I hear you guys on the emotional front. I have a week annuals leave next week for my birthday, plan on decorating the nursery. However, I’ve been on a long ass waiting list about palpitations I had last year (which have improved since February), but now they’re saying as I’m pregnant I need to be seen ASAP and now I’m booked in with a consultant and to do an echo cardio gram at different times on Tuesday. I’m grateful I’m being seen, but mad it’s like they’ve just realised I’m pregnant 28 weeks later, but I’m also so sad it’s one day out of next week when I should be decorating my babies room. I have no annual leave other than maternity after this. :(

Vimto1991 · 18/03/2022 10:13

@Babyno21990 I’m hoping for gas and air and a water birth. I’m having that as my plan but if it doesn’t go according to plan I will try not to worry or be upset. I agree, no one talks about low mood or anxiety in pregnancy. I suffered before pregnancy and now it’s amplified I’ve found I’ve needed therapy to help. Really hoping when the baby is born I can focus on them and not my mind for once!!

4thtimethecharm · 18/03/2022 10:29

@Babyno21990, I am just going to go with whatever. I honestly have learned by now that whatever plan I have for my pregnancies and body, the universe will do something else. The one thing I am writing down is that if I give vaginal birth, I want to push in a position that I find comfy (not on back), and that I want delayed cord clamping.

unknownscot · 18/03/2022 11:46

@Vimto1991

Sorry to hear you're upset about the appointments clashing with decorating. Bare in mind that the baby will be none the wiser if the room isn't quite finished by the time they arrive.

I know many people want the nursery finished but, in the grand scheme of things, the baby just needs you. You'll be fab.

I had to have an echo last week, so don't be too concerned about that. It didn't take long

X

Vimto1991 · 18/03/2022 12:06

@unknownscot thank you for your kind words and reassurance, really needed this morning!!

this is true about the baby not caring lol! Baby will be in our bedroom for the first six months so none the wiser. Maybe this is just nesting emotions 🙈

I hope your echo went okay! Glad to know it doesn’t take long. I was a bit shocked to suddenly get an appointment for one but she did say don’t worry, because I’m pregnant they want to do all the checks as I’ve had palpitations since May and have very limited time left so crossing my fingers I’ll be okay 😅

DaimDillyDoo · 18/03/2022 13:05

@beansprout55 Thank you for the kind words. It's a really crap situation isn't it? DP's daughter is 8. MIL has often told me how involved she was during his ex's pregnancy, she was even there when his ex gave birth! I have not heard from her in weeks. I keep mentioning it to DP, as it's clearly bothering me, but he just says "don't worry about it, stuff them" but it doesn't make it hurt any less. I've always been second best in their eyes!

@MrsNT I've been suffering with really bad heart burn since about week 18. It still wakes me up shooting up my wind pipe and then the next day, I have chronic indigestion and can barely eat all day. Omzoprezole has worked and GP is happy to put this on a repeat prescription for me.

I'm another one just going to wing giving birth... I'm the type of person who stresses out if things don't go how I planned. I fear that if I create this idyllic birth situation in my head and it doesn't go to plan, it'll make me anxious which won't get the birth off to a good start. I just want to be comfy, I will take whatever drugs and I will look into some hypnobirthing and take it from there...

unknownscot · 18/03/2022 13:47

@DaimDillyDoo

I'm with you with the anxiety if things go off plan. Even if I'm due to go to a certain shop and have to go else where my anxiety kicks in. I have really bad anxiety and have been to CBT and on all sorts of drugs/courses.

I've signed up to the positive birth company hypnobirthing and hope it helps me find my calm.

Everyone is different, and everyone's calm is different.

I think as long as my partner is solid with my thoughts we will be okay.

I have a heart condition so open to anything as long as me and baby are healthy

Morning All, is anyone finding they are getting more like rolls and turning movements than actual kicks. I feel like there’s not as many big boots but he is trying to move his whole body more. Am 28+1 xx

Clomid1 · 19/03/2022 10:03

@Flowerbug1994 yep thats what I get too. I am 27 weeks. Maybe its okay as long as baby moves?

