Thank you @IzzyLeigh 🥰 we are on cloud nine!

SoOverThisCrap · 31/03/2022 18:24

Congratulations and welcome @HaresHoping 😊

Belle2210 · 31/03/2022 18:24

@HaresHopping Amazing news! 💕 Due date triplets here along with @CLC22 as I'm the 6th also 😊

@carebear99 Put the Google down 🙈. Can't be healthy constantly finding the next thing to worry about.

That's us booked our gender scan for Saturday as DH is finally getting home tomorrow 🙌. Be his first look in at Bean. Can't wait!.... Although I'll have to a bit as we're doing a reveal so won't get to know the actual sex until then 🙈.

Discovered today that you get shiny nipples in the second trimester 🤣. Never had a clue about that and I'll never see the cocktail name 'Slippery Nipple' in the same light again 🤣.

Also am fairly sure I may have felt a couple of kicks today.... Mini prods really.

CLC22 · 31/03/2022 19:37

@HaresHoping & @Belle2210 aw yey!! I have due date triplets 😄 and how exciting belle I went for my gender scan when I was 15 + 2 but didn’t find out til 15+5 because we did a gender reveal with the family, we’re having a little girl 🥰

HaresHoping · 31/03/2022 19:59

@Belle2210 @CLC22 aww that's lovely! Due date triplets I'm so glad 🥰

The slippery nipple comment really made me laugh 😂

I have been feeling little prods too for the past few days or so. Just now I was watching the telly and there was a loud bang and I swear I felt the baby jump 😂 they can apparently hear and react to noise at this point so could be... 🤔

Hope the gender scan goes well!

Hey everyone, I had a 18 week doppler check today, all was good. I was talking to my doctor as I have been given progesterone for pre term labour due to my last one. It is making me feel utterly like crap. I've taken it 2 days now and it's started a yeast infection, really affected my mood negatively, is causing cramping and just is something i'd rather not take. I tend to react pretty badly to hormones in general, had wild mood swings on the mini pill etc. My DD came early last time due to a mix of dehydration, under eating and over exercising, I was suffering from an eating disorder but I have sought treatment and I am now in a healthy place. The progesterone effect is really making me feel down though, and in a dark place where I haven't been in a year. My doctor originally said I should stop taking it, then reversed and said because they don't know with 100% certainty that the ED caused the premature birth, they recommend I should still take it, but it was my decision if I stopped and that it most likely would be fine, but that I might want to talk to another consultant to see. I'm back for cervical measurements in 2 weeks so thinking of discontinuing it for 2 weeks and talking to the consultant then. Not sure if this is a bad idea, but if anyone has any experiences with progesterone, i'm all ears. Thanks ladies.

stimpyyouidiot · 31/03/2022 20:31

I have no experience but that sounds awful @madeleine85 - maybe ask another consultant?

IzzyLeigh · 31/03/2022 20:51

@CLC22 congrats on the little girl!

@Belle2210 haha I hadn’t heard that about shiny nipples! I’ll warn my husband to keep some sunglasses on hand if I happen to be getting changed around him Grin

@madeleine85 I’ve got no experience with this either, but I agree with @stimpyyouidiot on getting a second opinion to see if you can get reassurance before you stop. It sounds like your doctor thinks it'll be fine to stop but is just covering their ass on the off chance that you're preterm again. If that put doubt in your mind, then it definitely won't hurt to see another doctor or maybe just ask your doctor if they would check with others in their practice since you're a little nervous now that they had expressed doubt at their initial opinion. In the very least, it'll let them know that you want them to look into it more and that it's important to you.

Thanks @stimpyyouidiot and @IzzyLeigh I think I feel better knowing that they have taken one set of cervical measurements and I have another in 2 weeks time, which hopefully helps with the "is everything ok question?". That is with a specialist I have who deals with pre term labour and issues related to that and recommended progesterone in the first place. I was meant to start it 2 weeks ago, but they forgot to send the prescription, so i'm kind of like what is 2 more weeks when my measurements are good (so far) and we are 99.9% sure what caused last time's issues. I kind of feel that in the US (where I am) the doctors always try to cover their own arses and will say to take it, but I do want to talk to them more on it. Apparently there used to be an injection you could get instead, but that has been discontinued. Just my luck!

