@mrkb great news about the scan! So nice and reassuring to hear the sonographer encouraging phoning etc too, it's so difficult not to feel like a burden isn't it.

Thanks for the feedback re NCT. We are booked in and its nice to hear good feedback. Although im slightly worried at how late we've left ours as our first class won't be until we are 32weeks....xx

ChildOfFriday · 23/03/2022 18:26

I'll be almost 35 weeks before our NCT classes. They're over a weekend (2 full days), with an evening Zoom class on breastfeeding beforehand. I was expecting a 'once a week' format but apparently not! I'm worried they're a bit late but they were the ones marked as ideal by the website when I put my due date in and booked.

mrkb · 23/03/2022 18:51

Thanks for the replies! I've had 2 urine tests with leukocytes but pleased to see it isn't auto UTI so will trust that no news is good news. My m/w team has been a bit disjointed and not followed through on a few things so I do worry but equally I don't feel like I have a UTI!

My NCT classes are weekly and the last one will be at 32 weeks but I just booked the ones the website recommended haha. It's nice to chat to other women who are going through the exact same stage & in the same (or nearby) hospitals so can compare experiences IRL but particularly nice I think for DH to chat to other dads-to-be. Also a great space to find stuff out that I hadn't thought of before and subsequently ask questions I wouldn't have had otherwise! Really enjoying them :)

AlbatrossSociety · 23/03/2022 19:23

It seems like there's a range with NCT, my first one will be at 32 weeks and last at 35 with 2 Sundays and 3 Tuesdays haha. I'm excited but my husband's a bit nervous about meeting everyone I think and feeling like there's pressure to make friends and he's worrying about the friendships being forced. I don't think it helps that we moved in October and he's not met many people locally so it feels like a big deal whether we end up being friendly with people or not. Ultimately like you say @mrkb it's just nice to be around other people who are going through the same thing at the same time - hence this group!!

mrkb · 23/03/2022 19:32

@AlbatrossSociety I felt the same - I'm not really the most out there/meet new people person but everyone is just normal - like you say, just like this thread! DH is very antisocial haha but it's so nice seeing him chat to the others - I think it gives him a space to be involved for once rather than just watching me being pregnant (if that makes sense).

We did our JL baby day on Saturday and almost everything arrived over the last couple of days which is also exciting and another milestone in this all feeling real (though now we have a car seat and a pram system in our one bed flat that we don't need for 10 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️). I got home to DH having set up our snuzpod though and he was so proud! I had a little glimpse into him in 'dad role' and it melted my heart!

CurryandSnuggle · 23/03/2022 21:21

Bubba loves baths 😍 watching my stomach doing the Mexican wave. Her movements are so big now! ❤️ It’s crazy to watch but I love it haha

Octoblockisadick · 23/03/2022 21:47

Awh @CurryandSnuggle watching the belly ripples are just amazing haha.
Mine just almost kicked my brew off my belly! Good thing I had hold of it, it jumped about 2 inches haha.

CurryandSnuggle · 23/03/2022 22:43

lol @Octoblockisadick that is hilarious! 😂 aww I do love this part of pregnancy ❤️

Annabell1 · 23/03/2022 23:12

@EarlGreywithLemon Thanks a lot, good to know I'm not alone. :)
I had another scan today and baby is on the 22nd percentile for weight compared to the overall population (26th percentile on my chart). But the sonographer wasn't worried at all. I was also a small baby, so it could run in the family.
@destiEos I will also keep looking. Maybe I will find something a bit more affordable or I may just take some pictures myself using a tripod. ..Same here, have to get my hair done first as well. :D
@MrsNT Thanks for the recommendation. I will try FB. Glad you found someone.
@AlbatrossSociety & @yellowpinkbluegreen I hope you get well soon. X
I also bought a few Isabella Oliver maternity dresses on vinted. Got some really good deals.

Vimto1991 · 24/03/2022 00:41

@mrkb
I had leucocytes in mine yesterday but I was run ragged running from appointment to appointment and had forgot to drink that morning, the midwife said that explains it and left it at that. Had you drank much before each sample?

PleaseSendNoodles · 24/03/2022 04:21

Hospital rang on the way home from my glucose test. They ‘did it wrong’ and I have to go back and do it again.