DaimDillyDoo · 19/03/2022 10:06

@Flowerbug1994 yes me too I'm 29+4 :)

I had a scan the other day and they said she's laid on her side with her legs up against her head! I guess they get in some crazy positions in there!

beansprout55 · 19/03/2022 10:16

@Flowerbug1994 me too. 26 weeks tomorrow and assuming all is well!! Still get quiet days and more active days x

Vimto1991 · 19/03/2022 10:17

@Flowerbug1994 yep same here 28+3! I did get a bit of a wallop this morning but mainly just rolls. Wonder if they turn and boot our backs lol

pregnancydiaries · 19/03/2022 10:36

Oh @Flowerbug1994 I am so happy to see you ask this question this morning as I am the exact same. The kicks just aren't as strong but lots of rolling. Sounds like there's a few of us so hopefully completely normal. 26+5 xx

Flowerbug1994 · 19/03/2022 10:58

@Clomid1 @DaimDillyDoo @beansprout55 @Vimto1991 @pregnancydiaries Use don’t know how relieved that makes me. I’m finding movements to be the most stressful and anxiety filling part of pregnancy roll on June when we evict them all out of our wombs and worry about keeping them alive 😂😂 I’ve had a good 20ish movements in the last hour of varying degrees from a couple of kicks to low down to rolls to movements high up. I think it’s so hard when they say by 28 weeks you’ll have a pattern… my child seems to do what he wants when he wants to and follows no pattern at all 😂😂 xxx

Lostintranslatio · 19/03/2022 11:55

Ladies any recommendations on iron supplements? The midwife told me to start taking iron supplements from week 28 on and she mentioned Galfer, but reading online it seems to cause bad constipation and that is the last thing I need right now 😂😂

DaimDillyDoo · 19/03/2022 12:52

I just came into town for a mooch around... went into The White Company and had a look at their baby bits... £30 for a newborn dressing gown... what on earth 😱😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 19/03/2022 12:58

@Lostintranslatio I’m just taking bog standard ferrous sulphate 200mg, which is what the midwife gave me. I’ve been taking it with a drink of orange juice and I try to also eat lots of fruit and veg, and some dried fruit. So far no constipation, though I am prone to it.

Lostintranslatio · 19/03/2022 13:06

@EarlGreywithLemon I'm also prone to it and surprisingly I've noticed and improvement during pregnancy so I don't want to ruin it 😂 I will check for some standard supplement as well, thanks!

EarlGreywithLemon · 19/03/2022 13:16

@Lostintranslatio I don’t normally have smoothies but I started having one every morning in the first trimester because they really help with nausea. I wonder if that might be why I haven’t had much constipation? I did in my previous pregnancy.
But taking the iron with orange juice is on medical advice - apparently it helps with absorption.

Annabell1 · 19/03/2022 13:33

Yes same here, lots of rolling around. At the moment she also likes to be in a transverse position.
@Lostintranslatio Before pregnancy I was on 2x200mg ferrous sulphate. But one tablet is probably better in terms of constipation. :) I have also tried Hema-Plex previously, which is really good and gentle on your stomach.

Octoblockisadick · 19/03/2022 15:57

@Flowerbug1994, @Clomid1, @DaimDillyDoo, @Vimto1991, @pregnancydiaries me too with the rolls. I also seem to keep getting a bum sticking out. I had a foot sticking out above my belly button the other night, that was a weird one! Not a kick, just a slow pushing out like he was stretching.

@Lostintranslatio not tried them but heard good things about the spatone sachets.

I've bought a breast pump today, and I'm going to ask my midwife on Monday about syringes for colostrum harvesting. The hospital midwife said although they don't recommend it until 36 weeks there's very little evidence for that, as some women feed an older child throughout pregnancy. So she advised to start collecting if I have colostrum and feel comfortable doing so.

I've also decided I'm going to try some cloth nappies and wipes. I know a few of you are going to do it, has anyone got any tips or brands?

MrsTwentyNine · 19/03/2022 17:36

I can't tell what the rolls vs kicks are and just can see my stomach pulsing
Silly question but how do you know what a roll is Grin Can anyone describe the sensation? Also I have no idea what position he is lying in! How can you tell? I'm 27+3...

MrsTwentyNine · 19/03/2022 17:37

Constipation is a side effect of all iron supplements sadly - for whoever it is that asked. Some people can also get diarrhoea!
