@aus12 my midwife said they take a bit of time to self regulate temperature after 9 months inside the stable 37 degrees of your bod. So they all need hats.

Side note: just imagine how deliciously warm it must be inside our wombs.

destiEos · 14/03/2022 14:59

@JAR1981 - that's good to know - thanks! We're looking at the changing table/dresser and the tallboy too - although bit gutted that those are mdf but we need some storage and they match, so will probably get one or both of those.

destiEos · 14/03/2022 15:02

@aus12 the hats are so cute though, even if he doesn't wear them I'll keep them and have them framed, or put them on the cat Grin

Now you mention it though, summer babies will probably need sun-hats, especially if you're in Aus?

Vimto1991 · 14/03/2022 15:05

On the class I was on they said hats and blankets for two days as they can’t regulate heat, but they don’t recommend hats at home after. :)

Vimto1991 · 14/03/2022 15:07

Also realised as of Wednesday I’m officially in the third trimester gang! Must be some of you already in this so yay!
0-20 weeks flew by. 20-28 not so much lol

JAR1981 · 14/03/2022 15:08

@Flowerbug1994 there’s no concern according to the NHS. The chemicals in swimming pools should kill all waterborne infections, so please don’t worry. I’m just not comfortable after 5 years, pregnancy loss and £25k to get this far to risk it.

@PeeAche2 I’ll hold on for those good vibes please!

JAR1981 · 14/03/2022 15:11

@destiEos unfortunately we didn’t see the changing table/dresser. We were considering it however I think we’re just going to get an IKEA one in the end though as decided open sides is prob more practical than drawers if you have a poonami incident to deal with! And cheaper too.

JAR1981 · 14/03/2022 15:13

Yay @Vimto1991 I’m now in the 3rd tri too. I can’t believe it! Praying this one hangs on for another 9-11 weeks and the time flies. Feels so close now doesn’t it.

Vimto1991 · 14/03/2022 15:21

@JAR1981 so close and yet so far! I’ve been saying 10-12 as well. Don’t mind if they’re a tad early but they need to pickle inside me a bit more haha! 🙈 I just want my maternity to start, I’m regretting only booking two weeks before due date when I’d love time to do stuff sooner!

PeeAche2 · 14/03/2022 15:22

I've painted the first wall of the baby's new room. I'm exhausted. Took the afternoon to do the whole room but that is not happening. 😅

destiEos · 14/03/2022 16:14

@JAR1981 i had a bit of a falling out with Ikea, and swore blind never to buy so much as a tealight from them again Angry, which has worked out pretty well as I've stopped finding those little round screw-tightening-things all over the bloody place in our new flat. The lovely lady from Obaby called me back with measurements so now to get measuring up to see what fits! I'm crossing fingers that I have drawers closed when Poonami occurs - to be fair we have a cat, so open anything is a bad idea..

DH has decided we are joining the Oyster3 club too after reading all the reviews and watching all the youtubes Smile so thanks to all for recommending.

Whoo - 3rd tri! I am now super-preggo - no-one's mistaking me for fat anymore (well, not just fat anyway)

@PeeAche2 please come and put my stickers up - I bought a couple of cute animal decals which will probably look super-cheapo-rubbish, but the room is 50% office, 50% nursery, so needs must in decoration terms..

Octoblockisadick · 14/03/2022 21:01

@MrsNT I think about 7 or 8kg up at 27 weeks. Not 100% sure though, I don't think my scales at home work very well and the first weight is the hospital one. I think 9-10kg sounds fine.

@Turniptracker I'm exhausted. And I've been feeling very nauseous again the last week or so, thought that had all stopped Sad.

@PeeAche2 my sex drive is completely zero at the minute, but I would love to be wanting to have sex with my husband! The very odd times i feel like it always seem to be when he's at work though. He would love it if i wanted it as well! I also (tmi sorry!) feel quite "tight" which concerns me a bit haha! I'm also struggling with positions due to the uncomfortableness I feel.

I've been feeling so uncomfortable and struggling the past few days, I don't know how I'm going to last another 10 -15 weeks!
I've got an appointment with the birth centre manager on Friday though to hopefully get signed off to go there in labour.

unknownscot · 14/03/2022 21:43

I had a consultant appointment today (25+5) and have now to go for growth scans as fundal height measuring 29!

I remember some people going for GTT, is anyone positive for Gestational Diabetes? How are you coping/managing?

