@Unknown6 my first consultant appointment will be at 28 weeks. I'll have at least three. One at 28, one at 30, and one at 32. I may end up having a planned c section due to a placenta placement issue, but will only decide this after a scan at 34 weeks to see if it's in a better position by then.

Also interested in the support tops. Found a few on Amazon and debating whether to get one.

Anyone starting to have days where it feels like you're carrying a 10/15kg sack everywhere and moving is so much work? Having one of those days today.

Also starting to have days when I'm violently sick, but only when it's triggered. A night of zero sleep tends to lead to a day of vomiting, and had an episode after a really strong solvent smell, and car rides longer than around half an hour. Weird as didn't have much in way of vomiting during first trimester.

Wow. How did that happen???

PopGoesBang · 26/04/2022 11:11

@ToCaden I'd say it's a glitch since the platform was updated.

I'm looking at the support vests too. Haven't yet purchased but @Isonthecase I believe for hers from JoJo Maman Bebe, if I remember rightly.

Yesterday was also a day where standing to prep and cook tea finished me off. My cankles were in full form and I was just done.

Also the weeing at night. I'm not a big fluid in taker at the best of times, but 6 wees over night is ridiculous, I'm not a fan!

Unknown6 · 26/04/2022 11:59

@ToCaden,
My placenta is also low, but I haven't been told about a consultant appointment...was told it would be checked at my next scan at 36 weeks, but that's no good if baby arrives early. I'm starting to feel I should now have extra appointments...I do have a consultant appointment but for my fast heart rate at 30 weeks, so maybe I should see if I can have the discussion then.
Keep me updated on tops discussion!

Also vomiting on odd days! Feels more violent than first trimester but not everyday. Also have that heavy feeling.

The consultant appointments are due to this being an IVF baby. To check he's growing alright I think. Though imagine I might have some for placenta issue after scan if it hasn't improved.

Good idea though for you to ask what might happen re placenta issue if yours appears earlier than your 36 week scan. Hopefully they have a plan in place to make you feel better about it all

RP90 · 26/04/2022 13:29

I've got my first consultant appointment at 24 weeks to have the initial discussion about birth options. My DS was breech so we had a planned section last time. I've no idea how I see this birth going.

I had a midwife appointment this morning which was good, got to hear babies heart beat.

I keep getting told about the potential for my scar to rupture if I got for a vaginal birth, has anyone else had this conversation with their midwife?

SquigsC · 26/04/2022 13:43

madeleine85 · 21/04/2022 17:52

@Beth262 good luck for the checkup omorrow. Hopefully they can just measure your cervix, and put your mind at rest. At least if they do a detailed check, they can see if it is fully closed, and a decent length, which personally I found very reassuring.

@SquigsC where I am they give the GD tests at 12 and 24 weeks as standard, so i'm already one down, next one coming. I hate the sugary drink, it is disgusting, and i'm buzzing for hours after. Down it as fast as you can, and bring something good to read. At least the results usually come quick (next day for me). Fingers crossed for no GD and no giant babies for anyone here :)

Oh wow! I didn't realise some places do them as standard @madeleine85! Thank you for the head's up - particularly regarding the results.

I had my GD test today! Luckily I didn't mind the sugary drink too much (but perhaps because I expected it to be SO bad) and I read my book for two hours. Roll on tomorrow for the results!

squatternutbosh12 · 26/04/2022 20:16

@Unknown6 I’d say ask your midwife ASAP for a consultant appt to discuss birth method if you’re thinking of a c section! It’ll almost certainly be fine but I’m aware some places takes longer than others to arrange these appointments so worth getting on it sooner than later.

@SquigsC & @madeleine85 good luck for your GD test/results!
I got my results today and thankfully normal!

I’ve ended up in hospital this evening for IV fluids and antiemetics so that’s not fun, but hopefully will help me feel less crap!

madeleine85 · 26/04/2022 20:31

@squatternutbosh12 yay for your lack of GD! Hope you are feeling ok though, that sounds rotten to have to get an IV. Every day I keep telling myself only 3-4 months left!

Isonthecase · 26/04/2022 20:48

@PopGoesBang yep, JoJo man Bebe. They had black and white ones, I like it so much I'm considering another one (or 5, ha). I spent weeks looking at bump bands online and couldn't decide but they let me try them on.

@ToCaden I've found a lot of sickness is worse when tired or stressed. Not that it helps prevent it but sometimes it's easier to manage when you can pin it on something 🙂

PopGoesBang · 27/04/2022 04:22

@squatternutbosh12 hope the fluids and hopefully stronger anti sickness meds are making you feel like a new woman. It's horrible getting to that point but I truly hope they are helping.

@Isonthecase it's great to have found something that helps so much. I'd definitely consider purchasing more if I were you!

