I've woken up in full blown organisation mode. Im 27 weeks today.
Is it too early to wash clothes for baby? Or shall I wait bearer the time?

Octoblockisadick · 20/03/2022 09:48

@imhereforthecake I can't see any harm in washing them, but personally I would wait a bit longer.
I've sorted out all the small bits and put them in a kallax, and I'll just wash them in a few weeks.

I've got all the 3-6m stuff in a bag at the bottom of the box, then newborn/ 0-1 / 0-3 on top, smallest nearest the top.
Vests at the front, babygrows at the back.

@imhereforthecake I have washed all the stuff I have bought so far. I was able to empty two big drawers of our closet and I wanted to put away the baby clothes already washed. I have done same as @Octoblockisadick, organizing clothes by size, putting at top of the pile the smallest.

fpeg · 20/03/2022 10:06

Just catching up and wanted to say congratulations @Octoblockisadick and lots of hugs to you @PleaseSendNoodles 💚

@pregnancydiaries it took me a while but I'm pretty sure it's an auto correct from contraception 😂

Happy a Sunday everyone! Hoping to get away on a short baby-moon next weekend (last opportunity for us) but very much depends on hubby's workload, so may not happen. Fingers crossed it does though as I'd like a last little holiday where it's just the two of us. (He runs his own company and a couple of big contracts are coming to fruition meaning he may not be able to take the time out 🙁)

destiEos · 20/03/2022 10:26

@Flowerbug1994 yep same here - no pattern except wakes up late at night (often when I'm asleep!) and chocolate/sugar seem to wake him right up!

@Lostintranslatio I'm in the Mama Mio Pregnancy gummies, stopped them for a while and constipation went away - whoo! But have restarted as I figured I'd better use them up, and then blood results suggested I was low on iron too, so am having fruit every morning with breakfast and am considering buying something over the counter to loosen things up if I need to..

@DaimDillyDoo the bloody White Company is so lovely - and so expensive! I went in day before yesterday and bought pyjamas that are the softest stretchiest thing in the world - in a size medium 😮 Probably the only thing I bought in the last 4 months that isn't L or XL - I put them on as soon as I got home, I'm wearing them now and I'm going to put them in the wash so they're clean for tonight 😬 @EarlGreywithLemon thanks for orange juice tip - will add that to routine!

@JAR1981 would you recommend the fibogel/lactose, want to get something but not sure what would help without going too far the other way, as it were 😉

Re: GTT, I was talking to a fellow due-mum and her test was completely different to mine. She had the drink at home - small amount and apparently disgustingm then went in an hour later to get her blood drawn. I had to go in, have blood taken, drank a large-ish perfectly ok drink, waited 2 hours then had blood taken again.

@InvisibleDragon I'm going to have a mocktail or 2 next week - weather's turning all Spring-like on Tuesday!

@Letsbekindplease you should go back to work then develop a 6 month post-labor illness 😉 Seriously though, that sucks - sorry 😢 just read @pregnancydiaries and I honestly think it might be worth doing..

@Octoblockisadick awww, cute baby clothes!!!! Going to go through mine today and decide how many more I need - I've only bought newborn stuff so far, so hopefully he'll be very 'newborn sized' 😂

Finally decided on Oyster3 - only to find that some places have the new magnetic 5-point harness and others have the older one and no idea what we'll end up with... Also we went to two more shops and tried the car seat and there is an actual issue with removing it, we and the staff had problems with it in all 3 places we went to. Still getting it though 🥳

Decided on the Obaby Maya cot having more seen the snüzcot in person - lovely but doesn't look worth the ££. And had decided on a non-nursery chest of drawers from JL which is now out of stock 🥺

I hadn't realised how much shopping was involved in baby-prep! Anyway, happy Sunday everyone, lovely to read all your updates and thanks for meeting me bore you with mine.x

PeeAche2 · 20/03/2022 10:40

I have my most messed up pregnancy side effect so far. I can't wear my contact lenses anymore! 😢😢😢 My eyes have changed shape due to being with child (wtf?) and my lenses are now causing me discomfort because they "are fitting too tightly". I went to the opticians yesterday because I was so worried, and he's told me it's CLARE and to just reduce my lens wearing down to the bare minimum.

