PrettyTulip · 26/03/2022 03:26

OMG @nicc1000 what a huge decision you've had to make, & how very strong you are to have to actually make that choice. Cannot imagine how you're both feeling right now; sending a huge virtual hug xx

So I'm sure we'll all be having 20w scans soon, mine is when I'm 20+5 on Wed 27 April. I know that's ages away but I'm starting to freak out what something will be wrong. I had the nipt and all was OK but I'm 39, overweight with a history of pcos and endometriosis. How is everyone else feeling about their impending 20w scan?

At my 12w the sonographer spent ages trying to look at something on the baby but the baby wouldn't move (sonographer also had a very heavy accent and we couldn't really understand her when we asked what she was looking at). She said all was OK but I'm an anxious person

EverydayIsPJday · 27/03/2022 18:42

Hi @Carebear99 I know how you feel. The 12w scan is a relief but the 20w scan feels like the biggy as they look at so much more. I am also overweight and anxious about that. My 12w report says something like 'limited visibility due to subobtimal something (which I know meant my hippo size)' so I did wonder if they could've missed something. just have to try to stay positive until we have reason not to don't we?. I can feel flutters now which is atleast reassuring.

Hope you are ok x

EverydayIsPJday · 27/03/2022 18:44

I keep forgetting they found an ovarian cyst on my scan too. They said they're usually gone at 12 weeks if it's come about due to ovulation but my scan was at 12+6 🤔 she didn't seem too bothered but I was a bit freaked out seeing the big void on the screen.

madeleine85 · 27/03/2022 18:45

@Carebear99 sorry you are getting nervous about the 20 weeks scan, but it is totally understandable. I too feel like so much hinges on it. Plus its around that time that things (at least to me) become real as you approach the 25 week viability mark. On the plus side, we are almost there. My 20 week scan (which is really at 21 weeks) is April 18, and i'm also nervous. Not helped either that here I can't have my husband at any appointments except the 12 and 20 week scans, so it feels like a very big milestone/somehow like there is pressure on me, even thoguh I can't change the outcome of this. Meanwhile I had one day a few weeks ago of kicks and i've felt nothing since, and i'm like "is he even in there still"?! I did feel like I had a massive hormone burst this week though I think. I am 17-18 weeks right now, and i've had weird nipple feelings/sore boobs, my skin started getting bad again, heartburn is really bad, and i'm exhausted. Is anyone else noticing changes?

madeleine85 · 27/03/2022 18:45

Oh and happy UK mother's day everyone/mums to be day :)

Em85kk · 27/03/2022 19:10

Hi all. Had my gender scan today and we’re having a little boy! So nice to see baby again even though he wasn’t playing ball. My little girl was very upset she’s not getting a sister but I think we’ve talked her round now and she’s excited. She’s gone to bed with the blue teddy and keeps pressing to hear it’s heartbeat.

@Carebear99 yep! Even though I’ve just had a scan, give it a week and I’ll be nervous about the 20 week one. I just feel really heavy and a bit short of breath at times. I had terrible SPD/PGP with my first, but so far so good. Probably because I expanded so much during my first pregnancy and it’s never gone back!

Happy Mother’s Day to all 😊 I got a card from my daughter and another from bump which was very cute!

Celyn22 · 27/03/2022 19:22

Hey @madeleine85, thanks for sharing! I’m 17+4 today. I have been feeling a bit more energetic the past couple of weeks but the last 3 days I’ve crashed out at 7pm! My nipples were pretty itchy till a few days ago and luckily that’s stopped now, although I have noticed the skin on my nipples looks like it’s cracking and flaking a little bit... it’s only when I look really close - which I have today! Anyone else finding this??

I’ve been battling constipation throughout the pregnancy, till today, when I couldn’t be far from the toilet! I haven’t had diarrhoea like that since... I don’t know when! A long time. I’m sure all is well but I do feel a bit run down generally.

Sending soothing love to all the tender boobs out there!

ShiningStarz · 27/03/2022 19:55

@Carebear99 I feel the same! I think anyone saying they aren't anxious about the 20 week scan are lying!! I had a scan at 16 weeks and the consultant said there's nothing more to see than the 12 week one and there won't be much more to really see until at least 19 weeks. A lot of development and growth happens between 16-19 weeks. I don't think weight has any issue, I too have endo and again no issues. It's hard not to worry. I just tell myself all will be fine 😊😊

annlee3817 · 27/03/2022 20:17

Congrats @Em85kk

@Carebear99 normal to be anxious about the anomaly scan, mine is on April 12th and have asked DH to get the time off work, I'm not fussed about him coming to my consultant appointments, but definitely want him at that one just in case. I've held off telling anymore people until then.

@madeleine85 is it 25 weeks in the US? Here it's 24 weeks it's considered viable, I'm in count down to that too

stimpyyouidiot · 27/03/2022 21:08

Got my 20 week on 20th April. Cannot wait to find out all is ok and the sex. Had a hugely tiring weekend so hoping to rest tonight.

madeleine85 · 27/03/2022 22:26

@annlee3817 you’re probably right with 24 weeks. I just had a random recollection of the mid 20s as the safe spot

MOLWI · 27/03/2022 23:04

@Carebear99 I'm feeling super anxious too!

I think at this stage I'm just feeling worried because most of my symptoms seem to have gone and I'm not feeling movement yet. Which I know is normal but just can't help but worry!! Just so looking forward to being able to feel movement so I know everything is ok.

Also have my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow where hopefully I'll hear the heartbeat and I think that'll put my mind at ease too.

Just feels like so long since the last scan I just feel like I need to see the baby again to fully relax 😅

Carebear99 · 28/03/2022 03:58

Thank you so much everyone, it's horrible to be anxious but it's comforting knowing I'm not the only one and these feelings are normal

mol2mum · 28/03/2022 08:16

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well! We had our gender scan at the weekend and found out that we're having a little girl!Grin

Due September 2022 (Thread 5!)
EverydayIsPJday · 28/03/2022 09:06

Congratulations @mol2mum 💜

ShiningStarz · 28/03/2022 09:10

Awwww congrats @mol2mum !! We aren't finding out, it'll just have to sit patiently for the next 5 months !!!

TotoAnnihiliation · 28/03/2022 09:21

Another one joining in the anxiety. I'm fairly sure I felt movement yesterday but I'm only just coming up to 15 weeks. It feels too early and today there has been a big fat nothing which doesn't help the anxiety.

annlee3817 · 28/03/2022 09:26

Congratulations @mol2mum
