Hello... have tested positive for covid this morning (28+2) and slightly worrying.. how has it been for all of you?

I also am unvaccinated (no judgements please 😉) but would be good to hear anyone else who's been in the same position?

Baby is wriggling away so I'm taking that as a good sign.. is protocol just to call midwife? Supposed to have midwife appt and 28 wk scan this week.. do you think they'll have to be postponed? 🤔

Thanks ladies xxx

AlbatrossSociety · 22/03/2022 08:02

@yellowpinkbluegreen I've had two jabs plus booster so not sure if my experience is totally relevant but I tested positive a week ago. I had a couple days that I spent mostly in bed, lots of coughing and a really sore throat. I now just have a mild cold but am still testing positive so haven't been able to go back to work yet.

Yes, call your midwife and let them know. My midwife didn't seem worried but in my area they send you out a little thing to measure oxygen saturation and if it's low you have to go in. Mine hasn't been so they have had no concerns. I think you will have to postpone your appointments, I had a consultant appt last week which they changed for a telephone appointment.

@Letsbekindplease - already feeling the difference with only a few weeks back on the multivitamins...am going to ask midwife for recommendation today and pick something up on the way home.

@Annabell1 paid nearly 2k last year for wedding pics (which seemed reasonable for an 80-person full day wedding-shoot, but less so when it turned out to be a 10-person covid wedding-shoot!) so I'm not wanting to spend that(£700) sort of money. Nowhere near in fact, a couple of hundred would be my absolute max. I haven't looked at all though...planning on getting my hair done first Grin

Just an update on movements at 30 weeks (tmw) from me in case it's helpful for anyone.

I've been having lots of movement everyday since 27 weeks and it's become more rolls and pokes and less kicks. Yesterday I think I had less movement. He was still moving but it felt reduced. I was out all day so being busy meant I wasn't monitoring it as much but in the evening I made sure I lay down until I counted 10 movements, my finger poised over the triage number. If I hadn't had good movement in the evening I definitely would have gone straight in.

Todays he's been moving non stop. So I suppose they still have quiet days in the third trimester, but I would definitely go in if I had no movement at all over 2 hours or reduced movement in the evening (his busiest time) Hope that's helpful to someone!

Prema112 · 22/03/2022 10:33

@yellowpinkbluegreen Sorry to hear you've got covid Sad I was fully vaxxed so a bit different but they put me on blood thinners, definitely let your midwife know. Hope it's mild for you x

@AlbatrossSociety omg, I love my MIL but she makes me really angry. When I was considering an elective/VBAC she said “isn’t it nice you can just choose a section”. And makes it seem the easy way out. It’s major surgery and I felt like I’d been hit by a bus after my first c-section with only paracetamol and ibuprofen, trying to lift baby etc. Even egen I had my first via section, she was like “at least you didn’t have to give birth”. Like somehow c-section is an easy way out. Even when I’ve tried to correct her, she refuses to accept it because she felt her own vaginal deliveries were so painful a c-section must be easier.

A part of me hopes my VBAC goes to plan so that I can tell her actually both are just as difficult deliveries in their own ways with more conviction!!!

Someone was looking for info on sleeping bag to ratings. I found this online which I found helpful:

Australian sure but the principles are the same

Ladies when do we decide the birthplan with midwive on NHS? Is it at 28 week appt?

MrsNT · 22/03/2022 10:53

@annabell1 i was looking for photographers for a newborn shoot and narrowed down to 2 who are both less than £100
Have you got a local fb group for ypur area? Post on there and lots of recomendations including freelance photographers will most likely comment on it. Thats how I found mine. Based on abailability ill go with whoever is available out of the 2 i narrowed down

@pregnancydiaries

Started building the nursery furniture this weekend and I'm standing here crying hanging up his wee clothes 🥺
That is such a beautiful wardrobe @pregnancydiaries. The one we got doesnt have any shelves inside and i could really do with a shelf in it. Will need to make a trip to b&q to pick up a wooden shelf and put it inside
**@destiEos* @Octoblockisadick* sorting out how much to buy in the various sizes here too! It's so hard as we don't know what size they'll be ?! Friends keep telling me not to buy too many newborn sizes as they outgrow it so quickly. And how many sleeping bags do we get...and 1 tog for summer ? This whole thing is a true minefield!

