I keep starting a message then losing it argh!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes, and happy birthday @pregnancydiaries!! Cake. I had a pregnancy massage weeks ago, and I've got another booked for Wednesday, I'm so looking forward to it. Last time it was just for a relaxing day off, this time I'm hoping it helps with the hip pain a bit!

Sorry to hear about your husbands gran @destiEos. I'm sure you'll be OK going to the first class alone, but don't imagine they would have a problem if you took a friend.

@Vimto1991 that nursery is gorgeous! Feeling the same about work, I'm sure when the time comes I'll be glad of the time with baby at the end, but at the minute I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to cope for another 8 weeks.
@GrowBabyGrow working out actual working days it's only 33 so not that bad when I think about it that way!

@CurryandSnuggle your bump looks amazing, and I love that dress too!

@4thtimethecharm so glad to hear you got good news. Fingers crossed for the next appointment too.

@MsBubbles85 those clothes are adorable. Loving the homemade blankets too!

@imhereforthecake I'm NHS, technically patient facing but I can do my job without direct patient contact (ward based pharmacist). I'm carrying on working on wards at the moment, but am only on wards where patients are in individual cubicles and I can access medical notes without going near them. My manager is really good and has basically said I can work on whichever ward I feel most comfortable and if anything changes or I get worried to let her know and we will make a new plan.

@InvisibleDragon oh that must have been so scary, glad you are all OK!

@Littlemilomoo loving your nursery too! We aren't doing a nursery, plan is for baby to be in with us for around a year, then our daughter will be getting the bigger room and we will redecorate her room for baby. Wish I had a nursery to decorate though looking at the pictures!

@Honey2 I'm definitely feeling it! Baby feels so low already, I feel like I've got a bowling ball in my pants and I'm waddling 😒. Not looking forward to another 9-13 weeks depending on when they decide to make an appearance!

@PleaseSendNoodles think we have decided on the ocarro with a maxi cosi seat. Just need to actually order it! Those draws are so cute too, love the colour.

PleaseSendNoodles · 29/03/2022 02:18

@RoseValleyRambles that’s very restrained! A drawer of his tiny things sounds adorable.

In reality, our ‘nursery’ is essentially the spare bedroom with a cot and bassinet added in. I expect to sleep there for the first few months - leaving DH to the (relative) peace of our bedroom… 😴

PleaseSendNoodles · 29/03/2022 02:24

I think mumsnet is being glitchy?! @Octoblockisadick your message only popped up after I posted mine. Odd! The Occaro looks great though! And thanks, the drawers are my new pride and joy 🤣💕

fpeg · 29/03/2022 07:40

@Honey2 yep totally starting to feel it! I'm also 41, first baby for me and 31 weeks tomorrow. Energy levels have started to dive off a cliff in the last 3 days and whilst I've been ok up until now, getting pain at the bottom of my bump when stood for long periods! We're getting our holiday (slightly delayed) after all on Thursday and I'm now anxious about all the standing round in the airport. Can't wait to get away on our final trip as a couple though!

Another one seriously loving all the nursery photos (and the organisation ideas!)

Roxystar23 · 29/03/2022 08:55

Hi Everyone,

I’ve had a few days away in Devon & Cornwall & phone signal hasn’t been the best where we were staying so I’ve enjoyed catching up on the thread to see what I’ve missed.

Happy belated birthday @Octoblockisadick - We have also gone for the Ocarro with the Maxi Cosi.
Happy Birthday @pregnancydiaries

@4thtimethecharm - Glad to hear that your last hospital visit was a lot more positive - cheering that little baby on to grow bigger and stronger! 😊

Loving all the nursery photos and baby clothing storage photos! I’m another one that is planning on having the baby in the same room as us for the first 6 months so we haven’t really started thinking about what will be the baby’s room yet. It will either be the office or my beauty storage room (I’m thinking it will be the latter) - we will get working on this once we have wed in September.

