Talking about baby movements, my little girl hasn't stopped today at all 😂

mrkb · 15/03/2022 18:10

@AlbatrossSociety I've got my first negative today after a week of Covid! It hit me really badly - don't know if it's just my genes or the pregnancy or I got more exposure but I really have not been well. On the plus side, hospital were great - had a full suite of tests and an extra scan and everything is absolutely fine with baby so nothing to worry about there. I'm still not 100% - exhausted and can't smell a thing! - but relieved to have it behind me now. I don't think you need to worry, just focus on resting and staying hydrated - my doctor told me that I should have lucozade-type drinks if I couldn't eat anything so that I was still getting energy.
Basically a few rubbish days in bed, lots of exhaustion, and a gross cough/snotty nose but in hindsight nothing to be worried about. Hope you're not feeling too grotty 💞

PeeAche2 · 15/03/2022 18:20

@GrowBabyGrow I've been burpy for a few weeks now. At night time, I'm woken by this feeling of fullness which makes me feel sick... I have to stand up and then I let out these really, really big loud burps. Burps like I have never done before. They're comedy burps, like the sort that some gross kid would do in a Dennis the Menace cartoon. They come one after another, and then they're gone and I feel empty again and I lie down and fall back to sleep. It happens to me 2 or 3 times a night.

I told my midwife and she said it wasn't usual and that I might need to see a gastro specialist. So I downplayed it and declined the referral. I know that sounds silly but I know in myself that it's nothing serious. Just the way my body is behaving at the moment.

It's so weird though.

AlbatrossSociety · 15/03/2022 18:40

@mrkb thanks, I'm feeling really achey and coughy and breathless, hoping it will pass quite quickly though. I only have 3 weeks left at work and I'm gutted to be completely missing one! Waiting for hospital to call me back.

I have also been VERY burpy, my nipples are also way darker and I'm another one who is not weighing myself. I'm trying to focus on health, not weight! Think we are all so different that comparing weights is tricky stuff.

InvisibleDragon · 15/03/2022 19:16

Wow, 8 pages into thread 9 already!

I also have very quiet movement days. This weekend he was kicking loads every 2 hours or so. Today and yesterday longer gaps and lighter movement - but also in different places, so I think it's more that I feel it less than that he's actually moving less. If I lie down, I can usually identity a few more prods fairly quickly too. Does that sound normal or should I be calling triage?

And add me to the evening bloating/heartburn list. I've started eating very small, low-fat meals in the evening and then taking gaviscon tablets. Chewable. Gross before bed. It does help though.

InvisibleDragon · 15/03/2022 19:18

On weight gain - I'm not weighing myself because I found it stressful. My body feels healthy and hadn't changed hugely apart from the bump, so I'm going to assume everything is fine.

Prema112 · 15/03/2022 19:20

@JAR1981 I'm not sure if it is RLP, I also thought that was more in the sides. It definitely comes on with exercise for me.

@EarlGreywithLemon thank you! Yes I actually did do a bit of walking as I basically felt like I was treading water as the grannies were going so slow 😂

@Vimto1991 I'm not sure! Worth looking into

@Roxystar23 Yes that sounds like the same thing!! It's quite disconcerting isn't it! Well done for trying to exercise but yeah maybe take the car next time. I can't really handle hills anymore, had to walk up one for 15 mins at the weekend and nearly didn't make it, my 5 year old was marching ahead of me!

Prema112 · 15/03/2022 19:33

@BunBun221 So sorry to hear about your accident and pain!! I almost went flying this evening too after tripping over the laundry basket, shook me up a bit. Hope the codeine helps, rest up!

fpeg · 15/03/2022 19:50

@AlbatrossSociety I had covid about 3 weeks ago. Felt really rubbish (bad cold and a bit of a cough but just drained of energy) for 3 days then improved rapidly, hope you stage a speedy recovery xxx I rang midwife but they just said stay rested and well hydrated and I didn't need anything else.

@BunBun221 that sounds awful, hope things pick up soon 💚

@GrowBabyGrow I have had the most horrendous burping most of the way through the pregnancy, but it does seem to be gaining pace as I go along!

Movement wise I agree with whoever it was that said since I hit 28 weeks it's been more consistently obvious. Over the last week much more noticeable and I'm not having the quiet days that I was still getting last week

@Roxystar23 I also get the pain in the groin when exercising, lower than the round ligament pain that I felt previously. Feels quite "burny" when it comes on but also goes away again fairly quickly (within 5-10 mins of stopping and resting). I've just got back from yoga and that really helps it!

EarlGreywithLemon · 15/03/2022 22:04

I completely get the people who don’t weigh themselves. I’ve only done it a couple of times this pregnancy (though more regularly the previous). In the previous pregnancy I did it more to make sure I wasn’t under eating. I had a few years of disordered (under) eating when I was younger so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t in any way depriving myself.
The good news is - pregnancy and having a baby have both positively reset my relationship with food and my body. I hope I’m in a place where I don’t slip back into the old ways again in the future.

Jammymare · 16/03/2022 04:17

Anyone else suffering with insomnia? I’m wide awake and ready to start the day, but I know by 10am I’ll be a zombie Sad

Turniptracker · 16/03/2022 07:08

@BunBun221 I could absolutely feel your scenario as I read it! Excruciating. I'm also in the pgp club but sadly the hospital is just ignoring me. Even to get some crutches for when I can't walk due to the pain (although having borrowed some I've discovered they don't really help). I went to a private specialist at the weekend who was very nice and did some alignment things but the problem is still here and arguably sometimes still as painful. Roll on june

BunBun221 · 16/03/2022 08:25

@Turniptracker I'm so sorry you're struggling too! It helps to know someone else is experiencing it as everyone I've mentioned it to so far keeps saying it's normal to be a bit uncomfortable... uncomfortable doesn't quite cut the feeling of being unable to move!

