@missv556 I was at the show in Glasgow recently, bought tickets as soon as I saw them advertised then realised I could have got them for free via work closer to the time, was raging haha. Definitely worth holding out to see if you can get them somewhere for cheaper!

They did have some good deals on stuff on the day, got my travel system for less than I'd have got it elsewhere and got some other wee bits and bobs too. I found it worthwhile going anyway.

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 14:18

Growth scan went well!
Turns out baby is actually on the small side 😂 But she's absolutely perfect with a whole lotta hair apparently 😂

This is todays! 😂

Oh my goodness @Lianna93 , shows how unreliable the measurements are when it's that different lol! Glad baby is looking well though albeit hairy 🤣

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 14:37

@NamelessBaby1 honestly couldn't believe it when I was shown her chart! 😂 Glad I'll no be pushing out a big melon heed like what I was as a baby 🙈😂

missv556 · 06/05/2022 15:09

@Lianna93 do you find you've experienced heartburn? I've read the old wives tales that baby's cause heartburn if they've got a good head of hair. Any truth? Lol

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 15:24

@missv556 Funny you should ask that cos I've literally got it right now 🙈😂
But yeah, heartburn every day & constant hiccups too! 😂

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 15:26

This is the top of her head & all the spikey bits you can see is her hair 🙈😂

missv556 · 06/05/2022 15:48

@Lianna93 I might have a hairy baby too then, I get reflux in the evenings.

kiwi17 · 06/05/2022 18:19

@missv556 I've always wondered about the hairy baby heartburn thing - in my experience it's true though I had no heartburn with my first and she was basically bald til she was 3 😂 even now her hair is very fine. This time round I've had no heartburn really either so looks like I might be in for another baldy baby!

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 20:28

Is anyone gonna start Raspberry Leaf Tea? I'm 32 weeks on Tuesday but have no idea the best brand to buy 🤔

CaptainCarp · 06/05/2022 21:01

@KizboBaggins glad your scan went well & baby is a nice weight.
Are you having more or are they now happy?

@Coco9910 when they explained my chart yesterday the said between 10th & 90th centile were "normal". Also at the bottom of mine it says when to refer for scans & for the 1st measurement its only if below then 10th centile?

OP posts:
KizboBaggins · 06/05/2022 21:34

@CaptainCarp they seemed happy enough for now! The sonographer said she wouldn't be surprised if I'm back at some point but idk what she meant by that really!

@Lianna93 what is the tea for? Also how cute is that hair 😍 I didn't see any on my scan so maybe we're having a baldy boy! I haven't had any heartburn yet either (thankfully!)

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 21:41

@KizboBaggins The teas supposed to help with your labour. The recommendation is to start with 1 cup a day from 32 weeks then increase to 3 a day the further along you are.
Apparently also really helps with menstrual cramps - wish I'd known that years ago 😂

The hair is unreal - I'm honestly in awe. Can't wait to see what she looks like when she's here 💜
Hopefully you stay heartburn free 🤞🏻 I'm constantly popping antacids 😂

NamelessBaby1 · 06/05/2022 21:42

@Lianna93 I actually did buy some recently, however I asked my midwife at my last appointment when it would be ok to start drinking it and she said basically don't do anything that might impact/ speed up labour until week 37! So I'll be keeping it in my cupboard a while longer. Love seeing the hair in the scan though, that's so cute!

I've started to get hot flushes in the evenings now too - this reaching the 30 week mark is definitely a turn around in pregnancy symptoms after having it easy so far! Hot flushes, heartburn, leg cramps, hip pain - argh!

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 22:02

@NamelessBaby1 I completely forgot to ask my midwife yesterday - so may wait until my 34 weeks appointment.
Also want to start collecting my colostrum from 36 weeks which my midwife was definitely on board with 😁
I'm feeling you with the 3rd trimester woes 🙈😂 Been struggling to breath recently- sonographer pointed out today that's because her wee bum is right up in my ribs 😩😂

NamelessBaby1 · 06/05/2022 22:23

Haha, she's definitely not making it easy for you is she! At least she isn't giant as well 🤣
Oh I hadn't thought about that, I don't seem to be producing anything yet but obviously a lot can change in a short time. What is the benefit in collecting some in advance?

