@Peters27 my midwife said it would be issued at my next appointment (28 weeks - I think you have one at 25 if it’s your first) but just to book another appointment sooner if work asked for it. Would be impossible at my 20 week scan as my hospital and midwives use different systems that don’t talk to each other!

Coco9910 · 26/02/2022 21:42

What’s everyone’s opinion on philadelphia soft cheese (it’s pasturised). Made a “no bake” cheesecake with it and now wondering if I can eat it or not!

KizboBaggins · 26/02/2022 22:00

@Coco9910 absolutely fine according to my midwife (I asked explicitly because I love it!)

KizboBaggins · 26/02/2022 22:01

@Peters27 I was told I'll get it at the 25 week appointment too, not the scan. My work have said they don't need it before then

Coco9910 · 26/02/2022 22:37

@KizboBaggins amazing thank you!! Not to break it to my partner that he will have to share the cheesecake 😂

purpleskyssssss · 27/02/2022 06:48

@Peters27 I am a FTM in the UK, my work and OH work need to know about pregnancy and maternity and paternity arrangements no later then 15 weeks before due date - so I rang my community midwife team and they did it and I collected it the next day

missv556 · 27/02/2022 07:37

I've been told that I get my matb1 form at my next midwife appointment around 25 weeks. My fiancé's employer also need it by that time to process his paternity leave.

Can't believe I'm 20 weeks today! Officially halfway now, it's going so fast. Got my scan tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait to see my alien again

Peters27 · 27/02/2022 08:09

Thanks everyone for all the replies-ill remember to ask to for it at my 25 week appointment so!Yep I was same @purpleskyssssss I have them told since 14 weeks but they said just give form whenever I get it!Thanks a million again

CaptainCarp · 27/02/2022 11:33

Your employer will need the mat1B form by 25 weeks if you are eligible for maternity pay. My midwife appointment isn't until 26 weeks & i can't book earlier as they only come to the docs every 2weeks & I'm away on a course that week.
So i phoned the docs & they said the GP would sign it off. They were meant to ring me when it was ready though & that was 3 days ago. I'll have to chase that up tomorrow.

Anyone struggling to get maternity clothes in stores?! 😩
Spent all of yesterday in Glasgow trying to find maternity clothes & the only shop that had anything was primark and apparently they think pregnant people want to spend all their time in joggers or wet look leggings 🙄
Absolutely hate buying online but I'm gonna have to bite the bullet & do it 😩
Found nice jeans on new looks website so hoping they work out for me 🤞🏻

SPea · 27/02/2022 11:52

@Lianna93 New Look jeans have always been my go to, so they were the first place I looked. I bought a pair of the maternity ones with the stretchy waistband (not full bump ones yet) just before New Years so that I had something "smarter" to wear and they've been pretty comfy for the odd occasion!

Lianna93 · 27/02/2022 16:35

@SPea New looks my go to for jeans too - I'm just rubbish at buying online cos I always forget to return things if they don't fit or I don't like them 🙈
Would be so much easier to buy in store but that seems to be impossible right now. Swear, before I got pregnant I could always find a maternity range in store 😂

Hah, I was in town the other day just looking for a wee jumper or something and Primark was the only place I could see any maternity clothes at all, and like you say it was all howling haha. Obviously you're just supposed to dress like a slob when you're expecting!!

Glad I'm still getting into my normal leggings at the moment, and have plenty of loose/ baggy tops that I'm getting use out of before I really need to start trying to find new stuff!

Lianna93 · 27/02/2022 18:23

@NamelessBaby1 the Primark range was rotten 😂
I'm currently living my life in leggings - which I absolutely hate 😩😂
Praying new look do me good with jeans 🤞🏻😂

Hello everyone, just catching up!

