@ShiningStarz

Iv woke up with such a shitty headache. Think it's sinus. Totally out of the blue, I don't even have a cold! Would love a decongestant right now but will have to suck it up !!!
@ShiningStarz highly recommend this spray if you're suffering with sinus pain. It's suitable for use while pregnant, you can buy it from Amazon, boots and Superdrug

There's no real bump here. I just look fat! 18+3

@Celyn22 congrats on your 20 week scan being all well and fabulous news that you are having a little blue one, did you have a preference on the sex?
I would also be inclined to see your scan pic if you don't mind sharing! I have strong boy feelings but we won't find out for another 4 weeks at our gender reveal.

@BlueSky57 echoing what the rest of the girls said, absolutely disgusting the way that your midwife has dealt with your appointment. The first thing that my midwife focused on was mental health, what if you happened to be suffering and saw the meeting with your midwife as a chance to discuss? I'd be looking to switch midwife or even clinic if it was me, it's important to know that you have someone to speak with and open up to should you wish to do so.

ShiningStarz · 07/04/2022 09:20

Ohhhh thanks @Poppypip1

GlitteryGreen · 07/04/2022 09:36

@ShiningStarz I do swimming once a week and try to gym twice :)

Saw a lady swimming in my lane yesterday with a biiiiig bump, was looking at her hoping I can carry on for that long! She must have been nearly due.

ShiningStarz · 07/04/2022 09:56

@GlitteryGreen flip! Swimming has prob kept her in good condition! I will start! I even have a maternity swimming costume bought already !!
What do you do in the gym? Thanks!!

GlitteryGreen · 07/04/2022 10:03

@ShiningStarz Tbh I wasn't super sure what was OK in the gym as I find the advice on fitness/getting out of breath SO confusing, so at the moment I've just been doing an uphill walk on the treadmill (or a jog if I can be arsed), some cross-trainer, and the rowing machine.

From research though it seems like it's OK for us to do most things except stuff that involved twisting the midsection or impacting the belly, so maybe I'll try and introduce a bit more. I used to do squats with kettle bells and apparently that is still OK, so could go back to that.

@annlee3817 @Poppypip1*@ShiningStarz @madeleine85* @Tinadecember
Here is the scan pic... I hope it helps you identify yours! There isn’t a shot of his bits in this pic but we were shown on the ultrasound. I had no preference either way but my gut feeling right from when I found out I was pregnant was that he was a boy! On Tuesday I was looking up average length of babies head to heel and found out that boys tend to grow faster than girls, so I checked the 12 week scan measurements and discovered he was at the higher end of the average size, which suggested he was a boy. Interestingly the Chinese prediction thing said I would have a girl, so I guess it’s not totally accurate!

Sending best of luck and love to you and your babas!

@Celyn22 awwww what a lovely picture of your a baby he looks so content in there!
That's interesting you say about size. Is that on the scan pic? There are numbers down the side of my 12 weeks scan but I have no idea what they mean. Would love to work out of mine is measuring big. I'm convinced boy and the Chinese calendar said boy for me

Celyn22 · 07/04/2022 14:02

@Poppypip1 the numbers on the pic don’t make much sense to me either - I think they are more about the machine and it’s settings. I had a radiology print out in my green folder from the 12 week (and now 20 week) scan, which has the CRL (crown-rump-length) in mm. Compare that to the chart here: www.babycenter.com/pregnancy/your-body/growth-chart-fetal-length-and-weight-week-by-week_1290794

Obviously it’s all based on averages and so don’t take it as gospel but it satisfied my craving to do a little investigating! Enjoy SmileDaffodil

Tinadecember · 07/04/2022 14:58

I was also looking at my 12 week scan numbers, also couldn't see a CRL measurement but going to look on the report I was given when I get home from work tonight and investigate also haha!

Having a bit of a panic this afternoon and I know it's probably very normal leading up to the 20 week scan... So far all has been well and we are blessed with a healthy baby, I am freaking out about something being wrong at 20 weeks!! Haven't stopped thinking about it all day. Hoping that all of our 20 week scans show healthy and happy babies

IzzyLeigh · 07/04/2022 15:07

Love all the bump pics! So jealous of all of you! I will say though, I think I’m noticing a big difference today compared to yesterday. So weird how things seem to change suddenly like that on some days. And for all the ladies saying they just look fat instead of pregnant: no way! I can totally tell that all of you are pregnant. Seriously, if I saw any of you at a store in real life, I would definitely think pregnant and not just extra weight.
Somewhat related: Has anyone else noticed that their innie has started to become an outie? I know that it’s common later on in pregnancy, but mine has definitely been popping out more and more over the past week (even despite having a barely-there bump). It also feels weird/tender when lightly pressed upon. Anyone else get this before their bump popped?

@annlee3817 That is super reassuring to know that you were like me last time! Maybe next time around I’ll look like you instead of just feeling like I’ve eaten too much all the time haha

@BlueSky57 that is so frustrating about your midwife! I get it, she was busy, but that kind of impatience and curtness is absolutely unacceptable. I agree with what someone else said previously; definitely lodge a complaint.

@ShiningStarz so glad your scan went well! And yes, I’m the same with an anterior placenta. Very frustrating to have to be patient!

