going!) and then there are ones like me - pale, sore, being sick every 5 minutes and just struggle.
It's ok, he's still alive, luckily today wasn't an over emotional day and I could agree with him and see where he was coming from. I certainly don't feel a pregnancy glow. And the exhaustion is another level - it'll all be worth it.

squatternutbosh12 · 24/04/2022 17:55

Ohhh @PopGoesBang that would have touched a nerve for me too 🤣
I have also been lamenting my lack of similarity to those who ‘glide’ through pregnancy. Glad he is still in one piece 😉
Sorry you’re also being sick all the time. It’s rubbish isn’t it- can feel really debilitating on a bad day. Just consoling myself that there’s only 15 weeks to go. But then in the same breath telling myself off for ‘wishing it away’!!

PopGoesBang · 24/04/2022 18:27

@squatternutbosh12 He has a real way with words! Sails close to the bone some days - the reference to a beach ball got a look and he stopped quickly 🤣 He does have his uses, this saves him a lot.
The sickness is so draining, makes the 'good' days hard as you feel you should be doing more but actually it's more a recovery day with one less thing to deal with.
You're right, the majority is done and the end is in sight - and here's blindly hoping there are more good days than not.

Isonthecase · 24/04/2022 20:36

@PopGoesBang they can be such charmers 😂

Anyone getting really uncomfortable, I have invested in a support top from JoJo man Bebe and dug out the pregnancy pillow. BLISS. I highly recommend just chucking money at it while we will still have 4 months use of them.

PopGoesBang · 24/04/2022 20:39

@Isonthecase One way of describing them!
I'm super uncomfortable too. Might have to get the pregnancy pillow out and see if that helps.
Support top sounds interesting too, I shall do some research!

Ems2208 · 25/04/2022 10:42

Hope you mumma to be’s are all
well. 23 weeks tomorrow with an anterior placenta. I felt the bubble/popping movement feeling a few weeks black but nothing lately. I have heard an anterior placenta cushions movements but just wondering if anyone is the same as starting to worry x

PopGoesBang · 25/04/2022 11:43

@Ems2208 I had an anterior placenta last time and compared to this time I suddenly realise how minimal I felt things.
I know some other ladies currently have the same so I'm sure they will come along with how they are finding it now.
It really does act as a cushion. As baby grows you'll feel a bit more. And as always if you're ever worried contact your midwife/midwife team and I am sure they'll be able to reassure/monitor you - I had a lot of monitoring with Dd.

squatternutbosh12 · 25/04/2022 12:34

@Ems2208 hi, I have an anterior placenta (24+3 now) and I had a similar stop-start experience with the early first movements, I started feeling some bubbling/squirming feelings for a week or so and then it tailed off, before starting again properly 1-2 weeks later as proper movements which the gradually got stronger. I’m consistently feeling kicks now but there was definitely a time when I kept wondering if they were even really movements because they kept stopping! You can always ask your midwife to check things if you’re worried- they really don’t mind! X

Cakecakecheese · 25/04/2022 13:15

I'm 24 weeks with anterior placenta and was starting to worry a bit but I am starting to feel movements now. My friend is due next month and she's barely felt anything as her placenta managed to cover the entire baby but she's had regular checks and scans and the baby is absolutely fine.

Hi, I've got an anterior placenta (22 + 4), some days I can fell lots of movement and other days not much, it just depends on how the baby is lying. He was breach and the day he turned I had tonnes of movement!! Went for another scan the next day and they're he's moved round! Past 2 days he's been quieter but still the odd pop and kick here and there. Hopefully as they let get bigger we'll feel more x

Isonthecase · 25/04/2022 15:11

@PopGoesBang I was getting really sore around my pelvis and the support top meant I could spend a few hours on my feet without being incredibly stiff the next day. Would definitely recommend them if you're suffering similarly.

Gem2811 · 25/04/2022 16:03

Just a quick question what heart rate would be considered too high just recently I have had a resting heart rate of over 100 and just not sure if I should be concerned or not?

Beth262 · 25/04/2022 16:45

@Gem2811 I just looked in my notes and my heart rate at my appointment Friday was 122. Consultant didn't seem concerned so hope this reassures you a little.

I will be 26 weeks on Wednesday, still not feeling much movement just bubbles really hate having an anterior placenter. Not sure if I should go and get checked or not I don't want to waste their time if everything is okay.

madeleine85 · 25/04/2022 17:56

Thanks everyone, the anterior placenta group is making me feel much better. I'm 22 weeks and have one, and have barely felt a thing. Occasionally i'll have days where I can feel pops down low, or up high, but then nothing for days. This morning I felt belly pressure, kind of like an eel or something turning over in my belly, which I assume was the baby, but very much not feeling kicks. Not helped that I went to a small animal zoo at the weekend with my toddler to let her feed some apparently very hungry goats which went crazy at the sight of the goat feed and decided to use my belly as a place for their little goat hooves while trying to get closer to the food. Hoping that the placenta placement doubles as a goat protector :). Not doing that one again! I have a checkup this Thursday, then I guess i'll be back to once a month for a while which will be strange, as i've been every 2 weeks since the start, but now the cervix measurement put me back as low risk, I think the extra scans will be cancelled which will feel a bit odd.

Gem2811 · 25/04/2022 18:41

@Beth262 thank you that makes me feel better its sitting at the 115 mark so was just starting to get a bit concerned 😂

Unknown6 · 26/04/2022 08:13

Morning all,

How is everyone feeling?
Interested in the support tops everyone is mentioning. Where do you get them from?
Is anyone having a planned c-section? I have been considering it just because of how high my heart rate keeps getting upon a walk (I was admitted to hospital for it too back in march)
I just wondered at what stage you have your consultant appointment, I would at least like to have the discussion I think.
Thanks

Cakecakecheese · 26/04/2022 09:24

My consultant appointment is at 28 weeks

ToCaden · 26/04/2022 10:41

@Unknown6 my first consultant appointment will be at 28 weeks. I'll have at least three. One at 28, one at 30, and one at 32. I may end up having a planned c section due to a placenta placement issue, but will only decide this after a scan at 34 weeks to see if it's in a better position by then.

Also interested in the support tops. Found a few on Amazon and debating whether to get one.

Anyone starting to have days where it feels like you're carrying a 10/15kg sack everywhere and moving is so much work? Having one of those days today.

Also starting to have days when I'm violently sick, but only when it's triggered. A night of zero sleep tends to lead to a day of vomiting, and had an episode after a really strong solvent smell, and car rides longer than around half an hour. Weird as didn't have much in way of vomiting during first trimester.