FML.

pregnancydiaries · 20/03/2022 11:47

@fpeg @Letsbekindplease it's definitely contraception isn't it? 😂 there was me thinking we had a James Bond amongst us xx

MrsTwentyNine · 20/03/2022 12:07

@destiEos @Octoblockisadick sorting out how much to buy in the various sizes here too! It's so hard as we don't know what size they'll be ?! Friends keep telling me not to buy too many newborn sizes as they outgrow it so quickly. And how many sleeping bags do we get...and 1 tog for summer ? This whole thing is a true minefield!

Also, how many packs of nappies is everyone buying ? Silly question I know but what is a reasonable amount 😂

Clomid1 · 20/03/2022 12:11

@CurryandSnuggle also having a little girl. When is your due date again, mine is 18th June.

Rolledthedice · 20/03/2022 12:37

Hi all, so many updates, I’ll have to go back and make sure I’ve read them all - sorry if I missed any big news.

@Octoblockisadick congrats on the promotion!

@PleaseSendNoodles I’ll keep everything crossed that your partner can be home in time for birth. You sound like a very strong person, there’s no doubt you will be able to do it.

@Letsbekindplease that is indeed a rubbish maternity policy! So sorry they don’t offer you more than that.

@destiEos I’m also considering the Obaby Maya cot bed, mainly because I love the scandi look. But I’ll have to find drawers that fit underneath.

unknownscot · 20/03/2022 12:42

We're heading abroad this week for a baby moon - actually can not wait! After that it'll be baby organising time. I have one pack of vests and one outfit 😂 so shopping time soon although trying to hold off until the baby show at the end of April x

Rolledthedice · 20/03/2022 12:43

Is anyone else NOT doing NCT or in-person local classes? I was signed up to NCT but still don’t feel comfortable spending 2 hours in a room where nobody wears a mask, as covid rates are quite high round here. Plus my mum friends said they spend hardly any time on how to change nappies, look after baby etc (focus is more on labour and birth) - which is what my partner and I want to learn!

I’m considering pulling out and getting a refund but not sure what online options exist instead? Seems like an expensive way to essentially get a local WhatsApp group. Any advice for online alternatives?

Rolledthedice · 20/03/2022 12:45

@unknownscot ooh have a wonderful baby moon! 😄 Where are you off to?

We are having our last little holiday at the moment, spending a week in the Peak District. Currently in a rural cottage surrounded by sheep. 😅

unknownscot · 20/03/2022 12:53

@Rolledthedice
I'm not doing any classes, I'd recommend the online free classes from the baby academy. I did the baby care one, which you might find helpful.

We're going to Tenerife for a week, sunshine bliss and lying by the pool with mocktails. Heaven!!

Rolledthedice · 20/03/2022 13:05

Thanks @unknownscot, I’ll check it out. 👍🏻

Ah Tenerife will be amazing! 😁 Enjoy relaxing in the sun with those delicious mocktails! 🍹

Prema112 · 20/03/2022 15:59

Ooo enjoy your pre baby holidays ladies, such a great thing to do!

Is anyone else feeling ridiculously exhausted? My DH thinks I'm putting it on, I can literally do about one thing a day in the morning and by afternoon I'm pretty much done in. Having naps almost daily. My iron levels are fine. I want to do lots of baby prep but all my body wants to do is sleeeeeep...

Lostintranslatio · 20/03/2022 16:16

@Prema112 same here. My energy levels never picked up after first trimester and insomnia is making it worse. GP told me not much I can do about it and rest as much as possible 🙄🙄

We had a babymoon/holidays last week and it was awesome. Aldo in the Canary Islands, so plenty of sun and heat and relax ❤️

Prema112 · 20/03/2022 16:30

@Lostintranslatio Sounds perfect!! We've got a week with my in-laws in Yorkshire which will have to do for our babymoon 😂 At least there will be lots of rest there

destiEos · 20/03/2022 17:05

@Rolledthedice same here, love the scandi-look! Probably going for the 2-piece Maya set although the changing table is pretty big for our little room, not sure whether to get the standard or mini cot either, we were all set on the mini, then found we have limited mattress options for 120x60cm. I take it back, I've just realised Obaby do their own mattresses! And they have under-bed drawers as extras: www.obaby.co.uk/shop/furniture-ranges/white-range/120-x-60cm-under-drawer-white/

Re: NCT - the NHS did free online antenatal classes where I live: 3 sessions from 10am-2:30pm. They were very good, if a bit of a long day.. Still doing Bump and Baby though.

