Meant to tag you! @annlee3817

Sweetbabydust1989 · 12/04/2022 11:54

@IzzyLeigh thanks lovely yes we are all much looking forward to the new addition but I still haven't forgot my little angels massive age gap between my boys and this little one eldest is nearly 11 and youngest is nearly 9 I feel like a first time mum again so much has changed. We had a sex scan at 16 weeks and 5 days and found out this one is a little girl but I am so scared they might be wrong even though I couldn't see any manhood at all lol. I have my 20 week scan at the end of the month 2 days off me being 20 weeks as they couldn't fit me in fully booked up for 5 weeks.. how's things going with you xx

LittlemissMama67 · 12/04/2022 11:57

When I had my sex scan the other day they sent me to empty my bladder before saying what the sex was but I could see before going to the toilet there was nothing between the legs. I think with a girl it’s fairly obvious

Sweetbabydust1989 · 12/04/2022 12:18

@LittlemissMama67 oh yes my boys were not shy on showing their manhood at all they had their bums to the screen 😂 this one cooperated very well she is so good when it comes to scans. I did start my own thread and got slated so I took it down I only wanted a comparison 🙈 it's very flat and so sign off a anything at all xx

veryberrie · 12/04/2022 12:30

I've got my private gender scan later on tonight, I've not been this excited in a long time. Blush

amorningperson · 12/04/2022 12:31

@veryberrie WE had a private scan and the ultrasonographer took ages trying to get baby in right position and even said we could come back later (for free!) if they couldn't do it! So hopefully that will be same experience for you! Enjoy :)

@Sweetbabydust1989 welcome!!! :) Sounds like you've had a really tough couple of years,, but how exciting for your rainbow baby!!! Congratulations Flowers

@IzzyLeigh I had this happen a few weeks ago after my son had tough week and started refusing to walk, meaning I carried him a lot. Didn't feel anything 'go' in the hand but at night I would get this numbness - turns out it was a pinched nerve in my shoulder from side sleeping. I got a supportive neck pillow and did some stretching/nerve flossing videos on YouTube and it went away. Hope that helps!

@madeleine85 lovely photo! Def a bump there and looove your dog, he/she looks like my dog who will crowd me constantly and I don't even realise until a photo is taken of me or a go to look in the mirror and there she is behind me haha. So cute! Just reading your two latest posts, that sounds soooooo difficult. Also sounds like you are blaming yourself for putting your family through a NICU experience and that's so harsh. An eating disorder is not your fault!!! You didn't subject your family to that. Sounds like a huge burden to bare and so difficult to work through. I've had a lot of comparing between situations in my first pregnancy too, I think it's normal to get a bit 'triggered' by the pregnancy especially if you experience trauma in your previous one. Also wanted to say that I get cramps after sex too and I googled them and seems normal? Though no migraine though migraines are known to be hormonally triggered, and so are panic attacks/mood swings. I had a day the other day where I lay in bed convinced that I was such a bad mother that I was going to ruin my life, my DC's and DH's life by having another baby... I think it's normal for us to fluctuate in feelings especially if you're anxiety prone (possible, as EDs are associated with anxiety right?)

Anyways I hope you are feeling better this morning and keep posting about it here if that helps!!!

Sweetbabydust1989 · 12/04/2022 12:34

@amorningperson thanks lovely yes last year was horrible 2 ectopics in one year was literally not something I would wish on my worse enemy but it does make you realise a lot. My boys are so looking forward to welcoming baby they're desperate to start shopping but I was like not for a couple more months x

annlee3817 · 12/04/2022 12:54

@stimpyyouidiot ah that sounds like a nightmare, and a ridiculous reaction to a middle name. We've refused to use family names for this reason, MIL still tried to find a faint connection in her family tree with the one we chose for DD 🙄 really annoyed me

LittlemissMama67 · 12/04/2022 13:14

I actually love my MIL she’s amazing but when we told her the name of the baby she automatically said it with her first and middle name as the 2 middle names and we were like 🥺😬 awkward no. She has a typical 60’s/70’s style name think along the lines of Karen/ Denise/ Deborah I can’t get on board with those im afraid. Both of our girls have they’re great grandmas names in their names. Because they honour a family meme but also because the 40’s/50’s names are cuter IMO think Rose/ May/ Elizabeth

stimpyyouidiot · 12/04/2022 14:37

It was a nightmare. Not what I needed so soon after birth! I would never have a go at someone over what they'd called their kid. Also my family names are TERRIBLE and they don't even like their own names. And by their behaviour over several things, they won't be getting a name either 🤣

