@CurryandSnuggle I got this post covid, things have since returned to their usual blocked up self 😂

PeeAche2 · 24/03/2022 15:29

I had a taste of my husband's wine last night....

You know in the Celine Dion video where she picks the candle up from the floor and runs down the stairs with it singing "it's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now..."

And then she shouts "baby baby baby baby" and the lightening starts flashing and she's thrashing around, clutching her heart and twirling in the moonlight...

Yeah. That's how it felt.

I can't wait to have wine again. 🤤

AlbatrossSociety · 24/03/2022 17:40

@PeeAche2 somehow that really made me want wine, I don't even drink very much when I'm not pregnant. I think you just conjured up such a good image!! Also haven't smoked in ages and now really fancy one.

I'm watching some positive birth videos on YouTube and feeling quite excited!!

destiEos · 24/03/2022 19:16

@AlbatrossSociety @JAR1981 @mrkb oh, that is good to hear. I hate sounding like a paranoid old bag, and I know I'll get it again, just not while pregnant, please!!

@Lostintranslatio don't feel bad! I'm doing to get some teeny nappies, just waiting to pick up some freebies first - I didn't make it to the shops today.

@CurryandSnuggle I had one iron supplement tablet yesterday and straight away: diarrhea. It can't be the cause though surely? Not happened since either and I had another tablet today..

@PeeAche2 I don't know the Celine Dion video, but now I want to see it! That was how I felt when I had a little glass of champagne on the flight a couple of weeks ago. It was amazing 😍 and @AlbatrossSociety I'm planning champagne and a cigarette after birth - I've earned both!

MrsNT · 24/03/2022 20:49

Does anyone know what happens at 31 week gp appointment? I was trying to book mine but couldnt get any female gps in that week. Do they check cervix or something like that?

PleaseSendNoodles · 24/03/2022 20:56

Urgh @PeeAche2 what a pain in the arse! I’d have been livid. Mine was annoying (and I feel a bit bad for being rude to the guy who called to tell me) but I can drop in anytime at the clinic to do it again. Not sure who was asking about who gets the GD test but they test everyone here because ‘Murica $$$.

Also now want wine after that great description 🤣

PleaseSendNoodles · 24/03/2022 21:01

Also @JAR1981 how was physio?

@destiEos Did you manage to get your packs?! Intrigued to know what’s in them.

@Lostintranslatio I definitely don’t think it’s too soon to buy nappies. You’re going to get through so many, makes sense to spread the cost / be prepared! Don’t let him spoil your fun 😊

Lostintranslatio · 24/03/2022 21:07

Thank you all!! I feel understood here 😂 He is the type of person that would go and buy in one go everything, and I'm enjoying getting few things here and there. Also spreading the cost!

destiEos · 24/03/2022 22:18

@PleaseSendNoodles I didn't 😢 We took the day off and send to the garden centre instead...it was the most lovely relaxing day I've had in ages. I am going to get myself to the shops though... One day...

Vimto1991 · 25/03/2022 05:15

I’d love a full night sleep 😭 my body is getting ready for the lack thereof already I think 😫

Prema112 · 25/03/2022 06:54

@Vimto1991 Definitely, I haven't slept through the night since sometime in the 1st tri, I'm up at least twice a night for the loo. But I know that's nothing compared to the amount of times a newborn wakes you up... 😬

yellowpinkbluegreen · 25/03/2022 07:05

@Vimto1991 @Prema112 same! Waking at least 3 times a night for a wee then usually wide awake by 6am!

Although I have to say I am feeling way more prepared for the waking up in the nights when baby arrives.

I've always been in the creative industry so bed at 1am and waking up no earlier than 10am used to be my absolute norm just a year or so ago 😂😂

pregnancydiaries · 25/03/2022 07:51

Also on the constantly waking up train, except mine is generally to change from one side to the other because my bloody hip hurts so much...then I become para I'm annoying the baby 😂😂

Vimto1991 · 25/03/2022 07:59

Kinda take solace in knowing it’s not just me then!! 😂
@pregnancydiaries yeah this is normally me! Sleeping on my left side makes my hip ache so bad, I get worried I’m constantly waking the baby and feel like I’m squishing the poor thing on my right. Then there’s waking on my back constantly and fretting I’ll lose the baby due to that!
Today I just couldn’t get back to sleep from 4:30 although I’ve had about an hours nap on the sofa 😅

pregnancydiaries · 25/03/2022 08:01

@Vimto1991 hahahaha ME TOO. Why do we feel so guilty when we lie on our right side, I last about 5 mins then end up back on my left in agony. I'm fairly sure right is totally fine too...xx

fpeg · 25/03/2022 08:11

@pregnancydiaries @Vimto1991 there's no evidence that one side is better than another, so rest easy that left or right are equally fine! All the studies look at what position you fall asleep in, not wake up in, so as Tommy's says don't stress about waking up on your back, just roll over and sleep easy (well as easy as is possible in pregnancy 😂). You definitely aren't squashing baby on either side, they're very well cushioned 💚💚💚

pregnancydiaries · 25/03/2022 08:17

@fpeg this is the type of Friday morning motivation I needed, thank you ♥️

Don't think it helps that I've been completely bed bound the past 2 days with an IBD flare so feeling guilty that I'm pretty much constantly lying down on my side. Trying to sit up but that just ends in me slouching and panicking I'm on my back....OH THE GOOD OLD PREGNANCY ANXIETY! 😂

