@BunBun221 aww bless you, I can imagine that being worrying. Could you contact your hospital/midwife and say you’ve had a private scan but baby is measuring small so they can check at the hospital and put a plan in place if needed.

Vimto1991 · 21/03/2022 09:48

@BunBun221 my baby measured around 34 percentile at 20 weeks. Hospital not concerned about size in the slightest, just means a smaller baby than 66 people, but both DH and I are smaller than our friends (5’4 and 5’7). I don’t think private should be commenting things like that and leave that up to the hospital, but you could always raise it with your midwife if you feel concerned.

@GrowBabyGrow thank you!! Yeah I can get pain in my bum, too! I’ll raise it with my midwife tomorrow and see what she says can help. :)
Regarding your comment about lying on your back, I’m 28+5 and my bump is huge so rolling is a challenge-somehow still manage it. 🤣

CurryandSnuggle · 21/03/2022 09:48

@Clomid1 aww little girl ❤️ I’m due 3rd June xx

DaimDillyDoo · 21/03/2022 09:54

Is anyone else experiencing a really fast heart rate and palpitations? I've had them on and off for a few weeks now. Even my Apple watch keeps sending me alerts to say my heart rate is really high even though i'm not doing anything.

My whole chest goes tight with it and uncomfortable with it but i'm not sure if it's because it makes me anxious when it happens!

Also had a nosebleed this morning.

I called the GP, she said to ring the midwife but cannot get through... hoping it's one of those pesky pregnancy symptoms!!

JAR1981 · 21/03/2022 10:57

@destiEos fibogel is a softener so I don’t think can cause the other effect. And lactulose I just take the minimum dose before bed (makes me bloated if I take in the day). If you’re struggling I would definitely recommend. I’m taking small doses as a preventive measure since I do NOT want to be where I was around 18 weeks 😬. Also on the obaby maya mini - IKEA do a 120x60 mattress to fit this and it’s one of the top rated on Which?

@BunBun221 call your midwife however as someone else said it feels off that the private scan would pass comment at 37%. That’s perfectly in the normal range your care team will only likely require additional tests/scans below 10% or above 90%.

Someone asked a Q about how many sleeping bags we need a page or so back. I am wondering this too!

We had a big weekend splurge and ordered our pram, car seat, snuzpod and carrier this weekend. It’s starting to feel more and more real!

@unknownscot have an amazing holiday!

Is anyone else having/thinking about having a maternity shoot? It’s my birthday in April and am thinking about it as a present from hubs. It feels a bit extravagant however in my case this is highly likely to be my only pregnancy and I’ve been so anxious for most of it I’d like something to look back on with positivity to say I actually did it once LO is here.

Flowerbug1994 · 21/03/2022 11:05

Just a quick one for anyone getting GTT this week I’ve been for mine this morning and they said that due to Covid they are not doing full test just fasting blood test so i didn’t need the drink or to wait they just took my blood along with my 28 weeks bloods and sent me on my way they said I will hear if I have it by Wednesday/Thursday but no news is good news. May just be my trust (Liverpool women’s) but it’s good to know.

annie1994 · 21/03/2022 11:24

@Flowerbug1994 my trust is the same as yours. Apparently they only do the proper GTT if you have Diabetes or had GD before. Otherwise it’s just a normal diabetic blood test done by your community midwife.

destiEos · 21/03/2022 12:03

@PleaseSendNoodles - unfortunately the anusol is now in regular use Blush thus my asking about the various softeners. I'm pretty sure it's the iron supplements - everything went back to normal when I stopped taking them and now....disaster again. So gross, isn't it?

@hellointhereand @GrowBabyGrow - I'm generally worried about the covids :/ I've had all the jabs, and the virus and I really think being pregnant is hard enough without being ill as well. Going to stay distanced during B&B, I'll see how spacious the place is and yeah - ask if windows can be opened I suppose...

@Flowerbug1994 - GTT - that's what another mum-to-be I know had I think, but I had the full test last week, so it might be by area..

destiEos · 21/03/2022 12:38

@JAR1981 think I may invest in the fibogel - seeing the midwife tomorrow though, so thought I'd wait in case they want to give me it on prescription. Yup saw they have a few 120x60 just not all of them, we can suffer with a restricted choice - the Green Sheep ones are lovely, but £200+ Shock

I've also been thinking about a maternity shoot and feel a bit ridiculous - but in the same boat - almost certainly only baby I'll be having and there's about 3 pictures of me pregnant - all in jumper and coat, so you can't really tell if I'm just fat :D If anyone has any recommendations that would be grand!

fpeg · 21/03/2022 12:50

@destiEos post covid issues I went the opposite way and blocked up. I've been taking lactulose 25ml once a day and it's really helped things get more back to normal! I started on 10ml/day and built up until I had the effect I wanted (I was definitely nervous of it making things travel too well 😂). Hope this helps

PeeAche2 · 21/03/2022 13:23

Today (thanks to MN) I learned about a thing I've never heard of before called a "push present".

