Had my anomaly scan yesterday and everything is perfect. He's still a boy 😂 and a big boy too! Sonographer said in the 94th percentile, I'm scared he's gonna be a whopper at birth. Still very active as he has been at all my other scans, waving his arms around like he's having a rave in my belly and sucking his thumb 😍

SamanthaVimes · 01/03/2022 09:29

@missv556 that’s lovely, so pleased it went well for you

ShellUK09 · 01/03/2022 09:33

@missv556 ah lovely 🥰 glad it all went well. I had my 20 week scan yesterday as too, all was well and baby was measuring average. Ours is still a girl and like yours was very active and kicking away. It was a lovely experience, I was surprised how detailed it was and she walked us through the whole baby. I had been worried as usual beforehand, I don't think I'll ever not worry before these appointments but I'm glad we have reached this milestone. Next to start thinking of car seats etc, there's so much to think about, and it's all new to us! Got my whopping cough vaccine later today then that's me done with appointments for a little bit, next midwife appointment is in April.

missv556 · 01/03/2022 09:56

@ShellUK09 I get nervous beforehand too but I feel like I can fully relax now cos I know baby is perfectly fine. And yes gonna have to start making those big purchases now that I know for sure this baby is viable. Been putting it off until I passed 20 weeks just in case, you never know do you?

paintfairy · 01/03/2022 10:09

@strawberrysummer19 I'm not constipated though? I suppose a bit might work to see if it helps with the wind.
@missv556 great news! Yes I've been putting buying things off too. My scan is Friday. It must be a relief to finally know everything is OK!

AppleTree16 · 01/03/2022 10:11

@missv556 @ShellUK09 got mine later this morning and very much 😬😬😬 until I know everything is fine.

strawberrysummer19 · 01/03/2022 10:18

Oh wow lovely scan updates !
I'm very much looking forward to mine which is a week today.

It's so hard waiting but I feel after my 20 week scan I can buy things so it's nice to have that to look forward to

I felt stronger movements yesterday eve for the 1st time which was so nice ! I've had little flutters here and there and often left thinking was that movement ?! but these felt more strong and like little rolls and tumbles so nice

@paintfairy for me it releases a lot of wind so it's maybe worth giving it a go
It works by adding moisture to the bowells so I think it can only help and worry a go x especially if it's trapped x

Danani · 01/03/2022 10:44

Hi ladies, do you accept one more? It's nice to see some familiar "faces" here! :)

I was in the July/Aug group but it has gone real quiet as everyone is on the FB group, and I can't be bothered to create a FB account...

I'm due Aug 1, and currently 18+1!

The wait till the 20 scan is killing me - it's exactly two weeks from now, so catching up on this thread and reading all of your updates about your scans has really lifted my spirits! I had a gender/well-being scan at 16 weeks, which right now feels AGES ago!

Is everyone here feeling movements already? I've been told on every single scan how active mine is, and I have posterior placenta so absolutely ITCHING to feel something, but I don't think I have yet! I thought a couple of days ago I felt something...like...a little muscle twitch or pulsation behind my belly button but it was gone so quick, I am absolutely not convinced it was baby! I keep thinking any little thing I can feel is probably digestion-related....Grin I keep waiting for a definite move I can feel and pay attention to, to determine if it is baby but no luck yet.

Also, whoever said they're going to the Baby Show - same! And we're going with "research" purpose in mind - just seems easier to check out a bunch of brands under one roof, test drive and touch things and short-list the items we want. I read some brands have 20-30% discount at the show which sounds SO tempting especially for the big items (pushchair, car seat, crib!) BUT...DH feels it's too early and for some reason I am the same. I think once the 20 scan is behind us, we'll unleash on the shopping! Are we being silly?

How is everyone else feeling? Physically/mentally? Any holiday plans in the near future?

Also, do we have/want to start a calendar with due dates?

strawberrysummer19 · 01/03/2022 10:52

@Danani hi lovely!

I'm 19wks today and I only got my first proper movement yesterday!! So there's still time
I have an anterior placenta so they told me at my private gender scan at 17.5 it may be a while off

My scan is a week away and I felt the same last week! The wait is so hard!!

I'm exactly the same re buying things after the 20 wks scan and I don't know why!

Calendar sounds like a great idea

X
**@missv556* @ShellUK09* got mine later this morning and very much 😬😬😬 until I know everything is fine.
I have mines this afternoon and feel exactly the same. Also having to balance being honest with not panicking my partner, he's a terrible worrier so been trying to say it might pick up issues, some of which may be able to be sorted at birth, but basically try not to get stressed out. It's a fine line, but hopefully everything will be ok and no need for concern.

I have my whooping cough vaccine immediately after and it's up in the maternity ward, so actually kind of looking forward to seeing it as I haven't had to be in there yet. Nice to know what to expect!

Danani · 01/03/2022 11:42

@AppleTree16 and @NamelessBaby1 good luck today! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Lianna93 · 01/03/2022 12:08

@Danani So lovely to 'see' you again! Congratulations on your pregnancy 🥰
How have you been?!

I'm now 22 weeks today - feel like it's absolutely flown in & already ready for it to be over 😂
We've got our 'big' purchases done - staggered them from 12 weeks onwards. So it's just all the little bits & bobs now.

Baby is kicking like mad on the daily now but because of the placenta being anterior, DH hasnt felt anything yet. Hoping as she gets bigger, he'll get to experience it too 🤞🏻

Danani · 01/03/2022 12:32

Hey friend @Lianna93! :) Awww that's so lovely! 💕

I've been really well, honestly I don't mean to brag but haven't experienced any of the tough preg symptoms - no low energy, no nausea. It's only my head that's letting me down sometimes, as I seem to constantly find stuff to worry about! LOL. First it was the 8 week scan, then the 12 week and the tests, now...the 20 week scan...and the no movements. Will it ever stop? I just want to chill and enjoy but my brain has other plans. 👀

Well done you for being so organized! I think with us it will be GO GO GO after the 20ish weeks, I literally have one teeny tiny baby PJ that I could not resist buying and that's it! LOL.