IzzyLeigh · 31/03/2022 21:16

haha exactly. Either covering their asses to avoid malpractice suits or getting kickbacks from big pharma for keeping patients on stuff. One or the other. I might be a little cynical though

I'm hugely suspicious of US health services, especially when you look at how much they get paid for each thing and the incentive they have to over-prescribe!

annlee3817 · 31/03/2022 22:17

I think it's entirely up to you @madeleine85 for me I know that my cervix shortened last time and had it not been for the in progesterone I probably wouldn't have carried to full term, but if you and the docs feel confident it was your ED that caused it then see how you go and decide after your next scan whether to resume. I honestly felt those side effects for the first week and then it eased off, as said on FB I'm also very sensitive to hormones and progesterone is not fun.

What dose have they given you? I've got 2 x 200mg pessaries to use before bed.

I do understand why you don't want them, they're not great, particularly when you know you'll potentially be using them until 36 weeks

TotoAnnihiliation · 31/03/2022 22:21

@madeleine85 how early did your daughter come? Mine came 5 weeks early. So far there had been no suggestion that this baby will be early but I certainly don't be making any plans during the last month of my pregnancy 🙈

HelenHomebird · 31/03/2022 22:39

I finally told my boss today after your words of encouragement and advice last week. Thanks so much! It went really well and they're over the moon for me and determined to be as supportive as possible. Time will tell when it's passed on to HR 😂

We also told our very close friends who are long term TTC and going through IVF and wanted to tell them in their own environment and not in a public place. And my god I've felt guilt riddled ever since. She was so kind and nice and understanding.

Tinadecember · 01/04/2022 08:23

Morning ladies, (well for those of us in the UK!)

finally friday woohooooo!!!

Slept terribly last night, sleeping on my front is a no no and I get paranoia when I switch to my back so its alternate sides which due to bump growing is becoming more and more uncomfortable :(
I have been toying with the idea of a pregnancy pillow for the last week or so but after last night I think I am going to bite the bullet and order one. I was thinking the BBHUGME, pricey but great reviews.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

dkedm15 · 01/04/2022 08:38

@HelenHomebird well done on telling work!! I completely get how you feel re guilt, our best friends (her DH is my DH's best mate too) had 2 miscarriages during lockdown and then struggled TTC, finally found out they were pregnant a couple of weeks before we found out (this is our first) and they lost their baby in February 😞 if you ever want a chat about how you're feeling just message me x

annlee3817 · 01/04/2022 08:43

@Tinadecember I got the dreamgeni and am happy with it, I didn't go for the bbhugme because I know I won't use it for breastfeeding, I never bothered with cushions last time as I wanted to get used to feeding without them as easier when out and about, so for me it would be a waste of money.

Good that you've told work @HelenHomebird and that it went down well :)

Morning! Happy Friday!

You must be a mind reader because I was going to ask the same thing about pregnancy pillows! I had my first crap night's sleep last night, lower back and hips are so sore so I think round ligament pain is kicking in and I could desperately do with getting a pregnancy pillow too but they all look so expensive!

What is the one you have like @annlee3817 ?

annlee3817 · 01/04/2022 09:07

It took me a couple of nights to get used to it, but was an immediate fix to the hip pain I was having

SoOverThisCrap · 01/04/2022 09:12

@annlee3817 ahh amazing, thank you! I literally live next door to an Argos and they're selling it for £55! 😱 I think I'll endure another crap night's sleep and get it from Amazon!

annlee3817 · 01/04/2022 09:59

Yeah there is one near me, noticed it was a lot more, I think the ones with the patterned covers are the pricier ones

EverydayIsPJday · 01/04/2022 10:06

So jealous of these pregnancy pillows, my hips are already sore from side sleeping and I'm only 15weeks today! My ds2 keeps getting in our bed in the night though so I can't use my lovely big pillow this time 😞 I'm going to try one of those knee wedge things instead to see if it helps. That or DH needs to go 😂

SoOverThisCrap · 01/04/2022 10:16

@EverydayIsPJday I was 15 weeks yesterday! Sorry to hear you're suffering with pains too.