We dragged ourselves to Westfield again and did manage to buy the Oyster 3 today - whoo! We actually got the display set, which is in perfect condition and in the cherry colour, which I am very happy with. Oh and magnetic 5-point harness thingy, which makes a world of difference

@MrsTwentyNine I'm going to lay all the clothes out and see what I have tonight. I think enough, but best to check 😉 As for nappies I've still not picked up any free packs, so was going to wait and see how many freebies I get!

@unknownscot and @Rolledthedice enjoy your babymoons!

@Prema112 and @Lostintranslatio I am knackered every day around 2-3pm. I just take an hour's nap, or power through till 4:30pm and nap then. I'm loving being able to sleep in the day 🥰

PleaseSendNoodles · 21/03/2022 01:24

Thank you for your kind words, @fpeg @CurryandSnuggle and @Rolledthedice. I know if I have to, I CAN do this by myself. We women are pretty tough 💪🏻 BUT I’m not giving up hope on him being back just yet 💕

Im envious of all of you who’re going on babymoons! I hope you get yours, fpeg!

This is not a real moan… because I’ve been so lucky so far with a lack of pregnancy sickness/discomfort but …omg. Piles are the worst 😩 anyone else suffering or is it just my holding ice cubes to my bum? 🤣

fpeg · 21/03/2022 07:30

@PleaseSendNoodles I had diarrhoea with covid and then developed piles which was just super uncomfortable. Fortunately for me it's settled right back down again now that things are back to normal but has taken about 3 weeks to do so. I hope your experience is similar to mine in that it just calms down again. Whilst it was there it was a great incentive to practice hypnobirthing techniques when I needed to go though... breathe it out 😂

Vimto1991 · 21/03/2022 08:10

@Letsbekindplease
My job offers no mat pay so I get 6 weeks 90% and then like 9 months 150 a week. I saved up £8k to have this kid, but if we want a second I’ll need to find a new job that offers me maternity pay as I won’t have the savings to back me up unless DH takes paternity as I earn more than him. :(

Also guys, just in York for my birthday and all I will say is if you plan on getting a hotel (with a few of you talking about baby moons) bring a pregnancy pillow!! I tried to wedge pillows to stop my rolling and help my back but it didn’t help. Woke up every hour 😫😫 the bed is much firmer than at home which doesn’t help. DH got a lovely nights sleep 🤦‍♀️
Going to wear my support belt for my back and stomach today but how does everyone cope with hip pain whilst walking? Could I have that pelvic girdle pain but felt in my hip?

hellointhere · 21/03/2022 08:55

@Rolledthedice I have been considering cancelling my NCT booking because I'm nervous about being indoors with a group. I'm still undecided because I want to be prepared but not especially interested in group setting.

Is anyone else worried about sleeping on their back and somehow constantly waking up on their back? I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it's stressing me out a bit.

I'm quite late to this response but I have gained about 9kg and I'm 26 weeks.

BunBun221 · 21/03/2022 09:29

Went for a private scan at the weekend, and they asked me when I'm next having a scan with the hospital as baby is growing quite small... apparently he's in the 37th percentile.

Heartbeat was there okay at 130 something but she seemed quite worried about his size which has been bothering me ever since.

Despite the fact I have a huge preggo belly I have somehow only gained 0.4kg this pregnancy so far (I'm 26weeks)

Along with PGP I have had high blood pressure which I read could affect babys growth and I suffered very very badly from morning sickness between weeks 10 and 15 and could barely keep anything down so I'm pretty sure I lost a lot of weight. Anyone else measuring quite small?

GrowBabyGrow · 21/03/2022 09:29

@hellointhere I'm having the same worries about Bump and Baby classes. We've been so lucky that neither of us have had covid yet and really don't want to get it when pregnant! I'm going to check with the instructor on how they will be keeping it covid safe (open windows, distancing etc) and if they aren't doing anything I think I will cancel.

I've been waking up on my back too! The Tommy's sleep on side webpage says the position you go to sleep in (ie your side) is the one held for the longest time and if you do wake up on your back then just roll over. I found that quite reassuring. And it isn't until 28 weeks that it is strongly recommended to not lie on your back for long. I figure that at the rate my bump is growing by 28 weeks I'm not going to be very manoeuvrable in my sleep Grin

@Vimto1991 hope you are having a lovely time! I was looking up about SPD/ pelvic girdle pain at the weekend as my bum muscles have started to be really sore. Like they would be the day after doing lots of squats at the gym. And it seems like any pain in the hip/bum/upper thigh area during pregnancy can be connected to the pelvis not being stable.