EarlGreywithLemon · 14/03/2022 21:57

We were also told the baby should wear a hat in hospital but not inside our home. We had two cotton hats in hospital for our daughter so will do the same this time. He can then wear them outside later if it’s still a little nippy, but otherwise I’m getting some sun hats for him.
All going well, I hope he’ll wear the same hat as our daughter did straight after she was born. I still remember being taken to theatre and my husband being told to bring the hat - it was the first time it felt truly real that she was about to be born.
@PeeAche2 you absolutely can eat smoked salmon in pregnancy in the UK, I have it every week as my treat. Otherwise I would struggle to get oily fish in as it’s one of the foods that still makes me feel sick if it’s warm. As long as you don’t have more than 2 portions of oily fish a week it’s not a problem .

Lostintranslatio · 15/03/2022 07:56

@unknownscot I had my appointment with mw yesterday (24+5) and she told me I will be getting a scan in the third trimester as my BMI is below 20. Happy anyway that I will see baby in 8 though 😅 She also gave me the glucose syrup and will phone today with the results 🤞

sunflower198 · 15/03/2022 08:27

@unknownscot 🙋🏻‍♀️ I was positive for GD about 10 days ago, been testing 6x a day since. It's not been easy, and pretty miserable tbh. But during the day, I do seem to be able to eat most things and have good readings (I'm still having small portions of pasta and even managed a burger from mcds). Struggling with my overnight readings and have an appt tomorrow with diabetic team and fully expect to be put on medication soon ☹️

destiEos · 15/03/2022 09:13

@unknownscot I've got the GTT tomorrow, keeping fingers crossed.

I've started my Omegazon supplements again and every morning, despite taking with breakfast I have a really disgusting burp that tastes of like dank swamp water or something about half an hour after. I hate oily fish, only ever eat clean white fish and no seafood at all, so I thought I really should take the supplements, but I don't think I can carry on...

MsBubbles85 · 15/03/2022 09:16

I am 24+5 and I have been feeling kicks but less hard than other times. Is this normal? Should I worry?? I had my midwife appointment on Friday and heart rate was 148 and the fetal measurement was fine.
I had a pretty stressful call with my mum last night which ended up with me crying after the call (their flat was robbed and they only found out on Friday night when they arrive from their holiday home and she was just lashing out at me and venting) and it has been quite a stressful weekend for them and for me.
I am scared that my stress might affect the baby!!

pregnancydiaries · 15/03/2022 09:25

@MsBubbles85 I ended up at triage last night for exactly the same reason (not the stress but the reduced movements). I was still getting kicks but they felt less aggressive and different. I had been feeling this way since Saturday and put it off for 3 days. The midwives and the doctor all told me off and told me to get checked straight away if we have any worries at all. Little one is completely fine and after some poking and prodding is back to his usual self. So my advice would be get yourself to triage for peace of mind ♥️ xx

PeeAche2 · 15/03/2022 09:27

Hi @MsBubbles85 sorry to hear about all of your stress. I hope that you are feeling okay today. ❤️

At 24 weeks, baby's kicks will vary in intensity, depending on baby's position. After 28 weeks, baby stays in one place far more, is much stronger and filling much more of your uterus. This is why you should try not to worry about length, frequency, intensity, location etc too much before that point.

However, if you're very worried, speak to your midwife. They will measure baby's heartbeat and reassure you. You know your own body best.xxx

destiEos · 15/03/2022 09:32

@MsBubbles85 - same here, little one changes in frequency and intensity of movements but I also know he's changing position regularly - not sure what from/to - but sometimes he's really uncomfortable and other times I'm hardly aware of him at all (currently at the really uncomfortable stage and I'm sure he's lying with his head at my spine and his feet spread-eagled at each of my hips Grin

MsBubbles85 · 15/03/2022 09:37

Thanks @pregnancydiaries @PeeAche2 and @destiEos for your kind words. I'm at the office today and if it continues the same I will call maternity triage when I get home. I'm now in the toilet trying not to cry, the last days have been really stressful

pregnancydiaries · 15/03/2022 09:54

I think they call that pregnancy hormones @MsBubbles85 - cry away, I know I have on an almost daily basis 😂

Call after work if you're still after some reassurance, but like the others say, these wee rascals still have plenty of room to float about at the moment xx

Lostintranslatio · 15/03/2022 09:56

@MsBubbles85 I'm 24+6 and baby kicks vary in intensity a lot for me! I can feel them stronger than a couple of weeks ago but some days they are more subtle, I guess she moves to a different position and I can feel her less. Try to call triage to get check but I'm pretty sure your baby will be fine 😊 Mw told me yesterday that babies sometimes have quieter days, and that if I'm still worried about movements I should give them a call anyway for reassurance.

MsBubbles85 · 15/03/2022 09:59

Thanks all! I went to M&S and got a small can of full fat coke (I haven't had any caffeine since I found out I was pregnant) and baby has started to kick a bit more. I am feeling a bit less stressed now. Thanks a lot to all of you, you have made feel much better!!!