Ahhh that's amazing that you feel so much kicking! 22 weeks is not that late and with anterior placenta is awesome! Hopefully your DH gets to experience this soon too!
I'm eagerly. and I mean eagerly awaiting to feel something. But so far nada.

Coco9910 · 01/03/2022 12:36

@Danani Hi!! The July / August thread really dried up! Glad to see you over here! It is a long wait between scans so I understand how you feel! I had my dating scan at 12+1 and then I heard the baby’s heartbeat at my 16 week appointment and then got my 20 week scan at 20+1 so hearing the babies heart beat was a nice bit of reassurance in between the 2 scans but now I’m starting to get restless waiting!

We have also decided to find out the gender so now I’m weighing up whether to book a private scan to make it a bit more special. Could I have a scan this Saturday and then another scan 6 days later or are they too close together?

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 01/03/2022 12:40

Joining the 20 week scan club! I had mine yesterday - baby measuring exactly average for everything which is great. Unfortunately she was curled into a tiny ball in the corner of my uterus for the entire thing and refused to move so no cute pics Grin.

Amazed others have the organisation to have bought things already! I haven't bought anything sensible Blush - only a book for age over 2 that I couldn't resist...! I just feel overwhelmed whenever I look at pushchairs / car seats / cribs etc.

Effram · 01/03/2022 12:48

hello @Danani so nice to have you over here!

Those twitches do sound like movements to me, hopefully they'll get stronger and more frequent v soon to reassure you!

Danani · 01/03/2022 12:49

Hey @Coco9910! :)
It really has dried up and everyone is on FB, which I get it's probably easier, but I deleted my FB account years ago and it's such a faff creating a whole new one just to join a group! So here I am again! :) I am exactly exactly the same as you! 12 weeks was at 12+1, then went for private 16 week (heard heartbeat, well-being check + gender) and the 20 week is when I'll be 20+1! I find that 2 weeks is my sweet spot, when the euphoria from the scan has not worn off and the anxiety for the next one has not set in yet. LOL!
Hope time flies for both of us!!!

RE private gender scan - I totally recommend, just because you can ask them not to tell you, and instead you can purchase a balloon or confetti thingy and get surprised at home, which feels so special! Not sure if the 6 days between scans is an issue though...I've read everywhere to leave 2 weeks between scans but not sure if that's based on anything...medical. Maybe, check in with your midwife and if she says it's fine go for it!

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou - ahhh lucky you! Those are the words I'm dreaming of: "your baby is exactly average"! 😃 Must be such a relief!
I totally get the overwhlemed feeling, who knew there is SO. MUCH. STUFF. to choose from for babies! I found it helpful to put a list of items together, just to list out all the stuff I want/need, and then just tackle them one item at a time.We sort of picked our pushchair already, now onto car seats... (Haven't purchased anything, but I just think the buying part is easy, it's the choosing that's hard work!).

Danani · 01/03/2022 12:50

Hey @Effram!! :) Awww so nice to see so many friendly faces over here!!

Thank you, I hope you are right! How are you doing, lovely? x

Effram · 01/03/2022 12:55

@Danani really well thanks! I'm 23+1, it's flying by. I need it to slow down a bit actually I am nowhere near ready!

Currently super busy at work and doing a lot of childcare juggling due to illness of children/me/childcare providers! it feels nonstop!

AppleTree16 · 01/03/2022 13:44

Thank you all for the kind words. Baby doing very well! Small on the whole but with extremely long legs at this point (not a surprise, both me and OH are tall lanky sorts). Such a relief to know everything is progressing normally ❤️

KizboBaggins · 01/03/2022 17:43

@Danani I was exactly the same with movements last week! I'm 19+1 today and there's definitely some real movement starting and it's so exciting!

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I also feel pretty overwhelmed with the bigger stuff like prams and car seats and stuff. I'm normally so organised but I'm telling myself I'm waiting for the 20 week scan when in reality I'm just unsure what to buy! So far I've got one single baby grow and a set of cute boxes for the nursery lol.

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 01/03/2022 18:00

@Danani you're right - it's the choosing that's hard! How did you decide in the end?

@KizboBaggins I also told myself I would start buying after the 20 week scan...but not feeling any more like doing it now than I was before Grin. I have actually bought a SNOO, which claims something like an extra 2hrs of sleep per night for new parents! It self shushes / rocks when it 'hears' the baby crying

KizboBaggins · 01/03/2022 18:06

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou oh wow I just googled it, it looks amazing! I kinda wanna sleep in one myself, never mind the baby 😂 Well done for committing to it! My 20 week scan is on Monday so I'm literally gonna put a reminder in my calendar to "buy baby stuff" next week and start making some decisions!

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 01/03/2022 18:10

@KizboBaggins I also wanted to sleep in it once it arrived! Reminds me of sleeping on a sleeper train, which I always adore. I thankfully managed to get it in the black friday sales for half the price, so hoping if we don't get on with it that I can sell it on and not lose much money

Danani · 01/03/2022 18:27

Awww so exciting @KizboBaggins!! I hope for the same soon!!! 🤞🏻

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I have the Snoo on my list too! It’s now also 30% off which is fab! Still bloody expensive though, but hey you can’t put price on sleep!! 😄
For prams, we literally watched everything The Stroller Workshop has on YouTube! We had some brands in mind but his videos are super informative, also not sponsored by any brands so he’s brutally honest! Check it out.