@Celyn22 congrats on your scan and on the news that you’re having a baby boy! Beautiful pic too!

Oh! Almost forgot! I got my bbhugme delivered yesterday! Like a lot of reactions I’ve read, it was rather disappointing when I opened the box and felt it for the first time. However, using it was an entirely different story. I’m so in love with it. As a strict stomach sleeper, I’ve had a really really hard time adjusting to the recommended side sleeping position, but the bbhugme helped so much last night! I woke up a few times to my husband trying to snuggle into it in his sleep and I had to swat him away haha

Really random question for you all, but I'm off on holiday in June and I need something to wear swimming. I absolutely hate my legs, they've turned into marshmallow like monsters in the last five years (thanks kids) and I cant find anything that would be suitable to cover me up abit. I appreciate people will say 'noone looks' etc but it really makes me feel paranoid so those little pants you get with a tankini are a no no, as are 99% of swimsuits. We're only going to centre parcs so not a beach holiday, just lounging about the pool. I would usually wear a swimdress but haven't found anything (with abit of length) for maternity without spending ££££ and I won't be wearing it again so it's abit of a waste. I realise I have a while to look but if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Failing that I may just have to buy a tankini top and some men's swimshorts! 😊

madeleine85 · 07/04/2022 15:31

@stimpyyouidiot you look great, but similar in that I think we are both hiding our pregnancies a little as no high up bump yet for either of us :)

Anyone else suffering horrible pregnancy dreams? I woke up today angry at my husband because dream him had sent me to NYC by myself 24 hours after our baby was born to drink mimosas and walk around the streets but without shoes, so I was using plastic bottles on my feet. Then he wouldn't let me back to the baby. Nicest man in the world in real life, and he wouldnt ever do that, but crazy what my pregnancy brain is making up. I usually don't remember any dreams so pregnancy is very weird for me, especially strange waking up angry at someone for something they didn't do!

stimpyyouidiot · 07/04/2022 15:36

@madeleine85 yep having really vivid and sometimes awful dreams!

annlee3817 · 07/04/2022 15:49

@EverydayIsPJday would you be comfortable wearing a kaftan over the costume?

IzzyLeigh · 07/04/2022 15:50

@EverydayIsPJday I don't have any swimsuit suggestions, but if the main thought is to have something to cover up with when lounging around the pool (and therefore visible), then maybe some very loose light beach pants or a super flowy maxi skirt/dress to wear over the swimsuit?
Then when it's time to get in the water, just quickly slip the pants/skirt/dress off and get in. Once in, no one will be able to see your legs anyway.
I know that isn't quite what you're asking for, but at least it's an idea if you can't find a swimsuit you're happy with for lounging. A compromise

@madeleine85 barefoot in NYC?! I'd be mad at my husband when I woke up too! At least he had the decency to ensure you got a bunch of mimosas first though haha
Yes, my dreams have been crazy vivid this whole time as well. Actually, I think that was probably my first pregnancy symptom along with my boobs reaaaaaally hurting

EverydayIsPJday · 07/04/2022 16:01

Thanks @IzzyLeigh and @annlee3817 I will take a look at your suggestions. I think I am being a bit paranoid but I've planted a seed in my head and there we go 🤦. We just went to centre parcs last month (and loved it hence returning before the price hike!) And my son's spent ages in the little kiddie sections which are all of a foot deep. Lots and lots of parents just stood about, playing or sat in the water but it lacks the ability to submerge and hide the wobble like a normal pool 🤣 that said some sort of beach shorts might work as I really didn't get very wet. I went in the main pool bit when the wave machine was on and went absolutely flying clutching my little bump - my god it was strong!! Staying out of that bit next time 🤣

Oh and absolutely agree to the crazy dreams. I dreamt I went into spontaneous labour, waters breaking in the night (scary when I'm definitely needing a section - I can't deliver naturally) and me and dh sped to the hospital with me ending up pushing on the maternity reception floor, I woke up in a right panic 🙈 hopefully that doesn't actually happen!! Very vivid though, like watching a movie.

annlee3817 · 07/04/2022 16:07

I used to wear kaftans if I wanted to protect my skin a bit more, they're quite lightweight, hide enough and dry quite quickly

madeleine85 · 07/04/2022 16:40

@EverydayIsPJday ok that is a real nightmare! I'd be flustered waking up to that too. Damn you pregnancy brain!

EverydayIsPJday · 07/04/2022 17:40

Thank you @annlee3817

@madeleine85 yes it's such an odd thing about pregnancy isn't it? Just to add to all of the other random stuff we have to go through 😂 some cruel irony that we spend the first trimester absolutely knackered and then move on to insomnia or haunting nightmares.... 🤦

So lovely so many of you are hitting the half way mark now/soon though 💪 I'm 16 weeks tomorrow which (as I will have a section at about 39 weeks) makes me 41% of the way through 🥳 wahoo!

Celyn22 · 07/04/2022 18:15

@EverydayIsPJday i’m a big fan of sarongs and wide thin scarves around the waist. I usually buy them from Indian dress shops for £3-10 depending on design and fabric. Perfect for small splashes!

@Tinadecember let us know when you find the CRL number!

EverydayIsPJday · 07/04/2022 18:26