So glad I drank 10 teaspoons of sugar and say for an hour for no reason 😐

Clomid1 · 24/03/2022 06:40

@mrkb @Vimto1991

Like Vimto mentioned I also had luekocytes in my urine at 6 weeks pregnant. My GP who was a trainee went a bit over protective. Put me on a course of antibiotics straight before getting lab tests back and made me take an STI test (she said it was more than likely I had one, and as I have been with my husband for over 10 yrs i was in total shock) 🤦🏾‍♀️. Honestly it was all because I had not drunk enough water in the end. Learnt my lesson always drink a lot before all hospital appointments.

mrkb · 24/03/2022 07:10

@Clomid1 @Vimto1991 really good to know as that was 100% the case I think - both were first thing in the morning and for one of them I'd completely forgotten you need to do it so hadn't drunk anything after my morning wee and could barely get anything in the pot 😂 will relax now and ensure I'm well-hydrated next time!

pregnancydiaries · 24/03/2022 07:14

Ladies, how many newborn sleepsuits are we going for? I want to make sure I have enough but also don't want to buy too many as they grow into 0-3months so quickly!xx

EarlGreywithLemon · 24/03/2022 07:20

@pregnancydiaries I think we have about 9 from our daughter - three packs of 3. That seemed about right at the time so don’t think we’ll get more.

PeeAche2 · 24/03/2022 07:58

@PleaseSendNoodles OMG. I would be so cross.

My hospital only do glucose tests on Saturdays and they start at 8am. Since mine is an hour's drive away, I had to go at 6.45.

On Saturdays, I have my step children. Their mother won't budge on this, and my husband works. He's self employed so if he takes the day off, we lose about £900. Saturdays make up most of his income for the week.

With my upcoming mat leave and possibilities of him missing weekends when the baby is born, we didn't want to lose out on so much money so we scrabbled to find childcare.

I drop the children with a good friend at 6.30am on Saturday morning, and then whizz over the hospital. I put £8 on the pay and display because they'd told me I'd be here many hours. I sign in. I sit down. I wait. I wait. I wait. I wait. At about 8.50 I politely enquire about my appointment starting soon and they tell me "Oops, we're short staffed. Can you come back next weekend?"

I say no. I explain my situation. They say they only do Saturdays except in extenuating circumstances. Apparently mine are not extenuating enough.

I drive home. I collect the kids. I call back Monday and cancel without rebooking.

So, I'm now on strike. I've told my midwife, she needs to fight for me to have a Friday booking or I won't have the test. 🤦🏻‍♀️

yellowpinkbluegreen · 24/03/2022 08:23

Covid update - tested negative the next day so think I got out of covid pain free! So just to reassure anyone else scared of getting covid it was weirdly all fine and I must've had a few days before that were asymptomatic!!

I did however have fluey like symptoms yesterday and really achy back but turns out that's a UTI 😖 So got antibiotics for that now phew! 4th UTI this pregnancy 😬 🙈 anyone else getting lots of UTIs??

AlbatrossSociety · 24/03/2022 09:15

@PeeAche2 that is SO annoying!! Hope your midwife puts up a good fight for you.

If anyone was interested in learning more about the pelvic floor and exercises, the lady I did the workshop with is called firsttofourth.yoga on Instagram and you can get access to the recording of the workshop on her website. I really enjoyed it and found it so helpful. It's not the same as going to physio for a personalised experience BUT also less expensive 😅. I sound like an ad but just genuinely improved my understanding of those muscles and the birth process so much.

destiEos · 24/03/2022 09:42

@Octoblockisadick I've downloaded that app as well, I haven't even opened it yet! But I'm going to, I swear. Also Squeeze Time, as those were the two free apps and as I correctly surmised it might be a waste of £2.50 to get the NHS app seeing as my commitment is low

Going to try Tesco and Boots today to get all my freebies - thought I'd go to one for Bounty and one for Emma's so I don't look too greedy 😬 Hope they have them in stock..

@PeeAche2 congratulations! That's very exciting 🥳 I ended up with 2 dresses as over lockdown I found a second one I loved(I did wear both though!) I was planning to sell one or both, but I can't bear to, they are so beautiful 🥰 Might just keep them and get married again in a few years.

