@Vimto1991 I think that's for the best and what I would try to do too! I am weighing myself once a week but then just filing it away on the pregnancy+ app and ignoring it haha. I lost a bit when I had covid which worried me but it's back now! From what little I have read, it's more that not gaining enough weight might end up in baby being smaller (and they used to recommend women not to gain weight to deliberately have a small baby 🤦🏻‍♀️) but I think we're talking about quite extreme figures to impact - I saw someone said a while ago that baby basically takes what it wants and we're left with whatever's remaining so took from that that we shouldn't worry about them because they're sorting themselves out in there 😅

Vimto1991 · 25/03/2022 11:11

@mrkb yeah I’ve heard that, too in regards to the baby only taking what they need (it’s not like they’re eating my McDonald’s when j do lol)! when I had my thyroid concerns my consultant said at this stage they have their own, they’re just taking the parts they need right now, we just tend to overdo everything with pregnancy these days 😅

beansprout55 · 25/03/2022 11:40

Oh my gosh @DaimDillyDoo!! That's such a shock, so glad they caught that.
Hope you're ok. Take it easy xx

My hips also kill, I caved and asked for a physio referral today because when doing my kegals last night (I insert a finger to grip so I'm certain I'm doing it properly) I felt a lump on the back wall of the vag, like a bulge, and I panicked that I've had a minor prolapse. I phoned MW earlier and she didn't seem concerned at all and just said it's prob normal and the intense pressure I feel down there when standing is just PGP. I'm not convinced. In jersey we have NO private pelvic floor specialist physio, I looked online all last night and even asked the MW. So crappy hospital it is with probably a 13 week wait - oh that's when I'm due?

@Vimto1991 I really really want a maccy d's now. I over used the new app way too much early on because they always have offers. The tiny tiny burgers are so small though xxx 😂

beansprout55 · 25/03/2022 12:12

Urgh - I just had a hospital physio call me and she's going to see me next Friday, I should be grateful, but she's a patient of mine (dental) and now she's going to see my vagina. I'm so embarrassed Blush

fpeg · 25/03/2022 12:48

@DaimDillyDoo hope you're feeling ok after learning that but as @beansprout55 says thankfully they've caught it and so can treat it now.

@beansprout55 I really feel for you, I've managed to avoid client interactions so far but did nearly have heart failure when I went for my embryo transfer and the nurse was the absolute double of my neighbour- definitely wouldn't want my neighbour having seen my bits 😳

Pregnancy feels like you lose all your dignity 😂 (I'm naturally very reserved but IVF made me just have to "let it go" with the number of people seeing your bits!

AlbatrossSociety · 25/03/2022 13:34

@Vimto1991 I don't know how much I've put on because I haven't weighed myself since the booking in appointment. They took it once at 10 weeks, then again at 12 weeks and there was a 4kg difference between the readings. First one I had no coat and shoes and less clothing, and second one I still had everything on and the midwife actually told me not to take it off when I tried! Weight and weight to height ratio are not good measures of health and I'd say generally standard medicine is pretty far behind the most recent advice from actual nutritionists.

I had a free consultation with a nutritionist because I was starting to feel weight and body image issues crop up because everyone focuses SO MUCH on your body during pregnancy and just that chat was incredibly reassuring. I'd recommend it, if you can find a nutritionist who is supportive of HAES and intuitive eating. I did mention it to my midwife when I had a huge appetite and said I was worried about it and she said the worrying about it would do more harm than the eating and that keeping your body moving well and feeling good is most important.

@beansprout55 honestly it's her job, I think once you have seen enough vaginas they all just start to look like an ear or a nose or any other body part. I appreciate I'm probably too relaxed about this stuff but honestly I can't imagine she will think twice and I bet she won't even remember your vagina by the end of the day. Maybe you could share that you feel a little awkward about it at the beginning of the appointment and just get it out of the way? Tricky part of living in such a small community!

JAR1981 · 25/03/2022 13:43

Just remember @beansprout55 your bits to her will be just like her teeth to you 🤣

I’m so annoyed I just had to send a complaint to my GP surgery. They have a ridiculous policy where pretty much all appointments are by telephone. And it’s just a call anytime between 9am-6pm. If you miss it twice you have to reschedule. Well the first call today I wasn’t able to get out of a meeting fast enough, and the second I was mid-wee. Do they seriously expect a pregnant lady to sit by the phone for 9 hours straight without going to the bathroom? Or would they request I answer my phone mid-wee. They are refusing to call me back. So now I have had to rebook for the first available appointment which is next Friday. So it will have been a 3 week wait for an appointment just to get referrals to physio and mental health services. Argh!

Rant over now.