To those asking if the energy levels have dropped - Yes, Yes & Yes. I’m 29+5 today and the smallest tasks now wear me out - such as putting a load of laundry on. Anyone else having to crawl up the stairs at bedtime?

I’ve got a growth scan today so looking forward to that. My 20 week scan image was awful and really unclear so hoping to get a better one today - trying to decide whether drinking lots of water will help the clarity of the image or not. Or will I just be desperate for the loo the whole time as baby decides to tap dance on my bladder! 😂

CurryandSnuggle · 29/03/2022 09:36

@Vimto1991 @destiEos @fpeg @beansprout55 @InvisibleDragon @PeeAche2 @Rolledthedice @Annabell1 @Octoblockisadick aww thank you everyone for the sweet comments 😍 it’s so round this time I can’t stop stroking it haha!!

For those inspired by the dress, I’ll share a few I’ve got that I love!!

www.dorothyperkins.com/maternity-and-nursing-blue-floral-midi-dress/AQQ47740.html

I’m short but it’s not too long even though it’s not from petite range. It’s comfy, pretty and nursing friendly! 🙂 I intend to keep wearing after birth.

I got another different dress from Dorothy Perkins but sadly it’s sold out. It’s beautiful although not a nursing dress.

I bought a maternity dress from here: www.happymama.co.uk/
Never purchased from here before but it had good trust pilot reviews so j thought I’d give it a go. Really affordable nursing wear in pretty designs. It arrived promptly, very pretty and does not look or feel cheap. I’m impressed! Also they’re designed to fit during and after pregnancy, so doesn’t feel like a waste.

And here’s the dress I was wearing in the picture I posted:
www.seraphine.com/en-gb/pink-floral-maternity-and-nursing-midi-dress-ss22/

It’s a bit pricey but top tip, every 2 weeks they seem to have a different sale on. When I bought it it was 20% off dresses.

@4thtimethecharm Great news, so glad to read that nothing else concerning was detected ❤️

@PeeAche2 you cracked me up with your tiramasu story 😂😂😂

CurryandSnuggle · 29/03/2022 09:38

P.S with the happy mama shop, they have a large range of maternity nursing dresses

PeeAche2 · 29/03/2022 09:55

@4thtimethecharm ❤️ I am so relieved that there were no causes for concern at your scan. Sending lots of love to you and your baby.

My tummy is sticky out and hard at the top, but soft and gross at the bottom.

Before I was pregnant, I used to have a little squishy pouch at the bottom of the tum. My husband used to say it was cute... It's now turning into a swinging bit of flab, as my belly grows and grows.

  1. It feels cold. Like there's no circulation to it. Sometimes when I curl up in bed, in just my nightie, it touches my thighs and makes me jump.
  2. When I "run" (it's not a run anymore) upstairs in just a dress or nightie, it slaps against the tops of my thighs like a wet kipper.
  3. I can't wear tight hugging maternity clothes that show off a gorgeous bump.

I am so ashamed of my swinging flab. 😢 Seriously. I feel really embarrassed by it and I hate getting my stomach out at appointments.

I have googled it and it is a thing for some women. I think it might have been worsened by me losing so much weight so quickly in my first trimester. And after pregnancy, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have an apron belly. 😢 😢

Has anyone else got this? I feel like such a disgusting freak.

On a less melancholy note, those drawers by @PleaseSendNoodles are so cute it makes me want to cry.

destiEos · 29/03/2022 09:57

@MsBubbles85 - so many clothes, so many colours! I think I went over-gender neutral, I have mostly grey, white and yellow - will have to rectify on next round (0-3 months), I have exclusively newborn stuff - he'd better be a very average sized baby Grin

@Vimto1991 they look lovely in the pics, let's see how that works out when they're squeezed into our little office/nursery! The nursing chair won't fit in here either I don't think, will probably go in the lounge..

@InvisibleDragon how scary, glad to hear it wasn't serious and you and baby are ok.

PeeAche2 · 29/03/2022 09:59

I have gone v gender neutral in my clothing choices for baby. Largely because I prefer it, even though I know she's a girl.