@JAR1981 and @Annabell1 there's a local WhatsApp group I asked on and one of the mums-to-be on there has said that she does photography and would love to take pics for £100 - you get to keep all of them and etc. Which is perfect! The photos look nice too, normal everyday rather than angelic gowns and baths of milk, which is what I was after. Getting hair done on Sunday, finally - whoo!

@mrkb I believe the GD tests are for older/high BMI mums to be, not sure which category (both?) I feel into. But pretty sure Trusts differ in who they give them to as well. I'd just ask your midwife about the urine result - I heard nothing after my GD test, although I got the results same day. I had an appointment booked in with the midwife a few days later and she booked me in with the hospital on the back of my test results - going in on Monday. (Replacement midwife, mine was away this week - probably just as well 😬)

Also have a travel system in boxes in our little study/nursery that we have to squeeze part to get to desks every morning 😂 We're thinking of using the bassinet on the wheels for during the day, it's not as good as a moses basket, but we're running out of space! Still haven't built the snuzpod, had it over a month now - and would have been cheaper to buy it now as they have a sale on 😤

@MrsNT I'm booked on that course this Saturday! Thanks for the remind I'd actually forgotten to put it in my calendar.

@pregnancydiaries think I have 6-8 sleepsuits too and have held back from buying any more although they are SO DAMN CUTE, I want to buy them all 💕

@PleaseSendNoodles and @PeeAche2 that's proper crap, sorry to hear - hope second attempts are more successful for you both.

@yellowpinkbluegreen glad to hear you're feeling better!

I was feeling better about the NCT/Baby bump classes after everyone's comments but I read a frankly terrifying Mumsnet thread yesterday about people testing positive on the weekend and then going to work on Monday, where the general consensus was that was absolutely fine. So now I'm less confident about mixing with a group of random people. Please reassure me that mums and dads-to-be wouldn't turn up to a class after testing positive 🥺

AlbatrossSociety · 24/03/2022 09:55

@destiEos I've only just had 2 negatives on day 10 and I'm only just coming out of isolation. I would never have gone into an enclosed room with others while positive, let alone with other pregnant women! I obviously can't speak for everyone but have just got to assume that others would show same level of common sense.

JAR1981 · 24/03/2022 10:01

@destiEos I’m hoping that the vast vast majority of pregnant people are being cautious about COVID. I think the reality is, even if you don’t get particularly ill - if either the woman or her partner has COVID when going into labour then we have to birth alone. So hopefully that’s enough to ensure that people who are going to NCT and 30 weeks+ are gonna take precautions. At least that’s what I’m telling myself!

@PeeAche2 @PleaseSendNoodles sorry for your crappy GD test experiences. Peeache your midwife should definitely be fighting for you after that!

I have my first pregnancy physio appointment at lunchtime. I cannot wait! I may have built it up too much but seriously hoping she can get rid of some of the pain in these hips.

Lostintranslatio · 24/03/2022 11:26

I got the GTT done because I said to the mw that my dad has diabetes and she said that in case of family history they will do it. I don't know how that can qualify as family history when he only got it a couple of years ago once he got over 65 (and in fairness, he never took much care in his weight or healthy diet).

I did the online shopping yesterday and for fun I order a pack of newborn nappies, and my partner thought I was insane for getting them so early and I felt terrible after 😞

mrkb · 24/03/2022 12:11

@destiEos our NCT leader has encouraged us to test (and said that she's testing every week for them) and both last week and this week we had couples who didn't come because they'd tested positive and/or had symptoms so I've definitely got a sensible bunch in mine. Our local area are also running catch-up sessions so that you don't miss out which I think also will encourage people to keep testing! Hopefully that reassures :)

I also saw that MN thread about people going to work positive 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I would hope that generally pregnant women & partners will be a bit more serious than the average member of the population!!

sunflower198 · 24/03/2022 12:43

@Lostintranslatio I don't think it's too early to be buying nappies! I've been adding them to our food shops for the past month or so 😅My son has just come out of nappies so I've just switched buying his to buying tiny ones!

CurryandSnuggle · 24/03/2022 12:49

Bit gross but is anyone else experiencing diarrhoea? It’s been happening for a week now. I read it happens when labour is near and I’m like whaaaat?!! I’m only 30 weeks tomorrow 😂
