Actually the only thing I’m undecided on the Snoo is the fact that when you have to pick the baby up, you still have to stand up, bend down and pick up, it’s not like one of these next to bed cribs where you can just reach and grab the baby. So I’m wondering if I go for the snoo, would I also end up needing/using a next to me crib. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Coco9910 · 01/03/2022 18:46

@Danani I think we’ve decided to book a private scan but just waiting to find out if 6 days is too short a gap between scans so hopefully will hear back from the clinic tomorrow. The excitement that I may find out my baby’s gender this weekend is making me wanna burst!! Did you find out your baby’s gender?

Danani · 01/03/2022 19:26

@Coco9910 ahhhh it’s so exciting isn’t it! Fingers crossed they give you the go ahead and you get to find out sooner!
Yes, we did! We went for a scan at 16 weeks and found out we’re expecting a little girl 🥺💕💕💕

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 01/03/2022 19:46

@Danani I had the same worry re: having to lift baby in and out. I suspect I'll do a mix of co-sleeping and SNOO, although might end up buying a next to me anyway! We are also having a little girl - feel like this group is girl heavy 🥰

@Coco9910 I can't see that there should be any limit on the number of ultrasounds you can safely have - it's non ionising radiation and totally harmless. But I am open to being corrected - I am neither a paediatrician nor an obstetrician...

Coco9910 · 01/03/2022 19:53

@Danani oh amazing!! 🥺🥰 That’s so exciting! Congratulations! 💕

Coco9910 · 01/03/2022 19:54

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou everything I can find on the internet agrees with you, but I’m looking at window to the womb and they say they recommend 2 weeks between scans but take each case as it comes. Part of me wishes I’d just booked it now and not emailed them 😂

purpleskyssssss · 01/03/2022 20:28

Hello ladies glad to see more people getting them 20 weeks scans and everything being on track!

I have started buying stuff now and we have chosen our pram so will put deposit on that this week 😬

I can't stop thinking about what baby will sleep in when a new born, I've brought some sleeping bags but I reckon they will be too big to use once he's first born!

Does anyone have any idea what sleeping bags they will buy/ what togs etc - don't know why it's taking up so much of my time trying to decide - I personally don't want to use a blanket just because I know how anxious I can get and feel I would just struggle to sleep if used a blanket

Effram · 01/03/2022 20:41

@purpleskyssssss We had 'gro snugs' for newborn, or I had some from the snoo company I think it's called... they're just mini sleeping bags but you can swaddle with them too, arms in, or can unpopper to release their arms!

But also I co-slept with both of mine in newborn stage so would just use a cellular blanket over their legs as they would be warm and snug with me :)

Effram · 01/03/2022 20:44

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I love sleeper trains so much! Ideally alone but have done a few with my boys and they sleep great on them too!

I've seen those SNOOs but haven't met anyone in real life who's had one so I eagerly await the reviews! We have a bedside crib (bedside table extension) but as I put above we co-slept but I did like when they occasionally did go down in crib having them right there. x

paintfairy · 01/03/2022 21:12

@purpleskyssssss I bought some snuzpouches (2nd hand, 2 1 tog and 1 2.5 tog) but the minimum weight is 8lb 8. So I've now also bought some tommee tippee sleeping bags (you can use them as swaddles also) that you can use from 7lb. I got 0.5, 1 tog and 2.5 (again 2nd hand). But I haven't bought loads of each in case the baby doesn't like them. If it does then I'll get more later. 🤷‍♀️

ShellUK09 · 01/03/2022 21:31

@missv556 yes I was the same putting off buying big stuff until after the 20 week scan. We looked at prams and car seats in the shop the other day and were bamboozled! But we will get there, just need to do more research. We have a very small car so we can't really get anything too big pram wise. I think we can get everything cheaper online but just want to suss things out in the flesh before purchasing. I like the look of the next to me cribs. Most people have said babies don't really need much stuff, but it doesn't feel like it when you go in the shops!

NamelessBaby1 · 01/03/2022 21:39

Scan went well today thankfully, although baby was taking its time about turning over to let the scanned see everything and I had to do the hip wiggle / turning onto my side etc to get it to move! Was lovely as I felt what I thought was movement and my partner said he saw it move on screen at the same time, so now I definitely know that's what I'm feeling! Also got a great view of the face and it looks so cute!

Celebrated all going well by booking tickets to a baby show in April, lol. Will hold off buying any of the bigger things till after that I think!