AppleTree16 · 27/02/2022 20:55

For those looking for jeans / trousers, I’ve found a pair of Seraphine and Isabelle Oliver black jeans on Vinted. £5 each and both of them basically brand new condition!

annie1994 · 28/02/2022 11:22

Hello everyone, does anyone else get really achey between their legs/ groin. It’s making it hard to walk, turn in bed, stand up etc!! Is this pelvic girdle pain?

Also getting a lot of round ligament pain in my tummy. Was hoping it would be better second time round but it’s worse!

paintfairy · 28/02/2022 12:28

@annie1994 yes I've got it high up on my inner thighs. No idea what it is though. Feels like I've been riding my horse for days on end (when I've not even been on). 🤣

Lianna93 · 28/02/2022 12:36

@annie1994 I'm exactly the same. Can't walk for long periods of time without it becoming excruciating. Have my midwife on Thursday so gonna speak to her about it then - finding when I'm turning in bed, my back/hip area is also clicking/crunching 😬

Effram · 28/02/2022 14:37

@annie1994 sounds like PGP. I didn't have it at all with my first but it was bad with my second, I feel like I'm getting away with it this time but maybe it's just still too early at 23 weeks! I can't remember at what stage I had it last time. I do remember it actually easing off maybe 28/29 weeks because the baby gets bigger and lifts out of your pelvis a bit. I've been training a lot this time both before and during this pregnancy so I wondered if having a stronger core than previously has helped support .

Things that really helped me were a support belt that I wore not all day but before any periods I knew I would be walking or standing (e.g. cooking dinner). Trying to limit walking and definitely limit walking pushing a buggy/carrying a toddler/walking the dog.

and LOADS of yoga. I tried to do 10 mins min a day using down dog prenatal app which has a pelvic pain focus, and it made a huge difference. stretching out every morning really helped, and I think over time it helped strengthen the muscles around the pelvis and lower back to support everything better too. Try to keep your legs together as much as poss (lol) e.g. don't sit cross legged. Roll onto your side before sitting up and getting out of bed. but I can't emphasise enough just how much the daily yoga helped even just a few minutes, I went from my husband having to lift me out of the bath of an evening to feeling pretty much normal as long as I was careful with my movements/lifting!

annie1994 · 28/02/2022 17:04

@paintfairy @Lianna93 it’s so uncomfortable and it’s not like you grab hold of that area when it’s hurting in public!!

Thank you @Effram will give those tips a go. It’s hard because I have an 18mo boy who is only just starting to walk so still having to carry him a lot. Also getting up and down from the floor when bathing/ changing nappy/ playing 😖

Effram · 28/02/2022 18:37

@annie1994 it is so so hard, my son was 18 months when I was pregnant last time and he's now 3.5 and my second is 16 months!

I just tried to reduce it wherever possible, so I would get him to climb in and out of buggy himself, and I tried to only do baths when my husband was at home to lift him in and out. And I also tried to keep everything we needed downstairs to reduce how much I went up and down esp carrying him! Obviously I still had to quite a lot but even just trying to reduce it where I could I think helped, and try and lift really carefully so don't twist etc!

paintfairy · 28/02/2022 19:31

@annie1994 🤣 no its not ideal to grab there at all.

I've been struggling with trapped wind since yesterday. It's driving me mad! I've not had this since the beginning?! 😖

SPea · 28/02/2022 21:35

@paintfairy omg ditto, I had to sit through a family meal yesterday for about 4 hours squirming in my seat! Was so relieved when we made it home! If anyone has some tips on how to prevent it I would be very grateful!

strawberrysummer19 · 01/03/2022 07:58

@paintfairy @SPea I honestly would recommend lactulose and it's brilliant - works immediately for me !

I have regular problems going to the toilet anyway can be days and then it hurts
So pregnancy has made it worse

It was bad at the start but when I feel like I haven't been I take a bit and it really works
Just time it properly so if you work in an office day don't take it !! So I have to do it late afternoon after work so it has time to work!!

You only need such a small amount starting at 15ml working your way up to 30ml that does it for me - I did 40 one night and it was a very windy night!!! But it really helps x
