Been no show for a while but glad to catch up and see that everyone is doing well x

Redapple21 · 29/03/2022 22:44

Hi ladies thought I would jump on after scrolling through this thread the past few days. I'm 34 and this is my first baby, due 12th September. 16 weeks this week and the last couple of evenings I swear I've felt some strange bubbling in my stomach - thinking (and hoping) it could be the start of feeling the baby move - it will be so nice when I can actually feel it !! Hope everyone is doing ok, so nice reading through the group and seeing everyone at a similar stage :-)

IzzyLeigh · 29/03/2022 22:56

@annlee3817 and @madeleine85 : Glad you chose to stick with us; it truly wouldn’t be the same without you guys!

@madeleine85 same here with the middle name conundrum. We just can’t find anything we like that goes with the first name we decided on or with our complicated jumble of a last name! We’re aiming for a single syllable middle name but the options are rather limited and I’m not feeling too keen on most of them unfortunately. I mean, I like a lot of them—I just don’t LOVE them. They don’t give me that “this is it!” feeling

@stimpyyouidiot that’s what we had too but then one night my husband thought of a name and didn’t tell me about it. The next morning I thought of it too and asked him if he liked it. So it seemed like fate that we both thought of it independently and both loved it! Have you been testing any out?

@TotoAnnihiliation and @EverydayIsPJday: The name we picked was one we originally picked for if we were having a boy, but it turns out it’s gender-neutral (neither of us realized that at first). We liked it enough that we decided to use it for whichever we ended up with—which ended up being a girl. So maybe look into some unisex names and see if any strike you too? That way you’ll be ready for whichever you end up with!

@Em85kk haha that’s what ended up happening with us too. We were trying the name out as a top-runner and then it stuck and we’ve been calling her it for weeks now. I don’t think we ever officially officially decided, but it’s definitely her name now. No going back (not that I would anyway! I love it!)

@ShiningStarz ah might have been helpful for me to mention that I work from home. I don’t think I’d have such minimal leave goals otherwise. I very much see myself slacking for a little while before and after officially taking leave haha
That’s a good point regarding the scan. I guess my concern is that maybe the scheduler didn’t realize that I’d be only 18+6 for it. My initial worry came from my 12-week scan. I was 11w 6d for it and the sonographer kept saying how she wished they had scheduled me a little closer to 13 weeks because you can see so much more then and get such a better scan for the measurements and whatever. With her feeling for that one, I’m worried at the possibility that maybe she and the scheduler didn’t coordinate again. And obv that wouldn't be ideal since the 20-week one is so incredibly important and nerve-wracking to begin with.
I might mention it when I’m there for a regular appt next Friday just in case. Like you said, they know more than us, but I guess it never hurts to check. I should also mention that my doctor’s office is about 40 minutes away, so it’ll be extra frustrating if I end up having to go back. That’s not my main concern though, of course.

Hi @surprised12! How has everything been going for you?

Welcome @Redapple21! Very jealous of your probable baby feels!

@Redapple21 welcome and congrats, definitely sounds like movement, I started feeling that bubbling feeling around sixteen weeks with my first :)

@IzzyLeigh we have a list of names, but nothing is leaping out as a definite, we were set on one for our DD initially, but then changed it in the last three months. Struggling for another girl's name, we have different likes for names which makes it hard :)

Tinadecember · 30/03/2022 08:11

@Redapple21 welcome! I have also been feeling the tiniest of flickers this week and I am 16 weeks today.

regarding names, we are really struggling for a boys name, well I say we, more so me, I hate all boys names!! :( We have a few we both love for a girl but MIL hates our choices and I fear that my partner is going to veer away from our girls names because of his mums reaction.

Anyone else had this and how would you deal with it?

For me personally, I couldn't give a monkeys if anyone else likes our names but it was hurtful to hear his mum say "my god that's awful!"

annlee3817 · 30/03/2022 09:14

@Tinadecember we had this issue last time and have point blank refused to discuss names with anyone this time, if we announce a name once they're born they can't really say anything. So many names were ruined for us, and it was irritating. They keep trying to find out from our DD, but we've not talked too seriously about names in front of her and let her suggest them, but leave it at that.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 30/03/2022 09:43

I've had a scab this morning and all fine. They can't see anything obviously for the bleeding.

Peauela · 30/03/2022 09:44

@nearly8 I'm 29 and this is our first baby 🥰

@IzzyLeigh ahhh I knew everything was ok! Lovely photos! We booked our private scan for the 14th April, I can't wait until the 13th May 😂

@EverydayIsPJday omg I'm totally going to count how many days I have left excluding my holidays even though I'm working until the end of August 😂

@ShiningStarz omg that's so interesting! I have my private scan at 17 weeks and then my hospital scan at 21 weeks it would be soooo cool seeing the growth!

@Weddingaug2019 congrats on your baby girl 💕 so exciting 💕

@IzzyLeigh we picked our name for baby girl - Amelia - but the longer we actually use it the less it suits us so it may change 😂😂😂😂

annlee3817 · 30/03/2022 09:49

@Whatelsecouldibecalled so pleased to hear all ok with the scan :)

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 30/03/2022 09:50

Scan not scab

annlee3817 · 30/03/2022 09:50

@Peauela we have an Emelia :) we were on the fence with it until we saw her face, had to be with an E as our surname starts with an A so didn't want AA as initials

Peauela · 30/03/2022 10:57

@annlee3817 beautiful! Yes I think we'll wait with the actual choice until she's born 🥰

Tinadecember · 30/03/2022 11:24

Oh I love Emelia, I have a niece but spelt Emilia. I think if I didn't already have a niece with that name it would be on our list for girls for sure.

annlee3817 · 30/03/2022 11:29

@Tinadecember names are so hard, I don't know why I went with the Eme spelling either, annoys her as in the shops when she sees things with her name on it, it's always spelt Emi lol

Tinadecember · 30/03/2022 11:59

@annlee3817 it is beautiful regardless of the spelling!

girls.. are there any nub theorists out there? attached is my scan at 12+5, I have circled the areas that I am thinking could be nub but I am very new to this.

We will be finding out officially in a couple of weeks but be good to have your thoughts just for fun!

Due September 2022 (Thread 5!)
Tinadecember · 30/03/2022 12:00

don't know if what I have circled are legs or other body parts haha!

annlee3817 · 30/03/2022 12:02

@Tinadecember you've also got that line at the very bottom that could be

Tinadecember · 30/03/2022 12:05

@annlee3817 oh yes, I completely didn't see that... see, I am a definite beginner when it comes to reading scans!

annlee3817 · 30/03/2022 12:14

Lol I'm rubbish at guessing them, but I'll throw in a girl guess

Chlox16 · 30/03/2022 12:30

@Tinadecember I'm gonna go with a boy - defo no expert just a guess Smile x

stimpyyouidiot · 30/03/2022 12:42

@IzzyLeigh yes! The important thing with a name is you have to think of nicknames, and YELLING it all the time!! Haha. So we've had to sit there pretend calling for the baby hahaha.

stimpyyouidiot · 30/03/2022 12:43

I've had to come home early from work because I feel so incredibly rough. They are so understanding so I am very grateful. Hopefully I can catch an hour or so sleep before I have to go and get dd

Carebear99 · 30/03/2022 12:50

@stimpyyouidiot I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. Good you have an understanding employer.

Re names I like long names that can be shortened, I have a girls name picked out (that's if I'm having a girl, I posted a thread earlier worried that the NIPT may have the sex wrong)

20viona · 30/03/2022 12:51

@Tinadecember I think boy