Lianna93 · 06/05/2022 23:10

@NamelessBaby1 She's an absolute menace 😂
Collecting in advance can help bring on labour but also means you'll have a supply if your baby struggles to latch. But because it can be frozen too, means you can have a supply of colostrum for when baby gets sick as it'll help build up their immune system & such - loads of research been done on the benefits & hospitals will often recommend harvesting some before hand 😊

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 07/05/2022 03:34

Great idea to start stocking up on the raspberry tea @Lianna93 !

I’ve just had my 32 week scan and she’s measuring at 4.9lbs already…! 94 percentile… gulp… doing my sums of 1/2lb a week that means I’m looking at a 9lb-er plus

errrrr…….

hoping the raspberry leaf tea will start working on day 37+1 and she comes early!

KizboBaggins · 07/05/2022 07:36

@Lianna93 do you know when you can start harvesting? Is it 36 weeks? I have one leaky boob and it feels like a waste letting it just soak the sheet lol. But I'm only 28+6 so probably too early

What is everyone planning for labour in terms of having people around? I have no idea what to expect so don't know how to plan. My mum lives far away - she could come up for labour, or wait until a few days after he's born. I know it's very specific to each persons preference but I can't decide if I want the help immediately, or want a few days just me DH and baby...

@HotToddyColdSauvignon wow! Best of luck to your vagina 😂 hope she comes early for you!

NamelessBaby1 · 07/05/2022 07:54

@Lianna93 that's fab thanks, will need to look into that too then!

Lol @HotToddyColdSauvignon , definitely hope it goes smoothly at the time!!

@KizboBaggins for labour itself will just be my husband, and even then he'll probably just annoy me being there and I'd quite happily get on with it myself haha, but I think he should be aware of what it's like 🤣 I am hoping my mum will come over for a few days after to see to stuff around the house and meals and whatnot while we get settled in with the baby. She's taken time off work around then anyway and isn't too far away so will be able to change her plans at shirt notice if needed.

strawberrysummer19 · 07/05/2022 10:10

Does anyone know the rules for visitors in hospital once baby is born?

My mother in law is my birthing partner and I'm getting used to the thought and preparing for having baby early hours or outside visiting hours where finance may not be able to see us until visiting hours etc but I've just had a thought, can we even have visitors outside of the birthing partner ?

If I have c section or in hospital any length of time just want to be prepared

X

missv556 · 07/05/2022 10:36

@strawberrysummer19 best to check with the hospital in which you intend to give birth. I know that where I'm giving birth, at the moment you can't have any visitors except the father of the child or I assume the birth partner if its a different person. There's still time for that to change I guess but I'm happy with that tbh. If I'm in the hospital fucked up after birth I don't really want anyone around me lol just wanna be in our little bubble for the first few days.

So I've just had my friend over, she brought her sons old cot around and she's also given me a bag of supplies like Nappies, wipes which I'm like thank you cos I haven't brought Nappies at all. I told her that baby is head down and she's like he's gonna come early. She reckons 2 weeks tops. Erm no sir, please stay in your assigned area until your due date 🤣

NamelessBaby1 · 07/05/2022 10:55

@missv556 Morrisons have big boxes of newborn pampers nappies on special offer at the minute in case you do start buying up - I've been getting a wee pack here and there when I've been ordering a shop but got one of the big boxes yesterday so hopefully have plenty now for when they first arrive! No idea how many I'll actually need though haha. Great that you got some from your friend!

I agree re not wanting people to visit in hospital if I'm feeling gnarly, and I'm cringing at when I went to see my SIL as soon as she'd had 2 of hers haha, she probably just wanted peace!

strawberrysummer19 · 07/05/2022 11:41

@missv556 I wouldn't want any other guests
Mother in law feels like a second mum so I'm happy with her but I will ask my hospital nearer the time - i suppose im the minority having someone other than partner but he will be at home with our 10yr old
Had a horrible traumatic birth with her and im happy he's at home with our daughter to be honest
Horrible for me horrible for him

Re head down my midwife said I was engaged at 32 wks and no way would I go full term ! Very low down and she said expect her to come early
From 37 wks I was ready
She was one day late !!