... my mother has been buying more clothes than my daughter will ever be able to wear, all in pink. Mostly in kind of gross hues of pink. Think 80s pink.

I don't have the heart to tell her that I hate them. Yesterday she presented me with a baby grow that looks like she bought it from C&A in 1987.

destiEos · 29/03/2022 10:04

@Littlemilomoo I was going to say I loved the wallpaper when I saw it on @Vimto1991's pics! And is that Snuzcot I see too? Gorgeous.

@PeeAche2 don't talk about cake, I'm on the glucose testing 4 times a day and no more cake allowed :'( devastated...

@Rolledthedice I ordered yesterday and the cot/dresser aren't expected fro a couple of weeks and the chair for 13 weeks! If you want specific things you may want to check the lead-times for them, I was pretty surprised that no-one seems to have any stock for nursing chairs.

@PleaseSendNoodles the travel system was what we bought first (still in boxes though!), this thread really helped make the decision too - it was my favourite when we went to view and so many others here had bought it, it was an easy decision to make. Those drawers are beautiful - wish they sold ones like that

Vimto1991 · 29/03/2022 10:10

@PeeAche2 don’t worry, you aren’t alone. I’ve always been self conscious of my lower belly, even after almost 9 years with my DH I hate him seeing it. Pregnancy will probably make it worse but I’m almost past the point of caring considering how many stretch marks I’m also getting 😁

@destiEos I think the wallpaper is from I love wallpaper, DH just googled wallpaper and probably clicked the first link 😂

destiEos · 29/03/2022 10:14

@PeeAche2 we're having a boy, and although we both wanted a girl one of the best things about having a boy is I WAY prefer the boys clothes! I'm pretty sure I bought a flowery girls shirt and dungarees for him too though. I'm not a fan of frilly things, but I would like to buy more colours and a lot of the choices seem to be either pink, blue or grey.

My mum gave me my gran's(passed away 30 years ago now) crocheted yellow blanky for the baby and I haven't cried yet, but am welling up thinking about it now.

TIRED - all the time, am ready for a nap now in fact :/

Oh and thanks @Octoblockisadick, DH's father is not coming out til the end of April for his gran's funeral, and then coming with rest of family so I think me and DH will go for the funeral together for the day instead. I am very relieved Smile

destiEos · 29/03/2022 10:17

@Vimto1991 we only have the one wall that can be papered (opposite is full of bookshelves, and one of the other walls is all built in wardrobes, opposite patio doors - no patio though Wink), probably not worth it - I have cheesy stickers instead. I shall get photos up once we finally get things in some sort of order, at the moment everything is on order and we have piles of stuff on the floor. I am super-jealous of everyones lovely nurseries and their teeny clothes and organised drawer-dividers. Please come over and sort my shit out :D

Vimto1991 · 29/03/2022 10:22

@destiEos
I thought I’d prefer boys clothes, too, but we have remained super gender neutral and keeping the gender a secret as I really don’t like pink vs blue, I’ve actually found a lot of girls clothes I’ve seen online to be quite adorable which is a shock since I’m not a girly girl!!

We only had a tiny wall, one roll was enough cause we made a few mistakes and it wasn’t too expensive. A pain to put up, though. I’m not gonna lie, you’re best off having my DH around cause I basically was his little helper handing him stuff like scissors and brushes. 😂😂 we got it sorted this early as we only have Sundays off together and that would have taken us ages to do if we did it once per week, still, plenty of time left! And baby will be in our room first six months anyway, so I wouldn’t worry about not having it done up just yet!! :)

Littlemilomoo · 29/03/2022 10:58

@destiEos yes it’s the snuzkot (attached) We love it now it’s up but it was a nightmare to put together!! Lots of foul language from DP 😂 nothing aligned up right so he had to wing it a little but it’s perfect now it’s up and safe which is most important thing! Just something be aware of when ordering/building although we might of just had a dud set?
We have the snuzpod too we got 2nd hand and using the snuzpouch as sleeping bags for LO - full on snuz branded lol! Should be a paid brand ambassador at this point ..

destiEos · 29/03/2022 11:55

@Vimto1991 - there's some nice girls things, but way too many frilly things for me! Pink is fine, and I love flowery things, which I will mix with neutral things for baby boy.

