@NamelessBaby1 that's a good idea! I was going to do 3+ weeks extra mat using holiday, but I think the shorter weeks is a better option. That's 15 four day weeks! As long as work let me do that

I'm the same, I'm trying to plan stuff but it's so far away and there's so many variables atm. I guess it's good to have a rough idea what we want to do but just be ready to make changes.

Haha yep - I'm hoping my Mum will move closer to me as she's 4hrs away right now, and hoping my PIL will be keen on some childcare too... there's a lot of fingers being crossed over here atm 😂

@Mattieandmummy it dawned on me the other day there are like 13 weeks of school holidays, and combined me and DH have max 10weeks so I have no idea how people manage it 😬

Capricorn8990 · 24/02/2022 20:46

@SamanthaVimes that's so cute! It'll be amazing for her to have 2 languages under her belt.

Sorry if this is TMI.. but are you more "wet" down there since being pregnant? I felt a bit wet earlier and worried it was amniotic fluid leaking but think it's increased discharge.. anyone else? Xx

WotsitMum · 24/02/2022 21:44

@Capricorn8990 increased discharge is normal during pregnancy, i had it with my first and have it again with my seccond.

Anyones anxiety going sky high, so much going on in the world, covid and war, i just want my babies to be living in a safe world 😥

My niece has her birthday party on the weekend and my sister said that 4 people who have been invited have covid, with the rules beeing gone they can legaly attend, 2 have said they arent going to come but the other 2 have not said anything, im nervous about going now, im nervous about going out anywhere now

SamanthaVimes · 25/02/2022 05:46

@Capricorn8990 I’ve got a damp fanny too, had the same with my first. Sometimes I have to wear a panty liner because it gets uncomfortable.

If you’re worried though speak to your midwife. I vaguely remember being told in my antenatal classes last time if you wear a disposable pad they can test to see if it’s amniotic fluid or discharge / leaky wee.

missv556 · 25/02/2022 07:32

@WotsitMum I was literally coming on here to ask if anyone else was shit scared about potentially living through a war.

I've noticed an increase in discharge as well the past few days. It's defo discharge, as it comes up white in my underwear (sorry if tmi)

MittensForKittens123 · 25/02/2022 07:50

@Capricorn8990 the increase in discharge was actually my first symptom of being pregnant, even before I tested positive, and it’s stayed the same since. I think it’s normal.

WotsitMum · 25/02/2022 10:19

@missv556 im scared, my brother made a comment that my first was born in lockdown and now my seccond will be born in a bomb shelter 😬 im trying to stay positive, i dont think the uk will be affected other than prices of living going up, but on the other hand the world is so unpredictable anything seems possible now!

Also anyone with multiple babies already had a small first and a big seccond... my first was 4.5lbs and this baby is mesauing on the bigger end of the scale, im nervous😬

Lianna93 · 25/02/2022 10:21

@KizboBaggins I think that's part of the issue - I'm small & built so bmi registers me as being obese 😬😂

@Capricorn8990 Im having to wear panty liners all the time now because of it - thought I was peeing myself at first 🙈😂

Purple1181 · 25/02/2022 10:23

I’m feeling the anxiety too @WotsitMum :( I hate how all of a sudden we’re to act as if covid isn’t a problem

I tested positive last night - was supposed to have my scan today but obviously can’t go into hospital so now have to wait 2 weeks for another appointment. I only had my booster 10 days ago and I’m so worried it won’t have kicked in yet and me being ill could affect the baby

WotsitMum · 25/02/2022 10:29

@Purple1181 I have had covid allready beeing pregnant and it did make me quite poorly but scan this week showed baby is all well and healthy, it is a worry though! Im so nervous about catching it again and beeing even more poorly as the first time i had it all i had was a headache and carried on breastfeeding and caring for my 2 month old son and that was before vaccinations! So it seems to be the more times you get covid the more poorly you are? As i know a few people now who have had it more than once and each time are more poorly

Coco9910 · 25/02/2022 12:00

I was woken up last night with a stitch in my right side and I couldn’t get comfortable because of it. Eventually it went away when I moved onto my left side. Has anyone had this? Was thinking that I knew I wasn’t as fit as I used to be but getting a stitch while sleeping is new for me 😂

@WotsitMum yes so scary! I was a bit anxious about having a baby during covid times (hopefully the back end of it) but never thought it could be during a war 😩 so scary! Really feeling for the people of Ukraine right now 😢

SPea · 25/02/2022 13:13

Its really scary, I feel so sorry for the women out there who are in the same situation as us and are having to deal with this on top of all the normal pregnancy anxiety.