Carebear99 · 12/04/2022 15:16

Awww love those names @LittlemissMama67. My first born is called Elizabeth and I'm going to call this one Alexandra (I think)

Celyn22 · 12/04/2022 15:17

@annlee3817 aww what a beautiful scan pic! I can definitely see a smile there. So so sweet! Thank you for sharing. I am a day behind you - I am 20 weeks tomorrow :)

@carebear99 I am now due 31st Aug. Was originally 2nd Sept but it changed. I had the 20 week scan at 19 weeks. I get cramps every few days but I’m trusting that they are growing pains /round ligament. It seems super normal to feel the aches and cramps, try not to worry if possible. I heard some cringey (but helpful) affirmations for pains - it was in reference to labour, but it would work for cramps too... “thank you to my body for stretching and growing to accommodate my precious baby, thank you body for knowing what to do, each pain brings me closer to holding my baby in my arms” ...something along those lines!

@littlemissmama67 I am the same... I’ve had one appointment (16 week) and next one isn’t till late June. I do prefer it this way but it’s not preferable for everyone. Maybe you can phone to book another?

@Belle2210 ah that’s awkward! I was asked at the 20 week scan if we wanted to know (which we did) and I saw in my folder they put a piece of paper saying that the gender was not definitive, and a guess, and it didn’t say anywhere what they’d found (a willy!) maybe you can sweet talk them into writing it down, acknowledging that they may not know for definite. Good luck!

@stimpyyouidiot I’m so sorry to read about your family’s reaction to the names of your first born! That really can’t of been helpful! I hope they’ll be more supportive this time and maybe they learned their lessons!

@veryberrie exciting! Have fun tonight!! I’ll be thinking of you :)

Regarding names... Celyn came to me immediately after I found out I was pregnant, and thought that could be bump’s name, although now I can’t imagine him being called anything else! I am staying open to something else coming up, and it’s fun exploring names with my partner but nothing else has felt right yet. Ooh I’m so excited to meet him and hold him in my arms!!

madeleine85 · 12/04/2022 17:30

Thanks so much everyone for the kind words. Of course I woke up today feeling totally fine and like the clouds had lifted. I don't get migraines often but when I do, they make me incredibly thirsty, which I think might have been causing the cramps. Bodies are so weird! It was a upsetting day as when things went downhill in my last pregnancy, for some reason I would start having contractions every Monday like clockwork. It was bizarre. So yesterday I got the fear it was coming again. Hoping that the Friday consultant checkup will alleviate fears/tell me what I need to do, or more likely not do. I am assuming that there will be no more DTD for my DH/I, not that there has been much anyway, and probably less on the working out side if things are getting a bit weird already, and i'll probably have to start the progesterone.

@amorningperson thank you, and yes, the dog has to be in all pictures/is permanently attached to me in general. We are a bit codependent! I agree 100% on the anxiety side of things, and I hope that anyone suffering with that is doing ok/being able to take care of themselves. I considered meditation yesterday, which is not my personality type, but maybe could help in place of hard exercise, which is my usual outlet.

To everyone with 20 week scans (or scans in general), congratulations, and I love seeing all your little beans. @annlee3817 yay for reaching the half way mark! We are due date buddies, so I am right there with you. Feels so good to finally be 50% of the way there. I can't wait till a month from now where we hit the viability line too.

@LittlemissMama67 congratulations, and I love the name Orla. @IzzyLeigh Finley is such a good girl name! Just reading onto all the other names in the thread now, they are all so lovely!

@Sweetbabydust1989 welcome to the group :)

@stimpyyouidiot some people are just such idiots over names. You are picking a name that you like, not that matters/doesn't to others. Unless it has weird anti semitic connotations etc I don't see why anyone feels the need to say that they knew a Fred, and he was a tosser :). Stick with what you feel is right for your little one. My mum likes to comment on names as well. drives me mad. Unfortunately my DD calls the bump by his name, which I think will be Luke, so she has probably picked that up now. The only thing i've heard recommended is to take the initials and put them into google and make sure it doesn't spit out something truly weird, which i'd do, because why not. Still no success on a middle name here, but we have 18-20 more weeks (hopefully) to decide.