Congratulations @squatternutbosh12 on avoiding GD! But I am so sorry to hear you're in the hospital for the evening. Are you feeling any less rubbish?

Tacoboutit · 27/04/2022 09:54

Hi ladies, for those who have been pregnant before, when did you start feeling rough towards later pregnancy? I.e aches/pains/fatigue. Did anyone’s morning sickness come back? I’ve a lot on these next 6-7 weeks (both in work and personal events) up until I’m 32 weeks and wondering should I try and bow out of some things in advance. Currently 26 weeks and touch wood feeling ok (bar awful constipation and heartburn ❤️‍🔥) but this is nothing compared to the ladies here who are really sick, hope you all feel better soon x

CoalCraft · 27/04/2022 10:50

Bit of a funny day yesterday. Had a lot of rhythmic tightenings/contractions overnight so went into triage early in the morning. They did a fibronectin test (ouch) and an internal scan to look at the cervix and all was well - no waters leaking through and cervix long and tightly closed.

Unfortunately while I was there DD's tummy bug decided to reveal that it had gotten me too, so I was vomiting while I was there. Joy!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's anything they can give me to prevent the contractions, but they've prescribed a progesterone pessary to try and keep the cervix in good condition.

Otherwise I just need to keep an eye on it and return if it happens again. Thankfully no repeat last night.

@Tacoboutit I only made it to 33 weeks last time but honestly I felt fine up til then. I'd avoid doing anything physically strenuous from about 28 weeks+ but otherwise you should be okay

I think it's so specific to each woman! I've already started with round ligament pain so I can't walk far but others won't get that to later if at all! I do remember being 28 weeks snd having pain in my bump so severe that I thought I was in labour. I couldn't walk or barely move. I definitely couldn't have done anything stressful or even a bit physical at that stage. But you might sail through! I'm short, I don't think that helps haha every thing more squished up together!

I'd see how you get on and decide on each thing closer to this time if that's an option x

PopGoesBang · 27/04/2022 11:47

@CoalCraft Crikey! What a day. Glad all is ok and hope the tummy bug has eased off and you are generally feeling better.

@Tacoboutit as pp have said, see how you go. Last time I very much carried in with things as normal, should I have done? Maybe not. But this time I certainly plan on seeing how I go and making decisions along the way. And make sure I take some time out to just be. You definitely miss that with a small baby!

Mufflette · 27/04/2022 12:59

@squatternutbosh12 @CoalCraft how rubbish, I hope you're both feeling much better soon!

I'm 23+5 and suddenly feeling massive and slow, can't believe there's still months to go! I think it's definitely time to test out support items.

SquigsC · 27/04/2022 13:20

I just had my results from my GD and I am a negative! One less thing to worry about in this madness they call pregnancy. 😅

ToCaden · 27/04/2022 16:35

When are people thinking of taking maternity leave? I was in the work until Labor group, but things are getting harder and there's so much I want to get done on the house before baby. I'm also an introvert so I know a bit of me time does wonders for reducing stress levels, which could help prebirth.

So now I'm thinking of taking it early, but that would mean a bit less time with baby, but also really want time with just me sorting the house. Decisions!

PopGoesBang · 27/04/2022 17:17

Good news @SquigsC and like you say one less thing to worry about!

@ToCaden my rough plan currently and only because I'm working from home and it's quite flexible. Is to take 2 weeks a/l in July and then start maternity leave when summer holidays start. So I think that's holiday at 36 weeks and maternity at 38.
Depending on how things go this may change! But I want as much time after as I can.
Watch this space and see how baby changes all the plans!

We're currently renovating our bedroom and need a new boiler which means it's probably the time to switch to central heating rather than night storage 🙈 I have put a no additional work rule in place for July, I want to feel as settled as possible before baby - even tho I think that means just floorboards down stairs and the spare room not nursery ready. But that's ok...

I'm lucky in the sense that I'm a teacher so will be going until the end of the last term in July, I think we finish on 21st. And then I'm on summer holidays so my MAT leave will start from due date (13th August). I would have probably tried to go as long as I could otherwise ... most likely I would have tried to get until 38 weeks.. depending on how I felt 😂, 36 weeks if I was struggling though I think.

Beth262 · 27/04/2022 19:22

@ToCaden My plan is to start maternity leave on 1 August (due on 8th) but to take 2 weeks annual leave before that so finish at 37 weeks. I wfh so can nap during the day if need be before that point! 😆

Mufflette · 27/04/2022 20:14

@ToCaden at the moment I'm planning to have 2 weeks annual leave and start maternity leave on the Monday of the week my due date is the Friday of. I can also work from home so definitely expect to be doing more of that as time goes on!

Beth262 · 28/04/2022 16:14

Has tiredness hit anyone else like a ton of bricks again? Had to take yesterday off work just to sleep and rest. Dread to think what I'm going to be like in another 15 weeks 😩