@coco9910 not a stitch, but I did have bad heartburn, really wanted to turn over but couldn't sleep on my left side without it thudding away! Was completely fine on my right.

Had a really lovely experience just before bed tho, I've realised that I can't really feel the baby move when I'm sat down or standing probably because of the position of my placenta, but when I'm lying back on the sofa or reading in bed I must be in the best position. So last night I was reading and he was happily thumping away so I put my hand on my belly and for the first time I could feel it on the outside, so my partner put his hand there too and could feel the little kicks aswell, was so lovely!

KizboBaggins · 25/02/2022 13:47

@SPea ahh that's so cute! I can't wait to feel any sort of movement that isn't caused by gas 😂

Capricorn8990 · 25/02/2022 21:26

@WotsitMum @SamanthaVimes @MittensForKittens123 thank you for your replies! Glad it's normal. I just got a bit concerned but think it's normal this time x

AppleTree16 · 26/02/2022 07:02

@SPea not usually one for crying ever, but just cried at the videos of the newborns in the bomb shelter NICU set up 😭

MittensForKittens123 · 26/02/2022 09:12

@Purple1181 I understand your worries, I have Covid two weeks ago, and I was very upset - especially as we had been so careful. I was ill with it (4 days in bed). But I’ve had a scan this week, and everything is looking normal. If you think about if you have to have it whilst pregnant, this is the best time to have. Not too early and not too late. Hope you’re feeling better soon

strawberrysummer19 · 26/02/2022 09:50

So we are going to the baby show at excel next weekend and it's 3 days before my 20week scan!

As much as we were going to 'look' I'm thinking am I wrong to but if I see a bargain?!

I'm only 18+5 and haven't bought anything yet but I have leftovers from my niece when she stays so I've put bits aside (so may as well buy I know!) then my friend bought me a gorgeous baby grow when I revealed the gender - but other than that I haven't as I wanted to wait for my 20 week scan

What has everyone else done?

I did have a gender scan at 17+5 and she did a bit of a reassurance scan too, so I've seen bubs last weekend but as I've not had massive obvious amount of movement I'm still cautious

X

strawberrysummer19 · 26/02/2022 09:51

And thanks for the new post! I was wondering my my post wouldn't sent on thread 3! X

Coco9910 · 26/02/2022 11:06

@strawberrysummer19 I’ve been telling myself I’m waiting until my 20 week scan to buy any big bits but I don’t know why! We are going to a baby and toddler event a week after our 20 week scan so luckily that works well for us but I don’t see the harm in getting something now if you see a bargain!

strawberrysummer19 · 26/02/2022 11:11

@Coco9910 I know it's funny Isn't it
I guess it's just being on the safe side
That's good timing, I know I'll feel better after the scan even though I've said that since finding out! But I really will
The gender scan we did a fair few checks they do at the anomaly scan but still it's not far away x

Purple1181 · 26/02/2022 15:58

@MittensForKittens123 that’s good to know. I was upset my scan had been moved so far away but I think it will be good to have that reassurance once I’m better. I researched so much before deciding to go for my booster - so now obviously everything I read about covid affecting the placenta etc is playing on my mind :/

purpleskyssssss · 26/02/2022 17:00

@Purple1181 I also had covid 2 weeks ago, tested negative finally on day 9 - I was poorly for 2 days and was extremely anxious as my 20 week scan also got pushed back, I got the community midwife out cause I was just convincing myself something would happen

Had my 20 week scan at 21+2 and baby is growing perfectly - try not to worry and try relax although I know harder said then done - also stay of google, none of my midwifes even seemed concerned I had it

Peters27 · 26/02/2022 18:31

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if someone could help-I'm irish and its my first baby so I'm not fully sure of the processes here in th UK.I had my 20 week scan last week,is it at my next appointment I get the MatB1 form?Or was I supposed to get it at the 20 week?or could I just ask the community midwife/GP to send out..im just not sure if there is a rush on it(does it have to be with your employer by a certain point)Completely forgot to ask after the scan!
Thanks so much for any help in advance

kiwi17 · 26/02/2022 19:55

@Peters27 mine was issued at my 20 week scan- I think you can contact your midwife and ask for it though. Not sure about when employers need it for, although I think you have to notify them of the pregnancy by 25 weeks? I could be wrong!

SamanthaVimes · 26/02/2022 19:55

@Purple1181 I had as covid over New Year at 12/13 weeks. My 20 week scan last week was completely fine. I know it’s impossible not to worry but hopefully this reassures you a bit x
