@4thtimethecharm Really sorry to hear that - it sounds really stressful. Thinking of you and your little one Flowers

MrsTwentyNine · 26/03/2022 10:43

Ah thank you @rathernotshare
It was only yesterday so I will find out Monday I believe 🙈
I wonder what the growth scan will say about the baby's size! How are you finding GD? are you on a specified diet ?

beansprout55 · 26/03/2022 10:46

Ahhh @rathernotshare that explains it! I have a healthy BMI and relatively healthy diet, but the consultant early on requested I have the test for GD based on the fact my mum recently developed type 2 (albeit due to her being obese, which I did explain - and it's diet controlled still!)
I wondered why that should mean I have to have the test as her diabetes is caused by her diet. I am having it late at almost 28 weeks later this week!
Once diagnosed what did they do? Did you have to alter your diet much or take med?xxxx

sunflower198 · 26/03/2022 10:50

@rathernotshare

Been away a long time! Anyone else feel like time is running away from them now? I'm nearly 30 weeks, how did we get here?! I'm getting scared about birth now, especially as I've been told I might be induced at 37 weeks 😬 got gestational diabetes which really takes the fun out of things, imagine being on a diet while pregnant! Totally healthy weight too, just my dad has had type 2 for a year. Grateful to not have had any cravings!
Ah I've been diagnosed with GD too, been diet controlling it the past few weeks but had to start on metaformin today because of my morning readings 🙃 I've opted for c section so will find my date out in a couple of weeks but they've said it'll probably be 38 weeks.
MrsTwentyNine · 26/03/2022 11:00

@sunflower198 can I ask you if you measured big at 28 week scan too ? I am getting more and more convinced I'll have GD!

sunflower198 · 26/03/2022 11:22

@MrsTwentyNine he was estimated to be 2lb 9oz at the 28 weeks scan and was showing about the 50th percentile (my first son was 2lb 12oz at same scan and he was 9lbs 1 when born 9 days overdue (not GD)) so at the moment they were not concerned about this baby's weight. X

Prema112 · 26/03/2022 11:35

@4thtimethecharm I was so sorry to read your update, and to hear of the pain you've already been through with previous pregnancies. It just seems so unfair for you to have to go through more worry. I'm praying for you and your baby today, for health and great development and peace. Lots of love to you xxx

rathernotshare · 26/03/2022 11:36

@MrsTwentyNine ah yes still time then 🙈 it's ok to be honest not that much has changed it's just cutting out all the stuff we know isn't good for us anyway! No birthday cake for me this year ☹️

@beansprout55 yep exactly the same here! You would never guess looking at me that I had diabetes, and I was a bit offended to be honest, but I had wrongly assumed like many others that it's your own fault! It's completely hormones and genetics, but if you are overweight the hormones struggle more than they would otherwise which is why the test high BMI too. So don't beat yourself up if you have it! No medication yet and not changed my diet too much. My readings are fine but it does get worse over time - the test really pushes your insulin to the extreme and it's probably not a level of sugar I eat on a regular basis 😂 the diet is very different to type 2 though, they still recommend carbs just they have to be eaten a certain way

4thtimethecharm · 26/03/2022 13:42

Thank you all so much for your thoughts. We are having our scan Monday morning, and I will let you know how it went.

Letsbekindplease · 26/03/2022 16:25

@4thtimethecharm I really hope everything goes ok at the scan on Monday. Everything crossed for you all.

slowrunningteacher · 26/03/2022 17:24

I have a GD test on Monday. At my growth scan on Tuesday I was found to have slightly high levels of amniotic fluid, hence the referral. I would have thought that my BMI, having a Dad with type 2 & my age would have been enough for a test, but apparently not.
2 years ago there was confusion over whether I should have a GD test. My age then caused confusion and different midwives said different things. The cut off for my hospital trust seems to be 40, but whilst I was 40 in that pregnancy, I had conceived in my 30s (just - I got a positive test the day after my 40th birthday).
Now at 42 I was fully expecting a GD test 🤷‍♀️

Happy weekend everyone.