RoseValleyRambles · 25/03/2022 19:58

Back from a crazy week, and just realized it's been two! - I've missed you guys!

Sounds like the pregnancy struggle is real, from all the reports of PGP, nausea, and other stuff we're all just expected to endure... I've got an awful backache, for which I'm thankfully getting a physio referral, and am on prescription iron for anemia - walking anywhere before about 12 noon is currently off the cards I get faint so quickly. Interestingly, since I started taking them my insomnia has almost completely stopped - coincidence or not? Either way, I'm not complaining.

I'm also absolutely in love with my Babymoov Dream Belt, having wrestled with a few pregnancy pillows without much joy. I think it'll come into its own when I'm, a little bigger, but it's already starting to make a difference with minimal hassle when I want to roll over.

And in other non-important but SO IMPORTANT news, I just picked up some Close newborn reusable nappies. they are so small! SO SMALL! Dying from cuteness.

@Annabell1 Sorry to hear you had a scary hospital run in. Sounds horrid, but glad everything ended ok.

@Peeache2 I am with you on the tiny clothes. They are the best and I've gone a little crazy (thankfully on Vinted, so my bank balance isn't too badly burned...). Trying to resist tiny coathangers to go with them... Contact lens resistance is ridicuous and we should not have to put up with this sort of nonsense. Seriously, how many more curve ball symptoms can pregnancy possibly have up its sleeve?

@pregnancydiaries YOU HAVE THE TINY HANGERS. I love your nursery kit.

@Octoblockisadick Promotion congratulations! Well done for pushing for it despite LO on the way :) Thanks for the app recco - sounds super helpful.

@PleaseSendNoodles Glad to hear you're feeling ok about flying solo, but I will by praying you don't have to Smile.

@DaimDillyDoo Glad you've got some answers - sounds like a lot to process tho!

@beansprout55 Yey for getting seen, but that is a bit blush-inducing (and I'm quite bare faced about most things!).

Turniptracker · 26/03/2022 06:21

Anyone looking forward to the clocks going forward so they actually wake up at a more acceptable time of the morning Grin?

pregnancydiaries · 26/03/2022 07:53

Welcome back @RoseValleyRambles!

How could I resist, they are just so cute. These are the ones I went for (you won't be able to resist) 🤗

4thtimethecharm · 26/03/2022 08:01

So, this week was pretty shit. Recap: I lost all my previous pregnancies, one last year at the end of second trimester. They told us to try again, put us on loads of meds, etc. I am now almost entering third trimester in this pregnancy; it is the furthest we have ever gotten.

We had a concerning growth scan last week. A few days ago we knew the pregnancy would not be text-book, but we (and the FMU consultants) thought things were looking generally positive. Now, we have received new blood results, and they are suddenly talking about doing an amnio to check if baby is genetically ok. We are now heading back only days later.

DP and I both feel like we have been hit by a bus, especially considering our pre-history. We very much had hoped that this pregnancy would be our happy ending, and trying again makes limited sense (and I don't want to put us and our families through that again).

I don't know what you all believe in, but I would hugely appreciate some positive vibes/prayers for our baby, if you have the mental space for that.

Whatcanmyusernamebe · 26/03/2022 08:14

@4thtimethecharm so sorry to hear what you are going through. Will keep everything crossed for you and your baby. Sending all the positive vibes your way and praying that you get good news.

@4thtimethecharm I'm so sorry and sending all the best thoughts that it's nothing too scary 💞

rathernotshare · 26/03/2022 10:14

Been away a long time! Anyone else feel like time is running away from them now? I'm nearly 30 weeks, how did we get here?! I'm getting scared about birth now, especially as I've been told I might be induced at 37 weeks 😬 got gestational diabetes which really takes the fun out of things, imagine being on a diet while pregnant! Totally healthy weight too, just my dad has had type 2 for a year. Grateful to not have had any cravings!

MrsTwentyNine · 26/03/2022 10:23

@4thtimethecharm so sorry you're going through this, thinking of you

@rathernotshare I'm waiting for my GD results! Please could I ask if they said your baby was measuring big at 28 weeks? I measured 30cm at 28+2 so they've referred me for a growth scan! Though reading online some sources said 2cm either side was fine! Ahh :/

pregnancydiaries · 26/03/2022 10:30

@4thtimethecharm sending you so much love, hugs and wishes 💗 xxx

rathernotshare · 26/03/2022 10:32

@MrsTwentyNine they called me the next day to say I had it so if it's been a while, fingers crossed that means you don't have it! I think my bump was about 31 at 29 weeks, growth scan at 29+1 had baby at 3lb2oz, slightly big but not worryingly big!