I don't think the idea of a gift for your partner to celebrate your first born is a silly idea. But I think the name is hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

destiEos · 21/03/2022 14:24

@fpeg i honestly think i would have welcomed 'the other way' around week 18-20. Now I'm gutted everything was going fine until I restarted the vitamins! Even extra spicy fajitas last night have had no positive effect :D

@PeeAche2 what if you don't push(c-section, epidural) do you still get one?!

PeeAche2 · 21/03/2022 14:57

Forceps Favour
Section Souvenir
Epidural Endowment
🤷🏻‍♀️

Mumof2tobe · 21/03/2022 15:25

@PeeAche2

Forceps Favour Section Souvenir Epidural Endowment 🤷🏻‍♀️
Grin haha love it!
pregnancydiaries · 21/03/2022 17:35

@destiEos @PeeAche2 my partner tried to pull the whole "you're getting a section" card when I mentioned the world of push presents...that one didn't go down so well 😂

destiEos · 21/03/2022 17:43

I don't care what it's called as long as there's some diamonds in it somewhere Grin

pregnancydiaries · 21/03/2022 18:12

Started building the nursery furniture this weekend and I'm standing here crying hanging up his wee clothes 🥺

@pregnancydiaries I can imagine that wouldn't go down well, I'd be fuming! I'm a first time mum so haven't had any kind of birth but it still drives me absolutely nuts when people think a c-section might somehow be easier.

I'm sorry, I'm about to go on a bit of a rant. I had a consultant appointment last week which I thought was because I had a back injury a couple of years ago, but turns out it was just because I'm considered high risk because of my BMI. It ended up being a telephone appointment but the consultant seemed so confused when I mentioned my back, and then was also a bit baffled as to why I was there. She said 'well I suppose your weight isn't ideal', and I said 'I'm short, muscular and have big boobs, I'm working with a physio and a nutritionist who are both happy with my health' and she said 'yes the BMI is a very blunt instrument and that all sounds good, happy for you to be transferred back to midwife led care'. I just think it's so stupid that I was sent for an appointment with a consultant on an arbitrary measure that just isn't an accurate representation of health in any way? Seems like such a waste of resources. I also just HATE comments about my weight and body, and feel like I'm probably not alone in that!?

Prema112 · 21/03/2022 20:51

@PeeAche2 Haha yes I remember seeing a programme about some women who were choosing diamond rings for their 'push presents'!

I think we should all get a 'pregnancy prize' right now

Prema112 · 21/03/2022 20:58

Awwww @pregnancydiaries I'm sure I'll be blubbing too when I get out all my sons old baby grows- so tiny!! ❤️❤️

Prema112 · 21/03/2022 21:00

@BunBun221 37 percentile sounds fine to me- my baby was 25 percentile for most measurements at 20 week scan and they weren't concerned at all

Letsbekindplease · 21/03/2022 21:23

@BunBun221

Went for a private scan at the weekend, and they asked me when I'm next having a scan with the hospital as baby is growing quite small... apparently he's in the 37th percentile.

Heartbeat was there okay at 130 something but she seemed quite worried about his size which has been bothering me ever since.

Despite the fact I have a huge preggo belly I have somehow only gained 0.4kg this pregnancy so far (I'm 26weeks)

Along with PGP I have had high blood pressure which I read could affect babys growth and I suffered very very badly from morning sickness between weeks 10 and 15 and could barely keep anything down so I'm pretty sure I lost a lot of weight. Anyone else measuring quite small?

Aw that’s awful. I should really moan about it, but it really irritated me. I think because people play the system and they aren’t encouraging mums to be home. Well done you for saving so much to be off.

On your other comment of the hip pain. I have pgp and it’s my right hip. I just try to not walk as much and I have physio soon. It’s awful. Hope it eases soon

I’ve just had my blood results back and have low iron. Looks like I’ll be another member of the constipation gang lol

Annabell1 · 21/03/2022 22:36

I also had a full GTT last week. Luckily it has been negative.
@JAR1981 & @destiEos I would also love to do a maternity photo shoot. The only pictures I have of myself pregnant are bump pictures my OH took or selfies.. Only thing is that every photographer I like is super expensive (>£700).. debating what to do.
My midwife was a bit concerned about my fundal height today, which was only 5% so I will have another scan this week. Last week she measured fine so I'm not too worried.
The fundal height seems to be a bit of an old-school measurement to me. Anyone else had a low measurement, but baby measured fine?

PleaseSendNoodles · 21/03/2022 22:55

@BunBun221 I was similar to @Prema112 - until very recently, babe was only 17th percentile. The hospital wasn’t worried at all. Said anything above 10 and below 90 is considered normal! She’s now jumped up to 47% which is pretty much exactly average. So I honestly wouldn’t stress if everything else seems well x

EarlGreywithLemon · 22/03/2022 07:41

@Annabell1 I kept having low fundal height measurements in my first pregnancy, but she always measured fine on the follow up scan. I worried before the first one, then I just took it as par for the course for the next ones Grin She was born weighing on the 50th centile.

For sleeping bags, we got away with two 1 tog and one 2.5 (which we very rarely used) - and she was a very vomity baby. That was in winter so we’re now starting with the two 1togs and one 0.2 and will see how it goes!