@DaimDillyDoo what a shock that must have been. For what it’s worth, I’ve heard heart conditions often crop up in pregnancy. My sister had heart block but it went away after she delivered - so hopefully it’s temporary. Either way, I’m glad you’re being monitored.

@beansprout55 Oh gosh. Glad you got an appointment but I understand why you’d feel awkward. I tell myself ‘we’re all women, we all have them and they’re pretty much the same’ 🤣

@JAR1981 Urgh. What a ridiculous system! I’m so cross for you. Is this a covid related change?

@RoseValleyRambles I’ve missed you! Welcome back. Thanks for the prayers!

Hello @rathernotshare too!

@4thtimethecharm I can’t imagine how difficult it is. Sending all the good vibes for you and tiny babe. Hopefully they’re just being extra careful and everything is okay. Keep us updated on Monday x

Flowerbug1994 · 26/03/2022 18:56

Has the tiredness hit anyone else like a brick wall ? Am 29+1 and for the past week I’ve been so so tired and not done anything out the ordinary.

Letsbekindplease · 27/03/2022 07:32

@Flowerbug1994 yes. I am so tired and have next to no energy for anything. My other child has all of a sudden decided they don’t want to get dressed or have the nappy changed in the morning and I have no energy to fight with them to get them dressed.

I’ve been really struggling with spd recently. I had it last pregnancy as wel as the pgp, which raises its ugly head most days too, but the spd is AWFUL. I have a feeling I need to go off sick from work but my work system that anything pregnancy related must be taken as early mat leave. What could I get out on a dr line to avoid this ? I’ve seen sick lines with literally just “back pain. “. Wonder if I should maybe just have that written

pregnancydiaries · 27/03/2022 07:58

Happy Mother's Day to all you amazing mummas to be who I couldn't do this journey without 💗 xx

Prema112 · 27/03/2022 08:32

Happy mummy's day all you amazing mamas!

Prema112 · 27/03/2022 08:45

The only year it is acceptable for your child to give you a kick as a present 😏

JAR1981 · 27/03/2022 09:14

@4thtimethecharm oh lovely I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this after everything you’ve been through. Sending you lots of love and positive thoughts for your scan tomorrow.

Octoblockisadick · 27/03/2022 09:25

Happy mothers day everyone! Anyone got any plans? We're just going round the in laws for a bit I think.

It's also my 30th today haha. My husband woke me up with "do you feel old" Grin. Told my almost 4 year old it's mother's day and mummy's birthday, she said "yeah I know, can I watch a video on your phone" haha.

RoseValleyRambles · 27/03/2022 10:17

Happy mother's Day folks! I am trying to persuade little one to give me a day off from bladder kicks as a mark of respect, but he's yet to confirm either way...

Vimto1991 · 27/03/2022 11:01

Happy Mother’s Day all!

I’ve had a bit of an emotional day, I think it’s just cause baby isn’t actually here yet, and DH is normally rubbish at gifts and cards 🙈
@Octoblockisadick happy birthday!! Hope you have a fab day. :)

@RoseValleyRambles haha I just had one! They make me go from feeling normal to I think I’m gonna piss myself to normal again all in one second. 🙈

Octoblockisadick · 27/03/2022 11:42

@Vimto1991 did he get you a card from baby?
I remember when it was mother's day when I was pregnant with my daughter my husband got me a card from her and I just burst into tears haha. I blame the hormones!!

Vimto1991 · 27/03/2022 11:43

@Octoblockisadick he did! But I did have to convince him a few weeks ago (he never buys cards) so I knew it was coming but I did cry when I got the card 🙈

PleaseSendNoodles · 27/03/2022 14:41

Happy Birthday, @Octoblockisadick 🎂

And Happy Mother’s Day to everyone else 💕

Littlemilomoo · 27/03/2022 15:02

Came home from work last night with a card and alcohol-free old mount cider which is my fave from bump and our dog and I sobbed for like 30 mins 😂

Happy Mother’s Day to all you lovley mamas and mamas to be ❤️