Coco9910 · 01/03/2022 22:39

We are waiting until the 20 week scan to but the big stuff. All we have so far is the Angel Care bath seat as it was half price in Aldi. We are borrowing a Next to Me crib off my sister and just buying a new mattress so that’s one of the “big” purchases sorted. I don’t even know whetted to start with prams! 🤯

@NamelessBaby1 So glad your scan went well today! And you could associate the baby moving with the feeling! Bet that’s so nice to kinda have that confirmation 🥰

missv556 · 02/03/2022 08:07

@Danani I was the same when movement first started, felt like muscle twitches and I was uncertain if it was baby or not. But I started to feel it daily from that point so I knew it was him. And it's become stronger, definitely feels like he's kicking or punching me at times lol and it feels quite weird sometimes as well, like it makes my belly turn over like when you're driving and go over a dip lol.
I'm going away for my birthday for a week, leaving Saturday. Just a caravan up north but it'll be my last time going away before my alien arrives so it's a birthday/babymoon trip. My first trip anywhere since covid so very much looking forward to it

Mattieandmummy · 02/03/2022 08:23

@purpleskyssssss Gro do sleeping bags for newborns or they used to. I think they're owned by Tommy tippy now so maybe it's changed.

strawberrysummer19 · 02/03/2022 08:35

I've just tested positive for covid ☹️
My daughter has had it since Monday and I tested negative Monday and Tuesday
I'm 19 weeks - just calling my midwife x

MsBubbles85 · 02/03/2022 09:14

@strawberrysummer19 I had covid with mild symptoms (headache, congested nose, very tired) when I was 16 weeks pregnant and baby is fine. I have had my 20 week scan and everything was fine with the baby.
I know it is worrying as I was a rollercoaster of emotions that week but as the midwife told me, now after the 3 vaccines and having covid I have a lot of antibodies!

Danani · 02/03/2022 09:25

@missv556 thanks for sharing, lovely! I felt those twitches last night a couple of times when I went to bed...so now I'm on high alert to notice when they are and how do they feel! I really hope it's baby, I'd hate to be so vigilant and for it turn out it's just gas or something. LOL!

Your upcoming trip sounds wonderful! Hope you have a lovely and relaxing time!

@strawberrysummer19 ohh no, I'm sorry huni, that must be scary, but I too want to reassure you that a couple of my pregnant friends had it, and it was mild and everything was fine with baby. Hopefully your midwife reassures you, and you don't feel poorly!

WotsitMum · 02/03/2022 09:28

On the subject of sleeping bags, my first was born in the winter so was a no brainer to buy them but we didnt use them untill about 2/3 months as they didnt fit, before we used them we just swaddled with a blanket, then summer came and he just slept in a vest and a thin blanket if needed. Oppicite season baby this time and sleeping bags were somthing i thought i dont need to get, i was thining just some large muslin blankets and thin blankets to swaddle as it will be too hot for anything else?

NamelessBaby1 · 02/03/2022 09:28

@missv556 hope you enjoy your break! I'm just back from a few nights away, which involved a plane journey and I'd been quite nervous about it, but it was all fine and it was great to get away.

@strawberrysummer19 hope it clears up soon, thought I had it this morning as I'm feeling awful but still getting negative tests so must just be a bad cold. Try to get plenty rest! X

WotsitMum · 02/03/2022 09:31

@strawberrysummer19 i had covid at 16 weeks, i felt quite poorly for a few days and spent the week mostly in bed/on the sofa, had my 20 week scan last week and baby is all healthy! Midwife said its better to have now and not in 3rd trimester as that is when the risks are higher. Hope you dont get too poorly with it, stay hydrated and have plenty of rest x

ClareBear36 · 02/03/2022 10:42

Hi All,
I’m new to this group and expecting a baby girl on 4th July! Smile

I was wondering if anyone had suffered really bad with colds and flu. I feel like I have been constantly ill from about 10 weeks and it’s really getting me down and messing with my mental health!

I know your immunity can be rubbish when pregnant but as it’s my first I can’t help worrying all the time! My 20 week scan went well which was such a relief but really struggling now to snap out of this low!

Any advice would be great - I’ve tried all the usual things - healthy eating, upping vitamin D, lots of fluids but nothing seems to be helping!

strawberrysummer19 · 02/03/2022 12:01

Thanks ladies

I'm hoping I have mild side effects! Moving house tomorrow 🙄can't believe the timing

I've been prescribed blood thinning injections for 2 weeks
Midwife was quite reassuring
Daily calls for 2 weeks and she said any concerns to call and if needed I would still be seen if any major worries - any bleeding pains etc so just hope it passes

X

purpleskyssssss · 02/03/2022 12:20

Thanks ladies I will have a look @Effram @paintfairy @Mattieandmummy

Mattieandmummy · 02/03/2022 15:01

Just had my 20 week scan, all fine and another girl for this thread! We already have a girl so my DH is going to be well and truly out numbered!