Also, how many packs of nappies is everyone buying ? Silly question I know but what is a reasonable amount 😂
@mrstwentynine

I think ill buy 2 weeks worth of stock in one go. So say baby uses 10 nappies a day thats 70 for a week and 140 for 2 weeks so stocking up based on that basis?

@MrsNT I think birthplan really varies from trust to trust, at mine they do it at 30 something weeks.

I was told not until my 36 week appointment! Feels very late but apparently it's because so many things can change quite late on. Still I was a bit shocked. (I asked at my 28 week appointment)
Vimto1991 · 22/03/2022 13:10

@MrsNT I was about to ask the same thing! 🙈 I had my 28 week today and got another appointment at 30 (I’m always +6 on these appointments), and no talk about birth plans yet.

MrsNT · 22/03/2022 13:12

I downloaded birth plan template from nhs website and also from instgrams mommy labour nurse. So wasnt sure if we take our own or midwife will give one to fill out?

@DaimDillyDoo
Could be anxiety or possibly iron levels? Or just pregnancy. We are pumping a lot more blood around our hearts these days. You can always ask your gp, with you being pregnant they should want to check everything’s fine quite quickly. :)
I was waiting from May for a consultant due to palpitations and now I’m third trimester they are rushing all my appointments 😅

Octoblockisadick · 22/03/2022 13:37

Re birth plans, they will discuss at around the 36 week appt.
There isn't specific paperwork or anything, you just write what you want in whatever format you prefer.
Definitely worth thinking about before the appt and just going through what you want and why, and asking any questions at the appt rather than thinking about it then for the first time.

destiEos · 22/03/2022 14:51

Just had midwife appointment(29 weeks tomorrow) and no birthplan made, discussed a few bits regarding wards and stuff - at my request though.

I do have GD apparently, so more appointments at hospital and will have to take regular blood sugar tests :( ...And an iron deficiency - the midwife said I should stop the multivitamins as I shouldn't take any more folic acid and replace with Iron, Vitamin D and Vitamin C. Just checked and my vitamins don't even have iron in them Confused Right, I'm buying 200mg iron sulphate tablets and sticking with the multivitamins for C,D and the rest of it - extra folic acid is fine from everything I've read.

Baby is apparently 11th centile for growth - so quite small, although he was 41st centile beginning of December according to the scan - midwife said nothing to worry about though...so I guess see what the next measurement shows.

There was a lovely moment when the midwife dopplered for the heartbeat when she said the machine must be broken - not something you want to say to someone waiting to hear the baby's heartbeat! But found eventually and he's fine, bless him Bear

I'm knackered...

Has anyone bought any summery maternity clothes? I bought a maternity/nursing dress from Next in my usual size & it’s enormous! Like I could go at least 2 sizes down it’s that huge. I need to find something to wear to a wedding in May but haven’t had much luck looking online.

fpeg · 22/03/2022 15:55

@aus12 I bought a couple of nice dresses from seraphine. Very comfy to wear and fit is on the whole true (I did buy one that was enormous, so I returned it).

PleaseSendNoodles · 22/03/2022 16:50

@aus12 and @fpeg I got a load of dresses in the Gap sale. I live in a hotter climate though so will hopefully get wear out of them! But I totally agree, they say ‘order your usual size’ but everything comes up massive!

Just doing my glucose test… 😴

I have three weddings - one dress from arket (non maternity), one from hope & ivy (maternity) and one from m&s (non mat)

PeeAche2 · 22/03/2022 18:42

I'm "getting married" at 37 weeks.

I'm already married, but it was a lockdown wedding, so we organised a big event with humanist vows for June. Then I got pregnant. Deposits are paid and I hate losing money so I'm just going to suck it up.

So yeah, I'm buying a maternity dress of some sort for this summer. I don't have much choice. The dress I wore to get real-married in 2 years ago is not going to fit me. 🤣

GrowBabyGrow · 22/03/2022 21:58

I've bought most of my maternity clothes secondhand from Vinted and got some lovely bargains!

My BIL and partner said they 'might' do a spontaneous wedding this summer so bought a nice Seraphine dress just in case because I saw it on ebay. It's breastfeeding-friendly so figure if they end up getting married after baby comes it'll still work.