@Carebear99 I am due August 30, but tracked my ovulation and my real date in my head is more like September 2 so I joined this group before the doctor set it in stone, and you're all lovely, so i've stuck around!

stimpyyouidiot · 12/04/2022 17:37

I know. It was just awful, both of us liked each name, I couldn't believe I was having to justify our name choice to anyone else, and tell them we didn't pick the name because of said person etc. he just liked the name he picked, and I did mine! Nobody believed us. Said 'how do you think your mum feels???' I cried really hard.

Haha yes we did do the initials google thing! It came up with some random inoffensive company for dd. We will see about the new one when we decide on a name. When we find out the sex we will start to narrow names down.

annlee3817 · 12/04/2022 18:36

That's so harsh @stimpyyouidiot and particularly at a vulnerable time :( hope they're not like that this time round for you!

Glad you're feeling better @madeleine85 hopefully Friday will come round quickly. I do notice that I get more of the round ligament type pains when I haven't drank enough.

annlee3817 · 12/04/2022 18:42

@ShiningStarz sorry forgot to reply, umm a couple of screenshots attached, I have a sweet tooth, so not the best there, but I eat a lot of veg to try and balance it out

I'm a lot more guarded this time. I had a lot of batshit behaviour (mostly my mum) the first time around. We didn't tell anyone until we'd had a scan, we told family as soon as we found out last time and my mum went crazy trying to force me to yell extended family even though I had no idea everything would be ok yet.

She got angry when I said we wouldn't be telling anyone I was in labour (I think she thought I would ask her to be there like my sister did) so she walked around my house in silence slamming cupboard doors etc.

Carebear99 · 12/04/2022 18:44

I'm 18+4 and have been having restless itchy legs in the evenings, the nhs website says this can happen but usually around 27 weeks onwards. Anyone else have this? I get it ever evening around this time and have had it for a few weeks.

Carebear99 · 12/04/2022 18:51

@madeleine85 I hope Friday goes well and helps alleviate your worries

HaresHoping · 12/04/2022 19:06

I can't keep up with this thread, there's so much going on! It's lovely to see such lovely people supporting each other though!

Just wanted to say @stimpyyouidiot I'm so sorry your family have behaved so badly. Please know if anything like that happens this time around you have an army of supporters here waiting to hold your hand over the internet! Though it sounds like you are handling it all brilliantly. ❤️

TotoAnnihiliation · 12/04/2022 19:17

@Carebear99 I get restless legs in the night when I wake up at random times. I don't know how to make dewy comfortable to get back to sleep.

I've got an appointment with the midwife tomorrow morning. I hoping to hear the heartbeat.

TotoAnnihiliation · 12/04/2022 19:17

Not dewy - myself

Thank you lovely. Being a mum has toughened me up a lot haha, and also now I can recognise that I had PND, and it wasn't that everyone thought I was incompetent and I was useless. I'm much better prepared this time around!!

It's nice to have this group to talk to! X

IzzyLeigh · 12/04/2022 19:40

@Sweetbabydust1989 First-timer here Smile My due date is a little later in the month, so I’m at 16w 3d today but will have my anomaly scan at 18+4, so about 2 weeks more to wait. Super nervous about it. Also, I’m sure you’ve seen me complain in other posts, getting very impatient about my lack of much of a bump. Someday soon hopefully! And movement! Hopefully I get some movement soon! Anything to put my mind at ease that my little girl is okay in there Flowers

@veryberrie good luck tonight!

@amorningperson I think you meant to tag @peaula in your comment instead of me Wink

@stimpyyouidiot that’s awful and totally sounds like something my MIL would do. Lots of pressure on both sides to pick family names but I’ve told them both that we’re not going to do that. I just feel like it’ll lead to so much uncomfortable tension between the sides of the family when it comes to feeling slighted or imagining favoritism or whatever (not to mention I don’t really care for any of the names anyway). I’m so sorry you had to go through that.

@LittlemissMama67 ugh I keep having that reaction from people too. Not my MIL yet thankfully, but other people. I know most of them are joking when they add their names to my baby’s name, but it’s just uncomfortable. I never know what to say? I think I just laugh awkwardly and change the subject as fast as I can haha

@Celyn22 what’s the correct way to pronounce Celyn? I’ve never seen it before your username but I love the look of it!

@madeleine85 so glad you’re feeling better today! And I had never thought about plugging the initials into Google before. I’m definitely going to have to do that once we figure out her middle name. Also: love Luke!

@Carebear99 I’m not having restless legs but my skin, particularly on my thighs, has been itchy dry no matter how much hydration and moisturization I’m doing. It’s really getting bothersome. I know that’s not likely what you meant though but figured I’d put it out there anyway ha