I didn't get on with crutches at all. The hospital have said if I can't get a handle on it with physio I may have to consider a wheelchair for the last month or so of pregnancy and I'm really hoping we don't have to go down that route. I've never been 'adjusted' is that just from a normal chiro appointment?

Flowerbug1994 · 16/03/2022 08:53

I spent 5 hours in maternity unit last night for reduced movements and what do you know I was on monitor for 2 hours because then he kept moving away from it and the monitor was loosing the heart beat 😭😭😭 all is good doctor was happy with his movements and heartbeat and sent me on my way. I would just say ladies if you have any doubts just go in doctor was more than happy to see me. Midwife was abit snotty but I think she was just one of the abrupt ones. This movement stuff has my head up the wall roll on June to get this baby out.

On the pgp/spd - I had it with my last pregnancy. Touch wood it’s not AS bad this time around. I’m constantly looking at pictures from PP to see when I knew the pain really hit me and I’m not there yet. Just hoping it’s not the same as last time. I have physio next week due to pains and aches so trying to catch it before it heightens.

On another note, I had a bit of chicken pakora last night. The burning gates of hell consumed me most of the evening!!! Why did I even think that was a good idea !?!? Cuddled my bottle of Gaviscon to sleep and I still feel it’s making me suffer this morning. Confused

destiEos · 16/03/2022 09:21

@Letsbekindplease 😂 I did that to myself with something ridiculous like 5 bags of crisps and 3 bars of chocolate. I was just feeling a bit miserable and thought it would make me feel better. I then also experienced "the burning gates of hell" despite being on omeprazole. You live and learn, eh?

I'm at the hospital waiting for the GTT - have realised they just tell everyone to rock up at 9am - I'm 5th in line and they've just called in number 3, so things are moving.. Does anyone know why you have to wait in the antenatal clinic for 2 hours? I'm like 10 minutes from my house, would like to go home and come back. Also cross your fingers for me - have intentionally avoided finding out what it actually means I have to do if I test positive 🥺

fpeg · 16/03/2022 09:32

@destiEos hope it all goes well for you. No idea on the possibility of them letting you home I'm afraid!

destiEos · 16/03/2022 10:00

@fpeg thanks 🙂 All done and killing a couple of hours! I think I might be the exception as I thought the drink was just like a bit rubbish squash and they were super quick with blood draw, so yay!

I asked about leaving and they said no - the drink can cause dizziness, which is fair enough. Dizzy anyway as I've been up since 4am (I feel your pain @Jammymare!) and hungry 😢

Vimto1991 · 16/03/2022 10:21

I was up between about 3 and 4, then up from 5:50 so I feel your pain 😫
I haven’t been as dizzy the past few days. I’ve noticed it can be a symptom of pregnancy, so I’ve avoided taking the iron tablets that’s been prescribed until they can look at my 28 week bloods!

destiEos · 16/03/2022 10:29

@Vimto1991 yeah, not sleeping well generally but I think anxiety is the cause. I was waking up at 5am every morning for about 6 months pre-pregnancy and it went away, but appears to have returned 😕

I phased out all vitamins and supplements a while ago, but have started them back up again mainly so I don't end up throwing them out! Except the Omegazon - they're going in the bin 🤢 Good luck with bloods, can't say for dizziness but I'm not very active which probably helps 😬

CurryandSnuggle · 16/03/2022 10:32

@Vimto1991 I’m not weighing myself either. I want to focus on being healthy. As long as I’m being healthy then my weight gain will be a normal level, that’s the way I look at it.

@PeeAche2 so sorry to read about your previous losses and how it has affected you. Glad you are feeling much calmer now.

On the orgasm comment - do you not find them painful though? I’m not enjoying them anymore as it makes my uterus hurt. 😫

@aus12 my first was born on 14th June, we had him in a hat in the hospital. I only took 1 blanket with me but the midwife turned up with an additional like 3 blankets. They must feel the cold more than I realised!

@BunBun221 bless you, I have nothing practical to add but I really feel for you and glad your physio has been fast tracked.

I have mild PGP which I didn’t get in my first pregnancy so it’s a bit of a shock to the system but I’m thankful I can still walk. I can’t imagine what severe PGP must be like Sad

@Letsbekindplease omg I had a really spicy chicken jalfrezi the other night, and I felt so sick the next day from indigestion. Not helped by the fact we’re decorating and I had to lean over to paint skirting boards which was squashing my stomach even more 🤢 that’s the last spicy meal I’m having for a while 😂 (though I love them!)

Vimto1991 · 16/03/2022 10:33

@destiEos I’ve only taken vitamin d and folic acid throughout as it’s all the NHS recommends and pregnacare isn’t recommended for thyroid issues (I think it contains iodine). Just been hoping I get all my other vits and minerals through my diet 😂
I’m not very active either, I did think am I dizzy and exhausted cause I’m unfit and in my third trimester haha

Vimto1991 · 16/03/2022 10:34

@CurryandSnuggle I try and eat healthy, too. I didn’t consume a chocolate fudge cake at the hungry horse last night… nope. 👀

CurryandSnuggle · 16/03/2022 10:36

@Vimto1991 lol! That does sound incredible to be fair.

Well we are allowed a treat Grin