Vimto1991 · 25/03/2022 08:23

I hear you on that anxiety but thank you @fpeg for that, that does make me feel so much better. I’m thinking of getting a U shaped pillow to better my sleep and stop me rolling and waking as much. I have a shape but think it gives my body room to wiggle and move. 🙈

Lostintranslatio · 25/03/2022 08:34

I sleep on both sides with no guilt 😂 I read there's no evidence that sleeping on the right side is bad for the baby. Still getting aching body though (hips, middle back...)

DaimDillyDoo · 25/03/2022 08:47

I went to my GP after having palpitations/dizziness/high heart rate and I was referred to maternity triage. Baby is ok thankfully however they've picked up I have a heart condition! I'm having a monitor fitted and prescribed beta blockers.

I'm also anemic... 😂😳

It's kicked me into gear to start getting things sorted.

Vimto1991 · 25/03/2022 09:48

@DaimDillyDoo oh wow! Sorry to hear but also same time glad they’ve picked it up fast! Hope you’re okay and can be well monitored now. :)

Also- I had an odd/sour experience on Tuesday. I was in the cardiology ward and they weighed me. I joked I’m heavy at the moment due to pregnancy and the nurse asked my starting weight. I didn’t know and guessed 73kg for her to tell me I’m now 91kg and I’ve gained too much weight. I told her I’ll let my midwife decide on that (not sure she should be passing judgement really). I’ve come to check my badger notes app and my starting weight was 81kg - I had taken my coat off and my midwife took off a bit to allow for shoes, whereas the cardiology ward didn’t let me take my coat or shoes off and just took the number it read as 91kg. Even still, it’s around 10kg weight and I’ve just read that’s kind the maximum they expect you to gain the entire pregnancy.
I have no idea if I should be concerned, I spent the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy with my thyroid being too under active so inevitable weight gain, and it also makes it difficult to lose weight. The NHS website says you shouldn’t really diet either so… I guess I’ll cut back on crappy foods and hope for the best? 😫

MrsTwentyNine · 25/03/2022 09:52

Just had 28 week appointment and baby measuring over 97th centile! Anyone else ? 🙈

JAR1981 · 25/03/2022 10:03

@Vimto1991 @pregnancydiaries I am exactly the same with my hips all night. They are so sore, in fact the past week or two it doesn’t go off in the day anymore.

@PleaseSendNoodles physio yesterday was really helpful. I thought my lower back/glute pain was spreading from my hip issues but turns out they are not and my pelvis is instead coming out of alignment around my sacrum. So she’s given me exercises to do and I need to get a Swiss ball to bounce on and do pelvic tilts every couple of hours when working. Plus physio weekly for the next 3 weeks. I felt AMAZING immediately afterwards yesterday but then super sore by the evening we she warned me might be the case as pregnant women can react more to physio initially. However she really seemed to know her stuff so trusting her to improve my pain for now!

Bad news is, physio can’t help the hip pain as it relates to side sleeping and the fluid pocket around the bony bit of the hip becoming inflamed if it isn’t cushioned enough. @vimto I am also wondering if a u shaped pillow would be better than my c? Just not sure how my husband will fit in bed with it too! 🤣

@DaimDillyDoo what a drama! Good they’ve picked it up though. I guess they’ve also put you on iron supplements for the anemia? My midwife said yesterday that my iron levels are coming back up well now after 4 weeks of supplements.

mrkb · 25/03/2022 10:13

@Vimto1991 that would really upset me too. I'm trying not to think too much about weight (and actually no one has mentioned it to me since booking) as I know it's irrational for me to think about gaining so much weight when it's literally a baby being grown (!) but I don't think 10kg is the maximum - the nhs says most women put on between 10-12.5 but everyone is different and, like you say, you've had your thyroid being under active. I do think it sounds like that person was really inappropriate! Plus I always thought you were meant to weigh yourself naked after going to the loo first thing in the morning so if it was me I would definitely disregard that measurement!

Vimto1991 · 25/03/2022 10:20

@mrkb yeah my midwife hasn’t spoken about weight once since booking! I may mention it to her as I have another appointment with her in two weeks, just to see what she thinks. It’s difficult as I’ve avoided knowing my weight as I struggle with weight and body issues. Like you said, we are growing a baby so it’s expected! I just went down a rabbit hole that more weight gain can cause complications. 😩
I’m just gonna try to ignore her comments and see what midwife says!