Haha - neither me nor DH have ever even attempted wallpaper, my parents actually painted this flat for us before we moved in - they wouldn't let us even help them, as they didn't want us to get in their way :D

Also first 6 months in the snuzpod with us, bit annoying the cot will be here before baby when it won't yet be needed, but the nursing chair - if on time, will be here a month after baby. I shall feed the little one in my computer chair! Can watch some rubbish on the interweb while I do so..

@Littlemilomoo it's very pretty, and that's the colour we were going to get! We finally saw it irl at Westfield and although it is gorgeous, we decided on the Obaby Maya mini in the end, as it's only 120x60cm and our room is a bit tricky. I had read that putting the Snuzcot together was a nightmare, but assumed the would have fixed that, as the reviews were really old. Ah well, it looks perfect.

I bought the Snuzpod full bundle for next-to-bed and everything arrived within 2 days, except the mattress protector - which arrived on Sunday after around a million emails to Scandiborn :| All the Snuz stuff is lovely to be fair..

Haven't put the Snuzpod together or the Oyster3 to see if it fits down the hallway! You will all get tons of photos once my sorry arse actually gets organised :D

destiEos · 29/03/2022 11:58

I should do some work today, excuse me Wink

PeeAche2 · 29/03/2022 12:33

I have a nursing chair in my bedroom already. It's been there 2 weeks and it's already turned into my chairdrobe. 🙄

Flowerbug1994 · 29/03/2022 15:17

Has anybody decided what they are using for hospital bag yet ? Are you and baby having same bag or separate ones ? Also what size are you going for when I’ve wrote my list it seems like I’ve got loads to take l.

fpeg · 29/03/2022 15:38

@Flowerbug1994 I've got the list of things to put in it... seems like a lot! After learning today that I'm likely to induced and then from someone currently being induced that they are 5 days into the process I'm planning on packing most stuff in one bag (whichever size suitcase it all fits in) with an "extended stay" wardrobe in a carry on size suitcase for DH to bring along if we end up needing it.

One thing the person going through the induction right now said is that her husband started the paternity leave when she went in but has now wasted pretty much a week of it with not much going on. She said she would advise waiting until in actual labour for partners to start their paternity leave, so thought I'd pass that on as useful info! Apparently due to staffing issues it's becoming more normal for a longer induction process.

Lostintranslatio · 29/03/2022 16:45

@PeeAche2 baby wasn't moving too much this morning, so I had a coffee latte after lunch. She woke up. I'm an awful mam 😂

My bump has popped out so much in the last few days and I've noticed my posture is getting compromised and I'm getting back pains. Does any of you try a bump belt/band? Are they any helpful?

PeeAche2 · 29/03/2022 16:53

@Lostintranslatio I've tried 2 belts from Amazon and a JoJoMama band.

Unhappy to report that literally none of them worked. Mostly they just roll down / dig in / come undone.

Now in apple catchers, teamed with Matalan preggo leggings and can report this helps somewhat with the round ligament pain.

Nothing helps with the back pain. If I lie down, it eases it but then I get heartburn.

Lostintranslatio · 29/03/2022 17:03

@PeeAche2 oh no! I was hoping they would be the holy grail and help to improve my posture 😭😭

Esperer · 29/03/2022 17:07

@PeeAche2 I also get a bit embarrassed about the shape of my bump, not quite as you describe but I have a very squashy roll that sort of sits on top! Have you tried wearing cycling shorts or similar to help give a bit of support? I feel a bit more confident when everything is smoothed out a bit. I bought some in H&M that are great under dresses, they go up to my bra and then eliminate chub rub too! H&M also have a stripy dress at the moment in a thick fabric that doesnt cling the bump too much, I would recommend!
